How are you holding up lads? Which final project/exam are you dreading the most?
>>
>>36051142
My Analysis final. It's basically giving air tight proofs of why everything about Math and mathematical properties is true. It covers the number system/sets, sequences/series, limits, derivatives, integrals and other things.
>>
>>36051142
>need to apply to transfer and email an adviser soon

>>
I have straight A's. Just aced an exam today as well. None of my finals seem to worry me because I know I'll do good. Just wish I had something to do other than browse the internet all day. Might buy a piano or some other impulsive shit.
>>
>>36051142
The one I love is likely to fail the Analisys exam and drop out. If it happens, I think I drop out too. Or maybe switch my degree to something more interesting.
>>
>>36051433
Why would you want to date a brainlet?
>>
>tfw missed a quiz accidentally

I'm graduating next month and all I feel is way more pressure than before. I procrastinate on some major paper and a final project that are due in few weeks and so far I'm accumulating more and more work but all I wanna do is smoke weed and wander aimlessly online.

Emotions, man, this affection for a kind person, I can't control it. We know each other too well, so I can't just let it go.
Besides, I'm a brainlet too, I can't handle programming and some other stuff. Others say I'm "smart but lazy" but it's bullshit.

Don't stop studying Math. You'll regret it. Also why the fuck do all women suck ass at upper level math?

Maybe math is too abstract, and their brains are more accustomed to perform more practical tasks which have visible consequences in a near future.

I know how you feel. I'm currently attending a university that's out of town, and my parents want me to transfer back to my hometown (for mental health issues that I am unable to handle on my own) so that I can have access to my doctors/therapist. I'm too apathetic and lazy to begin the process of doing this, and I'll probably end up fucking myself over. I don't really care about it right now, but I am sure that I will regret it later

Matlab scripting is really easy and any trouble you have is probably because of the math behind it.

If it makes you feel better, a lot of CS majors can't code for shit. Knew a math grad student who was an absolute wizard at math, but didn't even know OOP. Didn't matter because he was actually good at what he did.

I'm graduating in three and a half weeks, EE memedegree. I have thre projects to finish. An exam tomorrow that I havent started studying for. I havent had a drink in three days, the longest in almost a year. If I can make it through the next three weeks Ill graduate.

I squandered my time here. All around me I see people who have real friendships, people who care about them. I am so god damn jealous of normies. The only emotion I get anymore is lonely.

And now I'm staring down the barrel of a 9-5, rotting away in an apartment somewhere, and I hate it. The only people I will interact with will be coworkers. I'll go home to a decent place in a decent neighborhood and twiddle my thumbs until I go to work again. My life will be absolutely meaningless and I am powerless to change that. I cant relate to human beings and I hate touching people. There is nothing in this world for me. I really should just fucking kill myself ha ha o well gg

I have my last class ever tomorrow.

Twenty four years into my life and a BA and JD later, and I'm finally now moving onto stage 2 of it. This is the end of my 'preparation' part of my life, now I have to go experience it, and then eventually fetter away and embrace my death. I don't feel ready for this leap yet, but I guess that feeling takes years to fully digest. I keep telling myself that I can just go back to university later and get another degree, and so this doesn't seem like a final 'goodbye', but I don't think that's going to happen.

I'm already regretting not forming more friendships, not experiencing the emotional highs and lows of a college girlfriend, not doing more in the city, not joining more clubs and trying out fencing like I always wanted to. And overall, I'm regretting spending so much time alone in my dark, locked room as the days pass by. I could have at least watched countless great movies or read great novels, but I didn't do that, I just replayed old single-player video games. There's not a single thing I regret doing, but there is so much I regret not doing.

Even still, I'm sure I'll look back on my university years as the 'best time in my life', knowing that what awaits me until I'm a crusty, prolapsed old man is countless billable hours in a large downtown law firm, grinding out deals between businesses to shift money back and forth. I've already experiencing summer work with my company and it's got everything that NEET Pepe feels smug over.

This feeling is very strong robots and I'm sure I'll feel it for years ahead. Every morning I wake up at 6:00 or every day I spend in the office on the weekends, I'll be reminiscing about what little fun I had in my time in university. So remember to make the best of every precious moment you're given during this stage in your life.

Sorry for the long personal blog. Wish me luck.

Majored in English, doing honours now. It's the comfiest thing desu. All I do is read books all day and have conversations about them with other robots and fembots. There's only 12 of us in our class so I don't spill spaghetti as much.

Bear in mind I know that my time is limited and I have nothing to offer society. It's either I make it as an author or kms.

>So remember to make the best of every precious moment you're given during this stage in your life.
One of the great ironies of life, is that we are likely incapable of appreciating a thing until it is lost to us. I'm finishing up my last classes over the next two weeks and I've been feeling similarly. I don't regret anything I've done so far, but there's so much that I feel like I missed out on. Truth be told, the world outside of academia scares me to death. I have parents and peers who complain almost non-stop about their jobs, and they are so entirely miserable with what they do; the thought that I will be that miserable in the near future, and potentially until I'm dead, scares me half to death. I don't want to be miserable for the remaining 50 years of my life just because it's part of "growing up." I can't help but feel like there's got to be more to life than working 9+ hours a day, 5-6 days a week, as cliche as that sounds.

Whatever happens in it, people become super stressed out, more cynical and bitter, lose their interesting hobbies, lose their will to exercise regularly or maintain their appearance, stop learning new things for learnings' sake, stop clinging to the possibility that they might be great someday, and just focus on managing one day at a time, getting the kids to soccer practice, and enjoying a bottle of wine here and there.

I think less than 5% of careers can provide one with a sense of real fulfillment in life. Entrepreneurship, maybe some research positions, the creative arts, athletics, maybe some random things like tour guides. Most of my friends from undergrad started work after that, and 3 years in now, I can't say I know a single one of them who feels happy, or who enjoys their work (not that I know that many people).

Congrats on your JD

Any advice for a likely future law student?

Does changing majors help at all?

I realized that studying in my "dream career" just didn't work at all.
I plan on changing to something safer like architecture or engineering even if I hate math and stuff, but I'm good at it so it wouldn't be that hard

I've got four finals in the next 5 days. Behind in a lot of my classes and on the verge of failing my physics class. Fuck me, first year has been such a disaster. Everything used to look so bright for me too back in the early days of high school, but I really lost my way in my senior year. Going out alone I just went further and further into the abyss. Really looking forward to this summer to get my shit in order.

The first year isn't too bad, but the fun stuff comes later, so its not all that interesting either.

Not much advice beyond the usual. Generally your instructors/professors will want to see you succeed, don't be afraid of emailing them or asking them questions if you are having trouble. Once you get to this point, you are an adult - act like it. Some of these people i have seen should be no where near college. Its embarrassing.

Good luck anon.

Before you finalize your decision, just make sure you have realistic expectations of the career to come. That can be as simple as reading through top-law-school forums threads started by practicing lawyers across the various fields and firm sizes. Survey everything out there, from a family law divorce practice for rich clients fighting over property, to an ambulance-chasing personal injury lawyer, to a criminal prosecutor/attorney trying to pursue the ideal of justice, to a corporate lawyer in a BIGLAW firm. See if any of those lives pique your interest. Many people enter law school for the wrong reasons (ex. as a finishing degree for an english major, or because they're not ready to start life after undergrad yet <- me), and I don't imagine many of those people end up happy in their practice.

There's a reason why substance abuse and depression is so rampant among lawyers, and its not just that we're supposedly more 'pessimistic' and apt as seeing the risks before the rewards. I think a very small fraction of the overall population has the personality and temperament to simply deal with the volume of work that comes your way, dealing with the overload of detail and surrounding legal interactions that colour your work, and grinding through countless hours, always striving for no less than perfect (and the client certainly will expect perfection). It's not a job for the lackadaisical, or for those who get really annoyed when the 'work life' bleeds into their 'life life', because lawyering is a full-time life.

I'm sure that I'm one of the more cynical among my colleagues (why I'm here, after all) so don't think its all darkness, though. Some people do enjoy their jobs. The pay is good. The prestige is there. There's job security once you have a couple years of experience. And the hiring situation isn't that bad as long as you go to a good school, work hard in your 1L year to get a summer internship, and apply broadly to firms.

>>36059463
Thanks for the in depth reply. I guess I'm similar to your position in that I'm a bit of an aimless humanities major (philosophy + foreign language) and I'm searching for my life after undergrad right now. Law school doesn't necessarily sound ideal but then again I don't feel like anything else does either. Grad school sounds nice but I'm almost certain that I don't have the intelligence to succeed permanently in academia. Going to work after undergrad sounds too dull and I'm worried about employment even then. Law school sounds like it fits the role of "the next step in my life towards attaining a lifelong career" - something which my other options don't meet.

Maybe I'll do the meme and teach English abroad for a few years and then decide. Thanks again.

I would say so. Calc III is just Calc I on steroids with some intro to analysis. Started community college right out of high school in the fall of 15. After christmas break, I stopped going and flunked out of spring 16, wasted like 3k of my mom's money (well, her money that she put in a college fund of mine) plus the 2k from fall semester. Decided to move out and move in with my brother and restart my life in a different state, last fall started a new community college completely fresh, one of my three classes completely stopped attending and all but gave up on 2 others, got an F, D and C for about another 4k (out of state tuition) but managed to convince my mom to keep me in for one last semester (spring of 17, this one) and I was dropped from 2 of my 4 classes and the other 2 I haven't attended in probably over a month now.

does anyone serious take the advice of professors to study 2-3 hours for each credit? that's like 9 hours for each credit. For me that's around 40 hours studying for 16 credits. I barely study. I just go to class, make sure I understand the homework and draw the main points and finer details from the lectures. That probably takes 3-4 hours total outside of class per week.
