Anyone /musician/ here?
>Been playing guitar/doing standup for the past few months at bars and stuff
>All I want is a real band to play with and write songs but I have no friends
>tfw you will forever be the lonely bar singer
I play with my dick and It makes funny noises, does that count?
>can't transcribe patterns into my head into guitar playing
help anon how do I unlock autismo guitar
i'll never do the normie band thing probably - I only practice my real chords a little and play mostly power chord shit lol
>>36043829
that actually sounds like you might have perfect pitch, anon. when you think of a series of chords in your head, can you only hear it in one key? because that would explain why you have trouble getting it out into your instrument.
I guess I don't even really want a band, just someone to play with and write with.
>tfw no buds into power electronics
>mfw I know multiple artists from different fields where I live.
>mfw addicted to videogames and have no desire to play music
I wish I did, I feel I could network out a good situation, have plenty of activity in life.
>>36043943
That's so strange, I can't imagine my life without playing music. I dropped out of college because I couldn't make myself care about anything else.
Not a musician, but a 3d animator... I know the feels of not getting noticed... It feelsbadman
>>36043695
>tfw too autistic to perform live
>tfw too autistic to be in a band
>tfw too white to be a blues solo artist
>tfw can't write songs or lyrics
At least you're not me
>>36043983
I didn't realize it was like that...do most animators work freelance?
>>36044005
I think if you have an aptitude for the blues, then you should go for it. Few know the blues better than robots.
>>36044050
I know, personally, John Lee Hooker's been my favorite and I've tried to imitate his style of playing
Too bad I can't because he's on a whole other level than me :/. Still though, I've played with the thought of recording an album full of old blues classics and standards, and putting them on soundcloud, but I'm not sure about the whole copyright thing. Maybe one day I'll make my own blues record
>>36044180
practice makes perfect, anon. no one is ever as good as they'd like to be.
you should. just to put it out there.
>tfw starting a new band
>tfw I finally found people as dedicated as me
>tfw our first real practice was awesome
>tfw shows and touring and eps will follow
I'm so happy, robots. It's finally happening.
>>36043976
I cant imagine my life without getting on the computer at least by the days end and playing til I feel tired.
My friend wastes a lot of time cooking really nice food for himself. I think its a waste cus for a small fee I can go buy myself a meal somewhere.
These are the lives we live. I truly wish I could have different hobbies, despite the fact that gaming is likely a good hobby to have overall if controlled properly.
>>36044414
I'm happy for you anon, mind sharing a bit of your luck with the rest of us? What do you play? What kind of music does your band play?
>>36044422
Triple doubles confirm the truth of your statement. I believe that whatever fills the hole in your heart is good for you.
>>36044471
I play guitar and sing and right now we sound like Dinosaur Jr, Braid and a hint of the Stone Roses.
>release a new album (solo obviously)
>im not very good, music isnt very good
>play every part myself, write everything myself
>but still not even my friends will check it out
Ooph, fucking brutal. I don't make music for other people, but it'd be nice if friends even feigned an interest.
>>36044827
Post here, you'll have a lot of people to listen to it. what style is it?
>>36044551
so kinda indie-noise rock. I like the sound of that.
>>36044827
I only made that mistake once or twice, it really made me wonder how close my "friends" really were. And now obviously I realize that they didn't really care about me at all.
>>36044861
It's indie trash. Unlike my first album (This is my second) a couple songs are a bit folky. But on the whole it's just a mix of genres like any album by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
If anyone takes some time to listen to a track or two I really appreciate it. I can't sing, but know no one who can, so it's the best I got.

yeah, most 3d artists in general are autists or generally too socially awkward to hold down a job, so a lot of times you submit a portfolio to a company and then work remotely for a bit after you sign a contract. (only heard this from 3rd parties haven't yet applied for a job)
>tfw nobody to play freeform improv with
>>36044900
Starting to listen through, kinda reminds me of green album. And coincidentally, you sound kind of like Rivers. Obviously you have some work to do with your singing voice, but you have a very authentic quality to it; just have to work on tonal accuracy.
>>36045048
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement anon. As you can tell, I have zero vocal training, but it's something I really want to work on. The first of many holes to start patching up!
And of course thanks for listening, it really means a lot to me!
>>36044471
this cocksucker a nigga BITCH I can write the world's most intricate shit too bitch
>>36045080
no problem, I'll keep an eye on your soundcloud. And I post these musician threads every so often, mainly to keep myself from going crazy, but I like talking to fellow musically inclined robots.
>>36044900
This is really nice. Your singing voice isn't the best, but it's not super bad. Keep it up my man!
>>36045127
Rad. I try to pop into these when I see them, hope to catch up with you again!
>>36045142
Thanks anon! Definitely going to keep it up. Currently in that period of hibernation that follows an album release, but I'm looking forward to writing again once the itch comes back.
If you're at all inclined, there's also my first album on there. It's much weaker, in my opinion, but a couple of the songs are nice. And I just can't resist shilling my own work when given the chance. Thanks for checking out what you did!

Your voice reminds me of Neil from Lemon Demon. Not a really GOOD voice, but one that I still enjoy listening to. V nice
>play the oboe
>went to school for it
>love operas from the 1800s, especially wagner
>can't talk about it without coming off as incredibly pretentious
>can't give any criticism to any type of music without being called "an elitist who doesn't like anything popular"
>have to pretend to like songs made up of babby's first 3 chords about love being nice because people think i'm talking down to them if i don't agree with them
>people care only about the artists and not the art itself
>people literally can't go see an opera or listen to orchestral music without making some sarcastic instagram post going "oh look at me i'm being so hoity toity"
>spent my entire formative years learning something people just laugh at
>>36045308
You're around the wrong people, anon. Dig deeper.
>>36045308
What's your favorite opera from wagner? Mine is probably Tannhauser, in part because of the story behind the writing; the tortured artist aspect is really compelling, and every time I listen I wonder what he would have done to continue improving it.
>tfw know music theory very well
>used to write classical
>realized that it's useless to write nowadays because there's no audience
>get into playing electric guitar
>learn how to write rock/metal
Now all I have to do is get good enough to play in a band and actually start one. The only thing I really have to work on composing wise is vocals, and that's been going okay. Can't wait to write the metal album I've always dreamed of, about the hate I have for normies.
>>36045406
don't totally abandon classical, anon. even after I've spent all of my "professional" career playing folk, I always come back to classical because it's what my father started me with. It's good to remember your roots.
>>36043695
>moving to nashville in fall for uni
>know friends who live there and play instruments and love hardcore music
>only play piano but i consider myself a good lyricist and have the right vocals for hardcore
>uni has an underground music studio where we can record for free bc it trains music tech majors
>also have a friend in art school who could make good cover art
>tfw my dreams are finally coming true
>>36045144
Just finished up, might be a bit of recency bias, but I think the best track was the last one
>>36045454
Yeah, classical will always be there for me. It's just that right now I need to study rock as much as I can, master the techniques and the sound. I want to try and incorporate as much classical technique as I can in my work too, since I find a lot of rock lacking. They even skimp on things like voice leading.
I still play classical lines on guitar too. It's a good way to practice reading music.
>>36045557
Thanks, glad you liked it! I enjoy making comfy music, and I think that one is top comfy. And I'm glad the album ends on a good note, thanks again for checking it out!
