A Fenster Production

Classic quest is a co-operative skirmish fitted to retro rpg systems. Emphasis is on role-play and character interaction, with combat being simplified in front of the screen but holding depth behind. Players themselves choose what their character will do and the paths they will follow, but as a whole it is the group in collaboration who will pull towards one outcome or another.

If you enjoy the retro aesthetic, classic Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and other classic game systems then this is what you're looking for. Unlike the classic systems, the combat encounters are planned and should be intuitive enough to foresee their arrivals, and difficulties are pre-set in order to prevent time spent grinding just to complete basic quests. The system itself does include dice rolls, but they are all on back-end. All that a player needs to understand is their character and what they want to accomplish. Characters themselves will be capable of customization right away, holding unique sprites once they have acquired non-standard gear to equip.

For anyone wishing to play a character, just follow the steps shown in the image. Listed below is also a text-based summary as a sort of assistant primer to help provide clarity to your choices.

Step One: Get a Job
Characters begin play with a Job of their choosing, which can also be considered their class. Jobs provide proficiencies for weapons, and a subtle means to equip gear other than the character's arsenal. This includes new clothes, armour, and accessories. There is now also the option of starting as a Gobbo race, which is an option taken in addition to a job.
Note: The first letter of your Job's name will be your designation (Shown to be [A] [B] [C] [G] [H] [R] or [W] currently)

Step 2: Educate Yourself!
From your Job, pick two skills. An example would be a Highwayman taking [Aim] and [Threaten] after choosing a Rifle for their weapon. This allows them to constantly improve their chance to hit with their shots on top of dealing extra damage, and the ability to cover allies through intimidation.

Any two skills from that class are suitable.

If you decided to choose a Gobbo, then you only pick one skill from your class. The second skill is chosen from your racial options between [Beast Tamer] and [Journeyman].

Step Three: Arm Yourself
Of your available proficiencies, pick one. You'll get the standard weapon of that group, which will be visible in the next image for full detail. A summary of the weapon groups will be listed below.

Melee Weapons

Axe - Blade-headed weapons with a high damage output and capacity for inflicting a variety of debilitations on defenders.
>Carver - Hit: C, Dmg: B [Str: B] Traits: Beast Killer, Harvest

Hammer - Blunt-headed weapons with a high damage output. Focuses on denying defenders advantages directly.
>Humility - Hit: C, Dmg: B [Str: C, End: C] Traits: Power Smash, Smash

Knife - Short, bladed weapons with a tendency towards devious or clever strategies. Best in the hands of an opportunist.
>Promise - Hit: A, Dmg: D [Dex: A, Spd: B] Traits: Backstab, Anticipate

Polearm - Length weapons that employ establishing an advantage for the wielder. Overall well-rounded and capable of fitting to any playstyle.

Sword - Bladed weapons of simple enough design for anyone to employ. Flexible in use and able to be effective with any wielder.

Shield - Wielded protection. Standard issue to anyone who begins play with an Axe, Crossbow, Hammer, Pistol, or Sword.

Ranged Weapons

Bow - Always held in two hands, employs the skills of the user the most. Often holds more traits than other weapon types.

Crossbow - Fires smaller, heavier projectiles than a bow. A good alternative for anyone not willing to train in archery.

Pistol - Compact, hand-held firearms. Powerful and intimidating, but difficult to aim while in combat.

Rifle - Long-barrel firearms. Stronger and mildly easier to aim, but slow to recover.

Just fill out this character sheet and have the top line in your post name, and you'll be ready for play!

You are Abramov Yegor (Jora) Georgiy, a nineteen-year-old university graduate from Moscow, you were conscripted into the Red Army as a combat engineer due to your background as a student in engineering (and Marxist studies). Before being conscripted, you were a card-carrying member of your local branch of the CPSU and were an ardent patriot ready to die in the defense of the motherland. That was of course until you actually stepped on the battlefield.

The story so far:

You began your career as one of the few people who managed to escape encirclement alive from the besieged city of Tallinn in the Estonian SSR. You escaped by boarding a submarine alongside your comrade Valera who you met during the siege and patched you up after you got wounded.

Unfortunately the refugee fleet you were a part of unexpectedly ran into an uncleared and unmarked minefield while it was passing through the Gulf of Finland on its way to Leningrad, leading to the loss of the submarine and several other vessels alongside members of their crews who drowned in the icy cold water.

You managed to carry your female comrade out of the sub and get both of you a ride onboard an intact destroyer before passing out and later waking up inside a hospital room in Leningrad, somewhat confused but otherwise ready for active duty.

Last time you discovered a super spooky research facility that was oddly...empty and which shady things had gone down in the background of its former operations. You discovered it was the holidays upon your return. Which put you in a lot of trouble both due to lack of gifts and finding yourself nearly caught in the middle of a war between waifus. Which fortunately was at the very least delayed due to the She Devil Beatrice who is a sucker for romantic bullshit according to Mister Neutral. Besides that you got some interesting gifts and yet another lead on the old you before losing your memory.

Including old enemies who wouldn't have forgotten you as you did them and old flames which just might still burn you. You also discovered a bit about the bandits for whom your little sister who is holding some of your children hostage joined up with. But only after going in the middle of the woods after much paranoid laden countermeasures were laid out first. There after Mister Neutral left you trained in a bit.

Okay, I feel like hosting a storytelling RP that doubles as a fun Literary RP that make our takes on specific TV shows/Books/Movies/Video Games.

Before we start, I will like you to vote which game length and what narrative style will we play, along with a TV shows/Books/Movies/Video Games that you want to crash.

Game Length:
Short: 3 Act Structure
Medium: 6 Act Structure
Long: 12 Act Structure

Narration Style:
Linear Style: Only the GM will proceed to the story while the players will interact the responses

Non-Linear Style: The GM and the players will proceed to the story and also interact the responses as it progresses.

Roulette style: When the game had started, a player will be chosen as a GM randomly, once it was picked, the gm will have 10 story progression turns before another player will have theirs once the turn as a gm is over.

However, depending on the styles of Linear and Non-Linear on roulette, it will be effective by this choice.

After you have voted the length and style, suggest a TV show, Book, Movie or Video Game would you like get this treatment.

Something shakes me awake with a loud thump, and I grab onto the closest thing to me as I slip to the ground. The slow and steady sound of wooden wheels rolling over gravely dirt. Covering my eyes, I look up at the sky, feeling its warmth seeping into my skin and scales as I push myself up the from the wooden floor of the two person carriage I was napping in, my claws pulling up red paint.

"Hey you alright back there?" the Centaur pulling it asks, turning back with a thick red coat on as I start to wake up and try to figure out where I am "Sorry, hit a slight dip in the road, I think one of those big girls made it..ehah"

"Yeah, just tired" I say bluntly, leaning against the scratched up door

I shut the hell up when I see where I am, I don't know why but I think I feel a little fuzzy inside when I see the fields the centaur is slowly dragging me past, bunches of flowers dancing in the wind in a sea of green. Spires of rock rise up from it, with lizard girls and lesser dragons like wyverns sunbathing on them.

"...you sure?" The centaur asks, noticing my silence as I stare slack jawed at the view in front of me "I mean it was a pretty big bump and this old thing doesn't have seat belts...you didn't hit your head right"

"Huh?" I ask, turning away from a pond filled with playing frog girls and colorful harpies trying not to coat themselves in mud "I'm just trying enjoying the view, I might've hit my head but I'm pretty sure there'd be a hole in this damn thing if I did"

"Oh well I can stop if you need sometime" she says sweetly, as I groan and stretch, slowly feeling my body waking up from the sound of splashing and morning sun "I won't hold it against you, this place really is a sight to see, just absolutely beautiful, hey, if you want we can take a detour and I can show you some really pretty spots out here"

"Tch, I could go see a park if I wanted to frolic like a fairy" I grumble as the centaur chuckles "What you laughin at?"

"Oh nothing, its just that, you saying something like that isn't convincing" She says teasingly, smiling widely as she looks over her shoulder at me, and quickly turns around as I bare my teeth, as a headache hits me like a hammer
"uh...at all, with the look you had seeing it all"

"Yeah" I sigh angrily, rubbing my head as I see the dent in the wood on the lip between me and the speckled brown horse half of the girl "I know, I wear my feelings on my sleeve, just be quite about it"

"Oh, Embarrassed? or do you just want to keep up that tough girl act?" She sneers, whacking my head with her tail, making me actually bare my teeth and growl "Hey, its your fault your leaning so close to it"

"Well I can't sit morally! my tail keeps getting in my way" I sigh as I push myself up, and flop my heavy tail on my lap, unzipping my hoodie after it curls around me

Pamela was right...they really do look better after a thorough washing, they're shiner than they're usually are and feel a little lighter somehow

"Look can you just get me to the inn?" I ask impatiently, tapping the scales on my face with my claws "I mean I'm all for sitting here chatting with you, but I really have things I need to do"

"Oh" She says sadly, hanging her head as as she begins to head down the other side of the bridge "but...are you really sure you don't want to take a quick stop? I mean, no reason in rushing right? besides walking under the sun should wake you up a bit, and I know there's a wonderful cafe somewhere around here"

“-And what, now you’ve turned to stealing and banditry? You blind to hypocrisy or something?”

You’re standing on open grassy plains a short distance from a road that heads north.

Armed with the knowledge that your socks are far more holey than they should be, you’ve decided that getting shoes is actually kinda important. So after finishing up at the river you went east, and after a few hours of uneventful travel you find yourself here watching some people yell at each other.

“We told ye last time, Mertens. If yer not with us, ye’r against us!”

A large man stands in the middle of the road aiming a crossbow. He has a sword strapped to his belt and wears worn leather armor, and around him are five other men and women holding various weapons and looking angry.

Across from them, also on the road, is a big wagon pulled by two horses.

Or maybe it’s called a caravan? Because it has a big bent cloth roof thing? You don’t know.

Driving it is an older gray-haired man in cleaner-looking clothing, and standing with him are three people also holding weapons. He hops off the wagon’s front seat with a hand on the scabbard at his waist.

“Fah! How many of you have even swung a sword before? Come an’ try it!”

You’ve stopped ten metres or so away from the scene with Ashtia, the wolf looking almost bored at current events. Some of them have noticed you and are trying to get their respective leaders’ attention, but the two men are too busy shouting to be bothered.

You wonder what to do.

It is the 41st Century, space shuttles that can bend the reality of space and time are a possibility.

Daemons are a slave-like army made from a variety of different races captured by an unknown patron of a corporation. Daemons are usually the offspring of Prisoners of War. They're bred from day one to be obedient, loyal, and deadly through the use of a Neuron Chip.

Daemons, when traveling through time and space, are kept in Hydro-Hallucinstasis Pods. It simulates a real, normal life in the twenty-first century.

A system failure has caused the ship to stop mid-space, life support for the entire ship threatens to fail.

Daemon 1995 and 1242, a combat model and a medical model respectively, are now rushing fixing up an evacuation plan from The before they are killed by their adversaries

You are Adrian Brown, a twenty five year-old third-year medical student living an otherwise normal American life in search of employment. Mercifully, your entrance into the settlement is devoid of any sort of run-in with the jailers, who appear to be more humanoid than you initially thought. They do not sprint as much as they do shuffle towards the source of the commotion at a regular, but determined pace. A small force of masked humanoids, each wielding a branding iron and a pale blue lantern, slowly makes their way towards the north side.

The settlement itself is something straight out of a Christmas card. The domain takes cues from the commonly accepted image of what the North Pole would be: a quiet, 17th/18th century Germanic village completely covered in snow and Christmas décor. Gas lamps flicker to provide some semblance of illumination, reflecting off the snow-covered cobblestone in eerie shapes and colors.

Just like the forest outside the settlement, this too is a place locked in time, preserved for all eternity. It would make a nice Christmas card, you suppose, if it was not for the Corruption.

You feel it the instant you take a step on it, the oily and putrid stench of filth that you once smelled in Titania’s forest. Evil has taken hold of this place, turning this quiet town into one of horror and nightmares. Several of the buildings are little more than rubble, some still even smoldering wrecks. Blood stains the walls, the ground, and the air itself is filled with the metallic scent of iron.

Yet that isn’t even the worst of it…

Even behind her visor, you can see Victoria paling. “…are those…Santa’s…” She’s unable to finish her sentence before she loses her composure and the morning’s breakfast all over the wall.

From the alley where you take cover, you can still see the horrible sight. In the center of the town, embedded on pikes that stick out of the ground, the sightless eyes of seven reindeer stare out into the distance. Their deaths had not been gentle, evidenced from the way their spines are still attached to their heads.

“…oh, shit.” Fitz curses.

You whisper your agreement, even as a cold pit forms in your stomach. “Indeed…”

To his credit, Brady only gags once, quickly transitioning into report mode. “…I’m getting a faint reading,” he whispers, patting Victoria on the back as she continue to puke. “…it’s…it’s a COMP signal…but it’s buried too much interference.”

Fitz is on him in an instant. “It’s Adrain,” She mutters, “It has to be…Brady, where’s it coming from?”

He frowns, adjusting one of the dials with his one free hand. “It’s small, but it’s there…pointing us in…that direction.”

He points towards what looks like a warehouse, half-collapsed from both the heavy snowfall and a weak structure. At the sole entrance, what looks like three of the strange humanoids patrol the street. Two stand at the door, even while one makes circles around the street.

“…any other mooks in the vicinity?” She asks, all the while analyzing the guards.

“...no, the closest ones are all still moving in the direction of the Vatican agents. Why?”

It hits you harder than an eighteen wheeler barreling down a suburban road. Oh dear. “Fitz, wait-” You hiss, but it’s too late.

By the time the words exit your mouth and your hand reaches towards your friend, she’s already gone. She races towards the demons in a dead sprint, hand flying towards her COMP as she brandishes an elemental stone. Her demons materialize by her side as the guards take notice of her charge, cocking their heads curiously at the charging woman.

But they’re too slow. Even as they begin to raise their weapons, Fitz already crushes the stone in her hand, summoning a torrent of winds that slice at the guards. Even as they stagger under the force of the squall, whose flurries are sharp enough to cut through metal, she already barks out another command. Lham Dearg falls upon the patrolling humanoid as Apsaras buffs the three of them.

“…dammit, Fitz…” Victoria moans. She still looks green around the gills, but it seems that the worst of her spell has come to pass. “…we have to…to help her…”

Brady curses, hastily standing up and fumbling at his jacket. “Damn. Is he that good in bed to just blindly charge after him?”

It’s a joke, but you can’t help but give your friend a withering stare. He quails under your disappointed gaze before you retract it after a second's meditation. “Come on,” You sigh, “If your reading’s correct, then Adrian’s bound to be in the building. And hurry. The sooner we take them out, the less chance we have of being discovered…”

Case in point when another explosion from the north sends a deafening CRACK reverberating along the walls and stones of the North Pole…

“Keep your distance and engage the enemy at will,” You shout, sprinting to catch up with Fitz. The familiar weight of your knife fills your hands, but it’s more of a last resort more than anything else. Against these unknown enemies that have more than enough strength to casually stop you from rescuing Adrian back in the embassy, it’s definitely better to be safe rather than sorry.

With a flash of light, the demons best suited for this situation materialize into the air. Hua Po shivers by your shoulder, but whether or not she’s moving from the cold or the grisly sight is anyone’s guess. And Bastiel the Unicorn rears, stomping its hooves onto the snow-covered ground. You know the gaze in his green eyes, one filled with hate and loathing towards evil. It’s one that you recognize all too well…

“The enemy is before us,” You intone, reaching into your pocket. “Stand and fight against the corruption!”
