The glorious Empire of the Sun has reformed. Our Emperor commands us to bring back the glory we lost the the American pigs. Our vengeance shall be swift and furious.

You are part of an expeditionary force, sent ahead insert themselves in the country and wreak havoc from behind enemy lines while the invasion force prepares. You and your team are the best of the best- able to blend in as an immigrant, charm your way through conversations, and assassinate any targets you so desire, slipping away unseen afterwards. You in particular are the best shot in the Empire- dozens have fallen to your rifle.

The Empire's will shall be done.

So, which country shall we tear apart first?

The morning after your clever ruse proves successful you address your minions. Many are relieved that the adventurers have been avoided entirely, although several of the Scalefolk quietly grumble their disappointment at missing out on a fight. The mushroom men are quick to get back to work tending their garden, saying that within a few days some of their seeds will fully mature. Looking at them yourself you see the mushrooms are about three feet tall, a little shorter than the average sized Myconids among them. They sit unmoving, and look ordinary save for a few thin lines that look vaguely like a set of eyes and a mouth. The Father says that their arms will split from their bodies and they will uproot themselves before splitting their bottom into two legs for walking, at which point they will be fully grown and as capable as any other Myconid. The Chieftain says that his tribe will soon have more able bodied minions as well. The lack of gender dimorphism and an entirely carnivorous diet means that all of their young are trained to be capable hunters as well as homemakers. Soon the next generation will go on a ceremonial hunt, bringing down a fearsome beast and taking their first steps into adulthood.

3 Myconids on their way
4 Scalefolk on their way

(Rolling for days at work for minions is kinda broken considering you can get a 0 with equipment bonuses. Work now takes at least one day, if your equipment bonus puts you at less than one the bonus transfers to the next project.)

In this quest, Demons walk the earth and ravage the land as they see fit. The players assume the role of a adventurer in these dark times. Seeking fame and fortune.
>For newcomers
Simply type your character's name, gender, and race and yee shall spawn into the Dark world.
>Notes on the Quest System
The setting is similar to darkest dungeon, but both you and enemies are not confined to specific areas. Rather, you have an entire world to explore.
As for the system itself, it a large homebrew mix of Pathfinder, Shadow of the Demon Lord, and Savage Worlds taking bits and pieces from those systems as I see fit.

>The soft but cold wind gracefully caresses your peak, as you find yourself looking at the bright sky, with your wings extended and your back lying on something...very smooth. You turn your body to the left while you lead your claws to the cotton-like ground
>When you stand up...wow...what an image. You quickly notice how the floor you're cururrently standing up is made up entirely of firm, smooth, blue clouds. Looking up and around you, your eyesight, a gif from mother nature, allows you to spot what looks like a floating piece of land, just a couple of meters above the clouds, to the north
>You bend your legs and open your wings very quickly, and start flapping as you jump, only to find that there is no wind that can take you over there. In fact, the wind that woke you up was gone as quickly as you stood up. This means that you cannot fly, so gravity takes you to the cotton-ground just as fast as you tried to fly

>Now, it is only a matter of time until another airstream arrives. Or maybe there was something else you missed, because something is clearly wrong in here. Will you explore the zone while a wind arrives? Or will you try again, to see if you can flap your way up there?

>The vicious snow whips around as you step further into the frozen wasteland of Tairmora. However as you're walking you spy a small pixie which lay upon the surface of the snow.
>Cautiously to you approach. It lay still and unmoving.
>You lay a hand upon it with a grave expression. Feeling it's ice cold body. Suddenly you feel a slight pulse. It startles you.
>You gasp.
>You grab her body from the snow.
>With urgency you're compelled to seek shelter. Luckily you spot a cave not too far from where you are.
>You run toward the cave.
-
>Her body begins to warm up as the flame flickers next to her.
>Within an hour or so waiting by the fire she rouses from her cold state into awareness.
>"W-where am I?"
>Her soft raspy voice echos off the cave walls.
>Hair light auburn, her body thin and emaciated looking.
"You're in a cave just outside the town of Mortenal."
>She rubs her eyes staring at the fire.
>Her body covered in brown raggedy clothes that have seen much wear.
>"Why.. Why did you save me?"
>You raise an eyebrow.
"Why wouldn't I? What priest leaves a girl to die in the snow?"
>"You're a priest?"
"Right now I'm on a mission from the church, to warn the towns up north to arm themselves with holy relics against the Malformed hordes."
>"M-malformed? What are those?"
"A race of demons unleashed by an ancient curse a long time ago. They have steadily been growing in number and in form."
>She rubs her head.
>"So.. Now demons are loose."
"Might I ask for your name?"
>"Its Veronica, and you?"
"I'm Anon, a pleasure."
>You offer your hand.
>She places her little hand in yours as you gently shake it.
>"So you're some kind of big time demon hunter from the church."
"Hardly. I only came to warn of the impending waves encroaching ever steadily upon the north so these towns don't find themselves consumed."
>"Consumed?"
"Aye. Malformed will attack en masse, and when they do, they devour the townsfolk."
>She shivers.
>"That's horrible."
"That isn't the worst of it. When they consume a town, the town itself becomes a breeding ground which spawns an endless army of malformed. Only top level priests can purify it at that point. And even then, it is no small feat."
>Veronica stares pensively at the fire.
>"What shape do they take?"
"They are grotesque foul looking abominations. They can only walk the earth at night. But when they do, they assume the shapes of malformed men and beasts. Nightmarish tormented looking creatures that look as though they crawled from the darkest most forgotten corner of hell."
>"Only at night huh?"
>Your wounds from earlier pang at you.
>You wince in pain.
>"What's wrong?"
>You clutch at your wounds.
"It's nothing.. The villagers, they.. Didn't take kindly to a foreign religion."
>She slowly approaches you.
>"You're hurt."

>She smells the air.
"What are you doing?"
>"You.. You smell of purity.. That's rare for a human."
"I care not what happens to me.. But the villagers.. Engh.."
>You try to stand but stumble.
>"Anon!"
"I must go back and try to warn them again.."
>"The storm has not let up!"
"It is of no consequence. You are free to stay here in this cave till the storm lets up."
>"And.. What will you do? Go back?"
>You grimace.
"I must. When a town is consumed. All lives within the town cannot seek rest. They are trapped within it. Even death will not offer respite for them. It will be hell on earth till the area is purified."
>She gasps.
"The malformed dislike the light. I can cast light magics at least to defend the town in case of attack."
>She balls her fists.
>"But you just said you weren't a demon hunter."
>You chuckle.
"It's true. I'm just an ordinary priest.. But I should at least be able to hold a few of them back.. Maybe some will have time to escape."
>She balls her fists.
>"You.. You idiot."
"Be sure when you escape to travel by day and rest in certain towns by night. Those protected by the church cannot be entered by Malformed, they are safe."
>She grits her teeth before flying over to you.
>"You're a fool, but.. I owe you my life."
"Veronica.."
>"I can enhance your magic, at least a little."
"Are you sure? You've only just been revived."
>"As if you're one to talk."
"Fair enough."
>>
>>1351484
>"Who is that over in the snow?"
>"Bah, it's that damn priest again."
>"Heh, apparently he didn't learn his lesson well enough the first time. We'll just have to stone him even harder this time."
>You arrive in town.
"People, please.. Listen."
>A rock suddenly whizzes past you.
>"We won't listen to you heretic!"
>"Get out priest!"
>They chuck rocks at you.
>You're forced to retreat.
------
>Outside the town.
>Veronica pops out from your hood.
>"Well, that went well."
"We mustn't give up, there is still time to get defenses set up."
>Suddenly another voice from next to you.
>A small red headed girl with freckles holding a loaf of bread approaches you.
>"Defenses against the demons, right mr. priest?"
>She hands you the loaf.
>Your stomach growls.
"Ah, thank you child."
>You take a piece of it ripping it off and handing it to Veronica.
>You take the remaining bread biting into it.
"The town needs a barrier of salt around it. But I have very little, only enough to board off one or two houses."
>"Salt?"
"Salt on the entrances makes an impenetrable holy barrier which the Malformed cannot penetrate."
>"Theres salt in the bakery! If we get that we can use a whole bunch of it to protect the town."
>Veronica speaks in response,
>"That's assuming the people here are gonna just let us waltz in and start dumping their salt everywhere."
"Yes I doubt we'll be able to pull it off before nightfall."
>Hmmm

Surely we can figure out a way to save the town.

-------------
Additional notes
-----
>Your holy magic becomes stronger the more good deeds you do.
>It will weaken if you choose to do morally ambiguous or bad things.
>Regular weapons can kill Malformed, but it is generally far more effective to use holy magic or holy blessed weapons or bullets.

>Why are you still here?

Stubbornness and spite. Or as it's more commonly known, idiocy.

Anyways I'm putting together shit for a new quest, one where the mechanics heavily involve customization of player equipment, most notably, in this case, of a car-sized walking robot used for exploration.

What do people generally want to change or affect the most with this sort of thing?

If anybody has any experience, positive or negative, to share, I'd appreciate hearing that to.

Welcome to 'I'm up.', an original, Silent Hill-esque quest.

Last time on 'I'm up.' we managed to get into that pesky tailoring shop, but not before we overcame several obstacles. Broken doors and skinny windows didn't stop us from sending the slightly deranged stranger through the broken glass pane, and entry was just a payphone call away. Before this, though, we did meet a faceless, voiceless specter that took the shape of a woman. She seemed timid and mild, and approached us with the intent to heal... Quite literally, it was a 100% heal.

Apparently phones are the only things that work in this town, because a quarter and a business card phone number was the key to unlocking the front door to Anna's Tailoring. The back door was useless going in or out of it, it seemed. Once inside the stranger managed to turn the fuse box on and get some light into the building. You both jumped through several hoops, the stranger coming out with a needle and a thread to mend your satchel and you earning the key to Leewell Grocery, three quarters for the payphones, and a blue and silver Class Ring.

Immediately after, the store phone rings and you're left a message. It's a woman panicking, fearful for her life while a seven foot man staggers about near her car. Wouldn't you know it, as soon as you and the stranger take a look outside the spitting image of a hulking man with a burlap sack over his head is shuffling in the streets... And he seems to bring a mist of chilling death along with him.

You and the stranger split ways, her taking off down the street and you deciding to escape through the Tailoring shop. Unfortunately, things did not go as you hoped. You were cornered in the back room of the store, and this... Thing that chased you down only had to extend its arm towards you for you to feel the fierce coldness of death.

...Well. Is it death? Did you really die?

It just feels like you're dreaming.

You can feel the wind brushing against your cheeks as you tear through the field. Every time your feet propel you across the grass you can hear the soft, rustling crunch that you love so much. The sky stretches over you infinitely, clouds whipping by with their distorted, bloated white shapes, changing from everything to taper into nothing. You're not shivering and you're not sweating... It's a perfectly cool day.

It is perfect. It's absolutely perfect.

You can feel the corners of you mouth stretch into a big smile, teeth bared and a healthy heart beating inside of your chest. You can feel your hair sticking to your face and bobbing wildly as you continue to run. You can even feel that breathy hitch in your throat, a mix between a beginning exhaustion and giddy laughter.

Another sound creeps into your ears, the sound of rubber hitting rubber. You tilt your head down and along with the blurred definition of the grass is a soccer ball alongside your foot. You hadn't noticed it before, but you're handling this rather well. You don't miss a beat guiding the ball, the cheers and shouts of the mixed crowd around you letting you know just what kind of caliber you are as an athlete.

A crowd. There are other people here. You look up and can't see a single soul, but there is no doubt that a gathering of people are collected at this field. And you know they're responding to what you're doing. You shift left with the ball... You shift right... You slow down and you speed up, and each time elicits a different reaction from your fans and enemies.

There's something surreal about this environment. No matter how far you go there is no goal. The sky keeps going, stretching on and on and on... And the continuous echoes of the crowd around you never seem to get significantly louder or quieter. And that sound, the wonderful, steady sound of your feet sprinting against the grass, is the most wonderful, joy-inducing sound that you've ever heard.

You actually laugh, you're so happy. You shut your eyes tight and open your mouth as a string of laughter comes out. Each sound echoes five times further, filling the air with an ecstatic dissonance.

It feels good. You feel good. Everything has its own rhythm and harmony, singing to you on a deep spiritual level that you didn't even know you possessed. It's bright, and it's warm, and it's got you completely drugged on this elation. You stretch open your arms in an attempt to soak up as much of this beautiful day as possible.

You could do this forever.

The ball is still within your range, close enough for you to control how you'd like to handle it.

A. Keep kicking the ball.

B. Stop kicking the ball.
>>
>Stop kicking the ball.
>>
>>1351644
>B. Stop kicking the ball.
Aren't there still 2 people who could potentially die from Buff Monster?

By the way, it too me a bit to consider the reason you were stretching the last chase scene for as long as you did, hoping one of us would remember something important before we dead-ended ourselves. You could try integrating that sort of stretching of time into an in-character hint where the character has a feeling or sixth-sense that "We're forgetting something important, but can't put our finger on what or why that is," to give us a clue that we should go look back on previous scenes to check for a detail before we wreck ourselves.

You are Shaggy Rogers.

Your journey continues as you continue your quest as a werewolf. You've already packed up your things to leave for Miss Grimwood's as you have decided to retake your role as coach for Grimwood's Finishing School for Girls. You've reunited with everybody and are surprised but at the same time proud to see how much the girls have grown over the years.

You are now adjusting to your new life with Scooby and Winnie (who is now your girlfriend/mate) accompanying you. You are now confident that you can this as you continue to fight through your struggle as a werewolf and that you continue to maintain most of your humanity despite your current state.

Though you feel you may have to face serious consequences with the likes of your old nemesis Count Dracula and your soon-to-be father-in-law, The Wolfman or as Winnie addresses him as "Papa Werewolf". It is only a matter of time until you have full confronted to these situations.

But for now... you are now in your room currently unpacking, making yourself at home with Winnie helping you get comfortable. It took you a couple of hours to have everything set up. Now you feel like you're at home.

Now you only wonder what to do from here while the night is still young....

Hello players, it's good to be back again for once.

For those who want to know where I went I'm just gonna flat out say that I took a break. It's not only because I needed a break but because I was suffering from thing called "writer's block" and I'm sure every writer has that nowadays.

But now that I no longer have that issue I'm back (hopefully for good this). So I'm sorry for the inconvenience I mean I tried to get back at it but I couldn't but I feel myself coming back to it once again.

So again I apologize for my absence and for leaving this quest to rot without a proper explanation, so hopefully we can get back on track and keep this quest.

Feel free to choose or pitch in suggestions so I can get to it and write it out though I can't promise I'll take your suggestions right off the bat if I can't work with it or if someone votes or leave a suggestions that turns out better than yours.

So hopefully ya'll can still have fun as this quest continues I do intend to keep this thread alive until the number of posts reach it's limit.

So lets try to keep this thread alive and remember to keep enjoying yourself.

Happy Questing guys!

"Black Hearts. Cold Steel. Dark Deeds."

These are the words of the Black Company, the infamous band of mercenaries that has been on one side or the other of every major conflict on the continent since its founding.
The Company has seldom cared who they fight for or the cause so long as they are paid, and paid well, when the killing work is done. Though they may be considered by some to be little more than glorified brigands, it cannot be said that the Black Company is not good at what they do.

Recently the Company has taken up a contract with a new employer, one more powerful than any that have come before. An employer with endless ambition, as well as the means and lack of moral scruples needed to pursue it. An employer that pays well...

You are Lieutenant 'Prince'. A seasoned NCO of the Black Company that, through a cruel twist of fate, found yourself landed with an officer's commission. Now you find yourself in command of the 7th Kiregstrom Shocktroopers, a position with more responsibility and scrutiny than you ever wanted.

7th Kriegstrom Platoon
Comprised of the most well-armed and armoured troops, 7th Platoon offers the meanest, fiercest and, given the mortality rate, dumbest soldiers to be found in the Black Company. A more bizarre collection of fighting men and women has likely never been seen. Down-on-their-luck heroes with a magic swords and brooding pasts like Cairsun; escaped slaves with a penchant for magik like Nissar; disgruntled veterans of the Nuemunster Legions like Corporal ‘Jack’ Marcus; Scarred Wildborn ‘Smiles’ (because fighting is really all a Wildborn knows); aging Skald huscarls like Hirstun of Ligh that should have retired long ago. You even have a mute rotten undead warrior, ‘Mask’, which is one even you haven’t heard before. Nevermind the fekking Dragon.

They’re your men (and women). Mercenaries, that kill for money. Warriors, with the right degree of pride and stubbornness. Soldiers, that fight for the man next to them. You never wanted this position, deciding who dies where. Dark Father knows it’s only a matter of time before you get them all killed.

Recap
Following the fall of the Neumunster city of Sarsburg several weeks ago, your Employer has sent his unholy host spread throughout the entirety of the western and northern reaches of the Neumunster Nation. While the main part of the Company and the undead went west to Oxenfurt Bridge, you were tasked with the seizure of the northern town of Kresden.

You've done that. And better yet you've taken it almost entirely intact, protecting both buildings and inhabitants alike from the violence (sort of) and the unsavoury attentions of your own reinforcements (mostly). And now the whole of what's left of Northern Nuemunster stretches before you undefended. It's time to project force from your secure town and bring the crumbling 'Empire' to heel.

Three days have passed since you marched out of Kresden. Yesterday you cemented your Black reputation by brutally disposing of not one but two renowned Skald warriors, in a manner no one is likely to forget.

You spent the night at a quickly-flooding Fort Casca to make sure the southern half of the Hāastweiser River has died off enough to prevent a Skald fleet from using it. Now begins the two-day march back to the relative safety of Kresden.

Despite somewhat distracted by concerns of a plot to free the boy-heir by a traitor that you suspect is Saint, you make sure to devote some time fretting about how the other missions are proceeding.

A frantic sense of alarm rippled through the Think Tanks and echoed through the depths of the Deep Rots vast mind that shook you to awareness at a moments notice. Alarmed mental shouts from the Think Tanks of the irradiated world you hosted much of your research upon were difficult to parse through at first. Thoughts of containment breaches and unexpected energy signatures were rather common for the planet where they conducted their experiments to further the cause of the Armada but now among them were mental shouts of Wraith incursions and anomalous occurrences.

From what you could gather of the sensor data there were signatures that resembled the strange energies of the Anomalous Rift that had been torn open in space. Yet through the chaos you found a single Think Tank trying its best to raise its psychic voice above the others and upon focusing it speaks of relief to have gained your attention.

Deep in a lonely cavern of the scorched planet a lone Think Tank had gone somewhat rogue after it's theories concerning the Anomalous Rift were initially disproven by the other Think Tanks. In a spark of sudden stubbornness the Think Tank had secluded itself from the collective and continued its work. Upon the recent breakthrough by the Armatocere Mindvines with Quasiphasic Theory in relation to Wraith incorporeality they had also reached a moment of clarity.

And now it floats in its lonely cavern lab, a chamber of rough-wrought bone and metal sat with a tangle of cables branching off its base. It's shell crackled with Necrotic energy as it drew upon the power of a Necrotic Reactor but the energies emitting from it were far from normal. The strange emissions that had sent the other Think Tanks into a panic issued from this prototype pod.

Slats of bone slide open and from the interior twisted light that the local sensors could not penetrate, emerged a sinuous shape of a Gargoyle that had been inside the chamber when the experiment was initiated.

It's form wavered and flickered faintly like a damaged hologram and it's mind hazy but still responsive as you look through its central eye. Strange alien colors illuminated its sight from unseen sources but obeyed your commands to move forward. With another it dashes forward and slithers through the solid stone of the cavern wall into an adjoining passage, startling a group of Talons pushing hovercarts of biomass.

The Think Tank beams with pride as you congratulate its breakthrough, its fellows hurriedly pouring over the data of their experiment now that their panicked energy turned toward wonderment and a lust for further knowledge. Many already begin debating new theories and arguing old ones, the scorched world returning its chaotic normalcy of intense debate and dangerous experimentation.

Welcome to Rimworld Quest! A mostly improvised quest heavily inspired by Rimworld, a game by Tynan Sylvester.

To begin, vote on a scenario (starting difficulty).

>Slaves. You're a cargo of slaves on a repurposed supply barge, either captured or traded from various exotic planets. Your pirate captors have kept a tight leash on you with strict schedules, tight security and the fear of punishment.

>Soldiers. You're a mercenary crew of former soldiers on contract to provide security and other necessary services to a colony ship once landfall is made. The unit is in cryptosleep for the entire duration of the journey, running CQC neurosimulations.

>Rich Explorers. You're a small but well funded and well supplied expedition of curious scientists and entrepreneurs, eager to make landfall on an exotic, wild Rimworld in your advanced science vessel to learn all you can about the planet's flora, fauna and cultures.

I'm guessing this is the easiest option? If so, I'm going for this knowing how the difficulty of Rimworld gets.

It's the nicest starting scenario, though things may change quickly.

We don't need starting turrets.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the game, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first. Infact, you can do more than one move in a row like the anime, but so can your opponents.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.
