For so long as there have been monsters, there have been those that have stood against them. Hunters, heroes, priests, and paragons, and sometimes just men and women with no other choice but to go howling back into the nascent dark that surrounds them.

Yet, darkness comes in many forms, lying within the heart and mind as often as within the physical eye of the beholder. When then does a hunter become a butcher? A saint, a destroyer of innocents? And most of all, who is fit to judge the guilty? These are questions too rarely asked and far too seldom answered.

Cici, however, is no philosopher. She is just a child, albeit one with fangs and serpentine lochs she’s presently trying her best to keep hidden beneath her hood. It’s no easy feat to keep a dozen slithering snakes stowed safely away, of course. Curious snouts nuzzle at her neck more insistently with each passing moment as they wonder what is going on outside, but because she knows the more ordinary girl she’s presently helping to her feet might be afraid if she saw them, she perseveres with her restraint. Maybe that was the real difference between a man and a monster come the end of the day…

“But wait a second, there aren’t any monsters around here,” Cici complains, the young gorgon blissfully unaware of the meta-narrative and instead fully focused on the grass-stained girl she had found playing monster hunter in her front yard.

“Are you crazy?!” the other girl demands, hurriedly brushing away detritus and mud before tiny fists find their way to her hips. “There’s ghosts and skellingtons and bears everywhere around here and…” Her voice drops into a conspiratorial whisper. “and even worse!”

Welcome to Gorgon Child Quest! Where-in you take up the role of a magical talking artifact being wielded by a young gorgon girl named Cici. Living out of the steadily improving remains of a once great dungeon, the game will focus on exploration, character interaction, and learning as the voices of the players within the amulet help guide her along. I may also include a magic system down the line depending on how things go, but we'll see what the future holds.

Oh shit nigger(s) it's the aftermath of Civ Thing and all the tribes who inhabitited the nondescript generic fantasy land has all been enslaved by The Kingdom ruling the aforementioned nondescript generic fantasy land.
Now they must either accept their fate or break out and free their own tribe. Other tribes optional.

Your current protagonist is the current Chief of the Barbarian Tribe: Hooded Bones. Your human tribesmen are being kept in the arena to entertain the Kingdom citizens while you and your skeletal tribesmen are being hunted down by paladins.

Currently you're in the middle of evading a squad of paladins, what do you do?

A large figure, clad in black and green armor is standing beside you.
His reiatsu is so immense the ground shakes and crakes from its force.
The three highschoolers look with mouths agape at Asher as he practically oozes reishi from every orifice.

With one final scream he swings his sword and cuts a tiny piece out of the ground.
Where there was a cut in the rocks below you there is now steel.
Asher shouts one last time and his fullbring disappears completely, alongside his reiatsu.

"That was my complete fullbring.
As you can see it can turn any area I cut into metal which I can manipulate as I wish.
Though you won't reach this point for a good while I felt it necessary to show you this."
He gives a careful glance to the shop owner.
"I hope that wasn't a problem Mister."

Urahara waves.
"Not at all.
In fact I'm glad you did.
I'm quite astonished at this as well."

"To think that someone like this exist. And a human no less!
It boggles the mind."
The black cat spoke again.

Asher looks at Yoruichi.
"D-did that cat just talk?"

"Hmph.
After pulling a stunt like that I don't think you get to call others weird Father."
The cat answers.
"A power that could easily subdue most Menos...
I'd hate to see what would happen if you became a shinigami Mr Bergson."

Tatsuki finally gathers her courage to speak.
"H-hey, hey! Stop joking around!
What was that just now? It felt like the world was ending right in front of us!"

But Asher simply waves her off.
"It's best not to overthink it dear.
While it appears that Mr Urahara wanted to ease you into this, I believe it's best to throw a child into the deep parts of the pool if you want them to learn how to swim."
He begins turning his arm around near his socket.
"Now if you would be so kind to start in the pool that'd be lovely.
I'd also like to take a nice warm bath to ease my old joints."

Urahara speaks up.
"Well then that's just perfect!
The healing spring can give relief to many different ailments, including conventional ones."

"Ah that sounds wonderful Mr Urahara.
Even though I'm quite fit for my age, my fullbring abilities only slow down aging.
I'm still quite old."

"Nonsense Father, you don't look a day over fifty."

Chad looks up to Asher once he finishes staring at his left arm and walks up to him.
"Excuse me Master but may I have a question?"

Asher looks at him and raises an eyebrow.
"What is it Chad?"

"Why do my arms feel so different?"
He says so as he squeezes both of his fists tight.
"I'm worried... When my right arm manifested it was to protect an innocent life.
But this arm feels more... savage."

Asher scratches his head as he looks at the rather large boy.
"I don't know what to say to that lad.
I'd recommend giving on the hope of me correcting your mistake, 'cause I won't.
Your assumption is correct... That arm is meant to hurt things."

Chad looks a bit scared as the priest confirmed his suspicions.
"B-but..."

"No buts, it's actually quite obvious."
He points at Chads right arm.
"Your right arm is a manifestation of the will you inherited from your Abuelo.
That thing is your Ego, what you chose to be."
Asher then points at his right.
"And that is your Id the thing you were born as and have no control over.
No matter how much you look up to your grandfather or how much you want to deny this, your aggression and desire to harm is just as much a part of you as the things your Abuelo taught you."

Chad looks quite broken at these words.
"I've been trying so hard...
To live according to Abuelos wishes and yet..."

Asher sighs and gives Yasutora a slap.
"Stop wallowing in your self pity Sado."
The Mexican boy merely blinks at the priest a few times.
"You believe this incident to be a defeat? Do you think you broke the promise to your grandfather just now?
I'm sure you even apologized to him when you attacked me with aggression but listen to what I have to say.
Humans are complex creatures, sure you have the capacity to decide how you want to live your life but if you deny a part of yourself by doing so then you are wrong.
Of course we can't just give into our desires and instincts, we are not animals.
But you can only live a happy life if you find balance between the two.
Otherwise you end up as nothing more than an animal or a miserable human who hates every aspect of his life."
Asher then grabs the tall boys chin and raises it.
"My two fullbrings represent who I was and who I am now.
Only by coming to terms with ourselves can we unleash our true potential.
So raise your head and never look down lad.
I know this is a lot to take in but watching such young people being so depressed really pains my heart."

Yasutora looks almost like he is about to cry as he responds.
"T-thank you master, I'll try my best."

"That's all I'm asking Chad."

Don't worry you can still take a nice relaxing bath and once you are done the children will close shop after you are done."
Then he and his assistant make their way up.

To your surprise it seems like Tatsuki and Orihime already finished.
Asher then looks at you expectantly.

Orihime adds as she walks to the exit.
You can hear her mumbling something.
"I should cook dinner as well... maybe sweet potatoes with peanut butter and ketchup."
You dry heave after hearing that.

Asher looks at Chad and speaks.
"Go ahead son, I don't want to embarrass you by taking a bath with an old man."

"T-thanks..."
He leaves after a sigh of relief.

When there's just the two of you left you look at Asher.
"So teacher...
How's the class?"

He ponders a bit before answering.
"Odd.
The boy definitely has potential but unless he finally stops holding himself back he won't amount to much."

"And the girl?"

"Hmmmm how should I put this?
She has 3 powers, each different but all bound to her mental state.
A singular offensive technique that's useless given the fact that she couldn't kill a fly if her life depended on it.
A shield that cracks faster than a wall made out of biscuits if she is under stress of any kind.
And well... this is the tough one."

You blink a few times.
"What is?"

"I can't be quite sure as it's too bizarre for me.
It's healing but I don't think it's that simple.
I saw her heal Sados arm but I'd swear on my mothers name that I saw bits of flesh materialize out of thin air.
It's God damned effective but I suspect it's still subject to the same fault her other two abilities."

You can't quite piece the bits together.
If you wanted to decipher that ability you'd need to observe it from up close.
But after struggling to figure it out you speak up.
"So basically her powers are Gods way of compensating for her?"

"Pretty much.
Give the same power to anyone else and they'd be a force to be reckoned with."
He pauses for a bit.
"And what about yours? Any luck?"

"A good fighting spirit but she needs to rid herself of the limitations that come with her martial arts.
Talented but unrefined basically."

"I see..."
With that he cracks his back before hunching forward.
"Man I need this bath, my old bones can't take this much excitement anymore.
Care to join us?"

There is a wise and ancient saying, that War never changes. That moral still hang true when in 2278 a mighty war raged on between two ancient factions, who were merely one of the same centuries ago.

But now that war has ended, some years ago. The Capital Wasteland is "thriving" now, that the Potomac river is purified of all radiation and filth. Groups and animals unheard of have moved into the region, making the Capital Wasteland more bloody and brutal than every seen.

Time will tell who will fight to live for another day or perish against the winds of apocalypse.

Wastelanders: The commen people. The survivors. These people ancestors have all survived the initial brutalities of the Great War and beyond, continuing their bloodlines whilst fully knowing the future of the wastes. (+5 to Bartering with traders or other factions. Varied occupations.)

Tribals: Not every human has remained "civilized" throughout the duration in the Capital Wasteland. But "civilized" is a niche word to stretch when in the Wasteland. These people now the way of survival better than most and cling onto newly formed religions.(Cannot understand or be understood by other factions; Different language. Expert survivalists and tracking will be easier.)

Super Mutant: WOT!? YA TILLIN' MUH THA DA MOAR HUMANS MOVIN' IN? REMOVE HUMAN!

Roving Trade Band: We sell goods, at any bargained price. Telling here to there, it really is the bomb. Our wares are always being sought after either hostilely or with great reassurance we finally made it. Many of us die out here, but such is the life of trading.(Master traveling ability. +15 to all Barter situations. High encounter chance.)

Cult: Somewhere between Tribal and Wastelander, cultists of all sorts have moved into the Capital Wasteland region. Many serve many "gods"..From old world celebrities from magazines or some fucked up abomination.(+15 to speech rolls, leader maybe a psyker or have a rare FEV mutation)

Defense Intelligence Agency Remnants: The DIA was tasked with one thing: Intelligence. They were the best of the best and their agents innumerable..Since the bombs hit, they've gone by doing what they did best besides Intelligence. Assasination. Few of this ancient pre-war clan exist, but they are not even ghost stories told by the fire. They are never seen. Never heard. If they are? Well that seer will vanish.(+20 to all stealth rolls. Cannot recruit outside faction

For land is gained in a series of Mur Cahash, battles over earth, where the Lon, elite warriors of a tribe fight in one on one combat to settle disputes over territory and law. And when a champion dies, a power gap must be filled. All the Lon of the tribe elect one of their own to become the new Durat Lon. Other tribes converge, trying to prey upon the weakened, like vultures attempting to take flesh from an injured wolf.

For all men surely understand, especially after the war of four tribes, war only leads to death. It can only bring the end of prosperity, and when land is to be conquered it should remain prosperous. And war is sated in this way, it is certain that a full scale war shall never happen again.

And such it is that your father died in contest, seven days ago, but today is the end of your 18th winter, marked by the blossoming of the Hape-Hape trees. The only this year to become Lon for your tribe.

As well as being masters of medicine, conquering the swamp’s toxic fumes, alchemy is used to augment combat ability. That is not to say that poison isn’t made, but as a Lon, you have no use for it.

You blink, slowly – settling on the bed as you feel the memories of last night hit like a freighter. You remember Anno – the medic whom truly seems to be a government agent, and how she set you up to take Kimi’s squadron in a coup.

You shake your head, slowly, turning your gaze back up, exhaling slowly as the events of the night unfold several thousand times in your mind.

You look down at the floor, clutching your head in your hands. You’ve got to be stronger than this, you feel – if not for yourself, but for your sanity and everyone else around you – at least, that’s how you try to assure yourself. The ever-shifting tempest that is your sanity is lost to the echo as your attention turns to the refrigerator, still overturned as it was last night.

“I see that you had a wonderful night,” a familiar voice quips. The tone draws your gaze – and you sit up a little as Anno makes herself visible, setting a parcel down on the fridge. “Are you doing okay, Aedhann?” She asks, seeming to shift from the cold-hearted persona to become relatively worried in regards to your mental health.

“I’m fine,” you lie. She seems to already know that you’re a hard nut to crack, and eases off.

“You weren’t lying about the door being broken down, at least. The fridge – maybe. I don’t think that an assailant would have tried to fortify your position,” she smirks.

“The replacement for your NerveGear is in this parcel. I did mention getting you screened, to see whether or not the microwaves did any damage, did I not?” She leans over the fridge, crossing her arms on the cool metal.

She’s wearing what appears to be a school girl’s uniform, and at first you feel that it’s a sick attempt to suggest that you might be into that kind of thing – though, ever so tactfully, she traces your gaze.

“I would hope you’re not staring at my chest, Aedhann. The first proper meeting, and I’d assume you’re not that shallow.”

“The uniform seems a little out of place,” is the first thing that comes out of your mouth.

“I’m not certain what you mean.” Anno responds.

“You’re supposedly government. Why dress like a school girl?”

“Ah. I suppose you would like an explanation for that, if anything. They have me moderating the Sword Art Online survivor’s school,” she answers. “Student guise, psychological counseling – that sort of thing.”

Psychological counseling? That seems to imply she has an education on the matter.

Trying to very loosely come up with ideas for a pathfinder campaign, need input on loopholes or path divergence that I haven't come up with ways to block off.

Later on I will, take the story off rails, but for now I'd like the first few sessions to familiarize players with how I'll be running it. Need pointers on that as well, because free roam pathfinder seems so ridiculously expansive to be driven towards a conclusion.

Our story begins with our hero's walking along into the woods! Quickly on their adventure to find a dungeon or something!

We find our heroes sitting at a campfire! Darrell dropping small logs and branches on a pile beside their campfire.

>DARRELL: "Bwooop! I think thats all she she wrote! Think that'll be enough for tonight?"
>OLIVER: "With as much wood you chopped, its a wonder why we dont have a cabin instead."
>DARRELL: "Haha! That sure would be somethin', Wouldnt it?"

The mage sits down on the log where his dear friend Prince Oliver sat, stretching in front of the small fire they had started for the night.

>DARRELL: "Nothin' like a warm fire, good friends, and this great big thunderboar meat! Aint' this the style, Ollie?"
>OLIVER: "I think it's more 'the style' when i get to keep all my fur!"

Oliver runs a paw over a scratch over his arm, a small injury he managed to get from their fight with the thunderboar.

>OLIVER: "Although, slaying and eating the beast that delt me such a mortal blow is quite a conquest! And good company is nice too, i suppose."

>DARRELL: "Haha! I know you enjoyed the good bout of the hunt! Man, despite the small skirmish, today went pretty well. We got a great meal, made good headway on the road, and it didn't rain like i thought it would! Today turned out pretty alright!"
>OLIVER: "If you had just let me shoot at it when I saw it in the woods this afternoon, the fight would have been much faster and cleaner. But no, you decided that the dark shape I saw in the underbrush was 'really little,' and 'probably a squirrel,' and then BAM! Two hours later we're in close combat with a thunderboar and I have to rely on your slower weaponry."

The two have a good laugh, recounting their fight.

>DARRELL: "Pshaw! Dude, my Crystal Blade is way cooler than your lil' 'pechew pechew thwip thwip' Bow!"

The mage laughs, lifting his hands to summon the weapon in a splended act of the mundane weapon holding, hopping around and striking at the imaginary foe.

>DARRELL: "WOOSH SLASH CHOP!!!! And just like that its down! Dinner, anyone?"

The two share another laugh, Darrell sitting down and reaching into his pouch for a jagged yellow flute, another spoil from the beast, giving it a small 'toot'.
>DARRELL: "Dude, this little thunderboar horn is so wicked."
>OLIVER: "Can you actually play music on that?"
>DARRELL: "Dunno. More of a singing and dancing guy. Word on the beat is that Thunderboar horns are magic as wack, jack."

Darrell shrugs, holding it up, peering at it and sort of... makes noise with it. Sort of sounds like 'Mary had a little spiderdragon' but that would be a stretch.

>DARRELL: "Meh. Win some you lose some. Plenty of time to practice on the road." he shrugs.
>OLIVER: "Whack magic, huh? Sounds like a party to me. A magic music party. Ooo, imagine a party with magic music though, how radical would that be! Maybe we can find someone who knows how to play? Or maybe you'll learn and we'll party it up on the roads between destinations! But what if it's bad magic...evil magic!!! We could be in daaaangerrrr! Ooooo~"

>OLIVER: "Pfft, show off," he snorts. "I was joking for funsies, I know magic isn't all a crazy party or whatever. It's fun to imagine though. Finding forest's center is so hard though, we've been looking for days. Are you sure that warrior lost the Royal Dagger in the very center of the forest? That seems a little far fetched to me. How is there even a definite center? If it's in a clearing in the center of the woods, we should have found it by now."

>DARRELL: "maybe we have to make a clearing. Like, if we were to chop down all the trees around our camp, then the dagger would like, manifest itself. Maybe its one of /THOSE/ quest dealies."
