THE STORY UP TO NOW: You're Cyrus "Scruffy" Hunter. Former Imperial Marine and veteran of the Fifth Frontier War.
After serving, you ended up working as a janitor and handyman on a cargo spaceship, the Eutropia. Until you accidentally got involved in a case of interstellar espionage and sabotage.
You ended up taking a bullet for a secret agent working for the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service. To repay you, and to buy your silence, the IISS offered to help you buy your very own ship.
You're now on the frontier, militarized world of Garrison, looking for a crew for your future ride: the Phoenix. You spent some time scoping out the regulars at the Triple Overdose, a local pub for spacer and military type, and there are three prospective crew members you've got your eye on... One of which, a fighter pilot recently dumped out of the Navy and with a serious case of depression on her hands, you had to drag back to your motel, passed out drunk.
Q: What's Traveller?
A: It's an old-school-y generic science fiction roleplaying game, with hints of space opera and space western. You have a spaceship and have to find a way to pay the bills. Think Firefly, Coyboy Bebop and Outlaw Star.
Q: Where's the Archive?
A: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=traveller
Q: What's the game system?
A: Some actions are rolled. This means that before resolving them I will roll 2d6, add any skill you might have (or subtract 2 if you don't have the relevant skill), and modifiers for difficulty. If your roll is a 8 or higher, it's a success.
Q: How does XP work?
A: Exponentially. Buying a skill at 0 will cost you 2 XP. bringing it from 0 to 1 will cost 4 XP. From 1 to 2, 8 XP. From 2 to 3, 16 XP. And so on. Expect character developement to be slow.
Q: Do you have a Twitter or an Ask.Fm?
A: @exaltedfag and http://ask.fm/Exaltedfag
It's the morning of a new day.
Pretty late morning, actually - you were up late last night, chatting up people. Prospective crew members.
The last few days have been pretty incredible to you, actually.
Your wounds still hurt when you move certain ways. The entire situation on board the Eutropia feels like a weird dream.
As you sit up on the bed of your narrow, cheap motel room and consider changing your clothes and brushing your teeth, you hear a dull thud coming from the room right next to yours, the one you stuffed Elena Zaibach in.
Poor idiot girl cleared an entire bottle of clear vodka on her own, last night, and you suspect it wasn't the first one. You her her subtly cursing to herself, evidently having woken up directly by falling from her bed and onto the floor judging by the noise you heard.
>Not my problem. Get dressed and ready for the day, she can handle herself.
>Knock on the wall separating the two rooms, ask if she's ok.
>Head over to her room.
>(Other?)
Dear god
Its back :^)

You are the ruling coalition of parties in the Kingdom of Germany, and have been charged with leading Germany back to glory. Only a few weeks ago, you entered an alliance with the Allied forces and Poland, in a pact protecting against Communist aggression. At the same time, you fight against the last forces of fascism in Spain. Although it is fragile, peace still reigns in Europe.
But all is not well within Europe. In Central Europe, with the Allies and Germans pledging to protect Poland, the Polish-Czechoslovak alliance has fallen apart. Now surrounded by German-friendly nations, the Czechoslovaks have begun partial mobilization, bringing their army up to 300.000 men. In the East, meanwhile, the Soviet union condemns the decadent democracies of Europe, calling the treaty a knife to the throat of the proletariat. Rumours are that Stalin has ramped up the purge of Soviet officers to create a new, stronger Red army.

Fuck no, actually this is the perfect time to go to war with Russia. However it is inevitably the better course of action to make them die out from economic means, swindling them in trade deals and embargoes etc. that is what made the soviet a fall in the first place.
For now I suggest we pay off our debt by raising some taxes and instituting some social welfare policies. That or getting rid of debt+using the surplus to extend and increase the intensity of the deal we made previously with our allies to improve infrastructures including electricity and running water in every remotely populated area.
A hot iron brands your mind. On it, the word 'Irrokozar'.
The name darts about in your consciousness, as though it were marked by a benevolent eidolon's meticulous hands.
There is still much you can claim to *know;* perhaps your quest is to find your son, whose loss of faith sparked vehement retaliation from the zerth of Sanzerathad. You cannot blame them, however, after what happened at Shrak'kt'lor.
Are you searching for the defiler of Shrak'kl'tor, then? No... his name is no longer *known* to you, nor are his intentions. Besides, the githzerai mind is one of introspection, not retribution. This fact is what separates your kind from its bloodthirsty and vengeful cousins, the githyanki.
If only you could remember the world before. Yours is a mind without reflection. You find yourself in a strange place with the undeniable charm of the Prime Material, although its stench is uncanny. Your senses *know* that something is wrong here.
You are left only with with your basest instincts, like an abandoned babe in the woods. Gone are the teachings of your cenobite days, gone are the lessons you swore to protect.
Now you have but one objective: to endure. In enduring, you will grow strong.

Unknown Continent: First of Plateshift, Unknown Year
You plummet to the cold floor of a tunnel from a considerable distance above. You scrape your forehead in a foreward skid down a man-made slope, peeling the skin like an apple just before you tumble off sideways. In one swift motion you've been thrust into an unfamiliar existence; your only evidence of a past life being what few memories your ample Wisdom permits, and a portal of shimmering red and orange light on the cave ceiling, just past the slope behind you.
As you rise to your bare feet you feel infantile, as though you are taking the first steps you've ever taken in your life. Perhaps you'd even believe that, were there not a portal ahead that alludes to the contrary. A few fleeting memories briefly fill your mind...
Abyssal...
Sanzerathad...
Irrokozar. That's you. You are here for a reason.
>There's no time to waste. Charge the portal and get out of this strange place! [roll 1d20 - 5 to attempt running with your weak legs.]
>Clearly, you are meant for this mysterious world. Get up and walk away from the portal; you will find your purpose eventually. [roll 1d20 - 1 to prevent Stage 1 Regret.]
>Call out to whoever may be listening from the other side of the portal, but don't get up. Taking drastic action would only over-exert your body. It still feels fragile. [roll 1d20 to see what happens.]
>Remember why you are here. [roll 1d20 + 2. Slight bonus due to proximity to portal.]
>Write-in?
[pt. 2/2]Feedback is encouraged. Also, I'm not a very fast writer but I love player interaction; write-in votes and vote combinations are always great to have.

That seems like an important thing to know though either way it seems like we are better off getting out of this place somehow. What does Stage 1 Regret imply?

Alrighty then,
We start in our bedroom after we are awakened by screams outside. Our bedroom contains a computer, a bookshelf, a Tv, and a gun case with a pump-action shotgun. There is a drawer in the bottom of the gun case with a box of shotgun shells. There is a backpack next to your computer.
In this world of ours, there are events that science cannot explain -- supernatural creatures, telekinesis, spatial anomalies. To keep the status quo, certain organizations contain these events and ensure no information of their existence is leaked to public.

You are an average person, who has never stood out. There are no issues at home -- your parents want you to succeed. Meanwhile, your relationship with your younger sibling has become distant, especially since you’re living away from home, in an apartment near your college. Oh, and you’re also a college student, studying a degree you don’t want, but your parents pushed on you to achieve. In any case, today there are no classes.
Currently, you are starving and there’s nothing to eat. What do you do?
>Walk to the corner store down the street.

And a gracious greetings to you!
Yes, this magnificent orb on your left is soothing you with his silky, synthetic voice. The lot of you may call me by my name: Lord Ord. Indeed, I rule all bots on this robotful world. You may bow down now if you like.
Or... I suppose I should not expel such disrespects at your sweetly faces, for you are my saviors. You see, Lord Ord is a very troubled, very spherical soul whose world-ruling algorithms - by some freak, digital tragedy - were woefully overwritten...
(2/3)
...And without a clue as to how I should command, I now have this bubblingly angry underling's unruly behavior to deal with. His fiery eyes sizzle with impatience. "Where's that lava you promised me, lemon drop?" he grumbles. "I'm gonna eat you if you don't hurry up and deliver."
(3/3)

Have you got any special skills/abilities/items that could help you out here?
In the interest of personal safety, it's best to comply with the angry underlings demands for now. What's this business about lava, anyway?
Light slowly trickles into your vision as you finally reawaken, to your relief, in the back of the Soviet halftrack instead of a Hexenkraft one. Or worse. You rub your head as your rise blearily, it feels like someone smashed your own hammer into your face; your eyes aren’t faring any better, pain shoots through them thanks to that ghost’s attempt to burrow into your head. Or at least you think that what she tried to do. You don’t feel that different, maybe the creepy ghost magic hasn’t kicked in just yet? She’s stayed quiet while you slept, and hasn’t made herself known to you since you put on that necklace. You try calling out, half expecting her to respond.
“Hello? Anyone there?”
The only thing that answers you is the rumbling of the halftrack’s engine and the howling of the desert winds outside. Figures, what were you expecting. It still feels like your eyes are trying to rip themselves clean of your sockets. You grind your teeth as you muscle through the pain. The necklace hasn’t left its perch upon your neck, the central gem’s glowing has subsided to a dull, barely noticeable hue. The thing does look rather good on you and if it wasn’t haunted, you’d be happy to keep it. Diane and Erika come into the half track as they hear you speak to no one. Probably to make sure that you haven’t lost your marbles after your ordeal in the Mausoleum. Diane gives you a soft smile as the two girls flank you. Erika’s attempt to look soothing
“You’re awake. How are you feeling? Do you remember your name?” They must think that ghost really screwed you up if they’re asking those kinds of questions. You open your mouth to respond, but no words come out. The memories of what you assume is Diane’s future come rushing back to your mind, the deathly pallor of her face as blood liberally soaks the sands beneath her lifeless body. Two, gaping puncture wounds adorning her neck, teeth marks on the other side of it. A stark contrast to the living, breathing girl sitting next to you now. For the first time in a very long time, you feel like crying.
“I’m fine, don’t worry about it.” Diane sits you back down as you attempt to leave, hand firmly pushing on your shoulder.
“Take a break, mon ami. The Soviets are clearing the Mausoleum. They haven’t found anything just yet, but they said that they will be in touch with us if they need help. We should go home, rest up, yes?”
[x] Sounds good, you're not sure if your fit to fight right now
[x] No, you aren’t done with this place yet, you should stop the Hexenkraft's progress here and now

Your name is Vladimir and you are an ancient vampire that stalks the woods of Romania. Your clothes are black like the night and your wings are beautiful and spooky. Today you walked around the forest when you saw a young man leaning on a tree near a small path
>What do you do?
“Right.” You seat yourself in the passenger seat of the Land Rover as Mills starts up the car again. “That’s two girls down, one more and we can call it a day and hit the bar, Mills!” You’re already tasting the fine scotch on your tongue. Of course, that’s probably just from recently. But still, you need a drink after today, things are quite more hectic than you realize.
From Mobile Infantry Lieutenant and winner of the Terran Cross to… Idol producer.
This isn’t how you imagined citizenship.
Right, you just got to accept your new circumstances. A trooper fights, she does not quit. Though your feelings are kind of hurt that YOU aren’t the Idol. You’re not even that old. You fold your arms, quietly grumbling. Who does the Prime Minister think she is? With a glance over at Mills, you see that he is looking expectantly at you. “Mills?”
“Are we going somewhere, ma’am?” he asks. Oh, oh. Right, um…
“Well, there is the Factory I suppose but…” You check your watch. 6 O’Clock. Who’s going to be at a factory at 6 O’Clock? Meh, may as well check you suppose. “Eh, take us there, Mills.” He nods, gently pushing the car into drive and moving on out of the driveway onto the main roads.
It was nice seeing some of your old teachers again, seeing those old sterile corridors of the High School too. Made you feel like a kid again. Of course, it was only a half-decade ago you decided to take the Federal Service. And yet, it feels like a century since you came home.
Of course, that’s probably some time relativity mumbo jumbo, maybe it HAS been a century galactic wise.
No, let’s not think about that. The shrinks encourage troopers not to think about the amount of time that’s passed since Boot and taking the first drop.
You look over at Mills again, and see his mechanical prosthetics again. Oh God, what happened to him? “Ma’am?” You blink. He looks at you, smiling. “Curious about the scars?” he asks mockingly.

GAME INFORMATION
When you learn a word it is assigned lvl 1.
Each level corresponds to 1d4.
When using words roll the number of d4s equal to their combined level.
Rolls using words will be against the DC for the task.
Higher rolls than the DC may equal higher effects.
The DC for any given task is determined by the environment and the caster.
The best way to understand is through an example.
Lets ignore the environment and create a DC for shooting a fireball from your hand.
If you have [create] and [fire], regardless of their level, the DC is 3.
Now imagine instead you knew the words [manipulate] and [matter].
The DC would be 9 if we ignore any environmental bonuses.
However, In a volcano the DC may be 3 or lower.
Specific skills = low dc, high reliability
Broader skills = high dc, high versatility
Hopefully you can understand from the example how each play styles could work in different scenarios.
Everything else will be explained when necessary.
If you have any questions please post them now otherwise create a character.
The character with the most votes will be our main character.
