That day of the week arrived! Eagerly waiting for tonight's session.
Part 4 – Session 1
There are certain duties expected expected of all who serve Her Majesty in the extermination of the enemy and the betrayers. Ensuring the fitness and training of the lower ranks is one of the most vital, and one of the least interesting as a general rule.
This is not true of the assessment of gish.
There are only so many ways magic can be utilized, only so many sciences and devotions the psychic can manifest, only so many forms, drills, and styles the warrior may learn. Pioneers in these matters are rare when your entire culture is functionally immortal. There are only so many ways the body can move, only so many paths the mind can explore, only so many channels magic may run through. Those who have pioneered advances in warfare, magic, and the psychic phenomena are quickly set to teaching, and those to teach others.
Gish are an exception to this because there are nearly an infinite number of ways that psychic power or magic can be combined with warfare, and while the basic talents and skills remain the same the efforts of the gish can span a huge spectrum of capability. You own skills, for instance, center on devastating spell-strikes and long distance support simultaneously. Aeuna's are most likely close combat destruction and anti-caster specialization, if you are any judge of technique and style. You like to think you are. So the opportunity to test young gish is often a pleasure compared to assessing warriors or spellcasters. Sometimes skulkers can throw you for a loop, however; murderers less often (although Tzanzi was quite the intriguing and playful surprise, you must admit).
The twinned gish step forward, offering a very polite salute each, hands in front of their faces to ward off the hungry mouths and tentacles of the masters while keeping their eyes open and aware of their surroundings. Slightly nervous, perhaps but not fearful. They really are a beautiful pair, and again you find yourself wondering what prompted this situation. Falna inclines her head to you, somewhat deeply and you give her a curt not of acknowledgment. You will give these two a fair assessment, regardless of her reasoning or plans.
“Assessment first,” you inform all four of the people nearby, and the word catches the attention of a few other githyanki nearby, prompting curious looks. “Then, if you are capable, you may make your arguments,” and you glance at Falna to make her aware she will be making one of those, “to join my cadre. I am Gish-Arcane Akko, Companion to Yzia, Leader.” Most of this can be read even from your casual sash, but you're doing this by the numbers for the moment. “This is Gish-Psychic Aeuna, candidate for my cadre. I presume you know Warrior Falna, who has requested this assessment and interview.”
>>900733
You've started to gather a small audience now; not unusual, most of them just hopeful they will see something new. “Present your names and titles, and your highest honor.” The last isn't a necessity, but it allows them to announce to the few in attendance that they have merited attention from a Leader or Supreme Leader.
The twin with red eyes and yellow blade steps forward. Her voice is light and breathless. “Gish-Arcane Schechei, Hunter and Defender.” She removes one of the badges on her sash, and presents it for your inspection. It is one of Leader Savilieurds', golden wires tying together three amethyst spheres. Three of the masters in a single outing? There is absolutely no way these are mere acolytes, though you keep that to yourself for the moment.
Her seeming-sister steps forward, her voice firm and strident, more befitting her nature. “Gish-Psychic Kteine, Hunter and Defender.” Her badge is different; a circle of adamantine with a lightning bolt of silver piercing from one side to the other. Not a stylized lightning bolt, but a forked and wavering bolt, thick splitting into two thinner bolts. A standard siege breaker's insignia, indicating someone who penetrated the enemy defenses and allowed for a successful raid to be conducted and bounty to be taken. Not an insignificant achievement, and again, not typical of an acolyte at all.
You study the pair, noting their slightly different stances and their differently designed weapons, which is a good thing if it continues. If they've been taught to fight as a single unit, that is a deal breaker.
[] Drills first, see who taught them and what they prefer to use.
[] Inquire as to their fighting techniques first – especially if they fight as a unit.
[] Have Aeuna take Kteine first and begin her assessment, you'll start wit Schechei.
[] Direct one to attack, the other to defend and see if they will obey strange orders.
[] Write in?

>Akko, like all her kind, has a measure of psychic ability. She will simply use most of these powers without prompting, instinctively, when appropriate. Her spells are another matter.
>She is a high ranking Gish, and may give orders to low ranking Knights; mid-ranked Warriors; high ranking Spellcasters, Skulkers, and Murderers; and any Gish lower ranked than herself.
>Current Cadre:
Yzia: Adult Solar Dragon, lover and companion. She may carry Akko and four others.
Falna: Mid-ranked Warrior (potential antagonism); Class:Slayer, bound by Oath only.
Yashi: High-ranked Illusionist (drama queen and very, very, very old); Class:Illusionist Wizard, Bound by Oath only.
Tzanzi: High-ranked Murderer (damaged legend, old friend); Class:Slayer Archetype, Bound by Oath and Promise.
>Candidates:
Aeuna: Mid-ranked Gish (paid to assassinate Akko); Class:Psychic Warrior, Duel to Deep Blood and then may join.
Schechei: Low-ranked Gish (but is she really?); Class:Magus (?), being assessed.
Kteine: Low-ranked Gish (but is she really?); Class:Psychic Warrior(?), being assessed.
>Akko's Supreme Leader: Dunzamn, a Lord Knight with a True Silver Sword, heading the Raid of The Aristocracies.

I'm kind of sad Yzia didn't win the vote
"Amon, my beloved student...I believe it's time that I teach you."
The old, white-haired sage stands tall upon the crest of the grassy hill overlooking the wet grounds and surrounding coast of the Water Temple. His young student, already a respectable monk at only fifteen years old, looks up with curious respect to his aged master, Myatsuu. The late afternoon breeze carries away the silence between the two as it did on that same day so long ago in the Temple courtyard. The young man will remember this moment clearer than all the others though; the day is March 1, his birthday. The younger monk turns to his older friend from his cross-legged mediatation amid the hill's long grass, determined yet unabashedly confused at his teacher's odd comment.
"Teach me? This trip wasn't for just meditation?"
The ancient sage shakes his head solemnly. "No, Amon. I believe few are truly able to handle the depth of the secret I shall teach you today. However, it is something entirely necessary to achieve Enlightenment...The Gift of the Sages"
The student can only stare. This is a technique only referenced tangentially in the texts of the archive, never fully explained in detail. It is a mystery...or so he thought.
"The Gift of the Sages...a pure chakra of a nature beyond the physical elements. It empowers the user enormously and allows them to achieve a self-control of chakra unattainable otherwise. It is the fruit of ten-thousand hours, the culmination of a life's efforts. The pure white chakra fills those of equally pure ideals, those who have eliminated all self-identity, all material attachments, everything that comprises who they are...save a singular, defining purpose. Listen to me, Amon. This 'gift' is as revered as it is dangerous. Few can meet the costs it requires...and those that can are not necessarily the saints that others may be led to believe."
"To destroy one's own identity, to leave all worldly values behind, to singular adopt an ideal and allow it to consume you in both body and soul..."
The sounds of combat and the ever-stringent blows of monk Tai at the Temple below can be heard carrying through the air.
"...not all ideals are noble, my pupil. The Gift of the Sages is powerful, but...it does not require one's purpose to be moral."
Myatsuu faces you again, sun setting in the orange horizon behind him. For a moment, his face bears a degree of concern, but it quickly converts to ease at seeing his student's innocent complexion. "I have faith in you, Amon. I pray you may never need this warning, but...always remember the sanctity of life, the Ninshu, above all else. Should the choice ever face you, to respect life or to hold true to your own ideal, I trust you above any other to know what is right."
The Gift...a blessing to the few, the worthy.
Pure? Good? Moral? All there is, is cruel reality...one you could never accept, Old Fool.This...this isn't what you remember
The wraith rises from the grasses around the hilltop, pacing slowly over to stand next to the oblivious sage.
"To choose between another life or one's cause...is a fallacy."
"For choosing one would mean abandoning the other...and a life abandoned of one's greatest cause is a death in itself."
The two sages stand side by side in the setting red glow. One glows a soft white while the other leaves a trail of warm, bloody red in the air with every movement.
"Life is something to be conserved at all times, Amon."
"Life itself is an illusion: a cycle of death, waste, and regret."
"Believe in yourself, but never sacrifice another's life in the cause of faith."
"Are all ideals the same? Is it fair to compare the pursuit of paradise to the mundane, animal concerns of the flesh?"
Myatsuu smiles hopefully. "I know you will find your own way. Who knows, someday you may even become the next legendary Gate?"
"Your hour is nigh. Will you continue to be blinded by this crude matter around you?"
"Will you choose their 'lives'...or your own mission, boy?"

>Your name is Amon Shuu, a humble monk of the Water Temple.
>You have no family to speak of, another one of the many casualties of the 2nd Shinobi World War. Your luck pulled through when a wandering monk, Myatsuu, snatched you from the debris of a border skirmish between Konohagakure and Kirigakure with your village having been reduced to rubble in the midst of battle. You were 4 years old. The monk, Myatsuu, brought you back to the Water Temple in the marshy coastlines of the Land of Water.
>Nearly 14 years later, the Temple- your home- had fallen to attackers from the Village Hidden in the Mist. You travel across lands to deliver the merchant, Yoru, safely to his destination.
>Last thread you attained a new teacher, Lady Tsunade, and helped everyone recover from the events of the Heist. You tried to have several drinks to get to know your new master better but things quickly escalated into a test of ability. You blacked out soon after from the alcohol.

There once was man named Gold Roger, who was the King of the Pirates. He had fame, power and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the last words he said. "My tresure's up for the taking, but you'll have to find it first. I left everything I own in One Piece." Ever since, pirates from around the world set out in search of One Piece, the tresure that will make their dreams come true.

Before you can even react, Miss Green grabs you and holds you under her arm. Her arm feels strange, almost as though her skin is just a cover for metallic armor. She sprints unflinching through the cloud of dust, picking up Julia and placing her on her shoulder. Your stomach jolts every time Miss Green takes a step. Craning your neck, you try and calmly communicate your concerns to Julia.
"What the hell are you doing? This wasn't a part of the deal! Let me go!"
"Sorry, but this is for your own good." Julia says as she turns to face the horde of Marines chasing you. You watch as she pulls some explosives from her bag, lights their fuses, and chucks bombs behind you. You hear the boom and feel the heat of the explosion on your rear end. Julia looks like she's having to much fun.
"Are you kidding me? I'm the only one here that isn't a criminal!"
"On the contrary," she pauses to throw another bomb, "I seem to remember you sneaking into a Marine base to emancipate an extremely beautiful and deadly prisoner."
"Thank you ma'm. He also rendered a Marine guard unconscious." Miss Green adds as Julia turns to you with an extremely condescending look
"Well now! It appears our little Wave is quite the felon!" Julia says before a crashing noise calls her attention back to the crowd chasing you. She looks terrified.
What do you say?
>"Not if I ensure there aren't any witnesses."
>"FUCK YOU AND YOUR ROBOT MAID!"
>"Fine then! What do we do now?"
>"You're not gonna get away with this!"

Welcome back QM
The year is 1986. Crime in the United States is at an all-time high. Criminals, drugs, and guns flow into the country from everywhere in the world, and the gateway to it all is Heat City. In this coastal paradise of hot beaches, cool babes, and cold hearts, to get what you want, you have to do whatever it takes, and more. Welcome to the End of America.
You are Johnny the thug, just another two-bit ex-con trying to make a living. After a series of ambushes, betrayals, deals, and gunfights, you and some new friends have a job worthy of a proper heist crew. Catherine plans to rob Dragon's Nest, a Triad fortress for drug money. And you're taking point.
This could be your ticket to real money, a chance to make something of yourself. Of course, the last time you thought that about a job, it ended with you on the run, and half the crooks in the city after your blood. Maybe this time will go better.

Previously on Thug Quest, you smoked weed, ate pizza, and watched cartoons with Nick and Alex. Oh, and there was something about you stealing a black-market EMP device from a clandestine deal between Black Spear, a criminal organization within the police, and the Colombian cartel.
Things went south, as they usually do, until Alex took out two vans of Black Spear guys with a single bullet. Which made part of you want to ask her to make sweet, hot love to you right there on the hood of the car. Of course, it was Ken's car, and he might object, especially as you were still driving away from the real police at the time.
On the plus side, you've successfully stolen a small thermonuclear device. So that's good. Catherine assured you this wouldn't come back to bite you in any way. Maybe she was even telling the truth.

Come home from work to one of my favorite quests, excellent!
[Stress= 80]
You pace your bedroom, grumbling to yourself and occasionally suppressing the urge to leave this shitty village behind and just let whatever god gives a fuck to deal with your goddamn problems. Seriously, how in hells name are you supposed to deal with a failing farm that seems to have a personal vendetta against you? You’ve tried corn, turnips, and even fucking potatoes, they all fail and you just fall further and further into debt to your ‘pal’ Ralph, while complaining about your FUCKING FARM you hear some banging on your door.
“???, it’s time we had a talk about this debt you owe me”, Ralph and his fucking deep shitty voice thinking he’s hot shit because his father is one of the biggest land-owners in the kingdom. “C’mon ???, we can talk this out, we’re adults, we can solve this without me calling the boys over ‘ere.” And now he’s threatening you, fucking great, you wouldn’t mind talking your fathers old sword out from behind the door and telling hi-No, MAKING him fuck off.
Alright, calm down-err, shit, do you even have a goddamn name? Funny how you’ve never noticed it until now. Maybe you should attempt to remember your name before you deal with Ralph?
>Name yourself [Possible Stress Increase]
>Lets just deal with this shithead first

Alright, you're calm, you're cool, you're also Huntley motherfucking Penn. Why were you even so heated to begin with? You’ll eventually be able to turn your farm around, it’s not like you knew much about farming to begin with. You then hear your ‘buddy’ Ralph continue banging on your door like a madman, you really should’ve just let him in, he really doesn’t like waiting for his money, not like you’ve got any for him either.
[Ability Gained: Relax]
[Stress reduced to 55]
>Offer to take him to the tavern to talk things over, you'll try (and probably fail) at fixing his problem with women [Charisma] + [Lust (pls no) ]
>Maybe you should just sit down for a spell, he’ll calm down eventually and you’ll be able to talk to then [Sloth] + [???]
>Why should you be scared of him? Just open the damn door and deal with his shit. [Strength] + [Wrath]
>[Custom action]
You arecurrently2 hired mercenaries that were given the task to locate and deal with a rogue soldier that had gone AWOL about 2 months ago in this area. Intel has confirmed that he has taken over a few tribal settlements and formed a makeshift fortress deep in the forest.
As you emerge from a hastily built shack to shelter you from the sudden storm, you realise that you can actually see more than 5 feet in front of you now.
Pedro, the guide who offered to take you through the thick Amazon rainforest, comes out of the shack behind you and gestures to follow him now that the rain has stopped.

The Ptolemaios, Armor Corps' pride and joy, is one of the most advanced transports at the disposal of humanity. Equipped with several heavy plasma batteries and advanced shield generators, it's sleek blue frame is designed for stealth and speed, capable of outgunning everything it can't outrun and outrunning everything it can't outfight.
This, however, was most definitely not the Ptolemy. James "Burninator" Jones' "baby" was a repurposed C130, and it'd seen its fair share of conflict, if the plasma burn marks you saw on your way in were any indicator. Still, 'it gets the job done' is what he told you, and so far, it's been a quiet flight, broken only by the constant hum of the engines. If anything, at least the freezing cold made one think of the good old VR room.

Last time, your patrol was interrupted by a mysterious challenger who fell from space in a ball of fire. Although it ended in a draw that left your mech unable to fight, the worst was yet to come, as an emergency communication from the ship revealed that a large cell of native insurgents disguised as extremely cute maids had taken over the ship. You and your friend Garret devised a clever plan, donning power armor and pleading mechanical failure to avoid being taken prisoner with the rest, while stowing away in Simon's mech's storage compartment to infiltrate the ship unattended. Once there, a combination of stealth and brute force proved too much for the Qu'liri to handle, but now you and your emancipated crew face a new threat, in the form of the Avalonian ace who beat up your Pumpkinseed II and two dozen elite huscarls.
Worst of all, you hung up on your girlfriend, then put her into a conference call with the Avalonian leader. The only thing sparing you is the fact that he is an extremely convenient outlet for her spleen.

Recap: I am a slime that gains new abilities by killing. I currently have a pet dog who I share vision and hearing with and some baby slimes that I use to help me do things. I know a few things about some of my skills.
I was raiding a dungeon with a human and a snakeman/human when they trapped me down here and forced me to forgive them. I'm now in a fight with some really scary monsters.
I have my slime on the odd skeleton, but I couldn't get near the big skeleton. The frog ate my slime and I hit the scorpion on the back of the tail.
I attacked the small skeleton with a new slime beam from inside it's body, but using it's own bones to contain the blast it's made the slime beam better. It cracked the bone inside and the spine. Both are regenerating slowly. Slower than a skeleton normally would, but the weak point on the spine shouldn't regenerate like this.
I made a new slime cannon on the scorpion's tail and fired it to the scorpion's back. I could now attach a magic muscle to hold the tail to it. This will cost a little mana as long as it's on, but I can hold the tail down. Either way I'm near the face and it can't reach itself. It can kill it from here with absorption.
The skeleton flails around, not really sure how to attack me. The frog is puffing up. The scorpion is trying to get the rest of it's body inside. The big skeleton is building up a spell I think. I can feel it focus somehow. I think I've learned something about magic.
My demondog is freaking out. He refuses to look at anything but the frog. He's shaking, nauseated and his sight is blurry and wobbly.
>>893837
Kill the scorpion with absorption then move on to the frog.
After that we should try to slime beam the big boss.

Can we attack the frog from below?
