My buddy posted an original drawing on /x/ and he sent it to me, asking me to turn it into a picture on the computer. He drew it in a notebook and I turned it into this. I'm pretty proud of the both of us. Any comments? I'll post his drawing in his notebook below.

Earlier this year I was memed hard by /p/ since I bought a film camera.
I believe I have wasted more money instead of going digital. I was also memed by Ken Cockwell by buying Fuji Velvia not realizing that my local lab doesn't develop slide film.

Anyhow, there's a bunch of $1 expired colored film here. I want to shoot black & white but I cannot afford the $5+ roll per film. Can I just shoot expired colored film and convert them to B&W digitally like in Photoshop?

Did I say I don't? I was just saying I was memed by some here who said film is cheaper.

>you can, but ill look ass. literal ass.

Even if I edit it to make it look good digitally? I cannot find any B&W film that costs less than $3.
>>
>>2732492
You can develop colour film as black&white film, use same developers, times, process. Film masking makes it an ass to enlarge but it scans just fine. So yeah, every roll of colour film you have is also a roll of grainy bw film.
If you're stingy about lab development there's always caffenol C, the budget homemade developer. What I'd give for a hoard of expired colour film for $1 a pop.

Serious question;

Why would anyone bother with digital crop sensor cameras when fool-frame is as accessible and as affordable as ever (hint: important words for you medium and large format dorks)?

Don't say "I can afford the lenses!". There are fool-frame bodies that natively support crop lenses and if not, then you can get a cheap extension tube to mount it on there anyway.

Because full-frame cameras cost significantly more? What's so hard to understand about that?

I find it hard to believe that that is actually a serious question.

>Because full-frame cameras cost significantly more
I hope you're not just pretending to be retarded. I think you missed the whole "fool-frame is as accessible and as affordable as ever" part.

You can get a Canon EOS 6D or Nikon D600 for less than $1,000 or if you want to go cheap, a Sony a7 for $700 or less.

And yes, this is a serious question.

It came out beautifully with no hint of pixelation. Could maybe go another 5-10 inches

When shooting the content present in a mirror, what the fuck distance should i tell the lens the subject is?

The distance between the camera and the surface of the mirror?
The distance the camera would have to the subject judged by the size of the subject?
The literal sum of me-to-mirror-to subject distance?

Just pondering this is literally shutting down my internal organs, pls help.

It's the distance from the film plane to the subject. For a Hassie, that's the very front of your film back. For most cameras, it's a little circle with a straight line through it.

Questions that dont deserve their own thread.

I'll start.

Lightroom 6 to Photoshop CC 2015

Using edit in Photoshop from Lightroom to open the raw file in PS... it bypasses the Photoshop Camera RAW dialogue box.. I dont want that, I want to use the Camera RAW in PS that normally pops up,

I dislike the camera raw interface in Lightroom, especially for single files, though I want to keep them stacked in Lightroom for organisation.

How do I change it so that Edit in Photoshop still brings up the RAW dialogue box?

use bridge instead of lightroom
lightroom is literally just camera raw + bridge

Quick question. If I don't have a tripod, and the feature isn't baked into the camera, am I fucked for HDR photography? I presume so, but a man with his first camera can dream.

you can hand hold and use Photoshop to automatically align, but the result will be cropped from your original composition, randomly.

Look at the eyes. Small, single catchlight tells you this was probably a one-light setup. The density of the shadow edges (they're crisp) tells you the light was either very close or very small (maybe a speedlight.) Color of the light says it was gelled. Angle of the shadow on her face/chin/nose tells you it was above her head and pointed down roughly 45 degrees, camera left. Backlight looks like a tight angle reflector with a grid. Maybe a snoot, though i'd try a reflector first and narrow with tighter grids before going to a snoot.

Just keep looking at lighting setups. Do lots of setups and take selfies. keep trying to reverse engineer other people's lighting setups.

I recently have found a person on 500px called Ichiro Murata. I thought I'd let you guys know about this person since his work is... Unique. I can't really describe it in any other way. He has a way of photographing buildings that just intrigues me.
This is his profile: https://500px.com/ichiromurata

I am also wondering if you guys know any people with a similar style.
I'm interested in how to do this as well. I tried, but failed miserably.

I suspect he may be shooting spherical panoramas, then playing around with the projection until it looks cool. Picrelated is one of mine using that technique.

That makes a lot of sense, I should try it myself sometimes.
What kind of software did you use to Post Process that? In terms of the playing around with the projection I mean.

I use PTGui (paid), but I assume the same can probably be achieved with Hugin (free).

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
