Hark!
The brazen bells of midnight upon the darkness toll,
But sleep, life's custom agent, won't take from me his dole;
Down paths so many follow, death would my spirit lead,
And death, when all considered, resembles life indeed;
While in my heart the balance does level stand between
And neither to the one, nor to the other lean.Welcome to the Monster's Ball. It always starts at midnight. Enter a name on https://en.shindanmaker.com/497807 and join in! Welcome to our danse macabre.
In the late seventies through the early nineties, drug violence in South America only continued to escalate. A successful revolution by the IRA in Ireland encouraged similar revolts in central Africa that devolved into decades-long civil wars, and a USSR faction in the Russian government. Human trafficking for both the organ and the sex trades exploded between south-east Asia and eastern Europe. In the face of such chaos, government run militaries and agencies were too caught up in red tape to be effective in combatting these threats. Traditional armies abdicated their throne as international super-powers, and turned it over to the world of private military contractors.
Thirty years later, the private military industry is a widely accepted fact of life, a necessary evil for the security of the world. While many people in the civilized world resent these men for what they represent, they are also aware that they need them, lest the world fall into the hellscape that it was once again.
You are Jan Kowalski, a Polish special forces operator turned private military contractor. In return for cash and other liquid currency, you, and men like you go places national militaries can’t, and that local police forces won’t.

Last time, on Contractor Quest: You got yelled at by your HR rep, chose a mission, explored the base a little, did some training, and bought some new equipment.
You pack your duffel and make your way to the airfield. The plane is already there, running as if it were waiting for you. Tiffany, your handler, is there chatting casually with three other HR personnel, and waves as you arrive. As you step out of your vehicle, you see a tall, well-built man with his hair in a bun walking up the steps to the small private jet, carrying a black duffel bag similar to yours. As you walk up to the plane, Tiffany breaks away from the group to meet you, and another heads for his car.
“Hey, Kowalski,” the purple-haired desk jockey says as she meets you handing you a thin manilla envelope. “This is the mission dossier, full of the mission briefing, known intel, and where to meet the contact. Devin is already here, and the other two should be showing up soon. Got any questions?”
>Do you have any questions for Tiffany? She will be able to answer different kinds of questions than your teammates will on the plane.
>>111967
Anything I should know about my teammates on this one?
“Anything I should know about my teammates that they might not tell me themselves?”
She seems to roll her answer around in her head a bit. “Devin, the one already here, avoids alcohol like the plague. He’ll appreciate it if you don’t offer him drinks or anything. Jordan, one of the guys about to show up, has some ‘holy avenger’ thing going on. Not preachy or anything, but sees it as his duty to punish evil. Kinda comic-booky, that way. He and Skyler are thick as thieves, and if Skyler didn’t hit on me so much, I’d swear they were gay. That’s about all I can think of right now, though.”
You thank Tiffany for her time, and get on the staircase to the plane. You turn, and see a sleek black motorcycle pulling into the airfield, and a Hummer checking in at the gate near the entrance. Probably the other two, then. You duck in through the door, and see the large native american man getting his bag squared away before he sits. As he turns to face you, you catch a glimpse of three long scars running down the side of his head into his face, the rearmost of which looks like it took most of his left ear off. He flashes you a smile and a small wave, and takes a seat.
You do a similar series of actions, and as you sit down yourself, the two Rangers, you met in the bar the other night walk onto the plane. You realize, rather ashamedly, that you never exchanged names. They recognize you and give you a wave each before settling in themselves.
The pilot does the typical pre-flight announcements, and you take off. There’s quite the flight ahead of you, and you’ve got time to kill.

Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkword creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.
They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.
You... are not one of them. You are a transfer student. There was a bit of a mix-up.
>Previously on Dark Gate Academy...
A group was formed in order to hunt for the Human-like Darkworlder. On your first mission, you managed to get a name; Alice.
"Come on Akio, you owe me one."
Akio crosses his arms and shakes his head. "No way. Satomi? A nerd like that? With a guy like me? You must be out of your mind. Do you have any idea what that would do for my reputation?"
You knew this wasn't going to be easy. But you agreed to set up Satomi, the school nurse's creepy assistant, up with Akio, the most popular guy in class, on a date. In return, Satomi would promise not to let slip that you've got the same biology as a Darkworlder to the rest of the class. In a normal world, this wouldn't be an issue. Doctor-Patient confidentiality would be in full effect. But since you happen to attend the craziest school in the world, you'll have to comply with the whacko's demands.
You scratch the back of your head, trying to come up with something convincing. "Can't you throw her a bone? The girl really likes you."
Akio smirks. "Of course she does! Just look at me! Doesn't mean I have to date every girl who eyes me up!"
You groan. "Just the one date? Then we can be even for me helping you guys kill that giant goat monster thing... god, I'm angry that's a sentence that makes sense to us."
Akio raises an eyebrow. "And what's in it for you? Why are you so adamant about getting the lab assistant this little date."
"No reason. I'm just doing it out of the goodness of my hea-Okay, we all know that's a lie."
Akio smirks. Damn, you hate it when he does that... which is all the time. You hate Akio all the time. "So, what's your angle?"
Well, time to make something up. "Fine, she agreed to handle all of my schoolwork for the next month."
"Ha, really? Do you think she could do the same for me?"
"Yeah... sure, I'll add your work to that list," you mumble, waving a hand.
Akio nods. "Then you might just have a deal. We've got two safe days in a row, so I can easily take her out tonight, then dump her tomorrow morning. Pretty simple. Still..." he shudders, "I really don't want to spend time with a nerd."
You shake your head. "Dude, they're nerds... not lepers."
"Please, all those kids in the first two rows, bar Sayeka, are nightmares."
>They're not all bad, man.
>That's your problem. You agreed to this, can't go back on it now.
>>116976
>>They're not all bad, man.
"Just most of them."

Seriously we have people like Hiroand Saki. Though to be fair, baring Satomi, we haven't really met Reiji and Hikaru and Hoshi.
Perhaps that is on the to do list.
Coney is a being.
A simple being.
Coney exists within an endless stretch of bright grass dotted with the occasional town every once in a while. Coney's existence has just begun, and he is currently within one of the empty stretches of grass between the settlements. He has but a sword and an axe.
A fog surrounds him.
He begins his journey.
Post ending in 5 decides what awaits him in the mysterious fog.

Beat the weapons into plowshares just like Jesus commands.
>>119615
So...there will be weapons on the other side of the fog waiting to be beaten.

next post that ends in 9 will pick what awaits Coney in the depths of the fog
Oh shit nigger, you're a Necrobot Infiltrator in some generic post apocalyptic wasteland. Your mission is to use your wastelander disguise to, well, infiltrate settlements and what not to spread the glorious word of Cyber Necromancy and convert all you can to the Necrobots.
Currently you're wondering where to go first, what do you do?

Island quest
You wake up on an island
This is your island
You are the black dot
The green is jungle
The orange dots are the village, on the fertile brown soil
The Purple is the field which the village grows crops
The gray is mountain. There are openings that lead into the hollow mountain
The yellow is sand
The blue is water (ocean, lake, and Rivers)
The red is a volcano
If you find all the prizes of the dungeons in the caves, you can climb and enter the volcano with ease
Then you must go in the volcano and do shit
Then when you're good, you can end up at the small island and do whatever
Hell I'll even create new lands to explore
It'll be a series

And there you are. A young screw up of a knight. Kind of. You were originally a thief from the Kingdom of High Acre and you were stumbling along the road after a drunken bender and a night of debauchery to do some thieving when you found some old dude. He said something about divine intervention and the hero of legend or some nonsense but you saw a set of full plate and a bunch of money to feed yourself. Your bag wasn't big enough to store it so you put it on. He also left a satchel which was really worn out but glowing faintly. Plot twist: you can't take it off for some reason. His body all but dissipated, you can only remove the helmet and the crotch plate it seems. Bummer. What's the plan? I'll answer any questions posed but rolls of 7 or 5 determine the next course of action on a d10.

Go to the painted world to try and hit on priscilla
Take off your armour since you're a collection of cats
You wake up to find yourself on a small island, with an island to either side of you within swimming distance and one larger island in the center. Each island has a single tree.
You don't have any past memories, tools, or clothes, but there seems to be supplies on the island.
Now what?
I'll pick the reply I find best. Sometimes, I may ask for you to roll (Dice+1d20) to determine if you can complete the action or not.
Ignore the buttons on the bottom of the image, I'm on Mobile and the crappy app I use won't let me save to a folder.
Anyone?
I will try to cutdown the palm tree, but first i will pick the coconuts from its top

Roll 20 to successfully knock the fucker down with your bare hands.
Well, life is good. You got your iced tea, the generator's fixed so the trailer lights are on again. It's a sunny day out, and you're lounging in the chair.
You take a sip of iced tea, and just then there's a woman's voice from inside.
'Oi!'

THREAD 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
Previous thread here: >>74921
When we last left off, our hero (protagonist? super-pointy pixel-man?) had just discovered a mysterious hole in the second floor of the house he arrived in. I'll be starting this off with the last command from the previous thread.
Down the stairs.
You're now back at the foot of the stairs. Doesn't seem to be any sign of where that hole would lead from down here.
Would this be possible with other tilesets? Also, you have inspired me to attempt a similar quest. Do you have any tips for me?
>Throw something down the hole.
>>108984I don't see why not. I just chose to use a square grid for simplicity's sake, let's me pump out pages and story development quickly since I have pretty shitty art skills heh, but it should work just as well if you were to develop a hex grid or any other shape. I'd say just have a good outline for how you want your story to go, know what some places will look like ahead of time, maybe even design them too. Basically anything else is up to you, it's your story m8. Feel free to drop a link in this or any other pixelquest thread when you get around to doing it.
You run back up and throw another piece of the radio down the hole. The same slightly ominous sound of it impacting the bottom reaches your ears again. Might wanna be careful about throwing all these pieces down there. They may not last forever.
