Talked to a lot of WWII vets when I worked in a rest home. Most of them feel indifferent to the Germans but still hate the Japs or any flat-faced yellow people. I've experienced the opposite with family/their friends that fought during WW2.

They hated the krauts more than one can imagine. Including civilians that experienced the V1 rockets hitting areas in Britain and the bomb shelters they had to run in their backyards when the krauts were dogfighting over London. It also probably depends on the fronts they fought on.
