I noticed this too, anon. I think that it's because talking politics is the only think most lefties (NPCs, if you will) have to convey their personalities with. It's actually really sad. They don't have a personality or depth of thought and use petty politics/virtue signaling to fill the void.

Also note that it's really just liberals who do this. Conservatives tend to be the ones who push for non-political talk (because they know liberals will sperg out once you do).

Because now politics has seeped it's way into the finer things in life. You can't discuss movies, art, anything without some asshole trying to use politics as a reason you can't talk about it or enjoy it.
