Like barrages, the waves of the Hardinan Ocean smash against the hull of your ship , "The Rotund Maiden", a simple trading vessel shipping goods from the shores of Zuman to the land of Tade, you are Izah a sailor on this ship, a simple worker. You worked on this ship for many a year to terrible wages set by your employer Maku, a trader from Dagma one of the harbor towns of Zuman, and Captian of " " The Rotund Maiden". Where you too were born. Not knowing where or who your parents are you were raised in an orphanage like many other parent-less brats. After reaching 16 you were tossed onto the streets.
You are currently on your way back to Zuman from a successful trade trip. Maku sits in his chamber counting his money while you and the rest of the crew slave on the deck of the ship.
Suddenly upon the horizon you see a large ship approaching you, it seems to be following you and coming closer and closer. The rest of the crew however doesn't seem to be bothered by it. But you don't know why but the ship concerns you.

>Alert the Captian

You drop a crate near a few sacks of spices and make your way hastly towards the Captians Chamber door, and knock on it
After a few tries you still can't seem to get an answer, the ship draws closer and a few more of your crew members are taking notice of the ship closing in on your vessel.

Hello again fellow creators of /qst/. After a well deserved pause, I'm here again to continue our journey into the Regional Evolution of our Moon Worlds. This thread we will be visiting the Ocean Habitats of Rienia.
As GM, I'll do my best to actively work on phylogeny charts to track the evolutions, and also make random events for the world to drive evolution down new paths. Since this is the first time I've done EvoGames focused in a Regional perspective I'll be experimenting with how I approach these threads for better viability later on. When this thread reaches its conclusion, we will officially bring the Magedivatian Era to a close for Janus and Rienia.
How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.
• Details indicating what the generation of your species is important. Please indicate. (Base Organisms are Generation 0)
• Details regarding a creatures size or name are encouraged, but not required.
• Nothing too outlandish. Anything silly or derailing will not be considered a canon species 95% of the time.
Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"
• Try to make your evolutions gradual and realistic in biological standards.
• Everyday I'll add an update Phylogeny Chart to track changes. These take awhile, so please be patient.
• Expect a Random World Event at least once per thread to shake up the world and game.
• There will be no Mass Extinction Event in the near future, so enjoy building and evolving to your hearts content.
• When this thread reaches its endpoint, there with be Celestial Event impacting both Janus and Rienia.
• Have fun
New to the Game?:
• Don't be shy. If you have an idea for an organism and want to spend the time making it, please by all means do so.
• We also have a Discord to keep you up to date on EvoGame activities, and chat with other folks and myself. https://discord.gg/kk8eJgJ
• Work on an Imgur Gallery to track evolution and provide up-to-date info on each world is still on-going. It will be posted soon. (TBD)
• There is a Blank Template that you can use to make any organisms you wish to make for this game below.
• Just a note, while it doesn't matter how intertwined your organism is with the rest of ecosystem, the more dependent it is on the existence of other creatures, the more potential your organism has to survive.
The Description of the present Rienia, Setting, and, and more will be posted in supplementary posts.
Previous Threads for Janus and Rienia: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Lunt+system
Present Setting: As Rienia enters the Late Magedivatian Era, another tectonic shift shakes up the flow of life on the Moon. This latest shift in Rienia's tectonic plates has helped to fully establish the global thermohaline circulation of the world's oceans. As a result, the planet begins warming a solid 2°C releasing much of the land and sea from the cold grips of the ancient ice age of the Sulioaic Era. With the oceans now being interconnected by a global current, marine life throughout this era is able to easily migrate and take hold in many of the niches of marine habitats that have for so long remained relatively depleted in biodiversity. From the continental gulfs and the warm shallow seas around Rienia's landmasses, to the open oceans, and the massive abyssal canyons carved into the black depths of Rienia's crust; life is plenty of room in these marine habitats to flourish and diversify in ways only you could imagine.

Regional Evolution Rules, Dossier for Organisms, and Blank Template in the next posts.
Blank Template will be on the last post I make. Attached here is Dossier for all the Marine Organisms of Rienia. Should tell you everything you need to know about each organism.
--Organism Advancement--
> Marine Organisms are allowed to freely migrate between each of the identified habitats.
> Organisms that can be found in all habitats are not discouraged, but are not too realistic in current biological standards. Feel free to make you case and prove me wrong though.
> Plant Organisms may be as large as the size 18 increment as stated here
> Animal Organisms may be as large as the size 16
> Carbon-based nutrients/minerals, along with Silicates, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Selenium, and Organic Compounds are now present in the environment and may be incorporated into an organisms diet/evolution if desired.
--Marine Evolution Rules--
> If necessary, specify which landmass/geographic area an organism exists in. (This is heavily encouraged, but not a requirement).
> An evolution that impacts the same organism throughout the whole region is allowed, but must be specified in your post.
> Organisms from the Shallow Seas/Continental Gulfs are the only organisms that can potentially live in brackish waters or be euryhaline.
> Oragnisms from the Open Oceans/Pelagic Floor are the only organisms that can grow to the size 23 increment.
> Organisms from the Benthic Abyss/Deep Seafloor are the only organisms that can have extreme lifestyles such as slow metabolisms, or unique dietary habits.
> Organisms from the Polar Seas are the only organisms that can be amphibious organisms.
> If you as a creator wish to establish the existence of a new ecosystem, feel free to specify this and post what organisms would belong in this new ecosystem.
--Additional/Misc. Stuff--
> The following geographic locations still need names. Feel free to give them a name at your leisure.
- Region 1,2, 3
- Ocean 3
- Sea 2 & 3
- Gulf 1 & 8
- Isles 1, 3 & 6
- Island 1
- Estuary 2
- Lakes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
> This is a one-man job I've been doing here for the most part. If you think and/or want to provide me with resources to help improve the quality of information we have for the worlds (Food Webs, Trophic Levels, Mapping of individual Landmasses, Etc.) this would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
> Fanart is also accepted, and low-key encouraged.
And last but not least. Here is the Blank Organisms Template. That's it I'm finished spamming the opening thread.
Enjoy the thread fellow creators, and I'll have the first Phylogeny Chart up in a couple days.
Your name is Haskell, son of Sven. A young Norse man of about seventeen, and heir to a family that has long since begun spiralling, and a farm that has been fallow for too long. A father who lost most of his hand raiding, a mother who took ill on a sickness brought back on the longships, and a brother who’s entire raiding party hasn’t been heard from in six months, presumed lost to the sea.
That’s turning around. A local priest explained the recurring dream you’d been having: prophetic in nature, a way for Odin to let you know you’d been chosen as a Paladin, a champion of his religion along with your three oldest friends. Unfortunately, neither Odin, nor anyone else of his pantheon can contact you until you find the mythical Atlas of the Conqueror. It was last held by Charlemagne, and is rumored to be somewhere on mainland Europe. That doesn’t matter so much, though. They say you don’t find the Atlas; it finds you when it thinks you’re ready for the vast responsibility it places on your shoulders.

You wake, early in the morning, stiff and sore from the training of the past two weeks of training with Knut, Anders, and Erik. Mostly working on cohesion, with you and Knut using your shields to cover Anders and Erik, who tend to forgo them.
All in preparation for tomorrow. You leave for Ireland, raiding along the western coast. You hope you only need to use these tactics against them, as the village crones have you dealing with an ancient vampire. The creature, going by Logan, is supposed to be in possession of some book the witches value enough to trade powerful magic for.
You rise, stretching the aches from your back and shoulders, and follow the smells of breakfast out into the kitchen common area. Danica and your father are out there, already digging into sausages.
“What’s on the agenda for today,” Sven asks you between juicy bites. “More training?”
“Maybe,” you reply, poking your own food with a seax before you move to a hand-made chair, across from your father. “I imagine there’s also going to be a lot house keeping to be done before we leave.”
He nods, too busy chewing to be bothered actually speaking his answer.
Danica watches you eagerly, waiting for a signal you like the meal. She seems very insistent on pleasing you, despite the fact that she is, by all accounts, a slave. Not that you’re complaining. A lot of thralls would be waiting to give you a knife in the kidneys.
It briefly occurs to you she may simply be hoping the poison finally works before you shake it from your head. The girl has kindness in her eyes, and it’s not like you mistreat her.
You father stands and leaves, presumably to check the farm, a grunt his only goodbye. Danica begins cleaning up, and you’re effectively alone with the whole day in front of you.

"Oh!" Stella says. "Speaking of running hot, I should make you guys some tea"
"That would be nice" You say.
"Do you have any bird cups?" Ava asks.
"Not here, but I should be able to borrow one from my neighbour" Stella says. "Give me just one second"
Stella hops off the couch, and strides out the door.
Once she's gone, Ava turns to you. "Your friend is weird" She says.
"Says the girl who checks if windows are open with her face" You say. "How's the nose feeling?"
"Not bleeding anymore" Ava says.
"You have Stella to thank for that" You say. "And you should"
"She broke my nose" Ava says.
"She was trying to be helpful" You say. "When Emi gets here, she'll be able to fix you up"
"We should have waited for her in the first place..." Ava says.
"You could have let Stella do it, you know" You say. "She's not an expert like Emi, but she seemed to know what she was doing"
Ava covers her nose. "But it hurt..." She says.
"It was never going to be a painless process" You say. "And your squirming didn't help"
"I know..." Ava says.

"But enough about that. We'll worry about your nose and your manners when Emi and Stella are here" You say. "What does a bird cup actually look like?"
"It's just a regular cup, but it's thicker and it has a little ring for my toe" She says.
"Do you need one? You were using the normal cup just fine yesterday" You say.
Ava shrugs. "It's easier" She says. "I almost burned my foot on last night's cocoa"
"You should have said something" You say.
She shrugs again "It wasn't that bad" She says.

"So uhh... I wasn't interrupting something when I crashed into the window, was I?" She asks.

>Long, long ago, in a time of dragons and bloodshed, there stood a lonely continent, established by simple people from distant lands. Upon their cultures, they discovered in an ancient forest a crystal of unspeakable power. They had worshiped it, vowing to do no evil in it's name, and bask in the power it gave from kindness. As such, they built a settlement around it, giving the crystal and their city 'Haven'.
>Soon, after decades of peace and prosperity, the yin to the people's yang had finally come. A band of misfits arrived from supposed nowhere. The world was unequipped for the sheer chaotic nature of their group, and after a single week, maybe two, the continent was torn to shreds.
>Disaster, however, breeds hope, and hope breeds innovation. Centuries passed, and the world began to see a new light grow in the remains of what was left. Truth turned to myth, and such error was nothing but an old man's delusion. However, there was one race that still remained more than ever.
>The dragons never forgot history, and in the wake of chaos, a war was fought between any drake in the path to power. Soon, only four Great Beings remained, split into the corners of unexplored territory. As such, they watched over humanity with keen eyes, waiting for time to end again.
>This is the story of the continent of Conquest, and a perilous group of young villagers, just 600 years later...

Mina, surprisingly being the voice of the reason somehow, says that they could've made the UB
talk and tell them where is the hideout of the king before killing him.
With no more clues about what to do, they try to find an ultrabeast village to acquire information.
According to Lusamine, some ultrabeasts like the good one that saved her a decade ago,
are against the king, and they might find rebels to guide them to the right direction.

>Try to find the imp before it turns in the report. If you're too late, immediately clock out and make preparations to kill your boss and take her place. That's how promotions work in hell right?
You take a deep breath and leave the COFFEE on the deposit tray. You'll be in some super deep shit if that IMP you trusted with your REPORT FORM reaches the HEAD OF DEPARTMENT. Madienhead isn't particularly fond of people who break protocol. The coffee is a secondary priority to not being demoted to stress ball rank.
You run back down the corridor, once again making sure not to bump into any of your colleagues - a mighty task considering how busy the office is today. You take two turns to the right and pass several other corridors on your way to the office of the HEAD OF DEPARTMENT. Your heart is doing extensive gymnastics in your chest due to a combination of running, a sedentary lifestyle and mild panic. If you don't find the imp in time, you're done for...!
Finally, after minutes of sprinting across offices and corridors, you turn a corner and notice the back of the IMP scampering towards the head of department's room, carrying your REPORT FORM! With a tiger-like lunge you jump forward and crash into the little fucker, sending it reeling to the ground. You immediately pounce on it, snatching the REPORT out of its paws and sending the both of you sliding on the carpet. You turn your little fists against the imp, banging on its skull with all of your (admittedly pathetic) strength. You hate imps SO GODDAMN MUCH.
"Give... that... back, you little... stain of shit! You skull-headed good-for-nothing rat! May the unclean birds pick your corpse clean! Phecum hugodat! Ackarode faſot! Y-you...!"
In the midst of your fervent swearing in the old demonic tongue, you almost don't notice one of your COWORKERS standing above you.
>What do you do?
>Think up a lie, QUICK.
>>1638633
>Think up a lie, QUICK
Your impressive cussing chain is cut short as if you just swallowed your own tongue as your eyes meet the sorrowful gaze of LEGIONNAIRE MORATHOX.
Internally, you utter a quick thanks to Lucifer. The security gargoyle is one of the few coworkers you have who treats you as his equal. Still, he's pretty straightlaced for a demon, and he might be curious as to why he just caught you beating the crap out of an imp on the corridor while cursing your heart out. Also, he might not like the real reason and you really don't want him to chide you right now, even if he would be right.
"Oh, Morathox! Hi! I, er, haven't seen you today yet."
"Hello, Acerparva." Morathox sighs somberly. His default mood is "slightly melodramatic but amiable", which is a step up from most of your coworkers if you ask yourself. "What did this poor imp do to you to earn such harsh treatment?"
"Oh! The imp! Don't worry, it had it coming. See, I was on my way to submit this form to Maidenhead, and suddenly this little pest skitters up to me and snatches it out of my hand!" - The imp frantically shakes its skull beneath you. You make it stop by discreetly stepping on its forehead. - "You know how imps are, and I had a stressful day, so I flew a little bit off the handle."
Morathox muses on this for a short few seconds.
"I see" - he speaks finally, fixing his piercing blue eyes on you. - "You seem tense in your entirety, now that I look at you. If you want to talk to me about your woes, I'm all ears. I figure it would relieve you."
‘There is no such thing as paranoia. Your worst fears can come true at any moment.’ With these words in mind you made it back to the church you resided in for now. After calming yourself, and hopefully your emotional energy, you took the most confusing and double backed way back to the church just in case you were still being followed. You ducked in and out of alleyways, weaved through crowds of people whenever you could, and occasionally checked behind you, all of this with your bible in hand just in case one of those monsters decided to show themselves.
There was no telling if that guy from earlier was going to keep trailing you after you failed to catch him. For all you know he could be reporting back to his superiors. There could already be an organization after you. You don’t know if the monsters knew of your activities, aside from maybe the Jiangshi from a few weeks ago.
You don’t think some random monster could piece together the plant monster you killed either, same with Nickole. Wait… Nickole! Was he one of the monsters living in your apartments? Now that you think about it, all those monsters probably knew of the ones among them, you’re apartment building might be colluding among themselves. Hell there might be an entire civilization hidden in plain sight. Anything could be possible with these… things. Do they have some kind of government? Are they aware of the church and your activities? Do they have some kind some kind of secret police force to protect themselves?
If there is some kind of enforcement are they going to come for you next?
Now that you think about it you wonder what is happening at your old apartment complex… You were the reason a lot of monsters lived there, could they be looking for you? Could they have figured out you are the one who murdered Nickole and that other… thing?
There are to many damn contingencies in this and you still know next to nothing. This is frustrating you beyond belief and you barely know anything to put your mind at ease. Honestly you kind of wish that you never met that stupid girl and found out all about these monsters. They probably would protect their food source… maybe…
“Jack!” A voice breaks you out of your musings, Father Armand’s to be specific.
“Wuh?”
“You’ve been pacing back and forth for an hour, that is the fifth or so time I tried to call your name.”
“Oh, sorry it’s just…”
>”How organized are the monsters?”
>”There was someone following me.”
>”It’s nothing important.”

Some general info about the quest;
Please quote the post you are voting in, not really a rule but it helps me a lot
If you are changing your vote, please quote the original vote you had as well as the post the vote is taking place in, once again mostly for my convenience
All rolls unless otherwise specified are 1d20 and best of 3
When I say DC # it means that number is the roll you need to be successful, although getting close will not always mean a complete failure just not a success either.
Wait for the vote to be done before making any rolls

You will continue with the Cyberpunk Security guard Charles 'Charley' Chambers.
You've just found a bloody smear in the shape of a human at the bottom of an underground cooling tower, where you have been asked to investigate a fallen person.
Then you heard a metallic sound, and the last command was to look up, and to dodge.
So you look up.

and you dodge.
Zeldren, the ghost of an ancient warrior, has been captured and bound by the will of the Dark Goddess of Goblins.
A new soul stands though, above all the others in the neverending cycle of birth and death for monster kind. But what form shall they take?
>Wisp: the most basic form of undead, formed from those who have forgotten their past
>Goblin: short tribalistic creatures who are a common threat to villages
>Kobold: creatures descended from dragons, the resemblance is only passing
>Fairy: A race of magical beings that lived in a realm parallel to the mundane, they have since fallen into decline with the curse of the king and the shattering of their unity
>Dron: an insectoid race, a relatively new breed of monster that has arisen. Weather by the will of a new god, or from perhaps the taint from the dark lord, no body knows
>Slimes: the weakest members of the Outsiders, those who have only enough power not to die immediately upon touching reality.
>Imp: The weakest demon and lowest of the hierarchy. Commonly used as fodder or food by their much more powerful siblings, but still hold the distinction of being children of a god.
