You are trapped in a dark room and can only get out if you play one of the easiest games in the history of gaming franchises. Seriously, each area following the "chosen hunter" and his excessively buffed weapons from assorted game locations as he fights brainless enemies has been less engaging than the last. Aside from the handholding, the game's only consistency is providing you with absolutely retarded, unchallenging mobs and allowing you to run through all of them without any combative motivation thoughout the entire game. All to make the difficult feel easy, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when From Software voted to make the game a PS4 exclusive; they made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody. just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for the souls series. Blood(bore) might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Final Fantasy 7 in its refusal of challenge, skill and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the Dark Souls games were good though
"No!"
The enemies were easy; but the bosses were unfairly hard. As I played, I noticed that every time a enemy went for an attack, he spent an unrealistic amount of time telegraphing an attack.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every second the enemy stretched his arm back. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope a several dozen times. I was incredulous. Miyazaki's mind is so governed by outdated game design philosophies that he has no other style of challenge. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Bloodbore by the same Kevin-V from Gamespot. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Bloodbore at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to play Fallout New Vegas." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Bloodbore" you are, in fact, trained to play Fallout New Vegas.

The days of Pandora are unreliable at best. So, too, is your QM. Welcome back to Vault Hunter Quest!

>The previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/1314992/

>And a reminder of the rules:
>Roll low for combat.
>Roll high for social skills and loot.

You are Baal: former Dahl middle manager and current Vault Hunter. You have formed a rag-tag quartet of with other Hunters hoping to find a vault and stick it to the invading Hyperion Corporation. Your companions are Henrietta: The Gunbunny, Flora: The Siren Bounty Hunter, and Simeon: The Klepto-kinetic Rat. After a dazzling intro cinematic, you and your team managed to wander your way into the murdered town of Shin Splinter. The town itself is quite literally under the occupation of a massive Hyperion robot called TR1-UMV-1R8 (Triumvirate as you have taken to calling it). In the bullet-strewn streets, you learned of the painful similarities Flora sees in the devastated town to her own bloody history with Hyperion. You find the potentially only surviving citizen- a doctor named Pierce- who informs you of the patterns of the Loader patrols that prowl the abandoned buildings.

You have come up with a plan to lure out a group of using Claptrap as bait. His conditions for the plan are ridiculous, but you pretend to agree to them to ease things over.

----

"We don't really have a leader, so that point is moot." You tell him, "But I promise you'll receive loot equal to your output. Keep what you kill and all that."

"And what about singing my praises afterwards?" You reminds you.

"I make no promises." You state flatly.

"I can live with that." His digital voice sounds jubilant. "Where do you want me to set up?"

(Good Question. I have been swamped with art school and being the overnight manager for a certain fast food chain. I'll put up some character art for our Hunters here at some point.)

You think for a moment and answer.

"I need you to go all the way to the other side of town. As soon as you get there, patch into the Hyperion frequencies and grace them with your dulcet tones."

"You got it, mi amigo! They'll be so enraptured by my amazing dubstep talents they'll have no choice but to see me IN CONCERT!" Claptrap is really starting to get into this plan. "Little do they know that you'll be there to ambush them and get me out of there before they murder me!"

"Right." You say. His rescue really isn't in your plan at the moment. "Keep them... entertained as long as you can so we can sneak onto the Triumvirate and ruin their day. We can disable the Loaders from there. If you want to kill them while you're down there, that's more loot for you."

"A-Alright." He nervously laughs. "You can count on me, friendo!"

With that out of the way, you return to your compatriots and choose your ambush spot.

>Near one of the Triumvirate's legs.
>At the center of town.
>Right here.
>Back at the Van/Bus
>Somewhere else?

Hello everyone, hope you had a great johto independence day!

You are Gurie Niamic, just a few hours ago you decided for mothers day to call your mom.

Now you are currently in the head of a sociopathic Hypno fighting a animatronic Pangoro.

Okay that may be a little confusing so you'll explain.

See you are fighting the pangoro because you stole its Az symbol, which you did to uncover more about the Sons of Az, who are a criminal gang the hypno's a part of.

You are fighting the hypno when it attacked YOU because you were raiding a Unown ruin they occupied.

You are doing THAT because they evicted a giratina out of their home and your mom was looking for them.

You met the Giratina while touring the mountains because you wanted to have a good mothers day.

Honestly this is like basic cause and effect, pay attention.

You duck, the robotic monster crushing the stone mine that makes up the weird pseudoride you are in as the beast roars, sparks flying off exposed wires.

The pangoro bot is very crude, you don't know if that means the memory is fuzzy or if its just monstrous even to hypno. Probbably the later since Pangoro has type advantage over the hypno.

Your psionics might not work since a pangoro is fighting, but this is a robot thought so maybe the types screwy. Or maybe you can call a pokemon out.
Plus you can probbably outrun it.

Congratulations! You are a professional GRAVEDIGGER! You work for a small time LICH! However the ECONOMY is in DECLINE, so your LORD AND MASTER has had to downsize his employees.

You, yes You sir are left! Don't you feel lucky?

You have:
-A magical bag of holding bodies
-A collapsible gravedigging shovel. With one flourish of the wrist it extends from devious trench knife size to up to six feet in length.
-Common black clothing, suitable for a noble grave digger or worthless peasant.
-A compulsion to serve your MASTER. You are totally in his thrall!

What is your compulsion?
>I come from a long line of Gravediggers. I serve my Master according to Tradition
>I was an adventurer once. That is all I know before the icy psychic claws of my Master freed me from the memories of my past. My will is bound to him through aching mental chains.
>I was a thief once. I stole his phylactery. He stole my soul.
>I am a mutant. I was driven away from normal society. Well that and they didn't appreciate me hobnobbing with ghouls. Master has a non-discrimination policy.

Having a famous parent can be a real bother, especially if they're an evil ruler of the realm. You'd think being the son of the wicked queen of the borderlands wouldn't be so bad, but all your life she's coddled you and prevented you from achieving your own greatness! Finally though after many years and on the cusp of adulthood, you took matters into your own hands and escaped her loving clutches! Absconding with some valuables and friends, you fled from the lands in control of your mother to strike out and make something of yourself, to stand on your own two feet.

And so after some month's of freedom you've come to Dowen Belda, the domain of the elves, particularly the forested region. In a snap decision though, rather than the haughty pointed ears, you decided instead to find refuge among the orcs. They seem a good, strong bunch to throw your lot in with, and you've certainly earned your place among them in assisting with their problems. After some internal conflicts, resistance to your own orcish friend becoming the chief ruler of their kind in these lands has been almost totally destroyed. All that remains is to hunt down the remaining resistance of a defeated group, return to the current home base and for your friend to proclaim leadership over the domain.

Hello there!

So it has been a couple days since last you left off. Previously you'd dealt with some traitorous other groups of orcs and such and were organizing an effort to pursue the remaining whom retreated from the conflict. The other roughly half of your amassed force were returning to the little town you've been calling home, in order to introduce themselves and join up properly.

Your friend Ravnette is now the best candidate for the role of chief, both from her role in subduing the other orcoid groups around (with your significant help) but also because of her relation to the great orc Khan. As such she's been quite busy tending to proper matters of her rising to power, like seeing and meeting fellow orcs and the like to pledge their support. As well, planning the effort to hunt the remaining resistance. You meanwhile have helped her however you can, but mostly have been dealing with a group of bounty hunters sent by the evil queen to capture you. Your efforts against them though just enough, managed to sway their loyalty and you've gotten to know one in particular as well as meet the rest of her group. In relation to this though, something in particular has been jumping around in the back of your mind, towards the blessing upon you of potentially more than one god. A rare thing indeed, but you and most others have little understanding or idea what it could truly mean.

In the meantime though, it's about midday and the group plan is to separate this late afternoon, for half to return home and half to go on the hunt. The last preparations are being made, but you were ready to go after waking up this morning. How you proceed now is your choice.

"I hope so. Stay safe, you two!"
"We will, Mom."
You give her and Dad a hug before teleporting down to Syreth, spooking a nearby castle guard.
"Hey, Aisha. Did you have fun?"
You walk up to Kasai and give him a kiss.
"Not as much as I could've. But yeah, I did. Me and Ash had some nice bonding experiences."
"Good to hear! So I bought us passage earlier... It's not exactly a cruise, but it should work well enough."
You nod in approval. You've been on ships before, this shouldn't be an issue. And hopefully there won't be any weird monsters.

Last time on undead quest we began our establishment as more than a low level vampire. We gained four powerful thralls total and began our shadowy assault on the Black Cats holdings in the town of Sverelfan.

Thrane the Vampire-Greater undead.

Spells-
Deathbolt lv2: inflict more damage or attack multiple targets
Soul harvest lv2: grab an enemy and pull their soul from their body. Increased effectiveness.
Soul drain lv1- drain the soul from one enemy at range. Difficult against powerful opponents.
Thrall control lv3: control up to 10 thralls without strain.
Leech- grab an enemy and drain their lifeforce to bolster your own
Dark master lv1-with the application of a bit of blood and your magical power, control a living thrall with absolute loyalty.
Shapeshift lv1-take on a human appearance. Will dissipate if damage is taken or encountering silver, sunlight or holy idols.

Notable mutations-
Vampiric might-much stronger than a normal human.
Lords stature. Your body is massive, conferring bonuses to strength and durability
Bonescale hide-your skin is pebbled with knobs of bone greatly increasing your resistance to slashing weapons.

Minions-
1 Risen- intelligencex2
1 Revenant- speedx4
1 ghoul- Damagex2
1 Bonewarden- Durabilityx1

>Summarizing here.

The Mage clenches his fist as arcs of crackling white energy grow between them. His teeth are visible in the shadows of his hood, clenched in effort as he gathers his power for a spell.

The gangmember facing your Revenant charge, expecting to bowl over the thin undead. His face twitches into a cruel smile as his form blurs, steel forming a Grey shine in the air as he whips the edge through them a dozen times over. They fall to the ground, less in pieces and more in chunks, blood spattering wetly across the floor.

You step forward, hoping to subdue the mage before his spell is ready but a bolt of errant energy from his hands drives you back, scorching the flesh of your arm as you hiss in pain. He mouths arcane words silently, his eyes glowing faintly as his spell reaches its crescendo.

*THUNK*

The spell dissipates, energy fading into the air with the stink of ozone as the mans eyes roll up into his head, his hood falling back to reveal a bald head with swirling, erratic tattoos and a large bleeding gash on the back. Your Revenant hefts his large, jagged table leg over his shoulder, smiling viciously

In the year 1986, crime in America is at an all-time high. Criminals, drugs, and guns flow into the country from everywhere in the world, and the gateway to it all is the coastal paradise, Heat City. On the neon-soaked streets of this beating heart of scum and villany, you can get whatever you want -- if you can pay the price.

You are Johnny the thug, and ever since you agreed to take one small job for the Bratva, your life has gone sideways. One thing led to another as you made enemies of one half of the city's underworld, then the other half. With the help of some new friends -- Alex the enforcer, Nick the thief, and the Yamada family -- you went all-in and led a daring heist on the Triad's skyscraper fortress, Dragon's Nest. It went great until you got shot and fell off the roof, twenty-five stories down.

With luck or fate on your side, and the help of your friends, you survived to tell the tale. But you haven't forgotten that someone out there has been playing games with you, pitting the city's criminal syndicates against each other with you caught in the middle. You're going to find out who it is, and make them pay.

"Hello, and welcome to the evening's broadcast, listeners! You're tuned to RK1 Radio, where we keep you informed on what shit is about to hit what fan in our city. And as we all know, there's plenty of shit to go around. That's why we're also bringing you the greatest hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s: to help you forget all that troubling murder and mayhem, three minutes at a time.

"Speaking of murder and mayhem, that bloodbath at the parking garage down in the Grove still has the cops stumped. Considering the target was that big street racing gang tied to the Yakuza, I think we all know who's responsible. The Twin Dragons, the Triads and Yakuza, are on the ropes, and the Russians are taking full advantage of the opportunity. Clearly this is their latest hit. But is anyone surprised that an HCPD investigation into a Russian shooting isn't going anywhere? Whoops -- Rachel's giving me that look, listeners. Sorry, Rachel. Let me be clear that in no way am I implying that our city's fine police force is colluding with its most powerful gang. That would be wrong."

"Before I say anything else that'll make the Commisioner want to put me away, let's get to the pop music! Here's a little something from across the Pacific: Junko Yagami with Bay City."

The wind blows through your hair from the open window as the car rolls down the highway. Relaxing back into the rear seat, you rest your arm on the windowsill, enjoying the cool breeze in the evening heat as you watch the palm trees pass by. Glancing across the back seat and the dark interior of the car, you see Catherine staring into space out her window.

The woman has been through a lot lately, you think. Her whole world is crumbling around her. It started when her father betrayed her and tried to kill her. And somehow it got worse from there.

It culminated most recently with her nightclub being shot up, and the whole attempted kidnapping thing, where she was only rescued because of a particularly dogged and stubborn bodyguard -- you. Her brother was kidnapped in her stead, and lost an eye for it. Despite all that, she keeps going, a strength of spirit belied by her physical delicacy.

Catherine opens the compartment between you and withdraws a pack of long cigarettes. Her elegant fingers seem to move confidently enough, but when she flicks on her lighter, you notice the flame shaking.

You:

>Light the cigarette for her.
>Let her do it.
>Light your own.

And talk to her about:

>What happened to her.
>The new place she's moving into.
>What's left of her organization.
>What's left of her family.
>Something casual.
>Something poetic.
>Nothing. Give her some space.

The Void swallowed you whole.

You stand among solid ground in a void of grey mist that stretches on so far you know not if you eyes are playing tricks or if the mist around you only grows so dense you cannot see through it. The only thing you can see in the void is the likeness of a single ghostly visage. It floats before you, near to ten feet in height with a skull carved into its inky black flesh. Perhaps it's the demon of your sins, here catching up to you far before it expected to. At the moment, it is silent, though comes to loom over you in interest as your once unconscious body finds wakefulness again.
