Veraga Prime was a buzzing hive of interstellar traffic, shuttles and ships diving and lifting through the atmosphere above the bustling mega-city. A chorus of information washes off the world through multiple spectrums, the stealth cloaked Eyegore bathing in the deluge and sifting through it for anything interesting it might find. It hid from the patrolling Confederate ships, it's cluster of eyes and sensitive organs twitching passively.

On the surface, amongst the teeming throngs of innumerable souls of the largest mega-city and space port on the planet, agents of the Necrotic Armada waited for their final meeting with the Wraithborn Cartel. Buddy and his partners, the vorh Eigha and the netu Clud, sat in the cargo bay of the Wick playing a game of cards with several of their Necrolyte guards. Their personal demi-Think Tank floats off to the side in boredom as it observes impassively.

Out on the landing pad they were renting on of the human Legionnaires sat on a crate smoking a foul smelling cigar and tapped her foot against the metal floor. The massive sky-scraping pylon they were on offered a good view of the city as the sun set and the buildings began to illuminate. The specks of ships in the upper atmosphere shone with the last rays of light, the space elevator miles away a sliver of golden light piercing the heavens.

The Legionnaire drops the butt of the cigar and crushed it underfoot but the excited voices from their neighbors at the port caught her attention. Around her people of all species were emerging from their ships or the pylon itself and staring up in awe as they chattered among themselves. Looking up she gave a start then shouted for the others through the open cargo doors. Buddy and the others emerged, bickering over the last hand dealt but fell silent as they looked up.

Floating, just above the atmosphere and illuminated by the last rays of sunlight was a large fleet that had emerged from sub-space only minutes prior. Yet it was the massive battleship at its core that drew everyone's attention. Your Eyegore stares in bewilderment at the great capitol ship bristling with weaponry that rivaled the Charnel Vault but it's design was far more archaic than the modern Confederate ships.

A relic of the old Alliance of Planets, the bane of the old Necrotic Armada, the Dauntless has resurfaced.

Welcome to “A Cold Common Quest” This is lighthearted somewhat wacky short (hopefully) adventure in a little more advanced (but not really) medieval fantasy-esque world. You, the player, will dictate the actions and decisions of our main character and his chances of success rely on your character’s abilities and if it makes some sense in context. Have Fun!

Disclaimer: My English is not great.

Discord: discord.gg/WzuFu8D (If you’re into that, not really important)

You’re Wilge, a young 17 years old man with no real aspirations or abilities. You grew up under the strict rule of your master/mother figure/whatever in seclusion, who for all accounts was a great witch who didn’t teach you a thing because you were a boy. Also you were just an errand boy to her and you spent more of your time cleaning her mess in the house. Sadly, your master died after 2 weeks of fighting a mysterious illness, she vanished with your home and your stuff in the process, magic works in mysterious ways.

Before dying she gave you a mysterious letter with instructions inside and told you to wait for someone of trust to come, everything will make sense in time. Old people are confusing.

And that leaves us to the current situation; you’re in the same place your home used to be waiting for whoever is coming, it’s in the deeps of a forest and is slowly snowing.

What do you do to pass the time?

>Read your Master’s Letter.
>Go to the nearest town ignoring your master’s wishes.
>Make a Snowman.
>Write In.

The Vasentii are descended from the Paitrans who originally occupied the lands before the Horde Wars and the Norse occupation of the lands. They swore loyalty to the Roggarian crown once the Norse warlord of Vaesdeman was deposed.
Before the creation of the HPE, some lowborn Vaesgyolan priests created a series of reforms in the Pantheonic church, wich went on largely ignored by everyone else.

You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, a powerful shinigami who's taken the time to visit the high school class where not only your living nephew and his friends are, but an exiled former Captain as well. It seems that Hirako Shinji has run into a situation he and his fellow Vizards are having trouble with, and so they likely came to Ichigo for help after having taken him in to help him learn more about hollowfication... for what good it did.

And in doing so he just happened to find you as well, come to check on Ichigo.

Sado stares intently at the open book on his desk as the other students chat, pretending not to know you're here. The other two young friends of his and the loud lesbian seem to take similar measures.

“It's not good to see you here,” Ichigo protests quietly... well quietly for him at least. “Every time you show up at my school it means something bad either has happened, is happening, or is gonna happen soon. So which is it?”

“That's not nice, Kurosaki-kun,” Inoue reprimands your nephew in a tone that makes you want to claw your ears out with your fingernails for some reason. “You should be more respectful towards your aunt.”

“Actually, I'm glad you're here for once,” Shinji admits in a low voice. “Something's come up.”

“And what is that?”

He glances around cautiously before leaning in to speak in a whisper. “Lisa's gone missing. I want you to help us find her.”

Lisa, is it? You have to admit you wouldn't stick your neck out for all of the Vizards: you're not totally sure that you've forgiven Mashiro for infecting you all those years ago, Rose is a bit of an arrogant prick, and if someone had done something to Kensei you'd track them down just so that you could shake their hand. But the few times since the incident where you've spoken with her Lisa's always given you a fair chance, which is more than most in the Seireitei were willing to do at first. You also remember that as a Lieutenant she was one of the more respectable ones... unlike Hiyori who was, is, and probably always will be a pain in the ass.

“Okay then,” you nod calmly, replying in a low voice. “But not here, I'd have too much cleanup if anyone overheard us. Follow me, ten seconds behind.”

With those instructions you leave the room, walking out into the hall and down a flight of stairs to the back doors of the school's main building. It's just outside, where no students are currently supposed to be, that you have Shinji explain what he knows.

“When did you last see her?”

“She was supposed ta call in after her mission,” Shinji begins to tell you the details of the situation. “That was fourteen hours ago.”

“So about six last night,” you muse, doing the math in your head. “What was this mission of hers?”

“There are old barriers throughout Japan, usually at shrines. Sometimes we get calls from humans about somethin' being wrong at one of 'em, so we send someone to investigate. Make sure the barriers are stable, you know?”

“So which shrine was Lisa sent to?”

Shinji sighs, rubbing the back of his head. “Bodai-ji, actually. In Aomori. Got a call after the festival this July but didn't think much about it, then we got another call two days ago.”

Bodai-ji? The one that Japanese buddhists treat as the entrance to purgatory, where every year or so a bunch of old blind women get together and claim to channel the spirits of the recently departed? That can't be good, why would they send a Lieutenant there alone?

“What sort of incident are we talking about?”

“A blind seer died during the festival,” Shinji recounts. “Then just recently a priest went missing.”

“Any chance he was just floating face-down in the lake?” you ask hopefully.

Shinji shakes his head. “Lisa's first report said she didn't find anything right off.”

>Then I'll go to the temple. You all should stay here, this could get... weird.
>I'll need Hachi and one of your Captains as support. No one else.
>I'll need Hachi and someone from back home. You can send one person.

"-look we need to climb over the fence, and the back door is-"

"Jace this really isn't a good id-"

Jace silences your frantic whispers with a glare and a hand shoved over your mouth. You grab at the pale, overly-freckled arm in vain with his grip firmly planted.

"Look Nate," your eyebrow twitches as you meet his green eyes, "If you're gonna be a pussy about seeing real, honest-to-god tits somewhere other than your headset in bed," you struggle more as the larger teen taunts you, "then fucking leave!" his whispers grow louder and you jump back as he loosens his grip.

To hide the tear in your eye at the humiliation of being man-handled by your only close friend you grab the chain-link fence and stare at the building several yards away. The faded pastel colored paints on the walls of the abandoned shop give hints of an old department store from your parents' time tucked into the corner of the older sections of the city, likely driven out of business and into destitution with the automation-boom of 2035.

You reach into your pocket and pull out the ratty flier that Jace had palmed to you earlier in the week during class, "The Madame's Circus" was printed in large neon-green letters, below it dozens of small pictures of exotic women and men in various states of undress, arousal, and strange apparel. "2:00 A.M Saturday at the Candy factory - 21+ - $100 cover" you crumple the page up again before you get too focused on the imagery. The 'flier-shows', as you'd heard from friends online, were live burlesque and sex shows that were deemed highly illegal several decades back, and like most things in society the perverts and scum couldn't stand for the decency laws of society, making the shows their brain child.

Most teenager would be happy with their headsets like Jace said, but no, you had to be dragged along on his insane misadventures yet again for the chance of seeing live tits before you turned 15 - ergo the grand plan you were now stuck with: sneaking in through the back of an abandoned warehouse to see a bunch of beautiful perverts perform their art. Your body said yes to getting in there, your mind had some more obvious reservations to getting killed by some thug.

Welcome to Fort Kinslayer, a prison where the worst of the worst of people in this fantastical land are sent. Deep in Treval Valley, lies this Prison country and all of it's inhabitants. Most prisoners are treated with the most vile punishments, but deep inside of it, corruption brews.

You are a newly transferred prisoner to the land. The prison you came from has had numerous battles with this one. You are a peace gift to end it all. You stand in line with the other prisoners, waiting to be judged. At the end of the line, there is a large Reptilera in a guard uniform. However, he also has a brand of a prisoner. He belongs in the life sentence department.

He looks up with his beady eyes and asks for your name.

He starts tapping on the wood near the metal gate to the entrance of the prison. You can see his thinking hard about your name and what relevance it has to him. During this time, you hear the other prisoners start shouting to get a move on before the guards smack them with the hilt of their blades. After a short time, the Reptilera starts speaking.

"Ah yes, Derek Lone, you. You have been transferred from Arsan Prison as a peace offering to the warden. Follow me then."

He snarls at another guard.

"Take the rest of the line. Make sure to give them the beatings they deserve."

The other guard salutes as the Reptilera grabs you by the shoulder. You notice this prison is filled with open fields with lots of room to roam. Albeit, dead fields. The stone walls of the valley up to the grey skies show a sense of isolation from everything else. Other prisoners start jeering you until they see the Reptilera that is dragging you along.

You eventually meet at a set of stairs where the guard is dragging you up. Other guards walk by, sneering at you.

>You're passing a field of golden grain on a chilly day.
>Sat atop a wagon with horses pulling you, your partner and cargo along with it.
>"It's very cold here Will."
"Jena, bear with me, it's only another day till we reach Barnes Hollow."
>She stares wistfully into the clouded blue sky ahead as the wind blows her blond hair back in the breeze.
>"Do you suppose we'll make a decent profit on these goods? We've never been out this far. And the rumors all suggest it's a town worth staying away from."
"I don't believe in ghost stories Jena, just the facts. Those rumors are what will give me a reason to drive the prices up so I can make a profit coming out here."
>She looks down.
>She moves around her little stub arms, cut off at the elbows.
>She doesn't like to talk about it, and you've been traveling with her since she was 14.
>It's been 4 years now on the road with her.
>She used to be a little more shy but now with you around she's really come into her own.
>Jena possesses a rare talent for cooking with her feet, she also likes to write and draw with her feet as well.
>She makes notes of sales and other important details, as well as illustrating with stunning detail.
>She cannot however comb her long blond hair, so you usually help her comb it and stylize it how she wants.
>When you found her she had many bruises, and whenever you tried to touch her she would flinch as if you were going to hit her.
>Jena is helpful to you though, she often observes the things you might otherwise miss or glance over, she's also a decent haggler and negotiator. Her prettiness and disposition have often earned you many an extra coin.
>"I won't be able to protect you if things get dangerous Will."
"I know this. Which is why the first sign of things going bad we're hitting the road."
>"Is it even worth it to head there? We could head back to Lagersburg, theres that pretty lady there that always makes us a squirrelmeat pie. You fancy her don't you?"
"L-let's not get off topic. Anyhow, I know for certain we'll make a greater profit in Barnes than we will in Lagers."
>"Well, Its up to you."

>You're setting up camp out in the open field at night.
"Who knew it'd really be this far?"
>Jena sighs.
>"Well, now that you've decided to stay the course, we'd better get a good nights sleep. Who knows what could happen tomorrow."
>The chill wind blows as you spark the flames for a fire.
"You're really worried about some spooky tales?"
>She's staring at the small flame you've created.
>"They say theres an evil witch who casts spells on the residents. Those townsfolk are scared. And when people get scared, they can get violent."
>You laugh a bit.
"I seem to remember a time when you were scared when I first met you. You were never violent."
>She's quiet for a moment.
>"I think, if I'd had the means to be violent, I would have been."
>You're stunned a bit.
"Jena?"
>Shes grimacing.
>"Forgive me, I've said too much."
"N-no, it's ok.. Do you want to talk about it?"
>"Will, please. I'd like you to drop it."
>You sigh.
"Alright Jena."
>A few moments go by as the flames get bigger.
>"Will, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude.."
"It's ok, I know you aren't ready to talk about those things."
>"No, please. It was my fault for even bringing it up. Will you forgive me?"
>You laugh.
"Of course, no need to be so formal about it."
>She cracks a smile.
>"Thanks Will.."

>You reach the town of Barnes Hollow.
>You begin to trade away goods for gold.
>"I see you're selling food, spices and paintings."
"Just a little something from the neighboring villages I've accrued."
>The merchant looks around.
>"The curses are getting worse around here. Strange things have been happening."
>You laugh.
>He gives you a stern look.
>"I'm serious!"
"Oh yes, tell me of these strange things."
>This aught to be interesting.
>Jena seems to be curiously looking around the town right now.
>Although you've told her not to wander too far off.
>"Yer a madman if ya don't believe em."
"Funny, thats what I'd say about those that do."
>He grimaces.
>"The daughter of the Mayor little Shirley woke up yesterday with a horses head in place of her own."
>You gasp.
"Someone killed her?"
>"No, someone replaced her face with that of a horse."
>His serious tone seems to lend credibility to what he's saying.
"Any other weird things?"
>"Wagons that move on their own, crashing into people. People going mute or deaf all at once inciting chaos."
"Thats.. Insane."
>"You'd best be careful. Anyways, 400 seems fine doesn't it, for everything?"
"It's a deal."
>>
>>957420
>You shake his hand.
>A better profit than expected.
>And only coming into town with a mere 10, you're at 410 now.
>You walk over to Jena who's talking to a little girl.
>"Ey miss, how come ya ain't got no arms? Did the witch take your arms?"
>"Never had any to begin with. What witch?"
>The girl bounces the ball.
>"The Hollow Trees witch, lives in an old tower out in the woods all alone, those who go never return."
"If they never return how do people know about her at all?"
>The girl shrugs.
>Suddenly a man in thick green plate armor rides up.
"Hmm, a Dahrbor knight out here?"
>Jena speaks.
>"Maybe he's heard about the witch.
>He walks up to the merchant.
>"I am Rogar of the knights of Dahrbor."
>The merchant raises an eyebrow.
>"And what does the old swamp king want with this town?"
>"He would see it rid of ghouls or whatever plagues it. That's where I come in."
>"Aye? Many have tried."
>Suddenly he spots you riding up to you.
>"You there, young man."
"Yeah?"
>"Help me find and slay whatever is plaguing this town, and I'll reward you."

How should I respond?

From the day I was born, I sought to see the deeper meaning in things. To this end, I fought, trained, and studied. I struggled to grasp at the straws of truth and knowledge I was shown.
I struggled to be great; I wanted to see my world bloom like the Cherry Blossoms of Konoha in May.

Instead, what I would find is the crushing end of all that mattered to me in this world...as well as the hidden truth I had unknowingly been searching for all this time.
Reality is a cruel nightmare.

Some may say my sight was taken with my eyes. They would never realize it was they who were blinded by their own hopes and dreams, like those same cherry blossoms destined to wither away ere long.
But in these past months, my most treasured nightmare has seemingly rose from her ashes.

I saw her die with my own eyes.

Sheets of paper coalesce in the night sky, taking a slender, fragmented shape of a beautiful blue-haired young woman. "You've watched him too, haven't you? You've seen it, the powers of the tailed beasts, in action. The monk is the key to our goal. I need to tell Nag-"

"Do not tell anyone of this yet, Konan."

She looks at you expressionlessly. "...and why would I keep something like this a secret from him?"

A small flash of red pierces through a hole in the man's spiral mask as he looks upon the blonde teacher and her pupil stumbling drunkly home.

"Let's just say...I have some things I need to see first. Please, feel free to inform HIM once I am finished."

Rin...how is it possible?
...and just who is this monk?

>Your name is Amon Shuu, a humble monk of the Water Temple.
>You have no family to speak of, another one of the many casualties of the 2nd Shinobi World War. Your luck pulled through when a wandering monk, Myatsuu, snatched you from the debris of a border skirmish between Konohagakure and Kirigakure with your village having been reduced to rubble in the midst of battle. You were 4 years old. The monk, Myatsuu, brought you back to the Water Temple in the marshy coastlines of the Land of Water.

(Continuing from last thread's vote)

>Tsunade is revered as the strongest Taijutsu user of the Sannin...and for good reason. You would be hard-pressed for better instruction. (+.5 Taijutsu)
>Tsunade pushes your natural, and enchanced, stamina to its very limit. No rest, no breaks, and no mercy from this woman. (+.5 Stamina, Choosing twice will give additional control when releasing the Seal of Babylon) x2

"So, this is where you were hiding! Hangover or not..I told you tobe prepared to begin training immediately, no exceptions!"

You manage to stumble to your feet, although scattering your materials around the floor in the process! Outside, you see the receptionist huddling behind the counter with a scared, despairing expression as he stares at the destroyed remains of the door. You can only stammer at the sudden dynamic entry. "W-Wait, aren't we going to warm up or meditate bef-"

"NO EXCEPTIONS!" Tsunade bellows as she grabs you by the scruff of your robe and firmly drags you out onto the streets outside, past a snickering Rin and Shizune.
-----------

Tsunade made it fairly clear she intended to train your stamina first and foremost. By train, you mean mercilessly destroy.
By "made it fairly clear", you mean she quite literally threw you into the thick of it.

"What is the first rule for a medic or non-offensive combatant?!"

You pant both physically and mentally as you take the twentieth lap around the city while wearing the weighted clothing she tossed on you. "I... *heave* think...*puff* help your comrades...?"

"WRONG! DON'T. GET. HIT!"

Thus began the second phase of the run, otherwise known as the "live fire" laps. With dusk finally setting, the exercise ends and you collapse onto your chest -nearly unable to breath, let alone feel your legs.

"I've seen better, Amon- sloppy, too sloppy. Go rest up, we continue first thing again tomorrow morning. Oh...no drinking this time around, too."

Everything is pain. There's still some time tonight to get something else done, though. Maybe Tsunade took some pity on you...though you shudder as you think of what that would mean a serious training session is like.

>Just go back home to rest, whatever extra sleep is worth it
>Go back to the bar from before. You could use food and some fluids... no need to drink alcohol though
>Try to find a spot outside the city to relax and meditate
>Visit Tai
>Try to find Yoru to discuss what he's going to be doing in the meantime as Tai heals and you train

You are Carya Marseille-O'Hara, a Captain and newtype mobile suit pilot in the Colony Transit Fleet. So far your stay on Luna has made it seem that trouble will never stop following you wherever you go, as it seems that every single time you try and do something you practically trip over another conspiracy, or else someone comes after you as part of a conspiracy. First it was the Von Braun branch of Anaheim Electronics asking for your help in testing a new mobile suit clearly designed for use by your newtype-heavy organization, a weapon which disturbingly enough supports full AI integration. Though it did allow your sister's soul to take the machine over by sharing your brainwaves, it also begs a whole series of questions about the more widespread use of AI in combat roles. ALICE, the only truly 'intelligent' AI you've worked with or even ever heard of, is one thing... mass-produced shadows whose emotional responses and ethical concerns are dictated purely by lines of code rather than by independent thought and experience are quite another.

Then there was the Lunar military's attempt to force your mobile suit down while you tested its maneuvering capabilities, an obvious move to create an opportunity for industrial espionage. They had to settle for photographs, as you managed to resist their strongarm tactics long enough to resolve the situation peacefully, but this too falls into a disturbing pattern.

Now, after having agreed to help Artesia Som Deikun lure her brother out of hiding in Von Braun's lower levels, or at least expose the man posing as her brother for unknown ends, you've stopped a kidnapping of a potentially talented newtype girl. Unfortunately, you were moments too late to prevent the murder of the girl's father, apparently some influential lobbyist if you're understanding the police chatter.

“The next step depends on young miss Paraya here,” Artesia insists, carefully placing things back in the girl's hands while trying not to overwhelm her. “Quess, do you want to help us catch the men responsible for your father's murder? The ones who tried to kidnap you?”

The girl leans out the doorway as a policeman in uniform carries a forensics kit into the room next door, presumably to begin examining her father's body for any evidence the gunmen may have left that could corroborate and supplement your own story.

“What do I have to do?”

It's actually a rather simple plan, literally so simple a child could pull it off.

Non-ferrous tracking devices will be placed on Quess's person: one in her left shoe, one in the elastic of her underwear, and one swallowed in a capsule. She'll then be released into “protective custody” by the local police, who will put out a series of statements detailing the nature of the crime and their response to it. Adenaur Paraya was killed while taking his daughter to the Newtype Clinic in an event seemingly unrelated whatsoever to newtypes, most likely a robbery of or an attempt at extorting the lobbyist that went wrong. Quess survived the incident unharmed and the perpetrators went down in a gun battle with police who cut them off in the garage, she's been released into police protective custody by request of the Colony Transit Fleet until such time as they can send a newtype officer to properly assess her condition and ability.

Then when Char, or whoever the man claiming to be Char, comes back for a second attempt at kidnapping? You simply follow him to his lair and grab her, ideally using the Sericea and your new mobile suit to destroy the mobile suits this man has smuggled into Von Braun.

“So are you following us so far?” you ask the girl, who's sat quietly through your detailed explanation.

She nods. “I... think so. But who is this man really, and what has he done wrong?”

“If it's really my brother he's always been something of a loose cannon,” Artesia explains sadly. “Our father was probably murdered by the Zabi family, and for years my brother waged a private war against everything Zeon had become. Now I don't think he knows what to do with himself, which is dangerous for a man like him.”

“And so you'll kill him?”

Artesia shakes her head, admitting her uncertainty about the point. “If he puts others at risk, and killing him would end that risk, then I feel we have no choice.”

>Agreed. The safety of Von Braun comes first, Char... or whoever this is... comes a distant second.
>We'll see when we get to that point, we don't even know if it's really him yet.
>Killing our old friend's brother, regardless of who he's chosen to be, isn't our first choice.
>Actually, we'd prefer to take him alive. If he's dead we won't get any information out of him.
>Other?

>Actually, we'd prefer to take him alive. If he's dead we won't get any information out of him.
We don't really know if any future attempts to kidnap other potential Newtypes would stop even if the ringleader has been apprehended. Better to get some info first as much as possible.

“Christians, hasten to help your brothers in the East, for they are being attacked. Arm for the rescue of Jerusalem under your captain Christ. Wear his cross as your badge. If you are killed your sins will be pardoned.”- Pope Urban II

It is 1095, and the Pope has declared the First Crusade! The Byzantine Emperor called upon Western Christendom for help, and has now been answered. Soon, the noble heroes of the Catholic realms will head towards Anatolia and the Holy Lands to save their eastern brethren.

The Players will take the roles of the leaders of this glorious endeavour. This will be a quest with nation building tendencies. There will be multiple player characters acting at once (hopefully at least somewhat) cooperatively.

The game is planned to consist of four Acts:

>Act I: Preparation
Wherein our heroes ready themselves for the ordeals to come with varying degree of success.
>Act II: Pilgrimage
Wherein our heroes attempt to reach the Holy Lands without being shipwrecked, excommunicated, or accidentally starting a war with our Byzantine allies.
>Act III: Crusade
Wherein our heroes battle the heathen hordes of the Seljuks and Fatimids and try to take back the rightful lands of Christendom whilst also surviving.
>Act IV: Spoils
Wherein our heroes negotiate, bargain, plot and bicker like churlish children.

>Random Info

Although starting during Act I will be beneficial, players may join at any point.

Dice rolls are always d100s. Higher is better.

I will reward role play. Getting into character and saying how you're doing something will always be given slight advantages over simply stating an action. Tactics in battle will be particularly susceptible to this.

Updates by me will likely be approx once a day.

There can only be one King of Jerusalem. You are all competing with each other.

There can only be a King of Jerusalem if the crusade is successful. Don't compete too much.

>Act II:Pilgrimage

Wherein our heroes attempt to reach the Holy Lands without being shipwrecked, excommunicated, or accidentally starting a war with our Byzantine allies.

>Aim

In this act, your aim is to reach either Constantinople or Sicilian Armenia so that when the Crusade begins to act, you're in place. If you are not at one of these locations at the end of the fifth turn you will begin to lose prestige and piety every turn until you arrive, as well as miss out on some of the action.

If you arrive early, you may continue preparations as you did during Act I, but with added misery. Likewise, if you are waiting for a more distant player to reach you to travel together, you may remain at your 'home' location and act as you did in Act I (lucky you). Don't hang around too long, as delays can happen during the journey.

Arriving early to the crusade may give you bonuses to prestige, favour or piety. It may also not.

In the past, low rolls have generally given you a choice (ie, lose a piety to gain a prestige). In this act, low rolls will often result in negative effects only, or a choice between different negative effects. After all, you are no longer at home, you are now crossing foreign (mostly hostile, at best vaguely neutral) lands.

>How to play a turn.

Add an extra category to your profile, called 'Status'. To start with, this should be set to 'Home'. I'll demonstrate using Esteban:

>Name:
BISHOP ESTEBAN
>Status:
Home
>Country of Origin:
Castille
>Position:
Bishop
>Colours:
Blue and White

>Home
When your status is 'Home' nothing has changed from Act I for you yet (or close enough).

>Travelling
In any turn, you may begin your journey. Make sure to tell me which area you're in (from the map), and which you're moving to. If you are moving together with other people, also tell me this. Once travelling, both of your rolls each turn will be used to travel. Roll two dice as normal. A travelling turn should look something like this (after your profile, which should still be included):

>In Spain
>Travelling to North Italy
>Travelling with (for example) Patrician Dodoni
>Ship/Land
>Any arrangements you have made (for this section of travel or any other one, eg 'ship travel arranged from venice to constantinople')

>Any Fluff.

Your rolls will get you a variety of events as you travel. Some will be good. Most will be bad.

Travelling as a group may mitigate some bad events. It may also make other ones worse.

The nations of the world will now begin to do things. Remember to check the announcements each turn if you want to keep up with what is going on. Sometimes I will give important hints in there as to what the Muslims of Byzantines are doing.

>Act II, Turn 1

>Announcements

The Pope has officially launched the Crusade, and all crusaders are to begin their journey to either Constantinople or Silician Armenia, to join our Eastern allies.

The next phase of the Crusade begins in 5 Turns.

The armies of Byzantium are mustering. The Empire is planning a campaign to retake their Anatolian lands. In 5 turns time they will move against Nicomedia.

There is rumour of war between the Sultunate of Rum and the Danishmend Turks.

Some travellers and pilgrims say that the Fatimid Sultanate is preparing to attack the Beylik of Jerusalem, and return the area to their ownership. It is said their armies are without number.

To Basileus Alexius II, Viceregent of God, Emperor of the Romans, Despotes of the Roman people, Autocrator of the Hellenics, and valiant shelter to his people, I greet you in the name of the God whom we both worship. My intention in writing the letter to you is to plead for your permission to make use of the ports of Athens and Constantinople, as I and others endeavor to aid in your grand reconquest of the lands vilely seized from you by the Seljuk Horde. Our journey is long, and for us to be able to carry out the will of God, we throw ourselves on your benevolence to ensure our secure arrival, in both fair resupplying, and in material for repairs. The fleet I am travelling with carries many thousands of Soldiers to aid you, and should we be impeded by misfortune, it would only be your generosity at these ports that would grant us succor against the attempts of the Devil to hold us at bay. I acknowledge that our peoples have not enjoyed the best relationships, but I ask that you look beyond that to the greater cause that God has called us to.

Its been a month since you stole 300000 nuyen from Msr. Dube and made off with the Goryo car in the warehouse. Sadly, its not the stunt car, but the model used in the "safer" racing scenes. Theoretical top speed of almost 200 MPH, functional top speed of 120 MPH. Fred's given the car a subtle red paint-job and altered the holotags to display a scene of a man meditating on a rock near a clear pool fed by a waterfall, surrounded by sakura trees, all animated in a classical Japanese calligraphic style. Could easily pass as the ride of a Renraku sarariman with more nuyen than sense.

You've managed to keep yourself busy during the past month. You spent a few days in and out of your body, tripping into the Astral Plane in search for answers to whatever... force, is interfering with your dreams. You started in the shallows, poking around the Metaplane of Man and its underworld, the Id. Then you started pressing further out. Kadath's frozen chambers, worn, ancient spirals that eat through the Metaplane of Earth- even questing into the infinite library of Cealano for answers to this, and to other, more troubling revelations. You managed to recover a photocopy of an ancient Arabian text that has shed unsettling light on the APEX Virus, but nothing you have translated thus far has been directly relevant to your problem: many of the ur-gods of the Deep Metaplanes can warp the dreams of mortals, but normally, these incidents are more mind-shattering.

You took Sudo along with you to Cealano. Perhaps not the wisest decision, but you have been trying to bond with him over these weeks. He is an eager student, receptive to your teachings. Perhaps, even TOO eager: he reminds you of yourself, when you started on your journey. You have made a note to keep an eye on him. To break up the monotony, he's been teaching you the ins-and-outs of Galactic Conquest. The game has surprising strategic and political depths, with the game's history filled with betrayals of as much intricacy and subtlety as any political plot in meatspace.

You've also, to your distaste, been spending time with Rhun. Contrary to your initial expectations, her expertise in history isn't merely an affectation: her knowledge of the subject equals, if not surpasses, your own. As a "thank-you", she's been teaching you the basics of unarmed combat and improving your knifework. You consider any form of thanks that ends with you covered in bruises in poor taste- as you said to Rhun, your preferences do not run that way- but you hold a new respect for her abilities as a warrior AND a scholar.

A couple weeks ago, your group went to Austin to intercept a package in the possession of the Human Dignity Party on behalf of Novatech. 2.4 million was offered for this package. After tracking it down to a ship headed to Tampa and intercepting it with the help of Tizona's pirate crew, your team managed to discover that the package contained a revolutionary technology: a lobotomized AI you have named Pygmalion, capable of producing subliminal messaging that, over time, is as effective as traditional methods of conditioning. Fortunately, its GPS chip was damaged in the firefight to retrieve it, so your team was able to claim it was destroyed by the enemy to avoid its recapture. It is currently in a secret location only Sudo and you know of, that can only be opened with both of your biometrics. Part of you is considering destroying it: as a joint project between NEONet and the Horizon Project, this thing is wanted by 2 Big Ten corps. The rest of you has serious qualms with killing Pygmalion: it seems to be wholly ignorant that what it was designed for is a profound crime against humanity.

Capturing an AI wasn't the only interesting thing that happened on that run. First, you managed to meet Barbie's brother, Lancelot, in person, along with his group. On a superficial level, he was charming, funny, and affable: beneath that, you saw someone who had crossed the sanity event horizon and was STILL ACCELERATING. You worry about the effect his mix of a demagogue's charisma and an asylum escapee's crazed worldview will have on the world.

You and Barbie also got... intimate, during a Thunderbird migration. You aren't quite sure what happened, to make your usual cold distance from matters of the heart melt with her. You also aren't sure if it was a good idea, since she seems to believe it meant something... much more than you had intended.

You think about all of this as you wait for your soykaf to finish brewing. Once its done, you take your mug and start thinking about how to start your day.

Welcome to Shadowrun Occultist Quest!

>What is Shadowrun?

Shadowrun is an RPG series set in the world of 2072, 60 years after "The Awakening", the return of magic, spirits, and fantasy races into the world. Metahumanity now lives in a world of advanced technology and magic, where megacorporations are above the laws of nations and one-third of all humanity have no legal rights. Crime and corruption run amok, and mercenary operatives known as "shadowrunners" ply their services to both the criminal underworld, and to the very corporations that officially fight against them.

>How are success and failure determined?

A number of d6's are rolled equal to the relevant attribute+the relevant skill. 5's and 6's are successes, and the dice are rolled against a target threshold (1 for something trivial; 6 for a highly difficult /intricate task. 10 for something next-to-impossible). Each 6 rolled results in one additional die being rolled in the pool. Results are as follows:

Target number of successes is met: the action is a success.

Target number of successes is not met: the action is a failure.

Target number of successes is met, but more 1's are rolled than any other number in the pool: a "glitch" occurs: a minor outside complication arises that prevents success.

Target number of successes is not met and more 1's are rolled than any other number: critical glitch. Your actions fail in a way that is potentially disastrous for your long-term goals or your health.

You will have 2 points of Edge each "session" that you can spend to tip the scales in your favor. When requesting an action, you may specify that you want to spend a point of Edge to add "luck" or "effort" to a roll. "Luck" will add five dice to the roll's pool (great for situations where Redd is forced to work out of his depth). "Effort" will re-roll all failed dice on a roll if it does not meet the threshold, glitches, or critically glitches (the point will be refunded if none of these happen). This is good when you are playing to Redd's strengths, but want to make sure you don't botch something.

Good luck, and remember the fundamentals of shadowrunning:

>Shoot straight!

>Conserve ammo!

>Never make a deal with a dragon!

>Rhun "Hela'R Dryw" map Gaelwynn
A short, toned, and angry Welshwoman who serves as your crew's close-combat expert and recon gal. Has enough chrome and bioware in her body that she could probably tank a fall from the 10th floor of a skyraker into an acid vat. Against all odds, holds a Master's degree in Welsh History. Likes: Parkour, sex, narcotics, alcohol, swordfighting, Welsh autonomy from the UK, Lofwyr (The CEO of Saeder-Krupp), Saeder-Krupp. Dislikes: The English, the Irish, the Scottish, Tir Elves, "wankers", people who don't like Lofwyr or Saeder-Krupp. Is trying to quit Bliss.

>Rex Stirling
A Chicago native and former cleaner for Saeder-Krupp, now demoted to shadowrunning due to a series of unwise decisions that started with a decision to do a hit-and-run on the leader of a major street gang. A veteran of the Sinai Shadow Operations of 2065. Consummate professional (apart from the hit-and-run) and a hard, hard man. Likes: clean runs, gray suits, the Chicago Shatterers Urban Brawl team, and "Pacey Rae", his Gauss rifle. Dislikes: Messy runs, being double-crossed, "wizard bullshit", you. Has some unresolved trauma from the Sinai.

>Sudo Morphus/"N0b0dy"

The crew's decker. Used to just be an IT nerd, until S-K got leverage on him for redirecting spam-mail from one of their subsidiaries back to said subsidiary's servers. You have the closest relationship to him our of anyone on the team. Suffers from Sudden Unexplained Resurgent Genetic Expression (SURGE), which gives him oily, bright-green scales instead of skin, along with a tail. Likes: MMO gaming, decking, the occult, "me time", you (in a platonic way). Dislikes: violence, being overworked, Rhun, himself. Mildly depressed.

>Tizona Cortez

An ex-pirate technically-nun, Tizona Cortez is your group's mage. She channels the power of God to smite your enemies and bring down the heretic government of Aztlan (formerly Mexico). Lives apart from the rest of the crew, in a convent in Charlotte. Likes: Jesus, helping the unfortunate, low-riders, sangria, Marlboros, fire, killing Aztlanti. Dislikes: heresy, blasphemy, apostasy, hangovers, Aztechnology, The Aztlanti, being ordered to spare the Aztlanti.

>"Barbie"/Lenore Lancester
Not a part of your crew, but a close associate. A total ditz when it comes to anything but fashion, smoothies, and calculating the thousands of variables needed to make the perfect sniper shot. Over 40 confirmed kills. Color-coordinates her duffel bags with her outfit. Suprisingly nice for a professional sniper. Does her work to help out her large family. Likes: fashion magazines, shopping, smoothies, small animals, her BFF Rhun, killing "bad guys". Dislikes: white after labor day, socks and sandals, unnecessary violence, reading.
