Were you responding to my request or is this just the weirdest coincidence? Either way, have the most recent thing I did (it's not that recent).
Want to start origami. Already know the crane but want someting more complex and cuter looking
Butterfly's are pretty cool and vary of complexity. Yoshizawa's butterfly's look cool af.

Oh I forgot to say, start with a blintz base for that
Hey there /po/, I'm trying to fold this dragonfly but there's one step I just don't get how to fold it even through the photos provided. :/
http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-dragonfly.html
pic related, it's the step I don't get.
>>553361
I see. Basically what you need to do is fold the corner of the big triangle towards the centerline and then flatten the resulting flap between that fold and the wing. The bad image quality of this site doesn't help.
OP here.
Thank you so much, I quickly figured itout with your explanation.
Usually my fold are much cleaner though ... I don't really enjoy folding this model, probably won't do it again.
I varied it a little, adding some antennae with the leftover paper from reverse folding the head.

Gosh you'd have been crucified anywhere else
Are there any functional paper craft bug houses? I'm hatching mantises, and wanted to build some decorative houses for them. They can't live together, and literally hundreds can come out of a single ooth (egg sack), so it would have to be something that could be built a few a night until they hatch. Not enough for all hundreds of course. I was planning on using nylon mesh and hot glue to seal the openings and cracks, and wanted to do better than pic related.
Also, stupid questions thread!

bump for interest
Why are you raising mantises?

Congrats on your trips and being the only person on /po/

Thanx, very much. This is it. If it can be found anywhere, then it can be found on 4chan.
Extra thanx to anonomoose.

Looking for some new modular designs, complex and hopefully kusadama.

Could you link the instructions for the model in pic

No, sorry. I just found it off google, although I do want instructions. I'll do some searching
Hi /po/!
I'm a bit confused: I can't seem to understand what the 15th picture here means.
I've been making these cubes for years but I was looking for a step-by-step pic to teach someone how to make them and I've found several that show that 15th step.
When I get to that part I just blow into the opening and I can't possibly fathom what angle of the origami this shows, or how the picture was taken, I don't know what the rectangular flap at the top or the two triangles pointing down at the bottom are.

Posted too early: any help would be appreciated!

The flaps are just spread out. Keeping looking at it you see and understand it eventually.
Sup /po/,back again with this elector-domestic series of crafts. same thing, not much time to actually build them rn but maybe someone might like to try them out? anyways, better post here than go to waste
Huh, filesize limit lowered or something? can't upload half of these now. nice.

Greetigs. /po/ visitor from /trv/ here -- was attending a kite festival in Mexico, a kid from an orphanage which brought kids out to the event gave me this. I have no idea what it would be called, and can't figure out how to un-fold it without wrecking it. But it is intriguing, would love to know how to make one.
Anybody know what this is or know where a plan for the folding is?

Pic 3 of 3 -- ut sort of accordions out when you gently squeeze the middle section.
It's "Spring into action", a model of Jeff Beynon from a A-like rectangle.
It is diagrammed in many magazines, as you can see (for example) here:

Is it possible to print off pepakura (.pdo) files at places like Kinkos or Staples?
My printer is garbage, and I don't want to waste ink if I need to print out something important later.
>>552660
Yes. Both have online services where you can submit your documents online and have them printed at a local store for you to pickup. Though their systems does not except PDO files, you can save the PDOs as PDFs and have those printed.
>>552660
Right, .PDO only open in Pepakura Designer/Viewer and your local Kinkos, Staples and library wont have that program installed.
So you can conver the files to .PDF like >>552666 said.
Failing those you could printscreen the pages in Pepakura and saved them as image files and print those, just make sure they are the right size. It's janky but could work.
Can do you have them printed on different types of paper too? Serious question.
Is a Rokkaku kite the best type of kite for versatility and ease of usage? I like the tail-free design. What is similar but better?
>>551229
i see
>>551229
Kite guy here just posted about something else, saw your post.
Roks are pretty good, you get a good amount of lift and a lot of adjustabillity. Downside is you have to know enough to deal with the adjustments and all.
Deltas don't generate as much lift, and cannot be adjusted, but also do not need adjusting really. Classic Maylay diamonds can be adjusted slightly (and more like a rok if the dihedral is maintained by a bowline rather than just by a angled fitting) but generate a bit less lift for their length.
Fighting Roks is a great time, by the way.
Where you at? Can hook you up with some local fliers, maybe, if interested.
To stay on topic, some miniature paper kite plans can be found here. I have a plan for a folded rok or diamond with no spars somewhere, if I can find it I'll scan and oppost,

Does anyone have the PDF template for this? Would you mind sharing? Thanks!
Yet another moron asking for wintercrap shit...
>>553214
this is actually Oxigami on Etsy but still the same luck getting these templates posted here as wintercrap. i mean they are priced fairly cheaply for what they are i guess these ppl are just poor bastards.
I learnt to fold cranes on a whim, and I got pretty good at it (I've also folded most of the basics). I'd like to make this my hobby, what should I do next? Any cool books? Any awesome models? Anything is appreciated
The best book for a beginner IMO is "Genuine Origami" by Jun Maekawa.
It has a lot of models from simple to complex.
My favorite designer is Hideo Komatsu. His book has a few easy models as well.
Another excellent book with really beautiful models is "Origami Essence" by Roman Diaz. Also, must try designers are Robert Lang and Satoshi Kamiya.
This make my head hurt. Dude is working 15 hours EVERY day to stitch 72,396 figures. Whut?! cAlling it Shrouds of the Somme.
