I'm an amateur photog and I've never really shot people before, but recently I was talking to one of my qt friends who happens to be an actual runway model and she agreed to go on a photo shoot with me. we have been friends for maybe a year now, but like not close friends. the problem is I don't really know what to do or expect. how do I make her comfortable is probably the most important thing right now. but also how long is a typical shoot? and how do I get started when I meet her? what are somethings I should prepare? feel free give give any top tips
pic kind of related: it one of my better works as photographer

She's agreed to spend some time with you, be grateful for that. Just be yourself, take some pictures, have fun and see how it turns out. If you try to turn it into a serious shoot with specific goals it will turn out rubbish.
If she's a model say something like "I don't usually shoot fashion or models or any of that kind of stuff so you have to show ME what to do"
>>2756608
Just go out with her and have fun, maybe few hours before the sunset so you'll have some 2deep4u lighting to work with and you'll know when to stop = can't see shit.

Any other video bros out there?
I feel like a I need to work on framing a bit more. I'm a bit disappointed with the car timelapse as the front of the grill is cut off. Otherwise the hedge clip I'm okay with, maybe the grading is a bit weird. What do you guys think? Fake vignetting in the birds one is a bit shit.
I want to get into making short documentaries, but not sure where to start with video. I have a D7100.
Going to be in Frankfurt for 5-6 hours (long ass connecting flight to Japan), so thought I'd check the city out.
Anyone been/live there? What's the best area(s) to take some photos?
no frankfurters or anyone who has been?
the airport is quite far away from the city and the city itself is dirty, ugly and full of assholes.
>>2755694
I wouldn't recommend straying too far from your airport to be honest. Typically you need about 2 hours to catch a flight properly after checking bags, going through security, and boarding the plane (could be less since you're connecting but still).
Especially since you'll be in a city you don't know and you could easily get lost on mass transit, or get stranded due to some sort of delay, or robbed. By all means wander around a short distance but you're probably not going to get in a nice trip/take any meaningful shots during a layover.

Finally got internet access. We went from Canberra to BM to Sydney. Pretty okay trip, not bad at all. Way too cloudy though, and Sydney just had a piss down, a couple of thunderstorms.
Dumping pics, cc if you want or just a casual feedback is all good too. I'm only beginning colour grading so don't be too harsh on that. I could've changed it but I got lazy. Too much food.

I got this camera today, and it has some problems.
1. The viewfinder only displays white, and
2. The camera will no longer work. Earlier today it was working fine, except for the viewfinder, but now it won't turn on at all. What can I do to fix this? Is it a battery problem or a camera problem?

VHS is deprecated as fuck And not cool deprecated like 35mm film and vinyl, I mean like everyone stopped using it 10+ years ago for a reason. It's like how no one uses cassette tapes but people still use vinyl.

VHS isn't dead. but I agree. use your phone. it will be as good or better. there are tutorials on youtube that can help.
The Revenant is a perfect example of why photographers should let themselves be inspired by movies, not random people on /b/, not your college photography teacher, not magazines, not "prominents on the interwebs". Also, it is a perfect example of how white balance can be used for artistic effect, unlike what many /p/eople here say ("muh grey cards, muh corrections").

thanks but no thanks, buddy.
Also, if someone could tell me how they managed to get this shot in that weather with such a narrow aperture at that speed, that would be great.
So i got a nikon coolpix l340, and I want to take some cool pictures with a few of my lego figures. The problem is, I cant take closeup photos without them being blurry. I have next to no camera experience, so any help will be appreciated. (The pic is a pic I was able to take with my PHONE.)

Hey /v/, what's the best solution for digital storage and back ups?
I current run a single 1TB HDD internally for storage and an external 1TB HDD for 1:1 back-ups. Thinking of creating an off-site/cloud storage for triple redundancy but not sure exactly on how to do this (NAS, Google Drive? etc.)
I want to know how you guys deal with this stuff.

Read the sticky.
1000 pixels on the longest side
Put individual pics in the relevant snapshit/b&w/film/recent pics thred.
In focus, right shutter speed, maybe a little under exposed, boring background.
>>2753330
uninteresting. tell this to yourself, would you hang this in your room, are you proud of this?
i could just go to my tap turn it on, enable flash on my camera and take the exact same picture.
What made you think this was a good idea? It's okay to test out the camera with this pic, but seeking critique on absolutely nothing is pretty dumb.
Shoot more interesting things would be my advice.
>>2753852
Building on this, it seems to me that the effect you were really trying to get was the metallic appearance of the water coming out of the tap like that. However, the fact that the tap is there, and the sink, etc as well, means that it is really obvious that it's just a tap with some water coming out.
Consider using a watering can against a white or black background with off-camera flash.
What are some good pics to practice clone stamping and colour correction on?
Pic related. There was an old man in the foreground and the colours were a bit washed before.

I'm looking for a slim everyday "man bag" that I can also use to carry an a7s+lens and maybe another prime, nothing more,
Priority is small size, easy fast and kinda stealth access (fuck velcro) while still being relatively safe when closed and a look that doesn't scream "camera bag". Don't care about water-proof materials, not in my country.
I saw a shitload of bags on amazon but they're all like this:
a: big camera bags, they all obviously have "I have a camera inside, pls steal it" written on them. I may seem a bit too paranoid but it's nice to not think about this issue and I don't want to drag too much attention with a "photographer" look if you know what I mean.
b: ok messenger bags with velcro everywhere that I personally hate, too noisy. Also most of them don't seem too safe because they don't have a zipper, just a big flap with velcro that covers the bag. I may be able to modify them but I'll leave that as a last option.
c. very small camera-cases shaped like boxes, too small, not very practical and they're obviously...camera cases. I need something like a normal man bag.
Pic is the closest thing to the bag I'd like that I've been able to find (Cullmann madrid maxima 230), but If you people know something similar with a zipper it may be a lot better.
Another candidate is the Lowepro Event Messenger 150 and it also solve the velcro problem, probably better material than the cullmann, it's a bit fugly tho
If I won't find anything better I will probably go for pic related or the lowepro, unless you guys have something better to suggest
Also I fucked up the subject. Anyway this is the other bag, maybe the 100 version, smaller than the 150, is better for me.
Check out the Ona Bowery, looks a tad gay but it's really small while still having enough room for a camera and a couple of lenses.
>>2756738
>Ona Bowery
Yeah it looks less gay depending on the colour, I like it. Problem is it's definitely out of my budget, the bags I posted cost less than 50$.
