A light patter of rain drips off your coat as you round the last corner, a single street lantern providing a faint and sickly light. You come to rest before a dark alleyway, flanked by a seedy bar on one side, and an abandoned whorehouse on the other.
You fish the tattered, yellowish note out of your pocket and check the address again. Fisherman's Catch Warehouse, 42 Burlington Street. Your eyes fall on the numbers of the buildings adjacent to the alleyway. 40 and 44. Looks like you've arrived. You take a deep breath, flick your cigarette to the curb and step into the alley. Immediately, what little light the lantern provides is lost and you're in near-perfect dark. It's suddenly a lot colder as well. In the distance, you see a single, flickering light, even frailer than the street lantern you just left behind. It seems like the alley is longer than it logically should be.

New players are always welcome!

In this quest you assume the role of an aspiring student who is about to enter the Mageknight Academy. You must hone your skills, make some friends (and perhaps also some enemies) and fight battles in order to prove yourself worthy of graduating as a fully fledged Mageknight! Each year (every 100th turn) your character will be tested by the academy to see if your character is progressing well and meeting the Academy's high standards. After the 3rd year your character will head off into a their first mission for a final test.

How to Join:
New players must fill out their character sheets. The sheet must include the following information:
>Anyone can join at any time. Latecomers and laggers are given bonus action points to catch up with the other players.
1) Your character's full name
2) Your character's backstory, appearance and any other useful information.
3) You are given 3 Skill Points. Choose 1 starting spell and 2 other skills or spells.

How to Play:
1) Each turn you will be given 2 [Action Points]. Post your character sheet and your chosen actions along with a 2d100 roll.
>Normally your roll must pass the [Difficulty Challenge] of 25 in order to succeed.
>Getting a 10 and below is a [Critical Failure] while 91 and above is a [Critical Success]
2) All players must wait for the "TURN GO" post before submitting any actions posts. After which you must post your actions only to that post.
3) After all actions are processed and a new turn begins, update your character sheet.

Acquiring and Improving Spells & Skills:
1) Study, research, explore, train or take classes to discover and learn new spells.
2) Training an already learned spell or skill will raise it further to the next tier once enough [Progress Points] are accumulated.
4) The progress threshold is based on the Fibonacci sequence (1,2,3,5,8,...)
>Usually Spell and Skill tiers are named as Basic => Intermediate => Advanced => Expert => Master
>Alternatively you can label the tiers as T1, T2, T3 and so on.

Spellcrafting:
Spellcrafting involves fusing spells with various skills, knowledge and even other spells that your character has learned together creating a new spell or skill.
>The name of the resulting new spell will be determined by the QM. By default it will be "Cast A B C..."
>Your dice roll will affect the result of the spellcrafting. Lower rolls will result in weaker or negative version of the intended spell and vice versa.

Social Interactions:
1) Role playing with other players is a free action. Role playing with NPCs, however, will cost an action point to do so.
2) Collaborative Player-to-Player actions like trading, tutoring and PvP, will cost an action point to do so.

Combat:
1) Post 2 actions like you normally would. Your opponent will roll their own 2 actions.
2) To defeat your opponent, you must overcome their defensive or evasion roll and vice versa
>If you have not rolled an evasion or defensive roll then your opponent must pass normal DC to hit you and vice versa.
>If both combatants attacked successfully then it's a Double KO.
>If both combatants defended successfully then it's a Stalemate.

Your skillset is a bit small, so it might be time to expand your spell repertoire. With your knowledge of Mana Projection and your Inner Darkness at your beck and call for now, you work with those two abilities to try designing a new spell for yourself. It takes some trial and error, but you think you have something. By infusing your mana with your Inner Darkness, you can ‘push’ the dark mana outward in front of you like a wave, forcing back enemies. It’s not the most damaging spell, but with some thinking you can probably find some good uses for it.

Helia is clearly distraught over the situation. She wants you to stay with her, but on the other hand they are her parents. Maybe if you can prove yourself to her family, most importantly her father, perhaps you can earn their approval and then Helia won’t have to worry about this. You try to get her to open up about her family, but she tells you she isn’t in the mood to talk about them. Further attempts at prying only evoke a stronger response from her. This clearly isn’t going to work right now. Deciding that pushing her any further right now would only damage your relationship, you back off. Maybe with some time to cool down, she’ll be more open to talking.

Searching out Cornelius you find him in his office. “Hey Gram what do you need?” Since he said he’ll help you with something you want, you ask him to help you with Katherine. You want to know what to give her for Valentine's day. “Katherine? Ok then, she likes simple things really. Don't give something expensive or flashy. Oh, and she likes old things as well, like stuff from before the 1800’s, or antiques that have a lot of history. If you're going to go out and eat, I suggest some place that has quality food, maybe the noble restaurant in town called La Patron.”

Welcome to the wonderful world of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Though you don't know it yet, you posses a wondrous power known as a Stand, which represents your willpower and fighting spirit! Alas, this will lead you into many hardships, but with good use of your Stand, you should be able to pull through. However, Stands are shaped by the individual, so what form your Stand takes is dependent on what kind of person you are.

With that in mind, please take a moment to consider your true nature.

"Excuse you!" The audacity of her to even suggest something like that, it nearly leaves you speechless. "I will have you know that is very unprofessional behavior in the workplace, and I am a very professional person."

"Soooo....you don't like Lawrence?"

"No! I mean, I like him I just don't um... like like him-"

"Why are you blushing then?" Marilyn grins, forcing you to turn away and hide your shame.

"Even if I did like him, you couldn't tell him anyways cause we're still on the job and that's against the rules."

"Oh. Then I'll just tell him after the party."

You absolutely refuse to let Marilyn see your embarrassment, even if you can just feel the fact that she's relishing in it. This unfortunate timing has left your backs exposed, and as such easily get caught by the threat that looms around.

The hand that grabs your shoulder glimmers with dark nail polish, a foreboding warning as you dare a peek up. Stern eyes outlined with equally dark eyeshadow looks down at you, her gaze alone enough to keep you both in place.

"So, you two are the ones roaming my halls. Neither of you are old enough to attend here," she pauses for a moment before ushering both of you down the hall, "To my office, let's go."

"W-W-W-..." Marilyn chokes up all wide eyed, doing only slightly worse than you.

"A-Are you g-going to call the police...?" you choke out, noticing a fire alarm right outside of the office you're lead in to.

"No, I'm going to call your parents to come down and pick you up, " she explains, seating you down in the chairs right before her desk. "Unless you've been doing something illegal I should know about."

"Um, nope. Nope not at all." You attempt to hide the banner out of view, Marilyn refusing to look up at all. The woman, who you assume is the principal, looks over one of her notes before walking to the door.

"Seems there was reports of a third person, an adult. Let me go ask my hall monitors about this, you two stay here." She walks out of the room, heel clicking fading as she walks down the hall.

"I don't want to get in trouble..." Marilyn whispers, and quite frankly you're going to have to agree. How can you throw the best party ever if you're grounded? This is obviously divine intervention giving you a chance to continue this goal- you shouldn't waste it!

>Just run out, she can't catch you in those heels!
>Pull the fire alarm, chaos will help you escape

Hey guys! Here to try my hand at running another quest! Xenon quest was going well until my phone (and all my notes on it) was stolen :( but im here and willing to try again if you guys will have me! And here we gooo!

Tainted Earth- set centuries after a cataclysmic world war using "Gene bombs". These weapons rapidly mutated the DNA of the humans and animals inside their range, the effect being most intense nearest the epicenter of the release, the bioweapon rapidly decaying into harmlessness. The hellish weapons left the cities and resources unharmed yet wrought horrible damage on the population

Those at the center suffered extreme mutations, rendering them into horrific, monstrous beasts, amalgams of multiple species and sometimes multiple humans, these cursed souls are the Behemoths. They hold a fierce hostility towards all life and will use their extreme strength and size to destroy any intruders. They inhabit the ancient cities and deep lonely places in the new world.

Those on the mid range of the detonation were afflicted with severe mutations but not to the extent of the the Behemoths. They are afflicted with (but not limited to) bestial features, increased size and strength, limited intelligence and a deep mistrust of "Pure" humans. They live a mostly nomadic life, great "herds" and "packs" roaming the land, following their herds. Several small cities exist however and they guard their citadels fiercely. These are the Marauders.

Those on the far range of the blasts are the luckiest of the affected. They are the "Tainted". They are by far the most numerous of the affected and in some ways the most fortunate. Many are able to pass for pure humans with their slight mutations covered and concealed. They are usually afflicted with slight physical mutations (clawed fingers, slotted pupils, fangs, scales, etc) along with slightly increased strength and speed. they inhabit many of the new villages and small towns and form some of the population of the new cities.

Pure humans still exist however. Many wander the wastes in nomadic convoys, selling scavenged wares and gathered foodstuffs. They also form the majority of the city population and many of them hold a deep hatred of the Tainted and Marauders. This hate has given rise to the "Purity Movement", a religious sect that rapidly grew to power in their quest to cleanse the "Tainted Earth". They operate without restraint, leading constant crusades and raids against Tainted and Marauder held villages and cities.

>Marauder, large and strong, bestial features prominent and obvious. You can overpower any human but may be outsmarted easily by them. (Write in beast features. increased size and claws are already present. Ex- large jaws, slitted pupils, scaly/furry hide, tail, etc)

>A lean and scarred Tainted. You could pass for human if you covered your eyes/kept your mouth closed. You stand slightly taller than an average human and your reflexes are lighting quick. (Write in 2 slight beast traits (slitted pupils, small claws, fangs, etc)

Pure human. You are the epitome of human purity, the Grand Purifier himself couldn't claim cleaner blood. You are hardened by a life of hard work and defense against raiders. You can hold your own.

Let's go for Tainted!

Claws & slitted eyes

The sector 1 cops could see the silhouette of her athletic build against the night sky as she hopped from one building to the next.

“Hey, give it back!”

“Not a chance,” she said.

Ah, sector 1 cops are my favorite; no authority to shoot and they're basically stooges. No, the real authorities that I have to worry about are the Guilds.

After putting some distance between herself and the puppet cops Kinsau looked down at the orb that she was holding in her left hand. Its light reflected back into her eyes.

I wonder what it does?

She would have been horrified if she knew--but we’ll get to that all in good time.

Rounding the corner of an alleyway now, she is confronted by a massive shadow blocking the way forward.

Wow, this is a big one.

As it moves into the light though this cyborg of the man is most definitely not a cop.

Kinsau’s smile drops. “Crap. Fighter’s Guild.”

“You got it, toots,” the man says as he lifts a heavy machine gun and points it at her legs.

>Fight
>Run
>Talk
>Clever

Some explanation of the options is in order here: Fight and Run are obvious but “Talk” isn’t, and “Clever” isn’t. Talk suits the situation, for example talk can mean getting information out of someone. In this case talk probably means, ‘talk her way out of it’ which you might have guessed. But you’ll never know exactly what it means until you choose it.

Clever means ‘be clever’ by some means other than just talking. It means ‘solve the puzzle’. If there is something clever she can do in this moment to escape the situation that option is your choice, but be careful, because that doesn’t mean you’ll be successful, though the same is true of any option.

Write ins: You can write a ‘write in’ at any time and if I think it’s a good idea or direction I might choose to pick it up.

Kinsau flicks a strand of hair aside and thrusts the orb forward saying “Back off or I'll use it!!”

The hulking mass hesitates in the dark for only a moment.

“Let me introduce an unwelcome truth, “ the Cyborg says and smirks. “I know who you are and I don't think you know how to use that orb, now do you?”

He flicks a shining strand of metal on top of his gigantic weapon. It clicks and the wheel of the gun starts to spin.

Kinsau tosses all of her weight back and leaps through the air as a bullet bites her in the calf.

Hot pain screams up her leg as she crashes into a pile of trash bags.

“--Ngh!”

The jarring landing causes the orb to slip from her fingertips. It tinkles across the asphalt as it rolls down the middle of the alleyway.

The cyborg’s orange ringed eyes stop focusing on Kinsau and follow the orb. His gun spins down and the firing stops.

>Tch--I have to get out of here and heal up.
>That’s it you bastard. (Fight)

Welcome to Opening night on our production; tonight’s fare is Starborn For Hire Quest! What this is all about is that this is a co-authored crossover, by one Star (of Starborn Quest) and MGHandler (of Magical Girl For Hire Quest). You don’t have to know one or the the other specifically to play, however. We’ll introduce links to mechanics and such as needed, if needed. For now, let the show begin!

A long talk, honestly perhaps the longest talk you’ve ever had in any of your lives. Catching up Lexington took you almost three and a half hours, particularly due to the Doctor’s habit of asking you to repeat a section of your story for more notation. Hell, he asked you such obscure questions such as the architecture of Murillo, and asked that you hand him the diary once you’re done reading up on your past.

But you’ve put that all behind you. Instead, now it is a short walk to relieve Honamurei of driver duty, the tiny blonde flipping the coin through the air to you like some hustler. A brief temptation to catch the coin in your teeth flashes through your mind, but alas you have used up your mirth for this fine day. Taking the coin in hand, you prepare to settle in for the rest of the day while Lexington scribes your adventure into his personal tomes.

It is a mere ten minutes later when everything changes.

An arm, made entirely of roots slowly works its way free of the earth in a slow inevitable rise. The gnarled limb clenches a scroll in its clenched fist as you approach the spot. Allowing the wagon to slow and then stop, uncertainty over the most logical course of action rolls over you...

Until lightning strikes the arm, reducing it into smoldering rubble amidst a crater where only the scroll remains. ”Lex!” You call. ”There’s some magic shit here, probably for you!” Monotone seeps into your voice towards the tail end of the sentence. Thankfully, it is not long before Lexington descends from the wagon and investigates the disturbance, all while muttering spells and enchantments to make sure this is not some elaborate trap designed to murder you all.

”Ah, shit.” He says, scratching his beard.

”What now?” You inquire, frustration apparent in every syllable.

”Favour just got called in.” He confesses, looking over your shoulder you see his name in literal flaming letters of blood. The almost cultish writing is composed into a note, pleading for his assistance in a matter that could “destabilize the planes with its impossibility.” As such, Lexington’s face is grim. ”Good thing we planned an extra couple of weeks comfort into the schedule, because we have to make a detour.”

Detours were not part of the plan, and you begin to tell him as much. ”But Hona’s eye, and the academy-”

”Classes don’t start for four weeks, and it’s shitty to admit, but this is far more important than fixing Hona’s eye.” He lights up a cigarette. ”I’m gonna start us on a portal. You’ll have to push the wagon through it.”

”What will I tell Honamurei?”

”That I had to choose between reality and getting her eye quickly.” He pauses, ”And that I decided she suits her eyepatch.”

For once you find yourself wishing you had gutted Lexington on that day at the side of the road, your first day of life. But instead, you turn on your heel and head in to deliver the news to Luc and Lisbeth. This sucks; but if Lex is going to be playing for such high stakes, he’s going to need a heavy hitter like you on his side.

(Elsewhere...)

The vacation was good to you so far. A signing bonus, a pair of new faces, and some solid downtime with your friends after an unusual job that took an unusual turn.

But, hell, you got paid in spades for it. Heh. That rhymed. But yeah. Sometimes? This life was worth it. If only for the little things. Mercenary work was never dull, that’s for certain. Especially when it’s interdimensionally based.

Lorelei and Izumi, your workmates and fellow dimensionally displaced magical girls for hire are crashing in your apartment at the moment after the welcome party; Lorelei’s lain out on the couch, and Izumi’s just up and on the floor, the other two having left to finalize getting their own place. It’s not the most comfortable, but she doesn’t seem to be showing any hint of distress. You’re just kinda restless, though, up and dressed well before most others would even think of it. It’d been a decent week for you - Sal was nice enough to grant you that time off, now that he had some newbies to break in. You weren’t about to say no to a well deserved vacation after some back to back jobs.

”Heeeeeeeeeyyyy.” Oh, sonofabitch. ”Soooooo, hope you’re good and rested up!”

Like he cares. [blue]”I WAS.”[/blue]
”Gooooood enough! Because something’s come uuuuuuuup, and only my number-one superstar can handle it!” Man, he sounds cheerful about this. Sigh. Whatever. Back to the grind.

[blue]”Sure. Right. How much does it pay?”[/blue] If it’s less than double digits...

”Enough, so don’t worryyyyyy![/] Hmph. Here’s the skinny, thooooough- you’re not going to find this one in the classifieds. It’s for aaaaaaaa...how shall we say, ‘especiale’ client. I’ll keep the soooooob story short, but she’s a lass I’ve been begging to use my services for. And whoopeeeeeeee for me, she’s finally bit the bullet!” Well, ain’t that lovely.

“So, why me specifically?” you whisper out, careful not to wake your compatriots as you walk into the kitchen to get a drink. You’re already tired of doing the mindspeak thing to him.

”Becaaaaause, I want this job to be a SHOWPIECE! Yoooooou’re my superstar, and a representative of what Silver Eye Solutions is about! So of coooooourse you’re going!” As he finishes up, you see a swirl of mercurial silver erupt out of thin air, as Sal materializes from wherever he was.

He’s still a lizard, sitting on the table, and still has those damn sunglasses on. “Iiiiiiii need to you do a bit of guard duty!”

...What.

“Oh, truuuuust me. It’s a looooooot more interesting than it sounds.” His voice is trying to be reassuring. You’re not very assured...but...well, forget it.

“Whatever. You want me to stand around and beat up anyone that gets close to a VIP? Fine.” Not like you’re going to turn down an easy paycheck. Relatively easy, at any rate.

“Ohhhhh, I wouldn’t call it quite thaaaaaat. But I’ll let the client do the talking- she’s rather the showy sort herself, and I can appreeeeeciate a flair for the dramatique!” He twists once, twice, throwing his hands up like an actor yelling to the sky. “She’ll give you alllllllll the details, as well as information on your temporary partner. So if you don’t miiiiiiind….”

Huh. Partner? What, she hired local help and STILL shelled out for this? Whatever. “Alright, then. When am I off?”

“Welllllllll...now.” He does the finger wave before you can register what he said.

“Wait, wha-” And you’re gone.

...Damnit, Sal.

You sit up, blurry eyed and hungover, a loud clattering sends you into pain as the bottle of Jack Daniels falls off the back of the sofa you slept on.

You eventually stand in the dimmed apartment, the irange light of early morning barely filtering through the thick blinds in your apartment. You grab your cell and decide to call off work.

Where are you calling?

Part 1 covers everything from the start of the quest, up until now. We continue from where that thread left off.

In this thread I will cover EVERYTHING. If you have a question about a segment or want another summary, I will be glad to make one for you. I will also answer any question that anyone might have. Even if it's a spoiler, I will answer it in spoilers. This may be your last chance to ask these questions!
So, let's get started.

Our summary thus far:

Heroes, that's a good way to describe them. Protectors of the world, and legends throughout history. Heroes have defended kings and kingdoms for thousands of years since time immortal. It's unclear exactly when the tradition began, but their purpose has always been to maintain the peace and stability of your world. Men and women brought from spaces beyond understanding to act as leaders and protectors. These heroes are not elected by mortal hands, but by the supernatural to protect the world. Thus far, the world has seen the introduction of six such heroes into its ranks.

Jack Albator, the fearless hunter of the seas from Biscotti.
Cody Remington, a cunning and skilled gunfighter who protects Pastillage.
Yuuki Kuschinashi, the beautiful and talented valkyrie of Bruschetta.
Dorje, The small-but-mighty martial artist who hails from Carancha.
Louise Lacerte, The energetic princess-hero of Gallete.
and finally Kayda, the spirited fire of Konditorei.

Typically, kings and queens tend to be the ones who summon them. Though, heroes themselves are very much for the protection of the entity known as the 'barrier'.

The barrier is an ever-present entity which acts sort of like a shield. Some think it's a deity, some think it's the natural result of living beings and the bonds they form. In either case, the barrier itself protects people by separating the spirit from the physical. Essentially allowing people a second chance to escape the clutches of death.

Heroes are people who are granted superhuman and supernatural abilities by the barrier. Typically, normal humans are not very strong, and lack many of the necessary skills to perform magic without years of training. To a hero, this art is a second nature. A hero lives and breathes the essence of the barrier, and receives the strength to face any challenge head-on.

These heroes have been living in Floneyard in relative peace until recently. Jack Albator, the cunning hero of Biscotti, was the first to pick up on the problems afflicting the land. His travels and adventures brought him across many hardships and difficulties. Through his hand-picked team, and his top-notch leadership; he has overcame many great obstacles to uniting the land.

That seems like a good forward. You turn the page back to the first blank page you come across. It's time to start on another chapter.

You are Aligot Aujus. You've taken the brief respite you have from normal, everyday life to work on that recollection book you've been meaning to write. You currently sit inside of a carriage that is slowly making its way to Biscotti over the course of several days. While one day has passed; you still have plenty of time to write before you reach your destination.

Where did you leave off? Oh right, you left off on the attempts on Biscotti castle by the foreign nation of Konditorei. Then you covered the attempted coup by Gallete. Those were fairly hard to write about, as you had very little first-hand experience with what transpired or how they were even corrected by the authorities. You mostly just have second-hand knowledge and eyewitness accounts from people whom you talked to after the fact. So now, you start to pen a new chapter regarding a new subject of which you have some more experience in.

'The maid of Konditorei', that's a good chapter title.
The hero of Konditorei, Kayda, stayed in the care of her summoner. Her summoner being none other than the princess of Konditorei, Greta. Greta lived a very hard life. Her parents were expecting a male heir, and thus never fully gave control of the kingdom to her after their deaths. This caused an uproar in Konditorei and resulted in the kingdom splitting apart at the seams when Kayda was summoned.

To counteract this; Clair, the royal retainer and head maid of Konditorei, traveled alongside Greta. She at first seemed like a mild-mannered and overprotective guardian to Greta. Going as far as to keep Greta locked in her room for her safety. This maid was soon found to have a very dark, and hidden ambition.

Welcome back to Vault Hunter Quest!

You are the dedicated Baal the Salaryman. Former manager for one of several Dahl mining operations before Hyperion started their hostile takeover of the entire planet of Pandora. Without the company to provide your paycheck or a ride back home, you turned to the lucrative but dangerous career of Vault Hunting. So far, you've shot up a bunch of bandits and robots with your new friends/co-workers and hijacked a bandit car in an action movie-like stunt involving jumping from moving vehicle to moving vehicle. And now, you, Henrietta, Simeon, and Flora are staring down a massive tripedal robot standing above a city you were informed was called Shin Splinter.

"Uhh... I don't remember that robot being there when I left." A shrill synthetic voice pops up over your ECHO device.

Oh yeah... Claptrap is here, too.

Welcome back, ladies, gentlemen and hideous tentacled abominations from outside this galaxy, to Rogue Trader Quest. Last session, our heroines Emily and Kay had found themselves in a little trouble on the mysterious jungle world Ator. On a scouting mission, they have arrived at the somewhat suspicious and weirdly rustic "Lirtan colony".

Previous thread: >>1293367
Also at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/1293367/

You're feeling pretty dubious right now. Pretty fucking dubious. About this "colony", about this town, about this whole world. Your guide is twitchy like a tall guardsman trying his best to fit in at an Eldar tea party, the town looks primitive and wooden enough to catch alight if you dropped a cigar, and the atmosphere of the whole planet is worse than a Catachanian's armpit. What you'd love to do right now is to go back to the ship, brew a mug of Thelian spruce coffee and get down to a nice evening of tinkering with the ship's wiring.

Annoyingly, it seems like things won't be that easy... your guide looks he's trying to cover something up, and you might not be allowed to leave quietly. You're standing at the outskirts of the town, unsure whether to venture in or try to scheme a way back to the ship. You have with you a pistol, a two-way radio and an SOS device you call the "fuckup button".

>Press the fuckup button

Doesn't seem like there's much hope of getting back to the ship and off this world just by asking nicely. You reach into your pocket and press the precious small box with the button on. Well. That's sent a message to the ship, so now all you need to do is wait until Fitz turns up with Scoutie - and its gun turret. Hopefully he'll get here soon... but it's not like either of you are helpless maidens. Sometimes you feel like you should need a license just to have Kay on your ship, like a dangerous substance.

Gotta hope that Fitz remembers how to work the controls... you did show them to him pretty thoroughly... posh bastard had the ability to memorise twenty types of Terran architectural style and a lot of other pretty pointless stuff besides. You'll be pretty pissed off if he can't follow what you taught him when it's necessary.

The guide Karpov looks over at you as the three of you stand on the dirt path. He smiles wide and says "Let's go into the town, shall we? I'll show you around."

>Hahaha fuck off
>Ah, sure... [bide your time and wait for rescue]

======================================================

Last time:

You set down your empty bowl and take a look at the plain brown box. Prying the glued end open and tilting the end down, a white rectangle slides into your palm and you look up at your team as they burst out laughing. You furrow your brow and stand up, dropping your empty bowl in Bela’s lap as you pass by. Luckily, this base has very good signage and you find a field shower quickly. Water is drawn directly from the river and through a basic filtration and heating system, somewhat of a luxury, and into a bank of stalls. The stark white plastic interior of the stall causes you to squint as the sunlight bounces off the interior. You close the door behind you and begin disrobing. As you toss your white undershirt to the corner, you notice just how grungy it actually is. Stained grey and hues of brown, you pick it back up and turn the water on. You wash yourself, watching the dirt circle down the drain in amazement. Not long into your shower you hear your teammates across the small hallway as they enter showers of their own.

As you finish rubbing the soap onto your undershirt and giving it a final rinse under the water, you put your pants and boots back on and exit the stall and leave the small shower building. The sun feels good on your skin as you hold out your slightly whiter undershirt in front of you, admiring your handiwork. As you walk down toward the river, you slip the undershirt back on. It dried quickly in the hot sun. You find a large rock sitting down by the water’s edge and plunk yourself down on it. The stone is warm beneath you as you recline on it. You eventually feel your eyelids sag as you prepare to have a well needed nap when the all too familiar snap of an explosion echoes down the river and smoke rises from atop the trees not far away.

Welcome back EFF, I got to work in 3 hours but I'll stick around as long as I can.

>Mount up and stay in the base
>>
You shoot upright as you gaze down the meandering river as smoke rises above the thick jungle the way that you had entered the base. You take a moment to ponder if it’s the fishermen you saw earlier as you pounce to your feet and begin running back to the makeshift hangar. You trot up the hill as Hilda is waiting for you. You begin to ask where Bela is but Hilda waves you forward; you spy Bela running out of the shower stalls, hair wet, pulling her undershirt on as she follows you.

You twist the fly-line around your hand as you rocket up into the air, jumping deftly into the cockpit of your mobile suit. You toss the headset on your head and open communications to your team;

“Tight perimeter, stay within the base.” You bark

“Roger that, Boss.” Hilda replies.
“Sure thing.” Bela chimes a moment later.

Hilda retreats further into the base to gain some elevation, her sniper rifle poised at the riverbank. Both you and Bela mount your shields on the embankment to form a small barrier as you kneel down behind the meager protection.

Another explosion echoes down the river, this time much closer. You spy the waves in the river rippling unusually as a third explosion bursts into your main camera’s view. Two small boats come flying through the smoke, gunfire and smoke billowing around them.

“Hold, team.” You announce over the headset.

The boats go racing by, paying no attention to the base or its defenses. Out of the smoke, a glowing red dot pierces the smog. Next, a glowing arc illuminates the haze as it slices through the air, plunging into the river; narrowly missing the boats as they continue to speed away. A lumbering green monolith pulls the heat hawk from the river bed and sets its sights on the base and squares up to face your team.

Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.

“This looks bad...”

Suffice it to say, morale was not high when Tsuki appeared on the television. You were already in a confused state moments before the reveal... you really didn't need the end of the world thrown on top of this.

“Kazuma, who was that?” your mother asks, staring intently at the screen. “Something about him... I could feel power just by looking at him. Is he some sort of...”

“Demon?” you ask. “Yeah, he is. Things have changed in the last year at that school... it's gotten more dangerous.”

“How?”

“Can't explain right now,” you reply. “Right now... we need to take care of this.”

“But Kazuma-”

“Stay inside mom,” Kiriko smiles and assures her. “We'll be fine, I promise.”

You turn to walk out the door, but your mother reaches out and grabs you by the wrist. He grip is tight, and keeps you firmly in place. “What is it...”

Your mother sniffles. “Kazuma... giving birth to you was the second most painful experience of my life.”

“And I take it the first was your accid-”

“No,” Namika replies. “The single most painful experience of my life was watching you and Kiriko leave for that school... but both of those were also the proudest moments of my life. When you were born and swaddled in clothing with that bright dumb face... so pudgy, didn't have any idea of the life ahead of him... I was so happy. You brought a light into my life, Kazuma... and a much as I cried every night after you and your sister left, I knew that the two of you would rise to the occasion, become leaders... heroes. You're my little baby boy, Kazuma... and I'm so proud of the man you're becoming. Please... be safe.”

“I will,” you promise your mother. “Mom... I'm sorry.”

“No, I'm sorry,” your mother replies. “I love you. Both of you.”

“Love you too, mom!” Kiriko smiles as the three of you exit her apartment. The door shuts behind, and you realise you didn't tell your mother you loved her... but you meant to. No time for that now, you'll tell her when you get back.

“It is time...” Mayu mutters, summoning her Katana. “We go into battle... together.”

“Man, what a crappy New Year...” Kiriko mutters. “Come on, guys! No time to waste!”

Kiriko rushes ahead, leaving you and Mayu to stare at each-other. A long silence falls between the two of you, before Mayu blushes and begins to move on.

“Mayu, wait!” you exclaim. “I need to know-”

“Kazuma... do you honestly expect to have this conversation now?” Mayu mutters.

“Good point...” you reply, scratching the back of your head. “Well, I... uhh... you're a good...”

“We must keep moving,” Mayu interrupts, pressing ahead.

You let out a sigh as she moves on. Just your luck... when things finally started to look like they were getting better, when you were sitting there, locking lips with this beautiful, wonderfully odd girl and exploring these new feelings... that's when the bad guy shows up. Of course.

You move on with the others to the outside, and... wow. The place is crawling with Darkworld energy, and figures... and demons.

“Man, do you think it's like this everywhere?” Kiriko asks.

“Nah, this is the biggest city,” you reply. “He obviously put most of his focus on here... we might be next on the chopping block after Raibaru...”

“Not very reassuring, bro.”

“Sorry...” you mutter.

“Well, what is our next course of action?” Mayu asks. “We must have some sort of idea to escape this.”

“Well, our first thought should be finding the others,” you command. “Hoshi senpai is probably at the Shooting Star offices... but look...”

You point to the top of the offices, drawing Kiriko and Mayu's attention towards the events transipiring... the building being attacked by a series of demons, led by... Selene. Of course, the entire building is coated in a massive shield that seems to be keeping them out. Hoshi's doing no doubt, but you're curious as to how much it's taking out of her while she does it by herself... even if Reiji's there backing her up, they won't last long.

“It's her again!” Kiriko yells. “That big demon jerk tried to kill us! She almost killed the dumb ape! Oh, I'll show her I mean business!”

“We may need back-up...” you mutter.

Mayu nods. “Well, are any of the others present in the city?”

You pause trying to think it through. “Hanako...”

“Hanako?” Kiriko asks. “She's from here?”

“Yeah,” you reply. “She's actually pretty close. Follow me, she told me where she lived a while ago.”

You, Kiriko and Mayu rush towards the gas station, just one street over from your mother's apartment building, and it doesn't take much to find Hanako on the street, sitting down and rubbing her backside, a flail by her side and surrounded by the black good of destroyed demons.

“Hanako... did you do that?” you ask.

“I-it was an accident!” Hanako mumbles, before looking around at the gooey puddles. “Oh, I beat them... nice!”

Hanako smiles, as you make your way over to her and help her to her feet. Of course, she butts heads with you as she does.

“Oops!” Hanako replies. “Sorry! H-how did all of this happen?”

“Tsuki,” you reply. “And he's got Yami by his side... but we're going to take them down.”

“Oh...” Hanako replies. “Oh look, the angel is here!”

Hanako points to the sky, as you see Selene being driven off by a blinding light, one set off by a blonde woman with large white wings, flying in the sky. Eos, the daughter of Taiyo. The two “sisters” do battle in the air, by Eos seems to get the better of it, driving Selene and her pack of Moonbeasts and Demons off before giving chase.

“Would have been nice if she could stop and chat...” Kiriko complains.

“It won't be the last we see of them today,” you reply.

“True...” Kiriko shrugs. “Now what do we do?”

>We should try to get into contact with the others. We're not any use without the full team.
>Let's get into Shooting Star offices while we have the chance. Hoshi can help us.
