why do people do this? Like it literally takes less than 5 minutes to boot up is that really that much of a time waste (especially if you're a neet) that you just can't bear it? It also puts unnecessary stress on the components, increases your electricity bill and you can feel bad cause you're not helping the environment.
I'm not hating, do whatever you want but I just can't see the point of this someone please enlighten me

My laptop's really slow for the first hour or so after it's booted. Plus I like keeping threads open at night and catching up when I wake up. I don't think it uses that much power in standby, in fact I think the power taken to turn it on again would waste more than just leaving it standby for 7 hours.

well I just tend to pass out at my desk so I just wake up and continue where I left off
but even back when I didnt I just turned the monitor off because at any point I probably have something open I dont want to save and restart
