Yo /pol/,
I'm authoring a collection of papers on nationalist politics and the new left, and the interaction between them. In the first I say, "Nationalism has become the western world's most misunderstood ideology, and it has wrongly been associated directly with hate, violence, and general misconduct." I'm attempting to preface with a rational definition of nationalism, so I can explain why nationalists believe what they believe.

This is the definition that I came up with, roast me and help me change it if I need to:

"Allow me to state what I believe to be the four inherent principles behind nationalism:

i. A state's duty to its people is to ensure the state's survival.
ii. A people's duty to their state is to contribute to its survival.
iii. A state that does not advance resources to self preservation is doing a disservice to its people.
iv. A people that does not volunteer a portion of their resources to the state are doing a disservice to their fellows."

A note real quick on the final principle, I don't mean that people should necessarily feel obligated to offer their income or a portion of it to the government. Taxes can be argued on separately, that's not what I'm talking about. Here, "resources" refers to personal service in any way (including financial contribution if that is the desired method), and "a people" refers to the entire populace, This means that some portion of the population is loving of their country enough to offer their resources to contribute to the continued existence of the state, and preservation of the state's pride.

I made a thread last night talking about a new tax plan being tossed around called the FAIR tax (pic related). In the chart you see how for the first 10 years there is a 20% consumption tax (the only tax under the proposed system). After 10 years the rate gradually decreases.

An anon asked how USA would be able to maintain it's military might while reducing taxes. I'm not satisfied with the answer I gave. Along with gutting the government of excess and streamlining the functions, we should expect the proper oversight to prevent price gouging (the $5000 hammer example).

To my little brain, that should reign in the cost of maintaining a small government and an amazing military. Any thoughts?
