Welcome, various anons! 'm Vox; you may know me from Dungeon Life Quest, my first and only quest to date. To test out the new board for myself, I'm running a side story that takes place elsewhere in Dungeon Life Quest's setting. This side story will feature rolling. When votes are concluded and a roll is called for, I will roll a D10 with modifiers for your condition, equipment, and environment. Should be easy to understand once we get going. And now, without further ado...

You are Jack the Lesser. You've tried to shake the nickname for most of your life, since well before you became an adult. You've been knighted, commended, had feasts and festivals thrown in your honor, and you're still 'the Lesser'.

Not that it's all bad news, of course. As the son of Jack the Dragonslayer - not to mention your own accomplishments - you get great treatment just about wherever you go. Free meals, young men and women swooning at your feet, better prices at merchants, the whole nine yards.

Today, though, you'd cut off your left nut to be anyone's son but your father's, or at least to throttle the old man for not telling you that he fucked a crazy sorceress and knocked her up.

"ALL FOR YOU, JACK!" her voice shrieks, through the maze you're trapped in. "I DID ALL OF THIS FOR YOU!"

Gods. Why is this your life?

Welcome to Domain Master thread! This is a collaborative role playing experience for a few people to tell a story together. There is no GM per se, but instead you will create your own Domain, and be it's lord.

Once a few people have created their Domains I encourage everyone to begin "playing". Try not to do actions all the time, give other players a chance to catch up. That being said if 2-3 people are active in the thread then please keep it up. The "rules" for actions are:

Less than a 10 on a roll is a critical fail, where you do not succeed at the action you were attempting, and in fact must take major penalties. Come up with your own but try and be fair, don't just say “Well one of my troops tripped and broke his nose!”. Critical failures are extreme, massive parts of armies being killed by an ambush, a magical spell backfiring and blowing up wherever the mages were, etc.

11-30 is a fail. The action you were attempting does not succeed. The lower the fail roll the worse it is, but not on the same level as a crit fail. In a fight and roll a 25? Maybe you lose a soldier and the enemy loses none. Roll an 11? Maybe you lost 5 instead.

31-90 is a success, following the same rules as fails, the lower the roll the 'worse' the success is.

91+ is a critical success! Not only do you win the fight or whatever else you want to do, you get bonus stuff! Maybe the clan you were trying to persuade to join you was richer than you had realized, or had a magical artifact for example.

You get bonuses to rolls from your minions, broken down as follows:
>Mooks= +1 bonus per 5 mooks
>Elites= +1 bonus per 1 Elite
>Lieutenants= +20 bonus per Lieutenant
>You= +25 bonus
These only apply if the minions are relevant. Your bonus only applies if involved in the roll, e.g. you are using an attack or casting a spell. If you send merchants to another domain or neutral ground you don't get your bonus.

Perks give a +1 if they are relevant. This is a flat bonus, so even if you have 400 mage minions with a frost empowerment and you want to do a spell having to do with frost, it's just a +1 (However, you would also get a pretty hefty +80 from having 400 mages. Wait, where did you even get that many? Calm down, man).

The last thing you remember is logging onto the computer, like any other time of any other day. When you pulled your browser up, it had been a solid blue screen with a bit monster in the corner. Confused, you hit the close button, yet to no avail as the window persisted.
The bit monster walked across the screen like a loading bar, slowly coming to the center, and then looking at you. Its jaws opened and extended from the screen. Too sudden to be surprised and too awestruck to know what was happening...

Regaining consciousness, you only know that you feel sleepy... very very sleepy... Until a textbox appears before your vision.

You are Prince Meirion auk Gwyrren, the only sane man in a royal family with dubious concepts of strategy, justice, taxation, and governance in general. You have made it your goal in life to keep your family on the throne and your head firmly attached to your body.

Putting a mercenary army together is pretty simple, especially when you have subordinates capable of doing most of the work for you. It took only a few days for you to get the supplies you needed and recruit your soldiers, at which point you moved them to the Rosean border by road and ship. Vetting them wasn't too difficult; it seems Prince Aled already deployed his own people to execute whatever his plan is, so he doesn't have any left to infiltrate your army.

The mercenaries and soldiers don't know why they've been hired, nor do they know who you are; you, Olwen, and Myrddin wear masks most of the time. Myrddin spread some rumours that this is an affair between nobles, so your soldiers should twice before asking questions.

Of course, you can't accomplish anything from Gwyrddarfordir's side of the border. You need to get across somehow, but moving mercenaries across border isn't easy at the best of times, and it's going to be even more difficult if there is some sort of war brewing.

"I chose this place as a rallying point because Prince Aled's forces didn't come through here," Myrddin says. "That means the Rosean nobles on the other side of the border either oppose him, or have chosen to remain neutral. In either case, we can use that."

"I'm not so sure," you say. "If they want to maintain their neutrality, they might rebuff us."

"In which case you'll just have to find a way to talk things out," Myrddin says. "And if they are sympathetic towards whoever we're supposed to be fighting against, they'll make our lives easier."

"Either way, we need to make arrangements before we march the army across the border," Olwen says. "You'll have to go negotiate yourself."

The polite thing to do would be to go with only a few guards, meet the local noble, and convince them to let you cross. It might take a few hours longer, but it'll also make things easier on your supply lines.

The fastest approach, however, would be to convince the border guards to let you through without giving them time to contact their lord. If you don't mind coming off as an asshole, you can bring your army along to lean on them a little.

Your name is Owen, a 20 year old guy and suspended student of THU. In the meantime you've gotten a job an apartment in the small coastal town of Diamond Shoals. Having been here a few months, which as a popular tourist destination is already months more than most, you've gotten a rough feel for the town and its people.

Having gotten off work from your job as a cart pusher for the Mega World Mart in town, you've made it back to your rather small apartment situated above the bookstore in the closest thing to a downtown. Changing out of your work clothes and into something more casual, you check your phone to see it's about four o'clock in the afternoon. What do you do?

RECAP:
You are a mech called Autobots Assemble, but more commonly known as Arcee. After befriending a mech named Moverlord when he picked you up after you got your brain hacked, the two of you went on a quest to catch the hacker. After dealing with a crazed shareware Seeker who tried to steal some presumably important info, you found out from a friendly pawnbroker that the mnemosurgeon you're after is named Craniotomy and the data you hold is information on a mnemosurgery cult's members.

The psycho hooker's brothers then engaged in aerial combat with you, and after some breakneck stunts Moverlord (with at least a little help from you, you guess) defeated them.

When you found Craniotomy's hideout, you descended alone into the dark Kaon underground. Craniotomy faced you first with a remote-controlled amalgam of the mangled bodies of the two Seekers. After a tense and ugly battle, you caught up to Craniotomy himself, where you learned the true purpose of the cult - to operate and hack brains unhindered by any sort of moral or legal boundaries, in order to push the limits of mnemosurgery. You also learned why he hacked you in particular; when he tried to steal the data, you chopped off his hand, rendering him useless as a surgeon. Finally, you learned you were working for a group called the Iaconian Protection Force, to take down this cult.

Seeing how down and out Craniotomy was prompted you to adopt him and keep him around in case he proves useful. Now the three of you are on your way to Iacon.

Let's get this show on the road already!
