I have done photos like this myself, and this doesn't look fake to me.

The edges which are being hit by the laser are sharp because they're being hit with a laser moving pretty fast (the way I do it, and the way this photographer clearly did it, is to just sort of whip the laser pointer back and forth over and over again). So the "exposure" on the edge of the person where the laser is hitting is a fraction of a second. You're not really seeing the model at most parts of the edge, you're just seeing blackness which your brain is filling in as a human shape because you have the laser stripes, so the actual human parts probably *are* a bit blurry, you're just not *really* seeing them.

I'm not sure what you mean by:

Do you mean how they're a little fuzzier than the lines on the person? That's just what you get when a laser hits a less-reflective surface compared to skin. E.g., if the model's on a fuzzy blanket or carpet.

Or do you mean how there's blackness on the background around the model? If so, that's just because the model is casting a shadow.

Example #2. Note also the vast difference between how much laser is reflected when it hits the model's skin (not a lot, so it comes back purple) and when it hit my white sheets (much brighter, so it overexposed to blue/white).

Another factor at play here is relatively low resolution. If you looked a 100% closeups, you'd see a bit more blur.

A while back, I went to the Crystal Bridges art museum in Bentonville, AK. It's a big, beautiful art museum built by the Walton family, presumably because they needed to dodge some taxes on the Scrooge-McDuck-esque pile of loot they get from being the heirs to Wal Mart.

ANYWAY. When I was there, they had a special temporary exhibit of Georgia O'Keefe's work. Since the Walton family is pretty Conservative, it was kind of amusing how they completely avoided the elephant vagina in the room that is O'Keefe's style. Like there were information placards about O'Keefe in the exhibit and they all just talked about how she was a straightforward painter of flowers who had no subtext to her work, all next to paintings that I could've jerked off to if there weren't security cameras.

It was pretty funny.

I had to clone them in photoshop. We had enough to fill the bottom of a small kids plastic swimming pool on sawhorses with a hole cut in the middle for her to come up out of. They are only 2-3 bottles deep and barely past her arm/hair.

Thank you. Luckily, because it's such a naturally busy scene, the seams blend in very easily. I took 6 shots of the bottles without her in them, with each one being all mixed up and shook up from the previous to keep it random, so that I could part it together to make this.
