You are no sorcerer, blessed with magic without the need to learn, nor are you a warlock, trading a soul for the easy path. And yet you don't have any formal magical education. You've been self-taught, learning from spellbooks and textbooks at your own pace. According to the law of the land, you can't call yourself a wizard. You're a Magic-User.

You start talking to people who might advise and friends as well, you come up with a plan. The plan is quite simple but will require a lot of time, hopefully it will work out sooner. You plan to use the resources given to you by some governments and try to create a place, a safe haven for all those who want to become a part of the new world of Corvex. Things that will workout in order, first you get refugees in a safe place, build more facilities to support them, bring in all the help you can get from various countries, this includes military. Once that is done, you start to make sure that all those things are secure. In the meantime while that is happening, you're looking for areas to build a base of operations. You're looking at a few islands at the moment but also plan to expand yourself at the sea. Having an island state will dramatically improve your security levels and decrease the chance of invasion, only downside is that if your enemies plan to use nuclear weapons against you then your state will not exist anymore, however the chance of that is very low since you hold many technological advancements. Even though being small countries, Iceland, Greenland, and Ireland are willing to let you build everything on their land, they are even planning to form themselves as one whole country if need be. There are also rumors about some of the states in the U.S plan to join you while cutting off them off from the nation.

Your research facilities are working with many allied countries to form a new type of weapon, a low energy, low cost and high damage weapon. It will be a type of laser beam that can pass through many objects and burn or melt opponents. The issue right now is form factor, those devices can be made but to make something portable like a gun is the challenge.

Residential facilities are coming close to capacity, so building more of them are underway. A lot of them are extremely intelligent people who are willing to work with, just do anything to help you out. The issue with so many people entering is that there is a potential for them to be part of Trident, so more thorough background checks are being done on those who are non Corvex personal. Matt is working on a A.I platform that will be able to distinguish who is who, the accuracy of such is a device is hard to determine and be very costly if the wrong people are not caught or are freed.

Trident is now becoming a dominant force in all countries who are against, they are even fighting as part of Trident. Trident forces are planning to forcefully takeover your facilities and even eliminate any who interfere. As of right now they are forming and planning a few attacks, not sure where it would be exactly first but it is coming soon. You get a call from Whizz saying that they plan to attack facilities in that are not as secure and the attack will take place in the next three days.

How do you stop the attack from happening?

What is Space Conquest?

A light strategy game with elements found in 4X games, mixed with a whimsical space exploration theme. You are general that is part of a Homeworld Council of other generals and ministers (other players) that work together to conquer the other four (heretical) civilizations.

The next post will contain a tutorial explaining the basic concepts and core mechanics of the game, with some additional info that you should take into consideration. Don't worry if it might sound confusing or complicated at first, I will do my best to help you figure it out during the quest.

Please note that this quest is a test flight to see how the current iteration of game rules will pan out. Relax, have fun, and feel free to post your opinions about any aspect of the game you think is great or needs improvement in the meantime. Feedback is appreciated. Depending on how things go in the upcoming hours and hopefully days, I will do my best to improve the game for a better experience in future threads.

Your name is Tarren Tanzer and the spit hits you just below the left eye.

“Should have done what we told you, Tanzer. It’s almost like you can’t follow simple fucking instructions.”

The saliva trickles down your face, mingling with a deep lesion in your cheek. You move to wipe it away but Bronson spots your movement and clicks off the safety on his laspistol. It hums menacingly as the power cells heat up.

“Don’t try another thing, wash-up. Or has your ego not gotten you in deep enough today?”

You clench your dusty racing gloves into fists, causing your oversized forearms to bulge inside the too tight confines of your body suit. You’d wring the life out of this thug, if only you had the chance.

Bronson looks right into your eyes. His tone shifts to mock sympathy.

“I honestly don’t know what you were thinking, Tanzer.”

Behind him, a beam crashes down noisily from inside the establishment previously known as the “Leggy Blonde Bar and Inn”. Flames shoot high into the desert air, framing Bronson like an aura of evil power.

“I was thinking a diversion might be a good idea.”

The corner of Bronson’s left lip pulls back and his lips split apart into a yellow toothed grin, parting a sea of greasy stubble. The smallest dust devil you’ve ever seen whirls around his leather boots, just a few feet from your face.

“I hope you don’t think I’m mad, Tanzer. I ain’t mad at all. You know as well as I how fucking dull it gets out here. That’s why the boss is such a gambler.”

“It’s not gambling if the results are fixed, jackass. Maybe Old Grimm should be thanking me.”

Bronson wheezes, humored.

“Grimm doesn’t know how to appreciate the ups and downs like I do. He just wants to get the losers out of his system as quick as he can. That’s why I’m here.”

The thug gets down on his knees next to your face. His breath is worse than the beating.

“You, you’re lucky Tanzer. I used to be a big fan of yours, back when you were on the Ring Circuit. Even bought tickets once.”

“I’ll sign them if you let me up.”

“Ah! You still think they’d be worth something? You choked, Tanzer! You choked!”

“I… it was sabotage.”

“Sabotage! And sabotage is why you never won a professional race after that, I bet. You’re fucking scum now, Tanzer. But because I’m an old fan who can appreciate the ups and downs, I’m gonna let you take one last ride.”

Eyes locked with yours, Bronson casually signals the pilot of the Yurijet and you hear the fans of the e-turbs whir to life. The links in the chain around your legs clink together as the slack disappears.

“Any last words, ‘Thunderbolt’?”

The commerical starship Proteus 739 has crash landed on the planet Vega Prime after an assault by space pirates.

You and two others have somehow survived the crash in your escape pods. Fortunately, the planet Vega Prime was one of the planets made habitable several hundred years ago in the Great Migration. Unfortunately, it is a rimworld, disconnected from the core planets and therefore under only loose regulation from the Coalition.

It doesn't look like you'll be getting out of here anytime soon. Might as well make the best of it.

You were a professional chef in one of the core worlds, working as the ship COOK. Before that you were a FARMER in one of the medieval rimworlds. You were noticed by one of the Earls in that world for your skill in cooking and given formal culinary training to serve as the Lord's cook.

As you emerge from the escape pod, the other survivors stumble out into a harsh arid desert. One of them is 6 feet tall with rippling muscles and shackles on his arms. The other is a sprightly young girl, no more than 17. You note that her left arm is made of fused steel and plastic.

What do you do?

You have longed to leave the orphanage for as long as you can remember. Feeling the carriage shaking under you as it moves towards the mansion where you are probably going to spend the rest of your working life, you feel no relief or happiness though. Your hands are clammy, your heart is beating just a bit too fast, and you have that tickling sensation in all your limbs as if you were looking out from a very high cliff. And most inexplicably, you feel homesickness.

It comes to you like a sudden slap in the face: You will never see Pierre or Aurèlie again, the only friends you have ever had. Neither will you ever have to fall asleep in a room full of snoring teenagers, which, as much as it has been a bother, is also everything you've ever known. Never again will you mop the wooden tiles of the orphanage kitchen until your hands are sore either, and who will read the newspaper out loud for old François now, the nearly blind man who always sits with his dog at the cafe across the street?

You are barely able to keep yourself from crying. How did you even get into a situation like this? It had been a day just like any other, not long after your 18th birthday. You were sitting out in the sun eating a croissant when a blonde, rich, immensely beautiful girl came walking down the street. She looked so beautiful in her huge, light blue dress with crinoline; an umbrella open above her head to protect her from the sun. Her hair looked gold, and she smelled like the bakery on Easter day. You wanted to be her friend so much it hurt. Of course that could never be. When you were told the same evening that she had specifically asked for you when she came to find her new maid, you had thought yourself the luckiest person alive. On you way now, you weren't sure.
