I live in harlem. Im white...and i have moments like this everyday. Ive met rude white people in life too obviously....but its nowhere near as consistent or frankly as bad. I try to just laugh about it. At least where i live the white people are slowly taking over ...but ive only lived here 5 months and my racist ideals have increased 10 fold. Thats not a coincidence.

Tbh I wish there was a solution for this kind of thing. Hating a whole group of people is obviously stupid and everyone knows that. But when a person actually experiences discrimination, or someone is mean to them because of the color of their skin, you can understand why they might start to become racist. The important thing is so not go out into the world and keep spreading racism, but to give individuals a chance, and treat them not according to your assumptions, but to either their actions or your values. I stopped at Walmart last night to get a case of beer. Walking to the "10 items or less" line with my one single item. Just one item.

I arrived there just before an older black woman and she promptly pushed my cart to the side and cut in front of me. Waving over her daughter, who had a full cart.

Bang! She slammed it against my cart as she forced hers to the front.

After hearing the total cost of her purchase she repeatedly pointed to various items asking "how much wuz dis? how much wuz dat?" and complained each time saying that she thought it was cheaper, the sign said it was less.

Even after paying she continued to stand there in the line making conversation with the cashier. Apparently her daughter was turning 16 and they were buying supplies for a fabulous party.

While they talked another white man joined the queue behind me. Carrying a single item. Just one item.

We shared a look of annoyance towards the inconsiderate and rude nigger in front. I paid for my goods and left quickly.
