You are the Courier, self styled "Executor" of your newly created Phoenix Enclave of America. A father of six and a father of a nation, you have applied the scientific forges of BigMT towards the research and technology beyond the wildest dreams of other men to make your vision of an America Reborn a reality. Both Big Mountain and Alien Science have been your tool, as you invent new power sources, new Virtual Reality training programs, new robotics facilities, and expand the reach of your robots as you probe into other lands for more resources. Even the ability to fly is now yours.

But as always the wasteland is a dangerous place. The Divide, a treasure trove of reources and fissile material, is held firmly by a desperate mass of Marked Men trying to fend off their own annihilation at your hands. The NCR looms to the west, and the Legion beats its war drums to the east. The world around you is shadowed by your isolation and distance, only now have you at last expanded the reach of your robots through the use of advanced radio towers. In such times, a botched negotiation with an affluent member of your community lead to an exodus among his servants, seemingly the result of greed, and in your efforts to track him down you ran headlong into the NCR. Face to face contact with them reveals much has changed among their nation, but through diplomacy you have both agreed to a peace. For now.

All the MK2 Securitrons have been upgraded to the Mark V series. Conferring VASTLY improved combat abilities to all. As an added bonus, scrap steel can be spent as a free action to turn them into the Hazard Series conferring additional armor.
During battle, you can choose to apply the MKVI Beserker program safely to a select number of bots. These will even further increase their combat ability, but render them into mindless berzerkers set on killing all in sight. A terrifying weapon.

“Did you know that another word for kitchen maid in the mid-15th century was ‘slut’?” Kururi raises a finger, “In a way, it could be called a ‘slut café’.”

“Wow,” you loudly cough, “I don’t think that’s something you should say out loud.” Cautiously, you eye the maid café room behind you, wondering if Usagi, Kaori, or anyone else heard that.

“Maybe, maybe not, who’s to say?” she says, giving you a sly smile as she walks down the busy school hallway. Her hair hangs down, hiding an eye. “Sorry for being late.”

“It’s nothing,” you say. You two walk down halls, surrounded by a hushed din of murmurs and mild excitement. “You know, it bothers me.”

“Hmm?”

“The festival lasts for a whole week, and it takes on the weekdays. As if I’m taking a break right after the year just started.”

“Ah?” Kururi thoughtfully stares off, “I don’t think that way. Two days for us, two for Nishishio high, and one for the both of us. Fair, isn’t it?”

“I feel like there’ll be all too many problems involved...”

She speeds up and turns around, stopping in front of you. “That’s the small details. How scary, you remind me of me,” she says, “I thought—just for today—we’d forget our problems?”

You probably have more of them on your hands then you can count.

The Raiders – Part 22

Your Cadre, as you asked, is ready to travel almost at once. Each of them possesses an extradimensional container of some sort or another, where much of the personal items they may need are stored. You're no exception of course; you have always preferred to travel light, though. Self-reliance has prevented you from falling into a variety of bad habits you have watched others indulge in.

The Silver Swords transfer the knowledge of the lair's location into your minds, along with the territories nearby. The greatest difficulty is always the same: arrival would ordinarily place you anywhere from a few to a few hundred miles from the Lair itself. As a result, making the Lairs deep beneath the ground is the most expedient method of getting there accurately. It usually ends up with many suffering from painful injuries as their bodies attempt to materialize in solid rock, but it is far better than arriving in the open and attempting stealth to get to the Lair unnoticed.

Especially on the back of dragons.

The ability isn't entirely natural to your species, of course. The development of the ability to project oneself from the Astral to the Physical entirely is innate now, but the method and secrets of how it was hardwired into the githyanki body or mind are lost secrets. Or at the very least, secrets that are well kept. Those spellcasters and gish of a more philosophical bent argue over the source of the ability indefinitely, but the only one who might actually know....well, seeing Her Majesty up close has a way of changing a githyanki. Assuming they survive the experience.

The Guild of Acquisitions has dispersed, flying throughout the Conclave and delivering the forked metal rods that will allow you to focus upon the correct material plane to commence the Raid upon. While not strictly necessary to use the ability to shift to a material plan, the possession of such a rod guarantees that one will not end up in a different material world than one's brethren. The inherent difficulty of selecting one particular material plan to invade is the duty of scouts; building a fork to guide the raiders to the correct realm is another part of their job.

You most likely aren't the first to wonder about creating a rod unseen and untouched by others, you imagine, but you can't help but wonder at that very thing once more as you take the bronze rod with tips of colorfully banded agate in hand. The rod resembles a tuning fork, used to make the sound of an instrument a specific tone as you understand it, but greatly enlarged. The heavy bronze is warm to the touch, and you can feel the intense latent energies of the thing the pull that it generates through the Astral towards a curtain of flowing energies somewhere out in the Fundament. The prongs are tipped with cylindrical hooks of the banded agate, and lozenge shaped one covers the base of it.

You grip the soft metal firmly, though not tightly, and offer it to your companions as they rise from their seats or step closer if standing. They touch it, eyes closed, feeling the alien energies of the rod, attuning their minds to the sensation it imparts. They open their eyes and look to you, awaiting your first command as Leader on Dunzamn's Great Raid.

You are the TEMPLAR, a holy knight sent to clear the frontier of monsters and heresy!

"I though you said some guys from the Church were coming to help us out." Naru grunts in annoyance.

You nod in confirmation as you keep an eye on the road. You and your party had left the Fortress Monastery earlier in the morning and traveled into the thick, endless forests surrounding Eisenwand. Thankfully, there weren't many roads leading out of the city deeper into the Frontier, leaving only a few leading to smaller settlements like Aldenshire. It was all a matter of picking out the path where attacks were the most common. Morgan picked out an almost perfect hide spot for you to wait in, while she ranged out to perform some scouting on her own.

You were tempted to follow her, but your poor showing last time convinced you otherwise.

"Don't worry, they'll come!" Nino assures her, petting Romulus. "Valentia's mom seemed like a really nice person!"

"You know, you talk about that kid's mom a lot but you never actually told me her name." Naru squints.

"Oh! I never said that?" Nino frowns. "Well, it's Solana!"

And that's when you note Naru's face go absolutely white. Were the two acquainted somehow? Then again, they were both clerics...

"I. Cannot. Be. Seen. By. Her." Naru wheezes.

"Why not?" Nino tilts her head curiously.

You tilt your head curiously as well, completely in sync with Nino.

"We got a past, okay?" Naru grumbles and looks away. "I'd rather we don't meet again."

You awaken to the sensation of drowning. You have no idea how long you’ve been out, but opening your eyes you see nothing but the pale grey of webbing and the faint glow of purple beyond. Aside from your breathing and the occasional ruffle of whatever it is you are trapped in, you hear the skittering of legs and chittering of mandibles.

“Hmnnnn I wonder if the little hatchling is awake.” You hear a deep, male voice trail out and the feeling of a clawed hand gently tracing down your abdomen.

“I would hate to displease the Mother and not adequately….prepare...her champion”

As you approach the heavy wooden doors, the guards give you a cautious glare. One of the guards clears his throat and yells

"Hold, sir! Disarm yourself!",

gesturing with his thumb a chest by the castle wall. With you arms outstretched, your four squires unfasten [r]your velvet cloak, chained cuirass, sheath, and sword[/r]. The squires carry the items into the chest, and you flash a raised eyebrow at the guards. With the guards pushing the doors for a grand entrance, you enter the halls of the chamber.

Two figures turn around to face you. The first, you recognize immediately as your uncle. The last you've heard from him had been via courier about two weeks ago, urging you to meet the king at his palace of Adderlund. All you know of your uncle is that he gifted his all his inherited lands to your father and travelled as a companion with the King in the Great Demon Wars thirty years ago. Now he enjoys a comfortable life as the King's primary Advisor, and the two remain very close friends. His proposition to you those weeks back is the very reason you are in this chamber.

That leaves the second figure to be the King. Not your king of course, but a new, powerful king who saved these recently conquered lands from the Incursion thirty years ago, carving out a kingdom of his own. You only get a glimmer of his sharp green eyes and matted amber hair before you drop to a knee in respects.Your uncle's reassuring laugh eases your tensions, and you rise with the King's command.

"I will be brief, but bear my words carefully. It is my deepest wishes to host an order of knights willing to fight for the cause of man and purge the demons that still plague the land. Unfortunately, my body is plagued by the disease of old age, so I must yield ownership of such a fraternity. Your uncle has reassured me, however, that the next best candidate would be you! I have been told you still have your youth, ambition, devotion, and charm, all of which are no doubt valuable qualities for any leader of men! But before I can offer you this role in my good conscience, I must ask, for what reason are you here, sir knight?"

Dice odds for best of 3: http://pastebin.com/994WTT3g

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

Pokemon:
Gobble (Munchlax)
Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Roselia)
Dice (Croconaw)

Badges: 3

Location: Kaitwe, your house

Recently: You explored the woods, met some nice women, got into Herb's motivations, feelings, and frustrations, and got both of the girls.

For now.

The pale red light that emanates from the twin globes in the inky black sky does little to illuminate the landscape, you are practically blind as you run forward in the dark as best you can, but you mustn't slow. You have to get as far from your former Keeper's domain as quickly as you can.

Months it took you to plan you escape, or was it years? Weeks? It's impossible to tell, there is no rhyme or reason to the movements of the celestial bodies here beyond the Master's mercurial will, and you aren't exactly always cognizant of what's going on around you even if there was a cycle of days you could use to tell time. It was like waking up from a recurring dream, sudden bursts of clarity where you would realize that something was wrong, that you didn't belong here, only to forget as you slipped back into the fog. But the periods where you could think become more and more frequent, and progressively longer, until you were able to put together a plan.

And now you've done it! You've escaped from your Keeper. You want to shout it to the skies, but fear keeps you quiet. Fear that someone might be following you, that speaking your Keepers name might somehow call them down upon you. Even in your head you only dare refer to them as

>Who tends the wild

>Whose caress removes flaws

>Whose will fills the sails

>Whose might is the Pen

>Who knows without seeing

(Please note, that based on decisions made by players during your escape from Arcadia I will provide several options for seeming and kith as well as gender upon getting out of the hedge.)

There was once a young knight, who was to marry a beautiful and kind princess. On their wedding day, however, a dragon appeared from underneath the ground and stole the princess away.

The knight vowed to the king that he would defeat the dragon and return with the king’s daughter, before embarking upon his quest with nary but a blade and a coat of mail. The dragon’s home was far, it was said, but the knight was not discouraged, and claimed that he would return triumphant.

Weeks turned to months, and months turned to years. Still the Dragon’s lair remained as far away as ever; it had cast a spell so that all who tread upon ground would walk hundreds of times as far to reach its home. The years passed, and the knight aged. Along with his youth, disappeared his memory of the princess, the king, and all reason why he had gone on his quest in the first place. All he knew was that he pursued the Dragon.
“Forget about the Dragon, and stay here,” he had heard many times, but his mission could not be put aside. The knight continued ever onward, towards his hopelessly distant goal.

This was a folk tale that dated back to the times of Nauk Imperial, almost two millennia ago. Many endings to the tale have been told, but the original tale, strangely, had no such ending. Every contemporary writing of it ended with the knight’s journey far from over, with the conclusion to his quest nowhere within his reach.

You are Lieutenant Richter Von Tracht, officer of Panzers in the Archduke’s army. You remained such, even though you and your compatriots would be named deserter and traitor by most right now, excepting the schemers in the Intelligence Office whom had sent you on this uncertain journey.

It was for a good purpose, no doubt. Worth all of the risk and temporary dishonor; a mission to rescue about thirteen score of hostages from the clutches of savage eastern banditry, who had been holding them as ransom against invasion by your allies.

You had just slain their leader, one Selgess the Skull, and as could be expected of mercenary criminals, they abandoned their postings to begin a trek home to determine their new king, but your mission was far from over. You were to pursue these beasts home to their degenerate nation, and save these innocent lives; the most prominent among them being your fiancée, Maddalyn Von Blum, who had been snatched just hours ago.
After your victory over the leader of these brigands, his underlings had retreated, but pursuing them was not an option, not immediately. As much as it would have pleased you, chasing the Blood Suns through Valsten dressed as Strossvalders was far from a wise idea. Instead, the plan of the Intelligence Office demanded that you break southwards, and meet disguised infiltrators, who would aid you in preparing proper concealment and supplies for your journey. Your equipment would still unmistakably be of Strossvald origin, but Sosaldt’s arms market was such that, apparently, one could find just about anything there. So long as you wore the proper colors, no questions would be asked. Apparently.

You counted yourself quite lucky that you had to do no more fighting when you saw the telltale mark of an infiltrator; a black armband worn above Valsten’s plain khaki uniform. Your own vehicle was in little shape for a fight, having had its turret partially shattered by a heavy shell from Selgess’s landship.

The damage your tank had suffered had its own bizarre quality that you would not have expected from any other vehicle in your platoon. During a battle you fought in on your way to challenge Selgess, yet another heavy hit to the turret had been mitigated by some layer of meticulously engraved golden plate that had a strange creature living within it. Said creature had also repaired the damage that had been taken in short order.

Thusly it wasn’t too great of a surprise that, between the deep cracks that ran through the turret, deep black ichor was oozing out. Stein had been concerned about the tank “bleeding,” but you had seen such happen with Maddalyn before, and she didn’t seem to suffer very much permanently from it, despite how alarming it was too see at first. You hoped that it was merely part of a healing process; that your tank would, like before, reassemble itself.
>>
You at least wished that it would finish before you had to explain what in the world was happening to more than befuddled Intelligence Agent; you could fob off one with excuses about oil and lubricant, but more witnesses meant more questions, and the less of those the better.

Thankfully, by the time you were herded to a more discreet place to hide, the seepage had crystalized into a thick, flaky matter that, while still disconcerting to look at, was far more mundane looking than a bleeding machine would be.

You were all led into a subterranean bunker, which was full of plainly clothed people of all sorts; presumably a whole mess of Intelligence agents, inhabiting a structure not built for them at all.
A team of men dressed in stained coveralls had led your vehicles away, presumably to be repainted in the colors of the Blood Sun. It would likely be much easier since you had stolen one of their vehicles; nothing aided a disguise like a three dimensional reference.

You accosted the group observing your entry as soon as your tanks were gone.

“When will all this be finished?” you demanded of them, “I don’t have time to waste.”

“Calm down,” a stern, long haired woman who was dressed in clothes that looked more suited to a walk in the park than being worn by an agent of the Archduke’s Intelligence, although that may have been the point in its entirety. “Your quarry is not the type to cover their tracks. You do have background in basic intelligence gathering, do you not?”

It made you uncomfortable for this bunch who you’d just met to already know so much about you. “I don’t see why that excuses any delay.” You pointed out bluntly.

“This delay is entirely intentional, Lieutenant,” the woman snapped back, “Did you think you could follow them at an arm’s length and expect them not to notice? The further behind them you are, the better. So long as you arrive in East Valsten within three days.”

“Why? Are they about to join in on our lovely war here?”

East Valsten was, militarily speaking, weaker than Valsten in the land aspect, despite having comparable to superior naval and air assets. They preferred to fight on the defensive when it came to terrestrial conflict.
>>
“The Union of Free Valstener States is not blind to opportunity.” the woman explained shortly, using East Valsten’s proper name. East Valsten apparently laid claim to all of Valsten’s colonial states to the south, but you knew very little about the details to that; only that their ability to back up such a claim was rather moot, as the Great Gales had closed away the southern sea lands during the civil war itself, and that after less than a decade, the Great Gales had closed the gates once more, leaving only enough time for the colonies to indeed state their alliance to the “Union of Free Valstener States.”

“And if the Blood Suns decide to take their time?” you challenged, heated.

“Then you will have to make do.” The woman said curtly, her lips tight. “I do not like the tone you are taking with me, Lieutenant. Perhaps I do not look like it, but I outrank you. You will not speak to a Major in the tone that you are currently using.”

“…My apologies, m’am.” You bow slightly, “What would her ladyship the Major have me do, then?”

The woman curled her lip at you, “Your personnel will rest in the barracks, for now. You and any other wounded personnel are to accompany me to visit the Doctor.”

Welcome to the first chapter of Medieval Fantasy Conquest. This is a quest combining medieval fantasy literature with turn based strategy games. Defeat your enemies in the battlefield, engage in diplomacy, develop your economy, and conquer new territories.

Before we start the quest, let us briefly discuss the quest mechanics.

This is a turn based quest with a new turn taking place every 15 in-game days. At the beginning of your turn, you’ll receive taxes from the territories under your control. You will also receive a limited number of action points at the beginning of your turn.

The action points received at the beginning of the turn can be used to train your soldiers, develop your territories, recruit new officers, and make other important strategic decisions. The number of action points received each turn will be increased as you capture more territories.

The amount of taxes received each turn depends on how many territories you control and how economically developed those territories are. Gold collected from taxes can be used to hire new soldiers, research new technologies, and even bribe enemy officers into switching sides.

The loyalty of your subjects and officers can greatly affect the amount of taxes received each turn. You can raise your tax rates, but higher tax rates can lead to unrest or even open rebellion in that territory.

Each year is divided into four seasons - summer, monsoon, harvest, and winter. Each season consists of 90 in-game days and 6 player turns.

The quest takes place in the continent of Mediva. The continent of Mediva is divided into 12 territories, currently ruled by 8 different factions.

In the northwest, the forestlands of Dvernik are ruled by House Sarkan - an ancient clan greatly loved by its subjects. The fertile kingdom of Haliax has historically been ruled by House Lanre - but its king was recently assassinated by a bard with red hair. The earldom of Steerpike is ruled from the vast but now decaying castle seat of House Peake.

In the southwest, the Kingdom of Endor consists of the great city states of Caemlyn, Belgrath, and Narina. While each of these three city states have their own lords and administrative systems, their rulers are sworn to aid each other during times of war.

In the northeast, the ancient kingdoms of Melniboné, Valyria, and Sarnath have formed the Triarchy of Falconia. A mercenary commander simply known as the Griffin of Light was instrumental in uniting these thousands of years old kingdoms and now serve as the lord protector of their Triarchy.

In the southeast, the sinister kingdom of Karkosa is nominally ruled by House Robardin, but rumors say that dark cults are the ones pulling the strings from the shadows. The mountainous regions of Cimmeria are ruled by the nomadic barbarians of House Kull. The small kingdom of Ancrath is ruled by House Thorne - a relatively young noble family with a dark reputation.

The densely forested lands of Dvernik are currently ruled by Lord Richard of House Sarkan. For centuries, House Sarkan has ruled Dvernik. Most scholars consider this long reign to be fairly peaceful.

However, Dvernik is still economically backwards in comparison to the territories of the southeast. Its forestlands are also less fertile compared to the farmlands of its southern neighbors. Dvernik's location at the northwestern edge of the continent has further diminished its trade prospects with other territories.

Further northwest of the borders of Dvernik are dark forests yet to be explored by the men of Mediva. Singers claim that the erl-king holds his fae court somewhere deep in the forest. On midsummer nights, nymphs, satyrs, aes sídhe, rusalki, and other queer creatures are said to be found dancing in the forests beyond Dvernik.

Modern scholars however find such stories and songs to be little more than children’s fancies, propagated by uneducated singers, and believed only by the most superstitious of peasants. There is no place for fae stories in this age of fire and steel.

In recent years, bandits and raiders have become increasingly frequent in the countryside. Several villages have been pillaged and burnt down - the men brutally murdered, the women and children often violated. The raiders are suspected to be foreign soldiers from the kingdoms of the southeast.

Richard Sarkan, the current lord of Dvernik, is said to be a gifted swordsman. However, he is as of yet untested in battle. Nevertheless, the common people of Dvernik greatly respect and look up to their young lord.

The southeastern kingdom of Ancrath is currently ruled by Prince Willam Thorne, a man known for his cunning and ruthlessness.

Ancrath is one of the youngest kingdoms in Mediva, its brief history mired in violent regicides and bloody civil wars. House Thorne is only the most recent of noble houses to lay claim to the broken throne of Ancrath. Nearly a century ago, the last king of the previous dynasty was brutally tortured and murdered at the hands of his steward. The steward and his bloodline also perished quite painfully in the subsequent civil war that followed.

After decades without a king and a series of brutal conflicts, the kingdom of Ancrath was finally conquered by House Thorne. The Thornes had little to no claim to the throne in terms of bloodline, but they had the most soldiers and were willing to be the most brutal in warfare and the most devious in politics.

Prince Willam Thorne has proven to be even more ruthless than his predecessors, mercilessly suppressing any dissent to his rule. The commoners of Ancrath have little love for the Thornes, but fear has kept them in line since Willam took the throne.

It is said that the souls of those killed in the war still haunt the countryside of Ancrath. Ghouls, revenants, shamble-men, and worse come out of their shallow graves when the heavy rain washes away the dirt. The more pragmatic men however give little heed to these stories. They say that there is little to fear from the dead, it is the living that one should fear in Ancrath.

Past the southeast borders of Ancrath lies the endless desert known as the grey waste. No man of Mediva has ever crossed it, and it is said that demons and worse haunt the place. Old cities built by non-human reptilian races are supposedly buried in the desert, their sinister inhabitants still lurking in the shadows.

Modern scholars however attribute these stories to the tall tales invented by adventurers who came home empty-handed after trying to cross the waste. They argue that such old cities might have once been built by the older races of men, but it would be ludicrous to consider any such city survived to this age.

Willam Thorne, the current prince of Ancrath, is said to be an excellent rider and a very cunning man. But he has a dark reputation in both Ancrath and its neighbors for being callous and ruthless. The economy of Ancrath has yet to recover from the civil war, yet the taxes are still as high as ever. The common people of Ancrath are suffering, but few dare to speak out against their prince for fear of torture and execution.
