You are Saakima, son of chieftain Rakamaaka of the dark plains, and just last night you were sent to look for something that belongs to the roiling sky as an adulthood ritual. After rising up and befriending a Sharpmaw, you found another village of dwellers just like you, which hold the secrets to kelp-farming that you intend to being back to your tribe. But then, as you conversed with the shaman Yotra and the lorekeeper Puurta, another guest arrived from the sky beyond the sky beyond the roiling sky - and its arrival almost devastated the village Tarka, where you are a guest in.
The night has ended in the village of Tarka, and another glow appears over the eastern part of the roiling sea. You became agitated, only to be reassured by Korta and Yotra that it's natural.
"It's just the Shining Orb, sailing its way through the sky beyond the roiling sky."
Thanks to your quick spotting of the runaway hut, the village did not lose any huts, although some of them had to be dug from the sands.
"I myself only knew of the Sleeping God - could it be that there are other gods than him and the Orb?"
"Perhaps. If what happened last night was the result of another god's doing, we might have to check out the north. Are you coming, Saakima?" Korta asks, excitedly.
"Now, hold on, Korta. Remember that he's here to bring back knowledge of farming to his tribe, but he'll need to go to the other deep tribes for things he can plant in the dark plains." Yotra says.
"Very well then, it's up to Saakima. We, the dwellers of the village Tarka, thank you for your help. May the path you choose be well."

"Thank you, chief Kartak, but I must be on my way. I still need to finish my ritual, and if I need to journey to the other deep tribes, then I must do so. Again, I thank you for your hospitality." You say.
"Very well then. I know one other deep tribe other than yours, but they're not exactly friendly. Use caution around them - they're three days' journey to the northeast."
The shaman, Yotra, joined the conversation. "There might be another tribe to the northwest, but I have only heard stories about them, told by the shaman before me. They're about four days away." He thinks for a moment. "But, if what you really want is some plantable kelp, try the chasm near the Wreck-Yard, to the north. There might be some kinds of kelp there that can grow in the dark, but beware of sky-people - the Wreck-Yard is where their creations go to die." He cautioned.
You thank the chief and Yotra, before setting off.

Alright, so here's the briefing. There are 4 security guards, 6 cameras, 10 tellers and 20 civilians. We're gonna need no civilian casualties. You need to get to the manager to give you the vault combination. Remember, get at least $100,000 for our "investors" and you can grab whatever else you want.
Roll 2d10 to decide what your gun is.
1-5=pistol
6-10=shotgun
11-15=smg
16-20=assault rifle
the rolling formula is 2d10
>you need a roll of 5 to use zip ties
>you need a roll of 10 to shoot someone
>you need a roll of 15 to disable alarms
>you need a roll of 20 to drill through the vault
Rolled 2, 9 = 11 (2d10)

Walk up to the person working there, tell them quietly and calmly that you have a gun, and will kill everyone if they don't give you at least 200,000$.

Freedom. It’s a word that rings in the hearts of all mortal men, an innate desire given at birth to be unbounded, untethered, to know what it is to be as free as a bird set loose upon the wind. And right here, right now, you count yourself among those lucky few to ever truly experience it, not because you are free of obligations or physical limitations, but because grasped in the claws of a bull manticore, sailing high above the earth and looking down at the villages far below and beyond the horizon, you feel like there is nothing in the world you cannot accomplish.
“Umm, Lee, do you think we can fly a bit lower?” your friendly priestess asks from behind and above you, wind whipping through her hair. “Umm… I… That is, I would appreciate it.”
The hiccupping, shivering elf clutching her chest likely has something to do with this, but another voice interjects.
“If it’s all the same to you,” Falkore growls at you mentally. “I’d prefer not to fly into tree tops… or a flock of geese. Peckish or no, those things are horrifying. Tell your females to calm themselves.”
Truly, even in absolute freedom you could only be so free. You’d let out a false sigh of frustration as you turn over another dilemma in your head, but you’ve hardly the lung capacity to spare up here.
*Rattle-Rattle*
After all, you are Lee: bard, lover, fighter, recently numbered among the walking dead, and self-styled spirit of vengeance.

Welcome to RE: Animated Quest. For those dropping in for the first time, welcome to the tales of Lee Townsend, a re-animated skeletal bard on a personal quest to do some good and tie up loose ends in his inexplicably extended time on earth.

And don't worry, you've got plenty of readers.
It's just that it takes us a while to trickle in.

Yeah. Not sure how I'll manage the slow running nature of the quest when I get back to school and work, honestly. We tend to drift a good bit between enough votes to update, but we'll just have to see.
For now, glad to have you, and I'd be thankful if anyone surfing the archive could bump thread thirteen a bit to keep it out of the red. Not sure if it was just intensely disliked or if one anon is trying to get it removed. Either way, it'd be nice not to have gaps if other people decide to pick up the quest at a later time.
Oh yeah, it's a one-shot quest about survival or some shit.

Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.
They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.
For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.
>Previously on Dark Gate Academy...
You were introduced to Kazuma Asai, made some friends, made some enemies, and learned that you may be important.
“Hey there. How would you guys like to save the world?”
You remain seated in your chair, frozen and dumbstruck, trying hard to comprehend what you just witnessed. Who is this girl? Why did she feel the need to enter like that? And what's this talk of saving the world? Put simply, this was not one of the things you expected to happen today.
Takeshi is the first to rise from his chair, greeting the girl. “Ah, Saki Kobashi! How have you been? W-what brings you here, kicking my door open and whatnot?”
Suddenly a spark of sense appears in this Saki's head. She blushes, and immediately begins to bow. “I am very, very sorry about that, Takeshi-Sensei!” she yells in an apologetic tone. “That was very disrespectful and rude of me. I promise to never do it again, and I'll gladly serve whichever detention you have set out for me if need be-”
“You can cut it out now Saki,” a brown haired boy replies as he enters the room. “You need to remember why you're here.”
“Oh yes, of course...” Saki shakes her head. “Thank you, Ken.”
“Can you idiots just get to the point where you explain what you want?!” Sae exclaims. “We don't have all day you know! This is a very busy club!”
“It is?” Risa smirks.
“Shut up, you!” Sae snaps back.
“Uhh... anyway,” Saki continues, “It is my understanding that this extracurricular society is focused on studying and uncovering the mysteries of the Darkworld, correct? Well, what if I told you that I had a huge lead that would surely help in your investigation?”
“You mean you have a way to impress T-Tekina?!” Takeshi exclaims, before pumping his fist. “Oh Saki, I always knew there was a reason for you being my favourite student last year!”
“I thought I was your favourite?” Ken asks.
Takeshi recoils, and nervously scratches the back of his head. “W-what? W-well... uhh... you know, you're all my favourites!”
“Hmm...” Saki mutters, before continuing. “Well, my point is that I have a task set for you guys that could lead to some major developments. You see, on the outskirts of Dakugeto lies a forest, and within that forest lies the headquarters of a now mostly defunct group known as The Order of the Awakened.”
“We've tangled with them before,” Ken explains. “They're a group that worshipped the Darkworld. We have it on good authority from a former member that within their base contains a tome that could prove very useful to us.”
Saki pauses, surveying the room. “A lot of you have been staying pretty quiet so far... honestly, I expected a bigger reaction to all of this. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask.”
Almost unconsciously, you raise your hand to say something.
>What's your stake in all this? What do you have to gain?
>Did you say that order was “mostly defunct”? I don't like the sound of that “mostly.”
>Sorry, I'm just having trouble getting over that ridiculous entrance.

Strange times are afoot for the sons and daughters of the god Assur. For years now have they dwelled upon the expansive grassland Savanna, prospering and integrating with themselves their fellow human tribes, but now the flow of migrant humans from the north has dried up, for no reason the people know. The Merrow, river like ogres, men tainted by the mad god Magnan, have been recently contacted, and a few of their kind are studied. Any mage that touches one of them finds themselves with their minds ruined by Magnan, and many grow to fear these erstwhile allies more and more. In the far east, the strange Yakuti, men in the shapes of cows and auroch, have recently been contacted for trade, and through them a new and magical metal has been procured, Cassite, a stone that seems to amplify magic.
The people remain amazed and confounded by the young man Elkar, who was a child merely weeks ago, before a personal meeting with the great god Assur, who bestowed upon him phenomenal magical ability, and matured him to adulthood, leaving a confused child in the most powerful body on the earth, capable of crushing houses should it please him. It seems, however, that the power of Assur's mage, and the attempt to converse with the Merrow, has angered the great god Magnan, the father of beasts, who has stirred the great tribes of half-men, humans devolved by the world around them, lead by the mighty giants. Raids grow more and more frequent, with small parties of beast-like aberrations breaching your land and destroying small farmsteads.
Magnan is displeased, and the displeasure of the god of the Primordial world is a fearful thing indeed.
>Stats in next post.
>Population: 1560
>Notable Citizens: Ajax, Veteran Leader and accepted supreme ruler of the united tribes. Cassian, his supposed commander, who acts as a subordinate, a man who seeks only peace and happiness for his people. Uskar, a venerable noble mage, learning to use the magic of flame and the mind. Arcax, an adventurer who seeks out great enemies to slay. He visits very occasionally to resupply, and talks to almost no-one. He is married, though they meet very rarely, the Ajax's sister Helea. Along with these, the figure of Elkar, a child made into a man, a boy made into a magical mastermind, who no-one is quite sure how to deal with.
>Military: The Army consists of a militia of 250 Men, split into chariot drivers, infantry and archers.
>Technology: Primal Iron Age.
>Magic: Assurine Magic, Cassite Manipulation.
>Structures (Riverside): Bustling Village, Palisade Walls, Simple Farms, Bloomeries, Watch towers.
>Structures (Mazdai): Mid sized village, Palisade Walls, Bowyery, Fletcher, Rye farms.
>Structures (Ajacharia): Large Stone Fortress, Barracks, Servant's Quarters, Food Supply.
>Religion: The people revere Assur as their defender and Messiah, he who protects them by giving them the chance to protect themselves, who wards of the beastlord.
>Quality of Life: Your people dwell in wood and clay homes, sometimes walled in with clay bricks in drier regions, or places with little wood. Stone is sometimes used for larger constructions such as towers, but rarely for homes. Each home contains simple clay and wooden furniture, built around cooking fires and bloomeries for smelting of copper and such for daily tool repair. Artisanry is highly respected with most if not all citizens working to produce the best they can, or to be the best at what they do. Competition is a part of life, as is the militia. Prayer is uncommon, but reverence is ubiquitous. Many still hunt, but most subsist on a rich, fish supplemented agrarian diet of barley, rye, fruits, pork, beef and antelope (Bek). Life is currently pleasant enough, but fear of the ape men is common, and the borders with the great open grasslands are dangerous to travelers. Trade with the up river tribes is common, and few of them are large enough to pose a real threat or to need much respect from your now very large tribe.

The system I will be using for sneaking is as such
You specify an action such as "Bone goes to the crate". If guards are in the vicinity, you must roll 1d2 for detection by that guard. 1 is detection, 2 is not detected. If detected, you enter a state of detection called "Noticed" You must then roll 1d100 to see if the guard spots you. If spotted, then the zone you are in enters a state of detection called "Alarmed". When in the "alarmed" state, Guards will converge on your last known location and actively search for you. They will not try to apprehend you, their will fire at you. With every move you do in "Alarmed" mode, you must roll 1d100 twice, one to see if shot and one to see if you escape their pursuit. If you properly escape, you will enter "Caution" Mode, which they will continue to look for you without knowing where your at. If you remain in caution mode for a set amount of actions, you lost any mode of detection. Intro over with, the quest will start in next post

One day, you wake in a strange place. Your head hurts. Your memory feeling "blurred". Everything about you felt different, really. And you quickly note three people around you. 3d10 where two of the dice needs to meet the DC, Best of 3. Did it because after playing around with some small things in the first thread, that's what I settled for.

>Primary aspects can be anything, from law, to life, to fire.
>To set up a hero, simply select a relic and power for your hero. Both must be related to your primary aspect, IE a god of law has a hero that can force anyone to tell the truth and has a book that reveals one secret about a person the hero is talking to.
>To do anything for either your hero or your god, roll 2d10, and add 1 if it is in your territory and add another 1 if it is related to your primary aspect. If the roll passes 12, it goes through. If not, you fail.

The filthy, oddly postured family waited on the rocks bordering the forest, off to the side of the road. The older couple both sported noticable bruises and burns, while the three children somewhat less so. All five of their stomaches were growling.
And then, they saw it; a Godric bee goods trade run. Honey, wax, home remedies and the like. It didn't matter how many men guarded their treasures, that food was going to be theirs.
The bearded loon led his family's charge, hollering and shouting nonsensical gibberish, him and the others each grabbing a pot of honey here, a merchant dinner there. They ran off into the distance, whooping in triumph, as all the Godric men chased them down, tackling them one by one.
When they turned back, all the goods were gone. Nothing remained, with everything somehow having been stolen in the time the guards and merchants were gone. Angrily mumbling, assuming it was a bandit raid, they turned back towards their home, captives in tow.

“I am quite sure I don't know you”, you state on the defensive. The woman in front of you, with her electric blue hair and crimson eyes and that general form and bearing... You'd remember someone like that if you saw it, especially if she always dressed like that: with a form-fitting leotard and a hooded cloak above it, and nothing else. Yep, you just noticed she's barefoot.
“My, you wound me”, she smiles as she approaches. Her smile is bright but sly, with a somewhat alluring tint, and the way she swings her hips as she walks speaks of a woman who is used to get what she wants. You happen to be an expert on the subject, after all, and while some women's hips just swing naturally when they walk, like yours do, even if you try not to be sexy, her moves are not mere natural talent. That is skill.
She's not very tall, you can tell that from up close, and despite her flirty countenance she has a simple banana-type body with neither bust nor hips to speak of, in spite of how much good of an use she can make of the latter. She also smells of freshwater, which is normally a rather faint aroma but you can't help but pick it up seeing how out of place it is.
“The lake, remember?”, her voice, you have to admit, is suave enough to make up for her relatively nondescript body. She remains in front of you, her hands staying put where they are. Strange, you almost expected her to make a move or something at this point, “We've seen each other already”.
You do remember seeing a humanoid figure in the middle of the lake, but considering how brightly the sun shone on its surface you couldn't be sure, and it was gone a few moments later. “You can't expect me to recognize you after that”, you crack a smile yourself, guessing she must be that figure, “And I remember you disappearing”.
“What can I say. I'm shy”, she even clasps her hands behind her back, though her smile is in sharp contrast with what she just said, “But you? You seem to be quite in a pickle, am I right?”.
“What do you mean?”.
“Ah, forgive me, I was under the impression a vampire cult was out for your blood?”, she blinks innocently, feigning confusion, “Oh dear, I must have mistaken you for someone else. Do forgive me, it does happen sometimes. After all, there's soooo many people in that situation...”.
That smile just turned into a grin, she's clearly mocking you. At the same time, you are now more than certain she knows something.
There's almost nobody else in sight, you get the glimpse of the odd group of kids or other people in the distance, but this is an area most people avoid even if just out of superstition.
She looks so smug as she waits for your reaction. She knows you're bound to give her one. Any time now.
