You are Avaritia, Princess of Sin, wielder of the envious Vice Gem, and currently very lazy heir of Castle Golgoth.
After adventuring into the human realm, getting acquainted with the villagers of a small town and obtaining a potential magic tutor in the form of a witch named Rosemary, you'd decided that a little break had been earned.
For you, not your mindless servants.
There were perks to being royalty after all.
>Envy, 100/100
>Health, 15/15
However, simply getting a tutor wasn't going to be enough.
If you wanted to use the power that others could, you'd need a starting point, and right now that point was your Librarium. The massive repository of scrolls and spellbooks your Father had accrued, you'd been warned away from it by your steadfast caretaker Strix. But now you needed to be in there, you needed something to bring back to Rosemary.
A tutor wasn't much good without a text to teach from.
As it was, you find yourself flush with power and...

Today is the first day of summer! The heat in your room is unbearable and is imposible to try to sleep, almost as if someone set the NIGHT ON FIRE. Not completely unexpected from a summer night, but it is still more than you can bear. To pass some time you hop into your computer to browse DAVESLIST for a used car. As a someone in your early twentysomething you still don’t have a car of your own. School has consumed most of your time and energy and because out of laziness you don’t have a stable job, but working odd jobs and with an allowance, you have managed to save a small budget for your first car: around $4,000.
While browsing in Daveslist a few things catch your eye, such as a completely restored 1970 VW BUS, with an asking price of $35,000. Cute but really out of your budget. A clever title catches your eye: 1973 DATSUN 240Z NO TITLE NO PAPERS $250 OBO. As you click the ad, you see that the car is sitting on a field with no tires, and the ad clearly states NOT RUNNING. You think to your self that maybe with the rest of the budget you could have it running by the end of the summer, but you are unsure about wrenching all summer in your garage. Specially since your father wants you to go to college and become an auditor like him. You aren’t sure about that.
While he was still alive, your grandfather used to tell you stories about his time as a Navy Mechanic and how he used to be a car mechanic on the side. Sometimes he would take you to his shop and help him with his special costumers cars. You fondly remember the time you went for ice cream in an old MG Roadster he had and how the wind made your hair dance. You get a little sad about this, and think maybe seeing a convertible would be a good idea…
...
After hours of searching, you have a small list of prospective cars you would like to buy and all of them in your budget range:
> 1970 Datsun 240Z NO TITLE NO PAPERS $250 O.B.O
> 1991 Jeep Cherokee XJ Rock Crawler Off Road 4x4 4 door CHEAP $3900
> 2003 Honda Accord AUTOMATIC BEIGE LOW MILES $2700
> 1987 Toyota MR2 - MANUAL BLUE RUNS GREAT NO SUPERCHARGER $3500
> 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R RARE Royal Blue Purple Pearl! 5-Speed B14 SR20 - $2950
> 1980 Mercedes Wagon TURBO DIESEL MANUAL - $1300
> 1995 Ford Mustang Convertible - $2600

> 2003 Honda Accord AUTOMATIC BEIGE LOW MILES $2700
Old cars have a place, but kids need one that just works - we want to get from A to B, nothing more fancy...
We have better things to do during summer anyway: look into being an auditor like father, meet friends, pick up girls
Welcome back to Yet Another Cultural Evolution! This time, our tribes have started evolving from tribes to nations! National identities begin forming after the debacle of the prophetic battles, giving each of the tribes a sense of destiny! Will these nations now take a harsher control over their lands, and expand their influence and culture to their neighbors, or develop technologically and militaristically to subdue all who resist?
New Mechanics/Rules:
> Culture is better defined! The new culture sheets show how you can evolve culture through traditions, holidays, legal structure, education, etc!
> Techs will take multiple years to develop depending on whether other people have already discovered it, or you have the proper resources! This means NO GUNS ON TURN 5! In fact, if you prepare to make guns or any other weapons that take a shitton of time, you better plan for the resources you have!
> Did I mention resources is a thing? No more magically having clay when theres none in the mountains, or iron when theres none in the forest! If you want resources, you need to send scouts to find them, and establish towns and colonies to keep them!
> Updated Map! New Culture Sheets!
> New Populations! Population calculations are more dependent on food production (sort of!)
Next few posts will outline the nations individually and their starting populations, buildings, and culture!
>>147367
The Sky Tribe reserves its three-caste system only through the fervent worship of a powerful deity, the Sky Lord. The Sky Priests have in recent years decided that expansion is inevitable, and after receiving the Sky Lord’s graces, they are eager to send scouts to mine for materials stronger than their stone tools, and even find more uses for their invention of ‘gunpowder’…
>>147368
The Plains Tribe has grown and grown in population until various tribes have splintered off. Fortunately, the new shaman and chief managed to unite the various plains tribe, and some semblance of a nation forms! While there are many bounties to be excavated from the plains, the nation only has the river clay from their main city, as well as vast chicken and horse farms. How will the former plains nomads transition to nation building?

The Lake Tribe has been through huge political shifts in recent years. The defeat of the radical Hydra King disgusted them, and as a result the former views of the old farmer upper class is extremely controversial, and fishermen and farmers are not even independent professions, every man participating in both. All citizens begin to have smaller plots of farmland as population increases, and spends more of their time in the communal fishing areas. Their knowledge of mathematics and advanced farming practices gives them the formation of a structured society, and who knows how far they may advance in the years to come!

As you read over the words over and over again, you feel hopeless.
"I want to die right now..." You whimper, and from the noise outside you can tell your choice of words startled Lawrence.
"...c-can you...give me the pig's blood...please?"
From your spot on the ground you watch as the door open a crack. Lawrence stands with the white box in his hands, and a terrible knot in your stomach tightens. He's probably waiting to make sure you won't do anything.
All you can manage at this point is to sit up, your body attempting to fall over itself.
Lawrence kneels down and opens the package for you. Inside you can see the soft, pinkish-brown squares waiting for you.
"I'm a little scared to try th-this..." You say, the thought of pig blood turning you away. Yet you'll try human...
With your bare hand you reach up and grab a small chunk in your hand. Your body is shaking as you bring it up to your mouth. Is it from fear or need?...
You put the chunks in your mouth. They flatten and drain down your mouth. For a moment you gag. There's that distinct taste of iron but something else mixed in there...something awful...
You force it down. There's...there's not that wonderful feeling...
In desperation you force more of the cubes down, forcing yourself to swallow each one till you can't stand it any more.
...
There's that...slight tingle in your head...
It's barely anything...nothing compared to people. But you more then welcome the minuscule pleasurable feeling.
"T-there's a little bit...of it there...that feeling...it's not much but..." Your hands are shaking still. "I-I should pr-probably keep sleeping in the closet for now...till the morning..."
You once again find yourself laying on the floor of the closet, the coat balled up underneath your head and the blanket covering you. The slight buzz and the feeling of want make it hard to sleep. As you curl up you catch some of the lingering smell of Lawrence on the coat and shiver.
How...how bad will you become?...
Your father promised you something that he never got the chance to do or get before he died. What was it?

>How does this game work?
Honestly I had no idea what I was doing at first, but I think we've found our strengths and weaknesses by now. This is not a game where you will be crunching numbers. Neither is it a fast and easy game that people should just be jumping in and out of. Rather it is a slow game, heavy on atmosphere and psychology with open-ended choices that reward creativity, an attention to detail and the willingness to analyze and try to understand the weird characters you will get to know. It's not completely without action though. Once in a rare while you will be pushed into a corner and asked to make a decision that might end with permanent death and a premature Bad Ending. In that case, you will never solve all the mysteries of the Huxtable Mansion. We don't fuck around here. Did you think this was just a game?
>What kind of story is this?
It's a gothic, psychological slice of life thriller mystery with science-fiction, fantasy, alternative history and horror elements. Some would call this "slipstream", "new weird" or even "magical realism". There are is also an undertone of sadomasochism, but you don't have to be into any of it to enjoy the game. Finally there might be /u/ (yuri romance), depending on how /qst/ plays it. In short, if you like fuzzy feelings, angst and weird stuff like Lost, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Twin Peaks you are at home.

Also call each other Maidsters or something cringy like that, and tell all your friends and family about this. "I know you're usually not into 4chan, but you'll love this!"

The next morning, after your breakfast while looking at Mistress and ensuring you're alone - you decide to head out to explore the mansion a little while Mistress is asleep. You feel a little bad knowing that Miss Diana is even bringing you food just so you can sit with Mistress all the time. She might not want to bring you food after this if she notices you taking your chance while Mistress is unconscious to wander around doing whatever you want, like a rich child on a holiday. Hopefully you'll be able to get back to Mistress's room before Miss Diana comes back for the tray though.
You step out into the hallway and you're filled with fear. You've been told how easy it is to avoid the golem even if you should meet him though. Besides, according to Greenslade it should have been taken out by now. You begin walking around, exploring your wing of the house (the left lower one), and suddenly the confusion and dizziness you had before comes back. You stand still, trying to figure out why you feel that way. What if it's some kind of occult trap that will not let you get back again, have you walking the hallways forever? You should have thought about that before you carelessly went out on your expedition like this. Studying your surroundings you suddenly realize neither the floors nor the walls are even though. As you continue walking you realize that as you walk through the corridors you're slowly, unnoticeably moving down and eventually up floors. The unevenness of the hallways must have been what made you dizzy, and the reason you felt like you were walking forever despite the wing of the house not being that big is that you were actually moving among several floors - with the hallways almost unnoticeable tipping up and down. What a strange design.
You start trying out random doors. Most of them look like Mistress's drawing room, except unused. You also find a very big hall-like room, full of simple, steel bunk beds - almost like in the orphanage. Perhaps servants slept here when the mansion was bigger some generations ago? Finally you find a room full of paintings. Most of them hang on the wall, like in a museum, but some of them are lay in rows on the floor, against the wall. All of them are in the same style as the big mural by the staircase - depicting beautiful women killing in horrible ways. You find a very dusty, abandoned artist's workshop smelling of paint and oils too - and nearby a smaller library, filled with books about art. It seems like some relative of Mistress was an artist.
>>146474
By this time you start getting worried about finding your way back to Mistress's room and what Miss Diana is going to think. You just can't seem to find your way back though. You get dizzier and dizzier with the confusing hallways, and you keep finding more identical rooms - making you unsure of whether you're going in circles or if it's just more rooms that look almost the same. You do find your way back eventually thought. It's late in the afternoon by then and you're completely exhausted. It seems that Miss Diana must have thought you just went out for a bit, because she comes to bring you your dinner a little while later. Mistress is still sleeping peacefully and looks even healthier today. After you have eaten and Miss Diana has picked up the tray, you decide not to explore anymore. The hallways are scary enough at daytime. Besides you might get lost and not be able to find your way back before bedtime. It's best just to stay with Mistress.
*magic sound effect*
[Your physical shape has increased by 1 (one) point after this exhausting ordeal.]
Before sleeping you think about tomorrow. You have three more wings in the house left to explore, which will probably each take you a whole day. You might also want to explore some of the things you saw today closer, like the room with all the paintings. Still, you feel like you want to take it easy tomorrow - practice English, martial arts and first aid.

BUILD WALL
We meet and open up trade with, several Mycenaean City-states, such as Athens, Sparta and especially Corinth.
Due to the trade with them, we manage to get a hold on some of their written knowledge, which seems to be booming, especially in the fields of Mathematics and Philosophy.
Our exchange of Mathematical knowledge greatly benefits both sides, especially ours since the Greeks have a strong focus on Geometry, a sub-set of Mathematics we neglect time and time again.
In addition, we are researching our own domesticated animals for further insight on how they behave, how their bodies function and how they can benefit us in different ways.
This new influx of knowledge forces us to expand our great Library to store all of this additional information in.
Teaching our populace the basics doesn't work anymore, so expand the time for Unwed and Childless Women to stay in school from 1 to 3 years.
Men have to attend for 8 years, in addition, Men gain the opportunity to reach for higher education.
Naturally, this higher education is expensive and barely anyone can afford it, but the few who can are sure to contribute to the Sciences and increase our knowledge of the world.
This Higher education can only be taught in the Great Library of Thumim itself, thus a new building is erected right next to it - the University of Thumim.
Thanks to all this knowledge and our increased variety of tools available, we managed to undertake an enormous project.
We started the construction of an artificial River , flowing out of Lake Achilles into a reservoir in Thumim.
After nearly a decade of construction-work we succeeded in safely extracting water from the Lake without the Reservoir overflowing.
This has caused a boom in the city , and it grows to unimaginable size.
Our Empire, which previously had a rather stable Population of around 1 million People, has more than doubled, due to this project.
There are currently 2.2 million people living in our Empire , more than half of which in our Capital alone.
Meanwhile, our friends the Medes have risen to become quite prominent in the eastern steppes, and word has reached us from the Mycenaeans that a small Kingdom in Italy called Rome, has recently established itself, after defeating, but not conquering, the Etruscans, a tribe of Barbarians we never heard of.
As Italy is way out of our sphere of influence, we decided not to engage with this Kingdom.
As far as we know, Italy has nothing to offer we don't already have, rendering trade pointless.
What are we going to do now?
I know there was a big pro/anti west debate, but I'm voting for sending this letter, and if people support me- so be it:
Our kingdom wishes to offer Sparta military assistance for overthrowing the remaining Greek faction, establishing their power. They shall in return, owe us one favor themselves.
Guy, we can afford a war, and we NEED a guaranteed ally in the west.
>>147085
Nigga why do you insist on shitting on the entire vote we had?
Don't mess with the greeks.
>>147067
Hm, I say we begin expanding a little bit more upwards, to gain a stranglehold on the Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea, It'll help solidify our trade and make us even more valuable trading partners.
Trying out my first Quest Thread, hoping that others love monsters, questionable moral codes, and psychological horror as much as I do. All art is drawn by me.

The fetid stench of stagnant water seeps into your very soul. Your brain screams for you to rouse from your involuntary slumber. Darkness yawns around you, with a bright gash of light filtering into the cave you seem to be inhabiting. Your body is currently resting on a soft mass, stinking water covering your legs and hips. The stink of death has bled into your skin, you're going to smell terrible for days.
Lifting your head is a task in itself. Your skull feels like it's full of lead weights and your neck complains from having held a particularly awkward angle for so long. The harsh light at the opening of the cave makes your head pound and eyes sting.
You have no possessions, and you find that you also have no clothing. You don't even properly recall who you are, just that your last memory was running away from something large. Was that hours ago? Days ago? You are uncertain, and the frustration makes your headache worse.

You're a Cave Hydra, big and mighty. But now you find yourself to be quite exhausted with this whole 'siege' and 'army' thing you're doing. And while at first you had no one to bother about this fact, you've ran into Vulpes; The one who dragged you into this.
To sum up what you had to go through would take a little bit. But now you have some time after slaying this oversized, armored blue insect, whose corpse is still twitching right in front of you after being squashed. Vulpes himself appeared after jumping out of a window, holding one of the Gold and Blue dressed humans in his tiny jaw. Much to your surprise, his owner is nowhere to be seen.
"So, Cave Hydra. Enjoying your time spent here? Nothing can really tire you out like this!"
