Whitaker Schnee made his dynamic entry! He perfectly balanced responsibilities to his family, and especially his twin sister Weiss, with thwarting assassination attempts on his life!

Unfortunately, the road to Beacon Academy, a place the twins had been looking forward to for months, had many stumbling blocks on the path, culminating in a violent encounter with- His own sister?! How did you manage that?!

TODAY:
We take the first steps into Beacon Academy and our lives as a Huntsman!

“... It is up to you to take the first step.” You might want to consider hiring a leadership coach for Professor Ozpin. That speech was terrible, and you had only heard half of it. Ms. Goodwitch began listing exactly what was expected of you all in the next few hours but finished before you could tune her out.

The students begin to disperse. Some of them are already claiming spots to sleep in tonight, but most leave to explore the campus. “What do you want to do?” you ask Weiss. You should probably let her take the lead, she’s had it rough so far. She shrugs at you.

“I’m not sure. I don’t know where anything is. You’d know more than me, Mr. ‘Sneak Out and Spend a Hundred Lien on Bullets.’” Great, she must’ve checked the account after you left to grab your stuff. You were hoping that, with everything else, your impulse buy could scrape by unnoticed. She doesn’t look that mad, though. Maybe Weiss considers it unimportant by this point.

You start to think of how to pass the time, but before you can go beyond “Walk somewhere and look around,” your concentration is broken by a voice calling your name.

“Hey, Whitaker!” The call comes from a small bundle of red dragging a much more reasonably sized bundle of yellow behind her. Ruby’s waving at you, and you hesitantly wave back. Where is this going? She grins at you and turns to her companion with an air of smug satisfaction.

“Ha! See? I told you I know them!” The taller girl rolls her eyes a playfully tussles Ruby’s hair, to a squawk of protest. “And you were worried about meeting new people.” You could hear the grin in her voice, if the one on her face wasn’t enough to clue you in. She stops tormenting the smaller girl and practically struts towards you. The extended hand almost breaks your sternum with how much force she puts into it, but it’s not the most vicious handshake you’ve had these past few days, so you smile and grab it.

“Hi! I’m Yang, and you already know my little sister.” Little sister? That explained the size difference, but how had she gotten into Beacon Academy early? Or was Yang a late entry? You’d almost believe it with how mature she is, but your mother taught you not to stare. “Whitaker,” you strain to say. Why does your hand hurt?

You look down and see Yang has your hand in a vice grip. You look back up and see her friendly smile take a more competitive, challenging tone. You squeeze harder, which she returns. The escalation continues until the two of you have locked the muscles in your arms into position. You try to get more power out of them, but you’re at your maximum. The pain is unbearable, but Yang is flinching, too. It’s become a battle of attrition, a clash of wills unseen in the world of handshaking since time immemorial.

Previously on stellarisciv:
We finally invent the Hyperdrive and set forth into space as the Verko, who have an innate need to enslave people. We meet the Eresa, a Pre-FTL civilization who we promptly invade and enslave for slaves. Then we meet the Unified Jerossian Stars, a militaristic people led by a mythical general. Then we meet the Holy Kingdom of Halisus, which little is known about aside from their focus on religion. We settle new worlds, and adapt to them, such as the planets on Gejut and Cutah. Then we settle a strange world, it feels like paradise... However it has an enigmatic Obelisk, attempts to decipher it have resulted in many dead by a mysterious god who talks through it

You are Captain Carya Marseille-O'Hara, and you've just managed to defeat a vehicle full of armed would-be assassins without firing a single shot. Back in the day it was called a “victory by maneuvering”, where one pilot positions themselves in such a way that their victim crashes while trying to avoid being shot down. Nowadays it happens most frequently in shoal zones, where one mobile suit lures or pushes another into a debris field where the victim collides with something hard enough and heavy enough to destroy them, and it's a tactic you've used personally.

Instead, in this case you used a smoke grenade to force your pursuing driver onto the shoulder where he slammed into the crash barrier.

Then you simply blended in as best you could until you arrived at the spaceport and ditched your bullet-resistant car. You moved up through the terminal carefully, badge on full display, and eventually met with your Marines at the security checkpoint.

“Captain Bell wants to speak with you,” a Corporal reports briskly. “Says it's urgent.”

Possibly a message from fleet?

“Did she say what was happening?” you ask

The NCO shakes his head. “No ma'am, her only orders were to meet you and the gate and escort you back to her as quickly as possible.”

“Well then it must be serious,” Artesia nods in agreement. “Take us to her.”

“Ma'am?” the Corporal asks, glancing to your for guidance.

“You heard the lady,” you order. “Move like you've got a purpose, Marine.”

“Yes, ma'am!”

When you eventually reach the bridge it's apparent that your partner isn't thrilled about something, and the fact that the familiar face of a certain Police Lieutenant is up on the screen gives you a hint as to the reason.

>Thanks for the “assist”, Lieutenant. You were a real goddamn inspiration out there.
>Okay, so what the hell do you look so pissed about? WE'RE the ones who should be pissed.
>The hell's your problem? We didn't even open fire this time, though we'd have been justified.

This is facetious. It's implying that he turned and ran rather than lifting a finger to help Carya and Artesia.

“The Hive are still a mysterious species by all accounts, living in the Expanse along the edge of explored space, we still know nothing of their political landscape, history, or culture, and virtually nothing of their biology.” Lee and the others watch the holoscreen as it pans over closeup shots of various decorations within the Hive embassy. “What few clues we have, however, show hints to an ancient and intricate culture with roots spreading across the Expanse and beyond.”

“Those carvings are mostly skyl designs, actually.” Lee says to the others. “That and some visual representations of some ancient events and the like. I think there's a carving of me by the door. Yea! There it is!” He says as he points to the screen. He gives Sushi a quick elbow, causing his boneless mass to wobble in his seat. His eye stalks recoil for a moment.

“Excuse me for a moment. I need to use the little cephalopod's room.” He says blandly, his synthesized voice popping slightly with static as he hoists himself over the back of his seat and floats away down the hall.

“Not sure if the plumbing's been fitted for non-humans yet.” Lee says. The taidaren triplets bob their heads in quick patterns as they change their focus from the screen to Lee.

“We are not picky.”

“You can use the dumpster outside.” Lee says. “Don't think I forgot what you did to my bathroom last time.”

The pale ceph floats down the hall into the main entrance of your embassy, keeping low to the ground as workers pass by periodically. A tentacle wipes over the fine stonework of the chamber as if attempting to rub off some unseen obstruction, his eye stalks shivering as they focus on a small, ancient symbol carved into some obscure corner of the room. His voice implant makes a number of meaningless noises as it fails to translate some sudden burst of neural activity, and his eye stalks quickly reel back into his head as he rushes back to the others with a soft, sputtering sequel as his water jets attempt to function on instinct in the open air. He lands back in his seat in a tight ball of coiled tentacles, his pale skin quickly adapting the texture of the cushion beneath him.

“You alright?” Lee asks.

“Yes.” Sushi says quickly, the voice someone disrupted with static.

>Long, long ago, in a time of dragons and bloodshed, there stood a lonely continent, established by simple people from distant lands. Upon their cultures, they discovered in an ancient forest a crystal of unspeakable power. They had worshiped it, vowing to do no evil in it's name, and bask in the power it gave from kindness. As such, they built a settlement around it, giving the crystal and their city 'Haven'.
>Soon, after decades of peace and prosperity, the yin to the people's yang had finally come. A band of misfits arrived from supposed nowhere. The world was unequipped for the sheer chaotic nature of their group, and after a single week, maybe two, the continent was torn to shreds.
>Disaster, however, breeds hope, and hope breeds innovation. Centuries passed, and the world began to see a new light grow in the remains of what was left. Truth turned to myth, and such error was nothing but an old man's delusion. However, there was one race that still remained more than ever.
>The dragons never forgot history, and in the wake of chaos, a war was fought between any drake in the path to power. Soon, only four Great Beings remained, split into the corners of unexplored territory. As such, they watched over humanity with keen eyes, waiting for time to end again.

>This is the story of the continent of Conquest, and a perilous group of young villagers, just 600 years later...

Well, Dwarves are always a solid mainstay for this kind of thing. Good for outsiders emerging into an unexplored world. I like the idea of Dwarves arriving either in a new world or having emerged in a far distant, uncivilised part of their own worlds. Settling and dominating the countryside, underground outposts dominating mountain ranges and growing to command the loyalties of squabbling tribes and city states, iron-fisted against the claws and beast-folk below.

After theater comes baseball. After changing into uniform and a short period of stretching, the coach is having you do lots of laps, lots of push-ups, shuffles, the like. You almost feel like this is a strength and conditioning class rather than baseball practice.
An eternity of drills and screaming muscles later, you finally get a chance to catch your breath and pant around the cooler as everyone desperately tries to get a drink.

Martinez seems dissatified with this, wiping his brow. "When's Coach Moore going to get us to do something useful? It's already hot as hell out here, what do we need to run so much for?"

Allan is nearby, an has unscrewed the cap to his water bottle and pouring the contents into his mouth.

>>When's Coach Moore going to get us to do something useful?
>This is useful. Back to basics, all that.

Howdy howdy. I think I can go the full time tonight.
>I think he's trying to weed out quitters.
Martinez rolls his eyes. "Pft. Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Explains why some people are here, anyways, he needs backups in case someone bitches out."
His body language makes it apparent that he doesn't view most of the other athletes highly, or at all, really.

Walker watches you two talk nearby, and just like Martinez has silently judged everyone else here, he notes the other boy's conceited attitude with a harsh frown.

>Keith, pass that water bottle over here.
Allan shakes his head, prompting you to take it from him... and it's empty. Of course it's empty.

Moore eventually checks everyone off on one of his clipboards and jerks his thumb towards the field. "Ground ball drills."

You get paired up with Walker, Keith, and Martinez, and Walker starts off pitching a fake ground ball to Keith, who lets it come to him and quickly transfers it to his hand with a prepared throw stance. After this, you and Martinez do the same, and after some time Moore thinks you've done well enough.

The coach groups you back up. "Now, I want to do Pitcher's Fielding Plays." You know this includes special situations where the pitcher makes a play, either a bunt to him or a come backer, where the batter hits it directly back to him.
He points at you. "Read, we'll need a backup pitcher. If you think you can handle the position, get up to the mound. Everyone else get in line."

"I can do it, Coach," Martinez adds, and Moore nods after a bit of thinking. "Switch it up, go one after another."

You're set to go first. A few simple pitches and bunts, and then the coach asks the batters to hit it as if returning to sender. You need to be ready for hits headed your way.

>>Headed Your Way (Courage Test 2d10+2)

Okay, I want you to come pick me up at six. Remember that this is a very formal dinner party so wear your best suit. You also need to clean shave, and honestly, get a fresh haircut. We’ll be Nerv-Montréal’s representatives. We need to look the part, Major.

And please, do not bring that shield. I’m serious. I’d also tell you to leave your gun home but I know you’ll take it with you anyway.

Alright. Did you get all that?

You are General Nathan Oman, awakened from thirty years of cyrosleep. You are the last surviving member of the Timmerman Administration, the greatest, strongest government the United States has ever voted into office. You and the rest of the military leadership, under the guidance of President Timmerman, led the country through trying times. Times it would not have survived without you.
And how did the people pay you back? After the dust settled and the crisis passed? By handing President Timmerman and the military command over to an international court. They were all sentenced for crimes against humanity. They were all hanged.
Except, that is, for you and several other generals. You went into hiding. You all swore that in thirty years times you would return and exact vengeance on the world for the death of your nation.

>Last Time, on My Father's Country >>1661977
You awoke and found yourself to be the only US general to survive the cyro process.
You discovered the Lazurus Project inside your secret base, and have cloned your friend from the CIA, Jake Malone, twice.
You've made contact with patriot militias in Virginia and Carolina , giving you around eighty soldiers.
You've raided two ex-pentagon bases, seizing a drone fleet and a cybernetic warefare program
You raided a nearby town in Appalachia, getting more synthetic organics for your 3D printer.
You've drawn the attention of the Virginia, Carolina, Interpol and Chinese authorities. They know something's up, but have they truly grasped what your ambitions are?

You walk around the officer's quarters, rubbing your chin. The Liberty Legion captains; Bobbi, Greg and Kieth, watch you. The Jakes do as well, but they are well-used to your pacing.
"Jake," You say, turning to Jake1. "That scientist, Dr. Manning. The one they're going to extradite to the Hague. Do we know him? From the glory days?"
Jake squints hard at the newscast being displayed by the holographic projector. "Don't think so Nathan. He's old though. Would have been in his prime around the same time we were,"
You nod. If Manning is being executed, he was likely a part of the Timmermen Administration. And if he's as smart as they say he is, you want him.
"Jake," You say, turning to Jake 2. "I want you to print off a team for other Jake here. Something special forces. I want Dr. Manning sprung. Also, print off anyone else you might think is helpful. How much organics would you say we have?"
"Enough for," Jake2 does some quick mental math. "I dunno, 25 people? So if we're doing strictly special forces, we could do five teams of five,"
"Good enough, but make it four teams of special forces, I want five of them to be CIA. Infiltrators."
"Eh," Jake2 says, giving a shrug. "You don't want "infilitrators". The term means they'll be arab-looking, and speak Arabic. But we're not operating in the Middle East right now."
"Fine," You say, dismissing him with a wave of your hand. "Get me five CIA operative who can operate in the US border, oh and make one of them you," Jake2 nods and leaves the room. "Wait," You call after him. You toss him the cybernetics core. "See what you can do with that. Use those technicians from the Liberity Militia."
You turn to Jake1. You need to think about how to run this prison break. How many special forces teams will you send with him? Liberty Militia? Will you strike while he's in prison, or in transit?

Your thoughts are interrupted by two men dragging in Terry, the deserter. Upon seeing you and the others, his face scrunches up in terror.
"P-please," He says. You whip out your Beretta and cock it.
"I'll make this quick," You say. "Are you in, or are you out?"
"P-please," Terry says, "I have a family,"
"And if you ever want them to live in the glorious nation that is these United Sates," You point the pistol at him. "You'll make sure you do your part for the cause. As either a martyr, or an example."
"I'll serve the militia! I'll serve!"
You nod, holstering the beretta. "Get him cleaning toilets," You say.

Second attempt doing this thread >>1653508

This time also for one if necessary.

You are Tublat, the shaman of your village which is threatened by a foreign army and has thus decided to leave its ancestral homeland.

After meeting back up with the tribe close to their destination, the village of bluestream, you met up with the warriors of the tribe that had hitherto been lost in the forest, fleeing from the foreign army. They also confirmed your suspicions of the death of the chieftan.

You decided to commune with the spirits, and to ask them to somehow arrange a meeting with the foreigners you see in your visions to be a wolf with a thousand teeth.

You lock out the world from your mind. You shed the exhaustion of the days before and fall into the spirit world. A'un greets you in his unfathomable, strange tongue.

You ask him to extend himself to the wolf across the forest that now resides on the graves of your ancestors, and A'un manifests a ghostly raven to travel there.

As the raven sheds from A'un's immaterial form, you know you have two possibilities:

You can make yourself known to the raven, and have it lead whomever it finds to meet you where you are;

Or you could remain hidden from it, and send out a message of your intent, but not reveal your position.

Alright, I guess I'm not surprised that there's no interest, I'll come back tomorrow and try again.

Similar time, maybe a smidge earlier.

Rolled 1 (1d5)

You are Royce of the line of Grimuald, a lineage steeped in black magic and tyranny, last living descendant of the Horned King. The time is right to reveal your legendary bloodlines survival after a hundred years in exile, for the Emperor is mad: every day more capricious, more erratic, more unstable, favorites beheaded and fools put in charge of an empire slowly falling into chaos while being anywhere in the All-Sovereigns line of sight becomes increasingly hazardous to health and livelihood. You have an appointment to see him in ten minutes.

You check yourself over as you prepare to make your entrance, listening with one ear to the enraged ranting of the Prime Royal at his current appointment, hoping that he doesn't simply cancel this rare "working day" and retreat to the harem wing again. Finally your time has come after a lifetime in hiding and moving from town to town, surviving as...

>[Pick Two, or sacrifice a Fate Point and pick three]

>A Sorcerer

An illegal occupation, but a family tradition. Secretly practicing with what little magic you have left in your veins and learning to control your inheritance.

>A Knight

A free rider, overcoming the fear of sorcerers that all horses have and mastering the saddle as few sorcerers ever do. Only mediocre in straight battle, your reputation is for cunning and good fortune.

>A Man-At-Arms

A sellsword, and a good one with a flare for dirty fighting. You've had success leading small mercenary units with clever tactics and quick decision-making, gaining a feel for the ebb and flow of battle and using abhuman soldiers to great effect.

>A Freeman

Farmer, hunter, and eventually skilled blacksmith: turning your back on your heritage and learning to control the family insanity in pursuit of a normal life. Fate was not so kind to your ambitions.

>A scholar.

Steeped in ancient lore. Your knowledge covers a little of most every topic, but your practical skills are in engineering with a specialization in fortress design and your esoteric learning in history with a specialty in magic and monsters.

>An Alchemist

One of the few branches of magic legal throughout the Empire, you have turned to it as an outlet to practice and become an acclaimed, though never quite accepted and always suspected, alchemist.

>A Trader

As with the family magic the dynasties treasure was spent freely by mad kings, but from the remnants you built a new life. Your caravans turn profits from odd routes and work closely with the abhumans many cities shun.

A sellsword spellsword if you will, what kind of system are we using here?

>Knight

We've always been on the lookout for a purpose in life, and aim to find it under a demonic master. On search for rituals or hellgates, we make use of our martial abilities and fortune to protect ourselves.

I'm basically ripping off Aspiring Emperor Quest for mechanics: d20 unless an oddball roll is called for, best of three to meet or exceed a target number. 20 is a great success, 1 is a dramatic failure. 20s and 1s mutually cancel, multiple 20s lead to greater heights of glory while 1s do not similarly multiply.

As per the OP roll, you have two Fate Points (one, plus the number rolled). fate points can be spent once per session to add a +5 before an important roll or negate a 1, or burned permanently Rogue Trader-style to get you out of death or add a +10. Spending one now on an extra Background will burn one, but you can gain fate later by accomplishing goals on the road to returning your Dynasty to dark glory (side-missions don't count) or particularly epic actions.

It should be noted that you will gain your magic powers later, perhaps sooner depending on side-missions, and the Sorcery background just gives you a head start and more refined control.

Welcome to Roller Coaster Tycoon Quest, a collaborative game where you and a bunch of other people on a Taiwanese Basket Weaving image board will attempt to run a successful theme park, with a mixture of committee design and absolute chaos.

Here is how this will work.

1. Updates will be done on a month by month basis (in game months, obviously). In between updates, you can suggest any action you want - building scenery, building a specific kind of ride or stall, etc. An update will be composed of two or more posts - a "Stop" post, where no more input will be accepted, and an "Update" post, where the results of the actions will be displayed.
2. "Agreement" - The more people who agree with you, the higher on the list your actions will be in terms of priority. If two separate people would like to build rides, and we only have enough money for one ride, the person who has the more agreements, concurs, second's, etc., will be prioritized. On ties, it will be determined by the GM.
3. "Vetoing" - Before any "Stop" update is made, you may begin a veto against another person's suggestion. However, in order to successfully veto an action, you must gather a consensus of vetos - 2 other unique IDs (3 total) OR the amount of "Agree" votes the idea has, must be made in vetos, whichever is larger, to successfully cancel the idea. I'm bad at articulating myself but I hope this makes sense.
4. "Requests for Information" - At any time, you may request any information you feel is pertinent, such as research progress, financial charts, guest thoughts, etc., and it will be delivered. This action requires no votes.

If that all makes sense, we will begin shortly. Feel free to post, chatter, claim unique IDs or names, while we negotiate construction rights with the owners of the plot of land designated "Forest Frontiers".

Thank you.

How long till you drop this one?
>>
Presented for your perusal is a map of the land we have recently bought. The screen has been divided into 9 sections, numbered as shown. When you would like to perform a construction action, please designate which section you would like to perform it in.

We will begin in most likely a couple of hours, or whenever we get a handful of opinions on what to do next. Whichever comes first.
