Last time, Roarke Starwind and the Iron Kestrels took over 16-Psyche by force and beat up absolutely everyone that wasn't Duke Eustace and the Oliver or Countess Tabitha Roosevelt and the Engeler. However...that doesn't have much to do with you. Yet.

Instead, you've had a relatively pleasant but tense time of things in the interim (and yes, the timelines are now synched up, what's happening today is occurring shortly after Roarke's return to Auditorium). The fact that things have been peaceful since your last adventure is, in fact, part of the reason why things are so tense.

The descriptions and pictures of the Qu'liri you identified in the caverns beneath the abandoned church have been circulated wherever the UJCIDF has troops on this world, for one thing. You saw (and photographed with your PC) some of them dressed in the fatigues of the local Innsmouth gendarmes, and consequently the entire force has been grounded and barred from their mecha until the slow and laborious process of thoroughly vetting them for traitors has been completed. Those you saw were, indeed, identified by their superiors...but they never returned to base and remain at large. This means that despite the additional Martian pilots (those who are left after the killing spree of the Berenger) you're flying an awful lot of routine patrols and have had to pull more than one double-shift. Such is army life.

Speaking of the Martians, they're on the verge of becoming a problem as well. Most of their pilots may have gone to paradise after gloriously crashing their Scimitars into the Berenger, but the ship's MPs and crew are still at full strength, and the first thing they did upon arrival was confiscate a local dwelling to turn into a mosque, and you have heard rumors that the clerics accompanying them have been using rather stronger tactics to get the local Qu'liri to consider conversion to Islam than you, personally, are comfortable with. Worse still, with the local guards under suspicion, the Cicero has been reliant on the Martian troops to help keep order, which has spawned even further incidents. Captain Clearwater has been livid about it, and more than once you've caught him shouting at the Martian Captain over vidcomm.

Since DER KRIEG ended, I have taken up the liberty to start up a new Politics sim. I will update several times a day, and it will be more user ran than I'd like, but I'll do my best.

The Year is 1950. Europe is in shambles. The Russians have abandoned Europe. Now, New governments must take Europe under their wing.

The Russians haven't totally given up on Europe, as they cut the continent in half.

In what was once the Heart of the Nazi Regime, lies a new state formed from Switzerland named the German Corporate Council, spanning the Alps in the south, To the lowlands in the north. A new self proclaimed state in Former Germany has also rose from East Prussia to Thuringia, known as the People's Republic of Prussia.

Across the sea, A group of terrorists funded by the Soviet Union, nicknamed The Motherlands Sons, have laid claim to several small Aleutian islands in the US territory.

Currently the Dark colored Nations are unplayable, rather because they're claimed, too irrelevant, or too powerful.

Alright, so the Sons of the Motherland will start constructing small docks for ships on the island. We will also send a small envoy to the Soviets to negotiate what support they can give us. We need men, cash, weapons, explosives, and whatever support they can give us if they want Alaska. We will just gather intelligence, and manpower, until we can launch a full attack, and separate Alaska. For now, having a base of operations on the islands will be nice.

In fact, the Russians have obtained so much power, that even neutral states have taken up sides. Now is the time to take sides, and plan what to do about the ever growing problem with the rising wall between two worlds. One of free men, and one of Expansionists and darkness. Is the border wall going to keep one side out or to keep the other in...? It is your call, but you must take a side.

Archeology. stories always made it seem so exciting. tomb raider, indiana jones, all those old pulp novels.
turns out all it involves is sitting in a dusty hole in the ground cataloguing pieces of broken pot.
hardly any adventure at all.

you are a second year student of archeology at a reputable university in england.
the archeology department is incredibly underfed however, making due with one senile professor and enough money to scrape by.
your beginning to consider switching your major. maybe philosophy.

but its time for another day of your current existence first.

your alarm goes off, letting out a series of high pitched beeps. you groan and roll out of bed smacking at it and managing to shut it off.
you get up and get dressed. it looks like your roommate didn't come home last night.
suits you just fine.
you get your bag and adjust your glasses, ready to head out into the world.

when you arrive at the lecture hall, its just a sad sight as usual. the university's smallest hall, there's only a smattering of other students here, as well as professer willow.

"What do you mean?" I ask tiredly, trying to tie my hair into its usual ponytail as Ginrei looks at me with his usual, hard to read expression.

"Oh, forgive me, I wasn't clear enough then" the old man says calmly as a servant rushes behind him, trying to clean up the deck "or perhaps you weren't here enough to understand, I said you could take the day off"

I tilt my head, still struggling to tie my ribbon. Lord Kuchiki sighs, and I swear for a moment his wrinkled face lights up with a smile.

"Hmm, from the look on your face I can see you're still quite confused" He says softly, closing the door to my room, with a light chuckle "What I'm telling you is you don't have to show up at the barracks today, You can do whatever you want with this day...so long as it isn't unlawful or otherwise reputation ruining"

"Why?" I ask, my lips curling into a frown "Did I get in trouble for something or?"

"Ever dutiful as always I see" He says, shaking his head as I finally manage to tie my ribbon tightly enough "and no, unless there's something you're hiding from me"

"Oh...well nothing important" I say calmly, scratching the scar along my cheek"A bottle of sake under my dresser, and all the paintings my younger sister made for me, but anything serious? no of course I'm not Lord Kuchiki"

"Then you aren't in any sort of trouble" He says, as I stand up and stretch a few aches out of my back

"So why are you telling me not to show up at the barracks, then?" I ask, yawning half way through my sentence "Because that sounds like the thing someone does when thinking up a punishment, to me at least"

"I just thought you needed a day of rest" He says, gripping the hilt of his zanpakuto "Even the hardest workers need to put their tools down eventually"

I frown a bit deeper, walking over to the fresh Shihakushō I had left out last night on the dresser, so I didn't have to gather it when I woke up.

"I don't like it when someone calls a blade a tool" I sigh, still waking up "Especially mine...so why do you think I need rest, Mi'lord? Its not like I'm worn out or anything"

"You do good work, Kemuri" Ginrei says as I turn back around to look at him "that was a particularity stubborn soul you guided to this next life, and I'm not commanding you to take this day off to do what you will, I am simply allowing you to, if you wish"

What do I say

So, not sure how OT this is, but would any of you /qst/ frequenters be interested in a quest serial about an occultist in the Shadowrun setting? I've had a side-story to the current campaign I'm running on the back-burner for a while, and think it'd work well as a /qst/-style game.

BEEPBEEPBEEPBEE-

Ugh, mornings. You wake up and rub your eyes blearily, glancing at your clock. 7:30 on the dot.

You are Alfreda 'Alfie' Nicholls, captain of Cromwell State College's not-quite-dead Tankery team, and you have a splitting headache. What's more, you can hardly remember yesterday. You... vaguely remember going to see the headmistress and Suzy saying she'd take care of it so you could go out for a couple of drinks... one day you'll find out where she gets contraband beer from.
First things first, you get a glass of water from the kitchen and chug it before dressing for a run. You're halfway through pulling shorts up your thighs before you realise Suzy's on your sofa and watching you. You immediately stop still, glaring.
"Don't let me stop you, Alfie~" Your gunner giggles.
"Why are you in my apartment."
"Couldn't be fucked to leave." She rubs her eyes, "Who gets up this early?" She also looks completely fine, the bitch.
"Me. Don't you need to get ready for work?" You start lacing up your trainers.
"Ugh, I guess so. Can I use your shower?"
"Go wild, I'll be back soon." You wave as you step out.
...
By the time you get back Suzy's already left for the command tower, so you shower, dress, and have breakfast. Oh, shoot, you forgot to ask Suzy about the mechanics club.
Hm. What to do?

You are Kurt von Schleicher, first Minister-President of the Prussian Union, Reichswehr Chief-of-Staff, and close friend of the King in Prussia, Wilhelm III of House Hohenzollern in the Year of our Lord 1921.

Much has changed since you fought in Verdun. The Germany you once knew and cherished has become a skeleton, a rotting husk. After the Treaty of Versailles, throngs of German patriots rose up in great protest of the government that would accept such terms. A long time friend of the German monarchy and General of the Weimar Reichswehr, you felt it as your duty to turn your back to the government that could only flounder, and order your men to enter Berlin and Potsdam, historical homes of the Hohenzollerns, and bring back the heir to the German Crown, Wilhelm III, and have him crowned in Berlin.

This display of defiance did not ripple well in the pond that was world affairs. Within the year, reserves of traitorous Germans, in conjunction with French and British reserves poured into Frankfurt and Stuttgart whilst you were still in Berlin. Rallying to your cause, a union of Bavarian socialists also declared the Weimar government unconstitutional and fielded their own ‘Red Army’ which overran Munich and Landshut.

That didn’t stop the French Third Army from marching to Berlin, and after days of savage shelling of the city center, forcing you out. Taking what men you had still loyal and gathering as much as you could, you retreated with the newly crowned king to Breslau, where you held your ground and repulsed five French attacks from legendary Marshal Ferdinand Foch. After a grueling six days of on-and-off combat, the Entente legitimized the Prussian Union, and ceded it lands from Silesia to Danzig.

Bavaria likes to claim it’s a separate country but in reality is just a swamp of socialists and communists with grand dreams of a workers utopia that will never be, choked by the demands of the New German Republic, a neutered dog that serves only to give France and Britain increased industrial power.

Your nostalgia is broken when someone knocks at your office door. Your friend, King Wilhelm enters, in simple yet regal garb, taking a seat at your desk. Outside, the town of Konigsberg seems relatively quiet. He lays a colored map on your desk, one of Europe today.

“My friend,” The king begins, motioning at the map, “the situation is quite dire. The Entente refuse to remove their warships from our sea lanes and I do not doubt that Austria, our old rival, would want Breslau back in their fold. Poland-Lithuania has somehow risen from the ashes of the old empire of Rus and our ally of Turkey has been overrun with socialists and revolutionaries.”

“As my Minister-President I am obligated to turn to you for council. I simply do not know what to do. Mayors and burghers come to me every day, begging for me to liberate their town from the Republic, that the new republic is forcing out the local nobles in favor of political yesmen. Factory owners write to me. The President is allowing the unions to walk over us, killing our factories. I recieve word from my Generals, every day, we do not have enough troops! Our navy is weak! They fear that the republic to the West will invade and hang them for treason!”

“I am simply at a loss. I was only a prince, but a few years ago. Now I am the King of a state set up to fail. I should have abdicated with my father! Damn you, Kurt, you lured me into this mess.” He seems to say angrily, but resorts to moping, holding his head in his hands

“Lieutenant! Lieutenant!”

Your ears ring. Here it is again.

Eyes up. Your visor is cracked, but the in-built repair systems quickly resurface it.

Where are you?

> MYRMIDO <
> THE OUTER RINGS <
> OPERATION: SILENT THUNDER <

“Lieutenant!” Your suit systems start to kick in again. You were knocked down by a plasma shell. You can smell the charred flesh right through your helmet. You can see the green fields of Myrmido all around you being pulverized by suit feet, bugs skittering across the grass blades. It's an absolute melee. “Hey!” You're suddenly knocked to your senses, “Lieutenant!”

You turn around. Dizzy. “Are you with me, baby!? Are you okay!?”

“... I'm fine. And don't call me baby!” you shout. MI troops are losing ground left and right. Riley and Howell are dead. Thames, Stavros, Kiermeier, and Victorino are wounded. Your radio is howling with activity. Everyone's very calmly telling you that the situation is getting worse. “Where's Dune!?”

“He's up front! We're losing ground quick!” You blink.

You turn around and see your Fleet Groundside Liaison, Zanovich. “ZANO!” you scream. He stops firing his MPAR, then hurries over to you. He readies his portable orbital relay, the antennae and the dishes on his back unfolding and standing up. “Zano! Sauve qui peut!” you scream.

Zano's young eyes go wide. He nods. He quickly relays to Fleet Command in orbit. “SAUVE QUI PEUT! I SAY AGAIN! SAUVE QUI PEUT!”

Fleet Command radios back. “Sauve qui peut confirm?”

“SAUVE QUI PEUT CONFIRMED!” he screams.

A plasma shell lands in the midst of you three. You lie on your back. Oh God. You turn onto your side. Zano has been torn in half, his radio still works. Zano. Damn it. Dizzy, where's Dizzy? Where's Dizzy!? “Di-... DIZZY!” you scream. “DIZZY!”

This is a nightmare. This has to be.

You open your eyes again and smell the faint smell of hot iron. You look down to see yourself naked underneath your bed sheets. And next to you is a small spread of breakfast on a tray sitting on a portable table. Past that, you see Mills at the ironing board, apron around his uniform. He whistles as he irons out your uniform, inattentive to you waking up it seems. “... Mills?” you whisper.

He looks up, smiling. “Ah, you're awake.” He turns off the iron, placing it down on the board. Oh your fucking head. Okay, there's the hangover. There it is. Ow, ow, ow. “Here.” He takes a mug from the tray and hands it to you. You quickly chug the coffee. Oh the nectar of the Gods. “You alright?”

“Y-... yeah,” you say. “Did you cook breakfast for me again?”

“Yep. Small spread, five eggs, eight toast slices, fifteen pork sausages, a spread of hashbrowns, some coleslaw, and a large glass of milk with the entire pint as well.” He rubs his hands together, watching as you drink the coffee up. Oh thank God. “You had a wild night last night celebrating the girls' success.”

“Did I?” you ask. You look at him. “I didn't do anything-”

“No, no, we managed to restrain you before you started coming onto some of the Recruiters,” he says. Okay, good. That would've been incredibly awkward. “Anyway. Burkett's taken the girls to go to the Federal War Museum downtown. Azuma's busy talking things out with Danner regarding the new staff we're going to be hiring today.”

“Alright,” you say. “Well, I should-”

He places his hand on your shoulder. “No, no. You should relax. You look the balls, Lieutenant. Just... watch Fednet or something, read a book if you'd like.”

> “Nope. Get me a fresh uniform, I'm going to catch up to the girls.”
> “Alright.” Turn on Fednet, see what's up.

You drift off

You see a strange light

What's it doing here

What does it want?

You feel the energy bursting around you

You are scared

The being whispers into your ear

"Remember..."

Remember? Remember what? Did I forget to feed the damn cat again? Did I not take the trash out?

"Stand still"

"It will all b e O ver"

"s o o n"
You awake

Unaware of your surroundings

What is this place

You see a piece of paper

It's a list

Yes a list...

A list of names

Since you can't remember your own you might as well take one of these

Who are you?

GOPNIK QUEST

The date is April 26, 1991.

You are a city gopnik named Boris who lives in Moscow, near the border of Ukraine.

Your gopnik friends Ivan and Mikhieal enjoy hard bass, shashlik, vodka/kvass, and the occasional moyaonez

However after a long day of squatting you go inside and turn on TV, and learn about the five year anniversary of Chernobyl disaster.

You and gopnik friends decide to take little to trip to Ukraine.

You have been saving up MANY ruples for a moment like this.

You call up Mikhieal and Ivan, and ask if they want to go to Chernobyl

Mikhieal and Ivan don't have to work for another two weeks, as gopniks do not work very often.
So they say why the hell not and you and your friends go into somewhat shady marketplace with 32,000 ruples(500 dollars about)

What do you buy for trip to Chernobyl?

We supply ourselves with the following:

3 Backpacks
1 Soviet-surplus Geiger Counter
3 Tacticool Gas Masks
3 Handles of Cheap Vodka
2 Bowie Knifes

Leftover rubles convert to Ukrainian currency and keep as floatable emergency currency. I like this quest.

Last time you, Nataniel Joseph, would find yourself speaking with Aerith after all that has happened so far. It started off with finding out of Erica's death by the hands of the wrath sin. And soon infiltration of the armies by Helios, only to be saved by Etrigan. After to be forced off by Ruth and her army of rifles. And than Aerith showed up only to show you a rune with writings that went from black to red, asking if you wanted to know what it meant.

You are Prince Meirion auk Gwyrren, the only sane man in a royal family with dubious concepts of strategy, justice, taxation, and governance in general. You have made it your goal in life to keep your family on the throne and your head firmly attached to your body.

===============

The camp's defenses are adequate for the job at hand. Spiked barricades provide cover for your archers and pikemen, you have watchposts set in the forest to make sure you're not flanked and you have supplies and living quarters close enough to rotate soldiers in and out, but far enough that the enemy won't be able to undermine your logistics.

"You set this up quickly," Connor mac Mead says as he looks over the camp.

"I've had the plans for a while," you say. "It was fairly obvious how this would go."

"Yeah, Ferrid's been in a horrible mood ever since his son got killed in a skirmish or something," Connor says. "He's been making more and more mistakes, and the little poke you gave him didn't help him much."

"I didn't do it for him," you say. "And it certainly paid off for me."

The messenger arrived just a few hours ago: Duke Ferrid's forces have crossed the border. They're marching fast - too fast, given the updates you've received - but there isn't much in their way, so you don't need to worry about the commoners getting involved. As you predicted, the army split in three, and the largest contingent is heading straight for you.

The reports are still too broad though, and someone needs to scout the area so you're prepared when the attack does arrive, or perhaps harass the enemy to slow them down. You're tempted to go out there yourself, but your responsibilities are here. You'll need to send a group out.

>[Military/1d10] Restrict yourself to a simple scouting force.
>[Military/1d8] Send someone to harass the enemy as well.

He is aggravated enough where a mongol strat of pulling him into a an encirclement would probably do wonders

So we can either further enrage him with harassment, or bait him into "things are looking up" mentality straight into a trap.

The 5th period of the second age, in the country of Almace, a tumultuous time of change. In the face of rampant unchecked magic and denizens of that strange realm, a pushback comes as normal, good God-fearing folk turn to faith in these trying times and reject the weird and fantastical. The Church provides the guiding light, not the false song of witches or those that dwell in the woods.

You are Alicia, a mid-20s human in this world. Unfortunately you are afflicted with that terrible disease of lycanthropy, and have become an alchemist by necessity, hoping to find relief in the mixed substances of the natural world. Some would seek to turn metals to gold, or to create an elixir of life, but you just want to cure your affliction so you can return home... some day.

As it stands though, for various reasons including your disease, you are a wanted criminal living on the run. You hope to clear your name and find a cure, and maybe then your life can return to some semblance of normalcy.

>Of yon currente events;

With your livelihood in the capital at risk, you cleverly snuck out of the city on a boat. Wandering through the wilds for a time, you eventually received help from a farming family, before finding your way to an orc settlement outside the capital.

The settlement is a strange place to you, as are the orcoid inhabitants, but it's a good place to hide since the authorities don't bother checking around here, and the inhabitants themselves don't much care about your human-society activities. Figuring this might be a good place to lay low for a little while, you gave up about half of your funds to purchase a portion of a store in a good location in the settlement. You also made a working arrangement where you sell potions to the business owner (a tool maker and repairman) ongoing, providing you with a steady, stable income.

So as your first proper day in town, what do you want to do?

What are our belongings?
Do we have any research or notes pertaining to alchemy and leads into curing ourselves?

Also

Your belongings consist of;

>25 guilders, a decent sum of money
>A bag chock full of alchemy supplies including ingredients, allowing you to whip up any sorts of potions or elixirs you can imagine
>A smaller bag of some useful medical supplies, like herbs and tinctures for healing, and important to you, several vials of powerful sedative
>A knife, mostly for your work but also for defense
>A bandolier of completed potions ready for use, mostly for offensive purposes, like turning the target into stone or releasing a cloud of smoke or noxious fumes
>A containment suit, vaguely reminiscent of a plague doctor's outfit minutes the beaky mask. It's handy for volatile alchemy work, serves to conceal your identity for those who might recognize you, and also removes the risk of infecting other people with your disease
>A carry bag with some basic necessities, like extra clothes, personal items and keepsakes, including perhaps most notably for your work, a dragon scale.

Included in your personal belongings are your notes on your work, as well as the writings of your late alchemy teacher. Unfortunately these don't contain much in the way of leads, just disappointments. You always had a feeling that your late teacher was on to something, but those promising efforts cost him his life. Unfortunately your attempts to duplicate that line of work, have only contributed to the scarring across your body.

Last time you FINALLY got out of the wretched catacombs crawling with undead. Thus managing both your objective to earn your apprenticeship under a necromancer and complete the mission for forgiveness given to you by the Shrouded One. Due to the whole getting in the way of coitus between the two who both gave you your mission.

There you met an interesting witch who later turned out to be your senior apprentice sister and the Mister Neutral the bandit diplomat who had gotten in a fight with a vampire. After taking care of said vampire the witch agreed to help you out on your quest through the catacombs. There you acquired the three keys from the gatekeepers. First through...well due to being a psion. Second due to entering a pun competition with some skeletons. Thirdly by chanting holy verses that brought a defiled temple to show its hidden might.

Turned out said temple had some secrets that you looted and discovered the leads to yet more places of possible looting. After that you somehow managed to bypass the final requirement being the Doorkeeper and left the catacombs behind. Thereby completing the trials and earning your apprenticeship.

There you encounter Mister Neutral yet again and got massively overcharged for some lessons before being put through HELLISH training of the highest order. Truth be told its a miracle you didn't get raped. Torture a plenty though but hey at least your now a legit psi magi now!

After that you went back to your current Employer the Shrouded One's base to some much needed rest. Including old world food held in stasis, fresh hot water in a luxurious bathhouse, and an extremely comfortable bed. Now if you had company that weren't a bunch of bots it would of been paradise...

After that you took up a new mission something you haven't done before that involved salvaging. As a scavenger you figured you would be in your element...and you were. It was just an agonizing process due to the bots refusal to acknowledge resources outside their own direct interest.

So much loot they passed by as if it were trash...almost intact areas they dug out through the wreckage but mostly ignored. Out of sheer frustration you visited a nearby survivor compound so as it to make sure its not completely wasted. That was how you became famous and a de facto hero.

Especially once you successfully talked down some raiders avoiding bloodshed in exchange for a bribe(which wasn't actually you but the bandit diplomat Mister Neutral). That was how after you completed your newest assignment and leaving Mister Neutral's payment on a corner. You were invited to a impromptu celebration by the survivors as thanks to the massive windfall you gave them.

Little did they know this was a part of a plot you had devised much to the satisfaction of your Employer the Arms Dealer and Shady Hardware seller known simply as the mysterious Shrouded One.

What do?
>Wait for the Neutral Bandits to show up for their payment
>Go celebrate with the other survivors
>Go back with the dumb bots
>Other?

Best we fulfill our end for the deal.

Then we can hang with the people.
