Quite the longshot but is anyone here self-made while coming from nothing?
>>36439652
Most of us are nothing coming from in between nothing and something. Have a bump just in case some poser happens to give good advice.

ain't that the ayylien rom prometheus?
>>36439652
I like the concept but that sculpting is just absolutely ugly.
if you run your own small business maybe
>>36439652
cosmically we all are
>>36439958
Nah, it's the opposite. We're all coming from something.
Depends on what you mean by self-made. I'm not a uber rich person, but I came from a poor family to someone who makes 6 figures.
Blackbot with a decent gig in IT reporting in.
Grew up with 5 siblings and a shitty stepdad. My sisters started having children of their own at 14-17 so the house got cramped quickly.
Everyone tried to discourage my studies. Now they regularly beg for money because "families help each other". Some drunk smelly uncle of mine just showed up at my condo saying he needed a place to live for "jus a couple weeks" and wouldn't leave until I threatened to call the cops.
My kitchen is as big as the bedroom I shared with 2 brothers. Everything's so quiet and cozy.

good for you anon, fuck your family
Professionally, sort of. I mean, nothing special but above average.
But honestly it still feels like shit. I'd rather be dirt poor and not ugly.
>>36440051
Good for you. Don't give your family anything, they'll drain you until you're back down to their level.
Lmao is that a depiction of putin?
>>36439971
Unless you believe in the zero-energy universe hypothesis, which means we were something from technically nothing.
Nope, I needed lots of help.
Never would of been able to do it on my own. Some of it was just way past my ability especially with any sort of time frame.
If you ever need help be very careful about who you ask, other people will attack you for having a weakness. A lot of people won't attack someone they think is strong but if they think someone is weak then they are much more likely to.
TFW you're trying to get your life on track but no one cares.
You have a year of wiggle room(IE, you took a semester off college) but anything more than that you're fucked. You're expected to have a real job and an apartment by 24 and you're expected to have a house by 28.
If you've fallen behind in the rat race even roasties who live with their parents and have some receptionist or library clerk job won't touch you.
>>36440051
Good work, don't give your shitty family a dime, they don't deserve it.
>>36439652
if you are born or raised in a first world country, you are not coming from nothing. i can say that i was relatively poor growing up and now i'm upper middle class on my own work ethic and the success of industries/companies i work with, but my parents were smart enough to become billionaires if they didn't spend 40 years in a shithole where anybody sticking their head up meant death.
>Have shitty parents
>Pretty much taught me all wrong.
>Every body in my family works at in auto plant or something similar.
>Family looks down on me for going to college and getting an office job.
>Get really down about it.
>Then one day my grandparents died and I realize I was literally the only one in the family who would afford the funerals.

There are kinds of poverty that have nothing to do with socioeconomic standing. Having no friends, no ability to socialize, being autistic or weird, being ugly/unfashionable and generally unapproachable is its own sort of dismal bankruptcy.
If you're one of these types, you're playing a completely different game from everyone else and you're doing so alone.
>>36440051
I don't mean to be rude, but why the fuck would they discourage studies? Do they not see that as the way out of poverty like the rest of the world?
>>36440273
>if you are born or raised in a first world country, you are not coming from nothing.
I mean sure. I wasn't the same as a starving kid in Africa, but those macaroni Christmases. Weren't exactly middle glass.
>>36440480
IDK about that guy, but where I live it's very common.
>>36439652
My parents and my brothers are the only thing I had back then:
>Parents
>Gave me enough freedom to learn from my mistakes, but not enough to go past the point of no return.
>Brothers
>One was a great inspiration, the other one I try to be his inspiration.
Other than that, we were piss poor, shitty education, awful neighborhood, and so on. Family was the only thing that helped me be a wageslave with a nice income and a great college degree.
>>36440539
Fucking why? That doesn't make any goddamn sense.
>>36440702
They are people who like to lean on family, education is alien and out of their sphere of influence, it leads to independence, certain members of these family thrive on mutual dependence as they would do very poorly as independent agents because they have nothing of their own merit working for them.
>>36440735
Hmm. That's interesting. Thanks for explaining it, anon.
>>36439913
this one is way better
