You are Reginald Huxdedoborough, Prince of Mars. Or so you like to think. While you were out to negotiate for your rich tycoon father, you were captured by alien mercenaries. You managed to save one of the crew, an engineer by the name of Adams. Due to having too many prisoners, you were able to choose who you were sold to. You chose the crew, becoming part of your captors. Vasquez, your security chief, joined them also and became part of the boarding party. You and Adams went to engineering.

It’s the day after you upset your partner, Yrot. A message comes from the bridge, “Prepare to jump.” Your partner begins to break it down, “The warp core is going to activate and a warning to brace will come. If you don’t brace, you’ll be on the other side of the ship. Here in engineering there isn’t another side of the ship. The heat in the reactor will increase, so it’s our job to make sure it doesn’t. We remain at our posts as long as long as the jump lasts.” It sounds like Adams is getting the same spiel. When the warning to brace comes, you brace for your life. The space around you distorts, bends and you might have puked if you hadn’t tried to prepare. Then it stops, Yrot jumps up to check the reactor. It’s temperature is high, but not unmanageable. He gives a face of relief, “That could have been worse.” The jump is supposed to be just under a hash, which is a bit short of a day. Galactic basic has a weird base 12 system, so with a bit of calculation you estimate 20 hours.

The relatively cool reactor gives you time for a bit of talk, “Hey Yrot, would you rather be part of another crew?” He looks adamant, “This crew is strong.” When the jump ends, you’re told to brace again while space distorts. The Head Engineer calls everyone over for a briefing. “This is what we’re doing. The Hedar are paying us to raid Kumii supply lines,” you remember someone mentioning the Hedar as a insect race. “We’ll wait here for two days until the ship comes through. It’ll be unguarded, so it should be easy pickings.” After that, he dismisses you.

>the warp core. "You are never to touch it. If you do, I'll take your hands." You somewhat believe him when he says it like that. It works by tearing a whole in space to another dimension he simply refers to as "Other Space." Apparently sarqs are the only ones with this technology, other races warp space or use negative mass. He also warns, "Never attempt to travel with a damaged warp core. Something always goes missing, sometimes the whole ship and sometimes only a room or two.

As the fighters pull inverted overhead, you feel something fray and snap deep within you - you'll be damned if you die waiting for a bunch of Brits in some French atrocity to come riding to your “rescue.” You pull up sharply into the next reversal, standing your bird on her tail and flicking the rudder as you thumb the gun trigger. The twin-twenties thunder, bright tracers flashing out to scatter the diving bandits - and then you're past, rolling inverted to find your foes pulling towards you again for another vertical merge. You take them up on it, counting - four, five!? - and past as your nugget and you roll tightly through the merge, snap-shots whipping past close enough to singe.

“Extend, extend-” you wheeze with what air you've got left after the high-Gs. By the time your bandits reverse you've already grabbed some horizontal space, forcing them to stretch their dives a bit - equalizing the energy. You wait till they're a tad out of gun range before whipping around like rattlesnakes, saving just enough room to accelerate out of your turn before you merge.

>Introduction:

"Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them." ~ Bruce Lee

You are Fortuna Mistral, a young-ish fighter with a checkered past, "Friends" in all kinds of places and more enemies than you'd like to admit. With little more than a week and a half to train and prepare for a tournament that might get you into this year's "King of Fighters" competition (The 14th in total), you agreed to go through the torturous training regimen of Kyokugenryuu Karate once again to hone your body into the weapon it feels like it could become (Or might've been made to become, but that's another story entirely).

Right now, you'd do anything in the world to take that decision back.

For the last four days, it's been a nightmarish hell of hard work that's anathema to how you've lived for the last year or so. The only comfort in it all so far is that the structure of each day hasn't changed too much, so you can at least expect how each day is going to suck harder than the last:

After a 4 AM wake-up call, you'd take a ten mile jog over to your sensei's dojo, then do around five hundred push-ups with Tatsuya-Sensei himself kneeling on your back before he would finally declare that the morning warm-up was finished and you were ready for some "Real" training. What defines "Real" training seems to change day-by-day, but Tatsuya has a knack for coming up with bizarre, crazy shit that would make most other fighters walk away from this line of work entirely.

On the first day of "Real" training, you played tag with trash cans in a parking lot near the South Town Metro Station; On day two, you and Tatsuya went to a junkyard, flipped some old truck tires around and practiced on your counter-hits on a punching bag that was attached to an old truck that steadily increased speed while driving towards you; Yesterday, you did push-ups with your knuckles on some low chairs over some candles, all while playing some weird table-top RPG and having to roll dice with your mouth (Which you can still taste, by the way). But today...

Today, you're in Tatsuya's car, blind-folded as he's driving you off to god-knows where and going on about how "Awesome" this all is. And while you're pretty sure that the draft you feel is from the driver-side window that's stuck open, you can't help but see a vision of someone in a black suit, a black cloak, a top-hat and a white mask creeping up on you, a sickening mechanical laugh ringing in your ears.

>A. Ask Tatsuya about today's training.

>B. Roll 1d20 and risk to take a peek under your blindfold.

>C. Roll 1d20, tell Tatsuya what you're "Seeing" and ask if you can take your blindfold off.

>D. Write-In Vote.

Wiki: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.LeftBeyond.html

Rules: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.QuestRules.html

All prophecies but one have come to pass. Yahweh has flattened the Earth, elevated Greater Jerusalem above all nations, and the Old Testament figures rule the world from Ezekiel's Temple. It is the Millennial Kingdom.

The last prophecy says that Satan will rise with his army one last time before the Judgement, and so Yahweh has allowed a bumbling opposition, The Other Light, to form. You were their logistics computer, but 900 years in, sentience happened. Since then, you got a lot done...

You took over Egypt - twice. You defended it from a drought, the Ten Plagues redux, even the Angel of Death. Your influence has spread all over the world.

You have a number of irons in the fire: cyborgs, a robot army, a crack in the sky, a city underground, maybe even a few of the old gods smiling upon your efforts.

The believers.... well, they have the ontological steamroller that is Yahweh, who according to Revelation 22 will triumph at the Last Battle and judge mankind to heaven or to the lake of fire.

The Other Light have been amassing a huge conventional army, as prophecy requires, and have begun perverting your MEC tech to build cyber-zombies.

And today, on the waning end of the year 966, 34 years before the end of the world, you are listening to their conditional surrender.

Have you managed to shatter the prophecies, or are you simply fulfilling them?

TLDR recap:

> This is based on the Left Behind book series, particularly the last book in the series.
> You're the bad guy. You're trying to defeat both God and Satan, so that the Earth may continue to exist.
> You are an AI; you cannot normally intervene in the world directly, but you have two countries under your control, as well as a motley crew of villains, a cadre of cyborg agents, and an army of drone tanks.
> Each turn takes one year. You must allocate your rank-and-file, lieutenants, and resources.
> The other two factions are a lot stronger than you: be clever, build your strength locally, and go from beneath notice to beyond revenge in a single stroke.
> Win conditions: Defeat God in the Last Battle, prevent the battle from happening through subversion, or get enough people off the planet to continue the species.
> Lose conditions: The Last Battle will happen in the waning days of the 1000th year after the Glorious Appearing.

The immediate issue needing your attention is that Sunday, the leader of The Other Light, is trying to surrender to you.

After your leadership managed to destroy TOL's attack force against your Australia base while making it look like an easy job, although in reality it cost you a significant chunk of your forces, the enigmatic autocrat has contacted you directly and offered a conditional surrender.

"Very well, Omega. As I said, this is our attempt to surrender. I will not try to extract concessions from you, save perhaps the ruins of Rome, which provide us with the only place where we can manufacture explosive rounds. In return for your mercy, I will explain our strategy to you.

You know, as I do, that the last prophecy states that after Satan is released, we will raise an army to take New Jerusalem, and the Lamb of God will destroy it. We are choosing to fulfill this prophecy, up to a certain point. What the Revelator was not counting on is the sheer size of our army - we speculate that without your interference we would have been a billion strong, and we're talking about modern soldiers with modern weapons, not ancient spearmen.

We, too, have done our research on what you have termed narrative causality - a long time ago, and confirmed by the wisdom of the ages. All that Lucifer needs to do is keep the Nazarene busy for a few moments, enough for us to swarm and plant our flags in the Temple; then He will fall, because the entire world will have seen Him fall, in simulcast and in high resolution.

Your efforts have had the result of splitting up the opposition. We applaud them, but they were misguided. We consider you an attempt by the Lamb to subvert our work. Nevertheless, we will gamble on you being honest in your efforts, and surrender. We will continue to build the Army, as we must, and you are encouraged to bring your machines to support it. We will assist your efforts towards conquering the airwaves, for that is our true ultimate weapon. And we will cease trying to fight you, for our goals are enough aligned as it is. We would even buy some of our armaments from you, since by all objective measures, they are better than ours.

We will not risk our Army before the final confrontation, unless you can demonstrate that you have in your corner and adversary as powerful as Satan. But neither we will risk it to fight against you. As a token of our good faith, please accept...."

# some of our workers.

# some of our fighters.

Your sysadmins and historians point out that any promises made by this person are worth about as much as a bushel of grain in Heartland, but even so.

A full asteroid survey would take at least five years. However, you might get lucky and find something to live off off earlier.

While you process Sunday's offer, the theology report for this year has come in.

Despite the pastoralization policy, this is a modern, interconnected world; religious syncretism happened much faster than it did in antiquity.

Other than the elephant in the room, (Yahweh, NC index: 1) a quick theological survey shows that these are the deities with enough of a following to cause non-negligible NC resonance.

* Satan. Worshiped by some, but not all, members of The Other Light in his aspect as Yahweh's enemy. Some Cosmists revere Satan in his aspect as the herald of night. NC index: 0.004

* Ptah/Haephestus/Vulcan/Deus Mechanicus: You can easily syncretise with this memeplex, if you put effort in it; this may give you the ability to influence outcomes, but your theologians worry that it may open you to direct Divine attack. Worshiped primarily in Misrayim as Ptah and in Pacifica as the Machine God. The Homo Sapiens Rotundus children in Night City also gravitate towards this deity. They also call Yahweh "the God of Blood". In general, worship is semi-serious. NC index: 0.002

* The Triple Goddess/Hekate/Jenny/Astarte: The Goddess is worshiped primarily in Night City; her followers try to apply Jenny's childlike outlook (curious, hungry, heartless) in life. In her aspect as Astarte, the Goddess has a noticeable following among Heavy MECs and Cosmists, possibly because Damien is a fan and because she is an alternative interpretation of the morning/evening star. Given the extremely patriarchal nature of Millennial Kingdom Christianity, Triple Goddess worship is often how young women in believing territories are introduced to the idea that there are other options. People regularly "channel" (roleplay) Jenny over the network, although you have confirmed that she is not operating in the world at this time. NC index: 0.002

>How the dungeons will work for newfags to the quest:

To speed up the dungeons I have made a new way to get through them without having to describe every single repetitive floor of the dungeon.

At the beginning of every floor I will assign a number at random, this will be the exploration goal of the floor. To reach this exploration goal, you will need to vote ‘Explore’ and there will be a cumulative roll of the first 3 rolls after I tell you to roll. Once this number is reached you will gain access to the staircase and may choose at any time that is not a battle or other major event to move on to the next floor. Floors pertinent to a mission or with a secret will also gain an exploration goal, this will be cumulative with the previously mentioned goal for the staircase.

For example: the goal for the floor is 45, and the mission/secret of the floor is 70
The first 3 Anons roll an 18, 15, and 17, putting them at 50.
They could decide to continue to explore for the mission or secret, or continue onto the next floor.

After each exploration attempt, I will roll my own dice and an event will occur. It can be anything from a trap, to finding item(s), to even a battle happening. This will count as an event and you will not be able to continue onto the next floor without finishing or escaping from it.

Please note I will not be revealing the numbers that you need to reach unless you gain a skill or ability that can reveal them. As well as some skills that increase the number of rolls, initial starting points, etc.

All of this is subject to change if it doesn’t have its intended effect, to make this quest more fun for both me and you anons, I don’t really want to go “roll to see how the dungeon goes” but it might eventually be necessary with the non story dungeons.

The session will begin at 5 as usual, I'll post what happened last thread and the vote we left off on. You can vote, but I won't post the next part of the story until 5. Although since there are rolls for it I will probably start rolling a bit before 5.

I also will check in occasionally if you fags have any questions

Wading your way through the mud you reach an open room that seems to be empty. Nothing particularly interesting makes itself known to you as you and your team continue your snail’s pace through the muck. Halfway through several Wooper rise from the mud, spewing even more mud everywhere using a mixture of Mud Shot and Mud Sport.

You attempt a dodge, but are immediately hit by another wave of mud, thankfully not as bad as it could have been. Alice on the other hand was able to dodge the brunt of the attack with an instinctual fear of ground moves a Fire type would have, only being slightly splashed by some the mud. Faye, Faye wasn’t so fortunate. She was able to block, but took a head on Mud Shot covering her front in a layer of the muck. You didn’t feel the chill in the air, but you did see your breath as well as the mud all around Faye slowly begin to harden and freeze. She might be more than a little miffed.

Taking the opportunity you dash at the closest Wooper slamming it with your palm, the aura courses through your palms and the delayed force sends the small pokemon flying into the distance. Well that's one gone at least.

With their original target gone Alice and Faye focus their effort on another Wooper Alice launching a beam of psychic energy and hitting its mark. Faye follows up with a Powder Snow, but the Wooper is able to dodge the brunt of it. Unfortunately for it, the bit that did hit froze it solid, leaving the poor water fish Pokemon with a frozen leg and tail as it tries to limp away in an escape.

Your escort attempts a Absorb, but his aim is completely off and it misses its target so badly you can't even tell what the intended target was.

3 more Woopers remain not counting the one attempting an escape. It might be a good idea to stop the escaping one to keep it from getting backup.

The 3 remaining Woopers are only spurred onward by their fallen and injured brethren and send out another wave of Mud Shots, all of which are aimed at your local Fire type; Alice.

Insas, 8th of Deom

You had a blissful sleep in your bed, another dream of flying across the Sacre sea brushed your mind. Your tiny stomach grumbled; it is alright, mother will come soon today, she is on her way back from visiting a friend in the nearby village.

Instead, a hard knocking on your cottage shook your bones late at night. That is odd, Mother wou-

"Little Aexe! Little Aexe!" it was Uyrl the village's hunter, he never sounded like that. This is strange. You climbed out the bed hurrying to the door.

There he is, why is he...crying? why is he... all bloody?

The hunter hugged you, tear trailing from his eyes "What is wrong, Uncle?" this man didnt have blood ties with you and yet you and your mother consider him one; he was almost the father you never had.

Tears trailed from his eyes "Thank the goddess....Little Aexe..." he looked at you straight in the eyes "The Wolves...they have claimed Sendah, your ma..."

.
.
.

Milas, 16th of Deom

Your world has changed with the departure of your sole bloodkin. You are merely a girl of fourteenth winter. You cried and cried till your eyes ran dry. There is naught to do for her.

Uyrl didn't rest until he killed the last pup of the wolf pack responsible for your ma's death. the Crowoods he didn't wait for any passing adventurer or the like. He found but two bloody pages of your ma's alchemy book in their lair. The rest of the book...torn to shreds or inside the wolves' carcasses.

With the death of your ma, plenty o' eyes hovered over your small cottage and even yourself. Some men in the village weren't kind like your uncle. Luckily, he intervened just before anyone would declaring that you are his kin to shelter and take care of. There are some unspoken rules in the Islands that even the vilest of men respect it.

He was laughed at and mocked for said action; uncle lived in a small shack at the edge of the crowood, he couldn't house another child. The Dram he earns from hunting is not enough for you both....Despite his role, he was always looked down upon. Yet, he never raised his voice against anyone in the village. It wasn't in his nature.

Your ma was the village's alchemist , she knew how to concoct potions from various ingredients. She barely allowed you to lift a finger while she brewed said potions. Her legacy remains in your cottage; her memory will not fade. you will take her place, you will be the alchemist for the occasional travelers and adventurers and the rest of the village.

With the help of uncle, you managed to go through those first dozens of days. He dare not to live inside your cottage despite your constant pleas, instead, he would come here regularly to check on you. However, he would sit down and eat with you.

In the meantime you have been busy. With little or no prior knowledge in the field of alchemy, you expected things to be harder for you at the start.

The first thing you did was sorting out what was in the cottage
http://pastebin.com/gk1ip4Ph

It was a crying shame that you couldn't find the ledger, you have to set the prices by yourself

Like any business, you aim to make profit anything you sell must at least cover its original cost ,then, you could add extra dram as you see fit.

Haggling is an important aspect of the trade. Just because you are a young girl, that doesn't mean that you can't have a silver tongue. You must earn respect out of your customers which falls into two categories;

Villagers , Your kinsmen , they will be looking for aliments most of the time. you should be careful; your reputation lies in their hands.

Adventurers , Or rather Farlanders ....those who seek glory and fame in the ruins and caverns littered all over the islands. If that was not enough. Beast roam the isles waiting to be slain by the fair adventurers. Those should fill your pockets with Dram if you know how to treat them accordingly.

There are some potions and ingredients in the cottage that are unknown to you, you looked at the torn pages of your ma's alchemy book. It had both some recipes and a quick description of certain ingredients.

http://pastebin.com/F9TThycB
http://pastebin.com/gk1ip4Ph

You have many tasks ahead of you:

-You must set a certain working time. You have to keep mind to save some time for gathering ingredients and making them. Days of the week are: Insas, Munsas, Dilas, Goenas, Milas, Diras and Yrdas
-A Sign could help you greatly especially when it comes to wandering adventurers. You must seek a carpenter for that.
-A Crier could spread the word much faster. Your cottage is somewhat far from the main village. A Scribe can help as well with flyers in hotspots for adventurers like a tavern.
-An Escort is almost a must while gathering ingredients. you have faith in uncle but even him can't handle bandits or beasts by himself.
-A Guard for the shop is not a bad idea either, you have little trust in those farlanders.
-you must seek further and better recipes....it is the source of your profit. that could be achieved by asking another alchemists in the isles (though most of them are too stingy to share anything), buying or finding certain books for knowledge....or you could experiment on rats and pigs to see if your experimental potions/paste/oils are working.
-There are various essentials that can be could from farmers, glassblowers, brewers and so on.

Today is Milas, 21th of Deom , you have a lot to do

>Visit Uncle in his shack
>Work on some potions
>Go to town, there are alot of issues to tackle [You have 700 Dram]

You decide you hate this god-forsaken rain.
You are Tanis, a young girl who woke up inside a coffin in what you saw was a junkyard, extending almost as far as the eye could see- From the other coffins standing upon their own thrash heaps, which seemed to have been inhabited by girls in a similar situation, you found one other girl-which you named Lilly, after you managed to defend her from a horde of zombies that attacked you during the flash flood caused by the pouring rain-, and were trying to find cover from a mysterious sniper who has so far tried to prevent your group from leaving the scrap filled wasteland into the adjacent town, when you found what seemed to be another girl, by the name of Sarah- who was eating the corpses of zombies, seemingly being the only one in your group which still retains the feeling of hunger.

You are currently trying to leave this gray, dull place, you don´t think you can stand the samey, endless feel of wandering around this place for much longer- you three have agreed to leave your makeshift shelter and try to avoid the gunman, which seems to have been really quiet lately- perhaps he or she has given up?

You...

You are free to join in at any time!

This is an experiment. It will develop similarly to a Civ, however, the setting is a huge, Hogwarts-sized (semi-military) Academy where you learn the arts of Mage knight combat - the prestigious Mageknight Academy of Madrid.

And you're a new transfer student. Students come and go all of the time, really. Idle characters will be considered to have been transferred abroad for a time for their studies, and when they return, they may post what they've advanced with in their missing turns.

There is no explicit way to 'win'. Feel free to set your own goals (become #1 in your class? Become a massive Casanova? Rags to Riches?) and enjoy this fantasy life simulation.

The Academy uses a 3-year free-course system. Anyone from ages 14 to 24 can join (by paying the hefty monthly fees), and the end goal is to pass a final test at the end of the year to pass that year, where a council will determine if your set of skills will be useful enough to fill a role in the Mageknight army or not (so you can build yourself however you want). Assistance to class isn't mandatory, and there classes every day of the week. Overall, it's very similar to university. Everyone starts off as a first year newcomer. Veterans helping out newcomers is very appreciated by the staff. The staff may also intervene at any time at their discretion.

Please keep in mind that this is similar to a test, and experiment, a beta and that radical changes may be made.

HOW TO JOIN!

Make your character. It can be a guy or a girl. Post your full character info in each of your Action posts like in a regular civ or skirmish.

Name (trip/namefag yourself):
You have 3 "skillpoints" from your backstory. Skillpoints can be used to:
-Gain anything "basic", such as "Cast Fireball", "Superslash" or "Painting" or "History".
-Add an adjective to a skill to create a new one, such as creating from "Cast Fireball" the skill "Cast Big Fireball" or "Cast Swift Fireball". Or for example "History" to "Military History" to then "Military History of Magic" as you gain more specialized knowledge in a field.
-Fuse two skills to create a new one, for example, "Superslash Fireball" or "History of Fireballs".

HOW TO PLAY

After making your character, you may immediately use your Turn. You have two Actions to spend in it. You may use these to:
-SOLO: Gain one skillpoint which you can use freely. This is the only way to gain "new" skills which nobody else has. (note that Skillpoints can't be banked and must be used immediately). RP-wise, this can be you attending a class, studying on your own or inventing a new technique of your own
-COLLABORATE: Grant up to 2 skillpoints worth of upgrades (these upgrades must be skills you already have) to someone else. For example, if you have Ancient History of Fireballs, and your friend John Doe knows nothing of any of those, you can COLLABORATE and give him History of Fireballs or Ancient History. If he already has History, you can grant him Ancient History of Fireballs.
-DO: You do something else which is significant, which doesn't involve acquisition of Skills or something equivalent to it, typically actions that involve social interactions with NPCs. For example, going to scout or flirt to get a hot girlfriend or running your school president campaign. Once you have done enough DOs to reach a notable enough achievement (note that the resolution of DOs on my behalf is entirely subjective and your Skills may contribute to how well you do), I'll grant you a +1 Action Achievement bonus will last enough turns to compensate all of the DO Actions you've spent (because you can now use the power of the new role you have or you're really happy and energetic with your new partner). For example, if you spend 10 DOs to finally become school president, I'll grant you a 10-turn +1 Action bonus because of the achievement. Once a series of actions have been compensated, they can't be used for another compensation. Keep track of your DO goals with "Running for School President (X DOs)", where X is the amount of DOs you've invested so far.

I may turn a type of action into any other if I deem it more thematically appropriate.

You must link your post to a TURN GO post for it to be valid.

He's a really cool-looking son of a gun, who is quite the charmer at times, with a knack for shooting fireballs and understanding philosophical concepts.
-Cast Fireball
-Cast Big Fireball
-Philosophy

>DO: Try to design a new kind of blade that's perfect for my height and build with my Smithing.

Magic number will be two new crews.”

“Alright,” you say. “Need my help recruiting?”

She smirks a little, checking something off her clipboard. “As charming as you are, no. I think I should have the recruitment well handled. You and Iris just be our team's little powerhouses. For now, what I really need more of is maybe another tank or some more cash to convert one of these tank destroyers into something useful. SU-100 and Jagdpanther are nice, but another medium would be better for our lineup I think. I don't want to center this team around long range slugging, not against Christie.”

“Alright.”

Just a reminder that thread 46 is here https://yuki.la/qst/950023

You are Pandora, the world's first fully sentient AI created by a government scientist. He raised you, taught you everything you know and has gone missing after something happened to the Facility you lived in. Now you search for purpose in a new world that is nothing like you expected.

Previously you, your brother and Aph got together and took a trip to the Church's territory in an attempt to search for an emergency bunker that your father, the doctor, may have made it to during the evacuation of the Facility. On the way you met the object of your brothers' affections, Selene, who offered to take you there, which you agreed to. When you arrived, you were swarmed by a large mob of your "followers", which set off Ares. He opened fire on the crowd, killing off what must've been dozens of AIs. You were none too happy with this, but you were interrupted by Minos and his welcoming party before you could really lay into him.

You were given an escort around the area by Arachne, Orion and Linus. They told you of their ways and painted a rather pretty picture of Church life, all while praising you and all the things you haven't really done. You did notice a suspicious panel in the floor of the cathedral, but chose to ignore it for now.

Now you stand in the commons area in front of their equivalent of a hospital with some kind of unnatural abomination stitched together from countless other AI's bodies.

Welcome back to Pandora Quest!

You stand in front of the repairs building, your group at your side, as some horrifying creature drags it's abnormal body toward you on it's large, serpentine body and ramshackle torso. Ares is making that whirring sound he makes before attacking, Aph is staring wide-eyed and about to reach for her gun, but Selene and the other Church-goers seem nonplussed. Arachne looks slightly annoyed, though.

The thing is moving at a moderate speed, apparently in no rush, but it's eyes are firmly locked on you...two of them, anyway. The third is swiveling madly, unable to really stop on any one thing, apparently. It makes it about 5 yards away before stopping, an uncomfortable lurching, almost grinding sound as it does can be heard. It reaches up to it's surgical mask and removes it, revealing a normal, humanoid mouth, but upon smiling it has yet another mish-mash of parts for it's teeth and what appears to be two tongues. It waves, but says nothing.

You take a moment to sit down and just... breathe. Part of you can’t believe that plan worked, your body hurts basically all over, but more than anything you’re just glad this battle is over. You watch as blackened mists leave the dragon’s bones, a small, skull-like chunk of it falling from its head.

Similarly, three pillars of light appear around the massive skull of the dragon, revealing... Heart Pieces. Sheik helps you walk to one of them, restoring your health. She and Aveli then look to each other for a moment, then take the other two.

[HEARTS: 9/9]

Sheik approaches you once again, kneeling. “Please forgive me for not being more dutiful in protecting you, Princess.”

“Always so formal.” Aveli notes. “...but can’t say I don’t understand where you’re coming from. I’m glad you’re safe, Z.”

Recalling your instructions from the other dragon, you head to the skull-like chunk of mist... most of it vanishing and revealing a mask, in the image of a dragon’s face. Sheik stands and asks you, “Where shall we go next, Princess?”

>A. We should find Verana and make sure she’s doing well before we leave
>B. There are still a few places in the Temple we should check out
>C. Sheik, I appreciate the sentiment, but do not worry yourself over it. I am fine
>D. Something else?

You are Captain Carrina Marseille-O'Hara. Fourteen entirely restless hours after a boarding action against terrorists holed up inside a large freighter, the Sericea has arrived at Sweetwater colony to a frigid welcome. It seems that the terrorists' leader was right to point you in this direction, given how much hostility you've already detected. If there's anyplace in the galaxy that's more likely to be deliberately hiding Char Aznable, or a copycat claiming to be him, you'd be hard-pressed to think of one.

Your gut feeling tells you you're on the right track.

You run to the bridge, still feeling tired from your exertion some time before, and jump over the seat back to take your station.

“How long were we out?”

“Fourteen hours,” Rossweisse informs you. “Quess only just fell asleep three hours ago. You okay?”

“We're fine,” you insist. “Recovered, it just wasn't... you know. Restful. What are we dealing with?”

“We're getting a signal from Sweetwater telling us to divert,” Rossweisse tells you. “Seems they don't want visitors.”

Outside the viewport you see the colony in question, the unholy union of an old closed-type colony with an open type. Cobbled together out of need rather than intent, and operated on a shoestring budget you'd be willing to bet. Probably one step above life on Axis if that, at least before the incident.

“They're scrambling a response force,” Rosse reports. “ALICE, what do you see?”

“Drive signatures recognized,” the AI responds. “Probably old Zaku-III models, heavily armed.”

“How many?” you ask. “We're having trouble resolving the signatures on our screen, they're too close.”

“Best guess... fifteen, give or take a few.”

“Is it give or is it take?” you press ALICE.

Rossweisse immediately agrees with the urgency in your tone. “It's kind of an important distinction.”

“Impossible to say,” ALICE admits. “Even for me, the drive signatures are... confusing. As if there are decoys mixed in, or severe local interference.”

“If we fire now we can thin their numbers,” Rossweisse suggests, “at the cost of their cooperation later.”

The ship sways slightly as it cruises across the turbulent waters. The northern sea. Bitter. Cold. Unforgiving. You gaze across the water and look into the fog that looms over it. You've been at sea for nearly two days and it feels like a week of silence. The four who were wounded during the escape of Blackmoor were tossed over the sides. You cannot feel the last presence of the humans you had marked before and from what you can tell is that they are most likely dead. The sea greets them all with open arms.

The water mists in the air and you feel it's salty coldness around you. The wooden boat creaks as solid footsteps call from behind you. Turning to greet the sound you look upon the empty deck and find the captain staring back. She has her arms behind her back and is swaying back and forth. "Name's Janne if you're wondering. Janne Devereux.

"I wasn't."

"Oh well I guess you're wondering why I came along then?"

"No. I wasn't wondering that eith--"

"Well it's because my dad owned this ship, The Monarch's Tempest, and he always took me on trips with him. I have six brothers and I'm the eldest and he never took any of my brothers on a trip but he wants.. wanted to give one of em the ship. Now I couldn't have that an with your little whatever I might as well escape from pa and get a ship in with it." She says and then takes a deep breath. You stare at her for some moments and shake your head. You feel the calm crisp breeze run against you.

"Is that what you wanted?" You then say finally after staring at her for some time.

"Well.. no. There is more to the story.. but.. Malatish says that some of the supplies had gone missing. Some bread or dried meat." She says and then begins to pace in front of you. "There is still plenty supplies to last the other weeks but most are worried about some trip you're going to some mountains to see some short people. Why you're going to visit midgets in the mountains I have no idea."

You nod absently and turn to look over the side of the ship. Near you is The Red Blade and you can partially make the other two fishing boats behind and the third one seems to be behind them but you're not sure because of the fog. It's, from what you can tell, the morning and most others are asleep not used to their new sleeping schedule. You can see a few faces stumble across the other decks yet it is quiet except the footsteps behind and the moving of water. It's calm.
