Merry Christmas, /p/, I present to you my gift to the board for putting up with my shit all year.
The time of the Great Sugar Thread is upon us. There will probably be a couple reposts I'm sure, it is a Sugar thread after all it's almost expected at this point. The last 6 months have been a blur and I can barely remember what loads I picked up or where I have been let alone what I posted on an anonymous image board.

Same reason /g/ hates Apple. Not saying it's right or wrong but the mentality is the same
>>2724370
It's not the camera, it is their owners.
Worst circlejerking collective in the photography world.
I dislike them because they're on some weird pedestal that I never understood. You can do street photography with ANY camera. Leicas and rangefinders don't offer any kind of advantage. It is gear whoring at its finest.
Are there any more photos that resemble Renaissance artwork? Either purposely or otherwise. This photo is one of my favorites of all time, it reminds me of La Pietà by Michelangelo

I'm thinking about getting into b&w film.
What are the differences between Kodak Tri-X and T-Max?
Or does anyone prefer Ilford b&w film?
Thanks, /p/

Tri-X is GOAT BW film. Ridiculous exposure latitude even Kodak themselves says you can push it to 1600. Mega contrast.
Tmax has finer grain and not as much latitude. You can still blow your exposure by quite a bit though. Tmax 100 is nice for long exposure or landscape.
Learn on Tri-X though, the large exposure latitude will let you fuck up quite a bit and still have a workable image.
T-Max is a modern tabular grain film (as are Ilford Delta & Fuji Neopan) while Tri-X is an older non tabular grain film. So T-Max will theoretically provide more detail (I think Kodak still claim it as the world's finest grain b&w film) while Tri-X will give you a more 'traditional' look.
Tri-X @ 1600 is indeed love (picrelated) & supposedly it's more forgiving to bad development than T-Max, which is why I started with it.
Don't rely on us to make the choice for you though - buy a few different rolls & decide for yourself which you like the most & fits your process best.

That's strange coming from someone so eager to make literal life-and-death choices for people.
Maybe you learned something after all.

Find the most expensive return postage and get your money back whilst fucking over the untrustworthy seller.
This is why i try and buy my stuff from japan, if you get fucked over you get to usually keep the item because the return recorded postage on a camera is about £60. No one wants to pay that for broken camera stuff.
Never return an item not with recorded post.

>After putting it through its paces, I discovered a problem with the fastest shutter speed setting. The first shot at the fastest shutter speed works as expected, but the film advance stop stops working so that I can just keep winding and winding. At the same time, when I wind to the next frame, the shutter automatically fires. So, I can actually use this to take several rapid-fire shots in a row without pressing the shutter release button. I just wind to the next frame and it automatically shoots the next picture. I can fix this by switching back to a slower shutter speed. When I do this, I can slowly advance the film and the shutter will stay open in “B” mode until I wind all the way to the next frame.
You're probably just retarded.
I'm glad you wasted two rolls of film, you don't deserve happiness.
>implying loading a russian half-frame camera has ever NOT been a waste of film
Which camera? My Agat 18K developed a sticking problem and I fixed it by taking the camera apart. The problem was that the spring inside the winder knob had gotten crooked because I wound it too hard/far when advancing the film. Was an easy enough fix.
Is anyone familiar with copyright law regarding Facebook? I shared photos on my personal photo page, as well as another group page.
(I also have these photos on Flickr with specific usage policy that they cannot be used for commercial use without my permission).
A major news station here used 6 of these photos in a 6 minute long news story. They conveniently put their segment logo over my watermark, and did not credit me in any way.
I work my butt off taking pictures and doing shoots, I don't think this is ok.
I found a PDF on Facebook photo copyright law/fair usage... but I'm no lawyer.

We have a worst lens thread, but I want to know what the worst camera you've ever used is. Can be film or digital.
For me it was this piece of shit:
http://www.amazon.com/Vivitar-2-1-MP-Camera-V25-BLACK/dp/B004531T4Y
I bought it a few years ago at a walmart out of curiosity because it was the cheapest digital camera they had. Even in bright sunlight it can't take a usable photo. pic related is in "low resolution mode." The high res photos don't look much better.
It also stored all photos in internal memory, so if the batteries died all your photos were gone. And it came with a proprietary usb connector to boot, so if you lost that, you'd have no way to transfer photos from the camera, not that you'd want to.
>>2728378
'Worst' one I ever owned was a cheap Nikon p&s that literally lasted about five minutes out of the box.
my friend had a Sony CyberShot he got for christmas and I held it and felt the buttons and shit, and oh my god it's so horrendous. I can't stress it enough. And the pictures are like a cellphone from 2005.

Whats a good 35mm film scanner /p/?
Dedicated 35mm Scanners like the Plustek 8100 or 8200i.
Do not get a flatbed as they tend to provide worse results.

You couldn't possibly have asked the gear thread, or one of several film related threads that already existed, could you
Im going to do a photo project in the mountains. It will be shot on film. Now, what is the better option, color negative or slide? Ive seen lots of color neg documentary work, specially portra, it behaves pretty well and its management of contrast is outstanding. But is a look we all know by this time, its pretty predictable id say. Will slide film be a safe aproach? I love the slide look, but i dont know if itll be able to manage the changing light conditions.
pic unrelated.
>>2727966
Pic is gorgeous.
Slide would be my choice. Also, slide is not finicky as it sounds. If you know how to meter, it'll be alright. Of course, in a contrasty situation, either will something blow out (looks bad) or something will be cast in shadow (usually looks good); so follow the rules of thumb.
Colors, especially greens and blues, will have much much more depth on slide film.
>>2727966
I'd rather shoot provia over a color film, and let the shadows fall into black, any day of the week.
You might be surprised about how much details you can pull out of the shadows of slide film.
