How do I do this crumpled/faded look in CS5? Pic related.
So I bought a Chaika 2 without a shutter curtain. Guess I can't use it for shooting right? lol
At least it was only 5 bucks and came with a broken Industar 69
>>2844441
>Industar 69
you could probably use that on a MFT camera
Hi! I came across this picture and I'm wondering what kind of filter the photographer have used? I do know that the photo has been in either Photoshop or in Lightroom but I still wonder how I get this kind of effect.

Bright light, over exposure, tan girls. Maybe a bit of vibrance added in post.

Bored late at night here, wondering what everyone has done to get their names/photos out there. I know there are so so so many 'photographers' out there. Most of them just starting out with their Iphones or posting selfies with their DSLR posting about "OMG just became a photographer!" editing them with instagram filters.
I've been passionate about photography for many years and only recently gathered the funds to start buying my own gear instead of borrowing. Has always been an expensive hobby but would love to get my name out there. Would love to hear any story of how an amateur photographer became known to the public.

>Most of them just starting out with their Iphones or posting selfies with their DSLR posting about "OMG just became a photographer!" editing them with instagram filters.
You're one of them. Have some self-awareness. Go do something else.
I actually sell camera equipment as well as take photos so when I'm selling I usually use my photos as a demonstration for certain lenses or bodies. Then sometimes I get asked if I could do a photo shoot for that person. Then every so often one person tells another person and before you know it you've got a stream of customers both looking to buy gear and customers looking to have a shoot done. It's especially nice during wedding and graduation season because people will come in to buy a camera for their kid as a gift and end up buying it as well as wanting a senior photo shoot done.
>>2857296
Go meet people. Become a positive part of the community. Produce photos that people remember/like more than the others around them. Have something unique or interesting to say.
>that feel when you emigrated with the grand idea of becoming a self employed photographer/assistant and ended up back working in IT
How did eric kim do it? I feel like I'll never become locally successful
>>2857238
I don't follow him but from what I've seen he mainly finances himself through workshops. He manages to fill these because he has a personality that people like and I think because the directness of his photographs is something people want to learn.
From what I've seen art jobs are just super competetive. You need to have a style that people like and you need to be able to sell yourself really well.
>>2857238
If you want people to pay you for your photos, then you have to take photos that the people around you will pay for. That's usually providing a service, like shooting a wedding, engagement, senior photos, birthdays, etc. If you want to make money with your knowledge, you have to take your time to give it to people through workshops or something online.
Nobody is going to pay you for photos of flowers and sticks and strangers' backs on the street, and why would they? What are they going to do with that?

I'm a scientist and I've made peace with the fact I'll never make money from my hobby, it'll remain just that.

it must be if you found it on the internet

You forgot to make fun of filmfags and the rich bastards that shoot digital Leicas and Phase Ones.
I just inherited a Pentax 'program plus' from my mom. She never used it and gave it to me a week ago. I just got it up and running, and am thinking about getting into photography as a small hobby maybe. Any tips or pointers I should know?
Also, is there anyone else who is just starting out?
The first place you go to for tips or pointers is 4chan? You need a lot more help than just that.
Just go out there and shoot.
Don't copy others and develop your own style.

Exposure triangle, diffraction, depth of field
These are the things you have to look up on the internet. Develop your film at a lab and ask for the negatives.

The problem isn't consumption, the problem is overpopulation.
>>2854786
you need proles to make goods.
>>2854786
What does overpopulation mean?
Maybe that more products need to be produced?
But then again, there is an overabundance of
products.
So, the main problem is even distribution.
Right now, as in all of human history, distribution
of goods is all but uneven. Systemically uneven.
The production unit in pic related is not meant to
serve people equally, it is made to produce profit.
Just got out of surgery, sold some vital organs to be able to afford this setup. Now i can finally take those family portraits i've always wanted.
but in all seriousness, why the fuck would anyone drop this much money on this shit
Because they probably don't own it unless they are very rich. You would either rent the camera when you needed it for a shoot or it would belong to the agency/company which you work for and which would provide it to you.
And that lens is a cine lens, it's not for photographers it's for movie studios which rent those lenses from rental companies that stock and maintain all that type of equipment.
And why don't you just shitpost in the gear thread instead of making more threads?
>>2854117
"people" don't buy them. Major studios, agencies, and rental houses buy them and then spend the rest of the gear's lifetime renting them out to artists who will use them.
The fujinon is a cinema lens, so it would be a rental house or a movie studio that would buy a lens like that and make its money back very quickly.
The hasselblad is a top-tier commercial product that will deliver unrivaled images and blows anything you'd produce from your shitty consumer dslr out of the water. It's something you'd use to shoot a 4 million dollar ad campaign, not the senior photos down in Fuxacousin, Alabama.
I hate myself for starting this thread, but need some advice. I need a wide to normal zoom. Canon fag, have tok 11-16, 70-200f4, 18-55kit lens, 100l. Had a 17-85 that I absolutely hated, so I sold it. I'm need of something to replace this and the 18-55, as that feels cheap and horrible.
Don't care about brand. Constant aperture very much preferred, internal focus preferred, internal zoom would be great but unlikely. Obviously good image quality is necessary.
Use the gear thread you stupid prick

Hey /p/, what do you think about the idea of a device that has the ability to turn any 35mm film camera into a digital camera?

The creator is either completely clueless or a scammer.
>>2853521
I think it's complex, technologically very difficult, and a final product is necessarily less easy to use, and worse quality, than just getting a digital camera. Especially with a lot of "retro styled" digital cameras coming out these days.
Timing the shutter with the sensor, battery life, space constraints, heat dissipation, the necessity to make a different cartridge for different shaped/designed bodies, etc.
