Protips:
shift+a to bring up the menu to add stuff like primitives
press space to bring up the search box. Type something into it and you can access any action at all so long as you kinda know what it was called
start with a primitive shape then press tab to go into edit mode. From here you subdivide your faces and do your general shaping

pretty much yeah, a lot of the time that went into games pre-2008 was making sure that the models were perfect (for their time)
now since games are shit out in a year and a half they don't take the time to do that any more and reuse assets from fucking 2006

I'm sure there's really easy ways to do what you're talking about but I just press N top open the side panel and then manually type in the coordinates. You may have to do a little math but it's perfectly accurate.
