- What is this?
My latest project. I've ran quests before, but I wanted to try my hand at writing something a little more outside my comfort zone, so pulp fiction seems like the perfect material to use.
- Is there a fixed theme?
Not right now, much like an actual pulp magazine, I'd like to work out through different themes and ridiculous antics with little to no connection to each other. That doesn't mean we won't play out in long-term scenarios, of course, we can play a long story of MARTIAN WHOREMONGERS for a couple months, but eventually it'll be dropped to be replaced with WEREWOLF CHEERLEADERS or something.
- Is this lewd?
Lewd in the way old-school pulp magazines were. Lots of (s)exploitation (And by that same line of thinking, Nazisploitation, baxploitation, etc. ) but I won't write anything overtly sexual or directly lewd. Mostly done for over the top and borderline comedic. Please don't confused this with LOL RANDOM humor or an excuse to include every possible kink except intercourse itself. I'm a good writer, promise.
I've two basic ideas ready and we can work out many more afterwards. Partially inspired by the ones listed as example (and also serving as a tutorial of sorts), I'll let you pick between NAZIS, HORROR or MAN VS. NATURE.
We'll take votes on character creation once we decide on setting.
System is very straight-forward. Roll a 1d20 + modifier. We'll get on that later too. For now? Decide on topic, ten minutes.
Nazis space race
I'm REALLY down for the first two combined.
We ain't do it for the man in the sky, no.
We ain't do it for the high and dry.
We ain't do it for the coin or pride, no,
We do it for the man beside.

Through the vidwindow you can see the pale speck, green-blue and white. A water world. You never liked water. You put your hand to the vidwindow, touching the distant glows, knowing that some among them have burned out, their light a relic.
"Cap, you still awake?"
"You need something Melon?"
"Naw, naw.. Just can't sleep"
"You want sedatives?" You reach into the overhead compartment.
"Naw Cap, shit gives me rashes. Last time I took one, couldn't even shit in peace from the itch."
"Well count sheep then private. We're a ways yet."
"Cap?"
You sigh. "Yes Melon?"
"You think the fightin's gonna be bad down there on Cravan?"
A shared question. With no answer.
"No Melon. It's all peachy pie. Now go to sleep."
"Yes Cap."
Melon slides back to his seat. You:

I always choose the highest number, dubs or otherwise. So I'd choose the best roll.

You are Prince Meirion auk Gwyrren, the only sane man in a royal family with dubious concepts of strategy, justice, taxation, and governance in general. You have made it your goal in life to keep your family on the throne and your head firmly attached to your body.
You ride up to Archduchess Aleksandra's main camp with Meuric auk Soryn firmly in tow as your prisoner. Word of your actions have spread in the immediate area, and while the Archduchess' forces were initially skittish at the presence of an unknown mercenary company operating in the war theatre, it was nothing that a few messengers and a promise to attend a meeting couldn't fix.
Not that you could put this off any longer than you already have anyway. Most of your army is still in a sorry state, and while you have supplies enough to get by for a long time, you don't a place to stay.
"Any idea what we should expect?" You ask Myrddin.
"From what I know of the Archduchess, she excels at warfare," Myrddin says. "It's a necessity of the Rosean nobility. The kingdom is immense, but there are regional and cultural enclaves that never quite became part of Rosea, so rebellions need to be put down every now and then."
"Is she like someone else we know?" Olwen asks. Your sister's name remains unsaid for the benefit of Meuric.
"Not as far as I'm aware," Myrddin says. "If anything, she's more like us."
"Hopefully, we can use that to get along."
The guards hold up their pikes and you come to a stop. Although they were expecting you, armed soldiers with masks are enough to make just about anyone nervous.
"Are you the mercenaries we've been waiting for then?" One of the guards asks.
"That's correct," you say.
"And that'd be the rat who raided our villages and murdered our people?"
"Also correct." You jerk on the rope you've tied around Meuric's next and pull him up to the tip of his toes. "I figured you'd want to get a good look at him before anything unpleasant happened to him."
"I'm sure the officers will," the guard says. "And for what it's worth, thank you for helping our folk."

To your left you see a clock reading 2:30 minutes, Its possibly a count down but you dont know if its a good or a bad thing but you will have to wait. to your right is a locked door with 3 keyholes shaped peculiar like a triangle a thin rectangle and a circle with a small square in it you look around and see a regular door. you look at the clock and it reads 0:48 minutes you still dont know what it means
>What do you do now?
Check to see if you have anything on you, including clothes, because waking up from unconsciousness in an underground room is not good. Fucking Pervs.

You are Sir Spooks-a-lot, the greatest skeleton"Knight" this side of the galactic plane and boy are your bones rattled, after "succeeding" your most important quest to slay an evil being who was trying to open a portal to another world. The good news was you slew it before she could cross the portal; the bad new is that somehow you were "sucked" into the whole in space-time while it was collapsing back into the void.
Now here you are sitting in the middle of a forest and you're ready to find your way home.
Luckily the voices in your head have never led you wrong.
>Now voices, Sir-spooks has his own mind but we can influence him a bit, the more the voices agree on one thing, the likelier our bonehead protag will listen.

Hello /qst/ards, welcome to Boat Quest! The three boats pictured are the very first boats that our ancestors created. From these boats, we have evolved technologically to master the seas and claim faraway lands in the name of our countries! In Boat Quest, you choose one island with one boat type, and every turn you either explore the world, colonize other islands, and eventually get kickass boats. I even have something for boat battles if you're into that!
RULES:
> At least one person in every team
> No limit on number of people in the teams
> You make one naval move, one non-naval move, and one tech move
> Valid naval moves: exploring seas, naval warfare.
> Valid non-naval moves: building island structures, researching non-naval techs, changing around island roles.
> Tech move evolves boat structure. You can edit a drawing for your change, or be a fag and make OP deal with it.
Warning: I've been toying a lot with this quest, and while I'm confident in some mechanics, this might turn into a complete clusterfuck. So consider this an alpha testing?
Going to dump boat/island stats and world map
>>120507
>leather coracle
Other things to know:
>Population increases +1 for every time a surplus reaches 10% of total pop.
>Every island will have different types of land with different food modifiers.
>People can't be used as cargo passenger cabin is researched
>Very long journeys REQUIRE MEAT AND VEG TO OCCUPY CARGO. Ex. Voyage out for two days, two cargo units are filled. Four days, four cargo units.
> Meat and veg in cargo doesn't affect surplus
>Max boat speed gets you one way to an island or halfway and back. All voyage must end in land.
>Boat techs must be reasonable, based on resources available and past techs
Jesus Christ do I know what I'm getting into?
You are Platon Provost, and you are past your prime. Your hair is grey, your back is tight, and the winter winds blow through you like a passing phantom in utter disregard of your many coats. You have served in the Black Hands for most of your life, then as an officer in the Duke's guard during your life's eve. You've pressed the flower with many a pretty young lass, and left a plethora of plump fruits dangling in your path.
You still dream of the first man you killed, as a young adventurer, although you have killed many more since with your accursed blade. But here, in the fortress duchey of Rossville, you have decided to end your days; To settle down at last. The fruits of your life grow large and strong from the love that blossomed between you and your final wife, and you know - before the children are born - that only one must inherit your curse.
The sword. Hefting at two and a fifth stone, nine and a fifth hands long, with twin fullers on either side. Old and well used but still sharp, it has lasted longer than any can remember, with a strange inscription inlaid in gold wire along the fullers on either end. 'NDXOXCHWDRGHDXORV'. Your calloused thumb traces the indecipherable script, a bare shiver in your liverspotted hands; You'd had wizards and merchants and wise men try in your many years, but none could tell you what it meant. No matter; You're fairly certain what it means now.
So: What to do with your children's inheritance?
>Give it to the Son when he comes of age.
>Give it to the Daughter when she comes of age.
>Sell it
>Throw it away
>Go on one last adventure
>Other? Write-in
>Votes called in ten minutes.
OOC: Welcome to Sword Quest: A first for me, based on a game I'd been running in RL. There are stats, but unless you really want to know what they are, they'll be hidden and based on your decisions.
Be forewarned; This is not an 'auto-win' game. You can and will die to poor rolls or poor choices. In order to reflect the lethality, every roll made by you - the players - will be matched by a roll by the opposing force, with the results averaged. If someone rolls high, it's probably best to avoid re-rolling less you drag the average down by accident.
>go on one last adventure
Because that's how adventurers work goddamnit.
Use it to purchase land far away from any civilization. Our children shall inherit a country.
I have a long and boring evening/Saturday ahead of me, so I guess I'll host a quest and see if it ends up becoming a series.

Welcome to the Domain Master collaborative quest, where the rules are made up and the stats mean nothing! This is a freeform-ish roleplaying thread for people to play as their own Dungeon Boss. Everyone's their own MC, so hop in, create your domain with the PDF to the left, and start playing.
The general rules we've been able to come up with so far are:
Roll a dice for actions. Less than a 5 on a roll is a critical fail, where you manage to actively harm yourself. Come up with how you fail by yourself, but be fair; don't just say “Well one of my troops tripped and broke his nose!”. Critical failures are extreme, such as massive chunks of armies getting slaughtered in ambushes, or a magical spell going nuclear &c.
6-30 is just a normal fail. Your action fizzles. The lower the fail roll the worse it is, but not to the same degree as a crit fail. In a fight and roll a 25? Maybe you lose a soldier and the enemy loses none. Roll an 11? Maybe you lost 5 instead.
31-90 is a success, following the same rules as fails. The higher the roll the better the success.
96+ is a critical success! Not only do you win the fight or whatever else you want to do, you get bonus stuff! Maybe the clan you were trying to persuade to join you was richer than you had realized, or had a magical artefact, for example.
Only the result of this roll determines whether you succeed, fail, or crit. However, you can modify just how bad, or good, your result is. You get bonuses to rolls from your minions, broken down as follows:
>Mooks= +1 bonus per 5 mooks
>Elites= +1 bonus per 1 Elite
>Lieutenants= +20 bonus per Lieutenant
>You= +25 bonus
So say you want to slay a dragon. You roll a 3. That's a crit fail, and it sucks. Ordinarily, something horrible would happen, like getting your legs bitten off. But you're attacking this dragon with two champions and, of course, yourself, and so get a bonus of +65, mitigating the horror and resulting in bad wounds, but not amputation.
These only apply if the minions are relevant. Your bonus only applies if involved in the roll, e.g. you are using an attack or casting a spell. If you send merchants to another domain or neutral ground you don't get your bonus.
Perks give a +1 if they are relevant. This is a flat bonus, so even if you have 400 mage minions with a frost empowerment and you want to do a spell having to do with frost, it's just a +1 (However, you would also get a pretty hefty +80 from having 400 mages. Wait, where did you even get that many? Calm down, man). -- That said, this has mostly been ignored.
All rules are subject to change as we figure out what does and does not work.
>>111354
Oh yeah, and all old players should probably post their domains again 'cause new thread. We may as well use this post as a rollcall, so reply with your domain to this post.

Ayyyy, someone finally continued the thingy!
Okay, so firstly: Should I repost my profile on here? Or is the link to the previous thread good enough that I don't have to?
Secondly, is it okay if we redo some of the things to make everything make more sense? For example, I had previously planned on Swag Dosh being just some random NPC Forgotten One that The Librarian had to deal with via killing a couple of his own troops to cull out Traitors, as well as stave off any direct forces of Eldritch Stuff that spontaneously intrude on his realm - as the Complication implies.
Plus: I feel that the idea of a common global threat getting cucked over by like one nation in less than ten minutes to be astonishingly ridiculous and stupid.
Plus: I feel like a couple of us - including me - have been looking at perks like Adaptation the wrong way - it should be more akin to "if you deal with the threat, you will gain the perk you have designated with it". Likewise, I would like to designate my Physical Prowess perk with the Adaptation Complication perk, and would also like further assistance on what the Complication means by a kingdom - whether it means a fellow player's kingdom or an NPC Kingdom.

Welcome to Nomad Quest v2. A lot of you seemed to like my first thread, so let's have another go. This time, I've got a pre-written story, and have made some adjustments to the formula.
So what do you say, anons? Let's have a go at this.
You're busy in the heart of downtown Houston, Texas.
It's been a long work day, and you're eager to head home. Suddenly, every single radio and TV starts playing the National Emergency Alert.
Sirens blare from every single speaker.
"We interrupt our programming. This is a national emergency. The following is transmitted at the request of the United States government. This is not a test. A nuclear attack is occuring against the United States. Four missiles have been launched from unknown locations and are expected to strike the United States within the next 15 minutes. All residents of the United States should seek out and prepare to take shelter immediately."
Well shit.
Your job, dear anons, is to guide our protagonist through this, both the blast and the aftermath.
Grab some basic supplies like food, water and a radio and head to the basement.
