Hi /po/ first time here,

I've got a project coming up where we have to make a paper airplane that can fly a minimum of 20 feet.

I figured you guys would be a pretty good source for ideas

any tips/ideas?

Only issue is I would need external links to whatever you guys wish to show, i'll probably need to cite my sources.

Thanks in advance

get one of those "the best planes you'll ever fly" books, dunno from where to get it really
>>
dafuq OP i went to search up stuff and google gave me tons of sources, don't be lazy OP dammit

http://www.arvindguptatoys.com/arvindgupta/aero.pdf

http://srel.uga.edu/outreach/kidsdoscience/sci-method-planes/airplane-designs.pdf

http://web.mit.edu/swe/www/PaperAirplanes.pdf

one's even from MIT so you could give that one to your teacher in APA source style so that she shits the pants

You could also search for annular (or ring) paper plane, they're completely different from usual paper planes. It is said that they glide really well but you have to learn how to properly launch it.

By the way you should spend a fair amount of time to train to launch your paper plane, even if you don't go for the ring wing. Launch technique is probably at least as important a the choice of the paper plane model.

The choice of material is probably also very important.

I never did any papercrafts before but today I put together this little guy and I had a lot of fun doing it. I would like to move onto some more complex papercrafts, but the amount of paper pieces in some scare me off. Got any tips for beginner?

try cubeecrafts or boxpunx to get a better feel for building before you go on to more advanced models with multiple pages. use white glue and a toothpick to apply glue to the tabs. score your fold lines with an old pen instead of cutting them and most of all have patience. practice makes perfect.

and here is my collection of boxpunx

also here are some other random models

Hello friends! I really need a few of these pages translated from Japanese into English. I tried to make these, but realized I don't know how to put them together because I don't understand the words... I would be super grateful for a translation! You could learn how to make this also )

I'm most interested in making the model on page 3 which takes 12 units. The book is "Modular Origami 2" by Tomoko Fuse, the legend herself.

That's the usual way to lock modular units - point in pocket.
What is your problem exactly?

a ton of people (especially prop/costume makers) harden their work with fiberglass and resin and there are a ton of vids of it on youtube.
as for where to get the templates you can search "papercraft stormtrooper" or "stormtrooper pepakura." Either way you have to download pepakura to view the pdo files once obainted

It would be pretty hard

I shapped a piece of modern art...this object is a representation of rare poopo. when the planets align and you can finally drop that bomb that has been there for a week.
It falls into the toilet, splashing your buttcheeks but giving you an heavenly release.
You look at that big thing for some minutes, contemplating the smoke comming out of it and sad because eventually ou will have to flush your rarity down the toilet.

Can I get a step-by-step how to fold this?

I read somewhere that he doesn't plan to sell it anytime soon. Making a version suitable for selling would take too much time.

He offered it up for sale some time back but I think the price is too expensive. Don't know of anyone who took up the offer.

Cranes are nice, but if you like folding the same stuff (which is meditative, same here), why don't you try modular origami? Personally I prefer modular stuff because I find kusudama balls and similar stuff make better gifts, too.
>>
You can give them away to people you know

You can make other birds

You can take them with you when you go out in a car and throw them out the window at pedestrians while shouting CAAAWWW CAAAWWW

It's a model of Seo won seon (redpaper), here is the flickr link : https://www.flickr.com/photos/origamist/2705906515/in/photostream/

There is no informations about this model on gilad's origami page so i'm afraid that no diagram or video exists. You can still try to ask redpaper if he has a CP that he's willing to share.

That's top tier advice OP, follow it next time.

If you're interested in origami roses then the pentagonal rose of naomiki sato is the best looking one in my opinion.

here is a tuto : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5RoCdXCTEw

Pic related, the top one is from canson "mi-teinte" (120gsm i think) and the bottom one is from simple colored printer paper. I might do a third one with lokta or unryu some day.

Nice one!
Can you share instructions on how to do it?
>>
nice fotoshope

Just bought one of these things.
After considering buying a USCutter Titan or something else, I realized my ambitions were too great and I didn't really need more than 12" of cutting.
I read some reviews of the Explore Air 2 vs Cameo 3 and I felt the Explore was slightly better.
I got it at Joanns.
What do?
