I am planning to start a Republican club at my school in a year or so. However, I don't really know my literature surrounding the philosophy so I hope to start a weekly book club on pol. I remember an anon here wanted to start it up last time but it never really pulled through. Would there be any takers on this idea and suggestions? I was thinking of making one post every day as an update around 5pm EST. Every day would have a recommended pace of what page you should be at to finish in time.

I noticed that racial categorization and segregation (even to the point of having clubs/organisations related to race) is highly prevalent in America.
Personally, I would have thought that with America being so multi-racial that generally people would care less about that sort of stuff.

In contrast, in Britain (provided you're not part of a group that deliberately segregates itself such as some Pakistanis), people really don't seem to care where you're from. You're just British. Sure, if you have some interesting ancestry that might be the topic of a conversation, but that's about it.

Oddly, I previously had the impression that Americans were more interested in their national pride as just Americans, but as I get to know the country more I see how strongly obsessed it is with racial categorization. Oh, and for clarity, I'm talking about all races not just the historical black/white divide.
