Chien-Chi Chang, a Magnum Photographer who lives in Austria now (Middle book) was also there and did a presentation on some of the stuff he's done in the recent past. Also did a book signing afterwards, which is always fun to watch because he takes 5-10 minutes for each book and really personalizes it with a lot of stamps etc.

Hey /p/, I want to contact some model agencies to see if I can schedule any test shoots with their girls. But I need help choosing what agencies. Do you guys know some smaller agencies in either NYC or Tokyo that I could contact?
>>2864330
Have you considered googling "Modeling agencies NYC"?
Also,
>NYC or Tokyo
That's quite a commute.
>>2864355
To hire a model, you pay money.
To do test shooting, they pay you money because you're taking photos to test and season their new models. and fill their portfolios. To do test shooting, you need a strong consistent portfolio.
>>2864361
It depends on the job, and how "semi famous" is "semi famous"? If it's a one hour shoot 15 minutes from her location, wearing standard clothes with minor hair and makeup, for a shoot that will get her good exposure? Anywhere from $200 to $1000. If it's a new guy shooting for his portfolio from three states away, you bet it's going to be prohibitively expensive, as it's a waste of everyone's time but yours, and chances are good that if she's semi-famous, she has actual campaigns asking to work with her..
It's storm season now, post pics you took of lightning, storm clouds etc...

nice capture
Post here your favourite color photographs, photos that you think best use color, have a great range or combination of color and tones.
I've recently been looking through Saul Leiter's stuff after watching Todd Haynes' 'Carol' and it got me thinking about this.
Saul Leiter is definitely one of my favourites, the only other colour work that's coming to mind for me right now is Jeff Mermelstein or Joel Meyerowitz. Mermelstein isn't really famous for his work being in colour, he could shoot in black and white and his photos would have a lot of the same character.
Gregory Crewdson.
Facebook and Instagram are too friendly and I have too many shots for the RPT
Dumping 17 of my most recent shots, mish mash of various genres. Looking for very harsh, but very constructive critique. I want to improve.

What are your thoughts on this accidental series?
https://imgur.com/a/iQLsH
The back story is the photographer found a very expired roll of film and had no idea whether it was already shot or not. So he put it through the camera and got these images out.
The copy is here
"My girlfriend found a 35mm, 400 ISO, 24 exposures, Fuji color roll of film, with no canister at Goodwill. She said, “Don’t expect too much: I’m not sure if the film is expired or has already been shot.”
The next Sunday I loaded my camera, with the “found” film, and went on a walk in the woods. I walked around shooting brush and trees and foliage and leaves and the ground and plants and clouds. I returned from my walk feeling refreshed but slightly disappointed by my boring shots.
A week later I discovered that my film had already been shot over images depicting the last days of an elderly man’s life, spent with his family. The images are hauntingly morbid and personal and strange. In the foreground there is faded foliage and trees and the sky, while the background depicts a dying man’s house and what seems to be the final days he spent with his family.
For 3 months I haven’t known what to do with these photos, I didn’t know if it was wrong to share them and I didn’t exactly understood why I was so intrigued. While there are many narratives that I have created in my head about this man and his family, I don’t even know his name.
I grapple with why these photos, commemorating shared moments of this family, make me feel suspicious, confused, and withdrawn. "

>I grapple with why these photos, commemorating shared moments of this family, make me feel suspicious, confused, and withdrawn. "
Grammar issues aside I think this guy is an ass looking for his five minutes of internet viral fame.
He just tried to give an atmosphere of creepiness to a regular moment in a loving family that probably preferred to turn the last days of an elder man into a happy time instead of a complete drama.

Yet you are still posting on 4chan instead of going outside to shoot.
Welcome to /p/, you belong here.
I have family involved in realestate and after reviewing their websites, typographical and photographic assets and skills I've decided to help out because they fucking suck.
Can I get a suggestion for a first time drone buyer?
Browse forums, watch youtube videos; build your own.
its fuck-tons cheaper.
>>2863321
Yo ive been around real estate photoshoots and ive done videography for realtors
Dont know too much about drones, for photo the photographer might have used a DJI, im unsure though
However if your doing video heres a big tip. For inside make sure to get a slider, put your dslr on that and its professional videos easy mode.
when the photographer was shooting the inside of houses, he used 2 flashes on tripod with wireless switches synced to the camera. You meter the camera for outside light such as windows and the flash lights the room to match. Also a buzzy trick i saw him use was his dslr on top of a massive exntendable arm, sort of like a pool net pole, photos of property look so much better from height

Gopro and learn to build one for 1/3-1/5th of the price of a Phantom.
You're welcome.
My girlfriend recently bought herself a Nikon 1 J5.
She and I are aware that it's not the best camera to start with serious photography per se, but she bought it and she loves it.
I want to buy her a lens for it but I am not too sure as to what I should be looking at.
Any help, /p/?

>Any help, /p/?
Don't waste your money on anything right now because neither you nor her know what the fuck you want or need.
A new lens is not going to make her a better photographer. It's not going to do jack shit.
Take whatever money you were going to spend and use it to take her out on a nice date. Go all out. Have fun. Eat was great food. Go to a show and get the best fucking tickets in the house. Get a suite in the best hotel in town for a night. Just fucking do something. You'll remember it a lot more and enjoy it a lot more than some useless fucking piece of equipment that you don't need and wouldn't know how to use.
>>2863114
>I want to buy her a lens for it but I am not too sure as to what I should be looking at.
Then you don't need anything. It's simple: if you weren't getting the shots you wanted because you need some equipment, you would know exactly what to buy. Put that money in a savings account and use it when you actually need something.
>Eat was great food
what the fuck mate
Is the following camera and lens good for photogrammetry ? Is anyone here even into this ?
Canon EOS 1300D
EF-S 18-55mm IS
Is this good for photogrammetry ?
[EXIF data available. Click here to show/hide.]
Camera-Specific Properties: Camera Software Greenshot Image-Specific Properties:
No, you need a prime lens. It makes no sense to purchase a zoom lens for photogrammetry, especially one without a lock. Zoom lenses have precisely the wrong properties for photogrammetry, and cause processing to fail if you change the focal length accidentally, as the software has to assume that the focal length is constant in order to perform the coordinate mapping.
Nothing particularily wrong with the camera, but there's better ones to buy with photogrammetry in mind.
The best lenses for photogrammetry are primes between 35-65mm equivalent, (So on APS-C like the cannon you suggested, get something like the the EF-S 24mm, a very, very good lens.
Because generally you want to have the camera at a lower stop like f4-8, as short depth of field is poison to photogrammetry, it doesn't matter what the maximum aperture is. In fact, the best possible lens is a stabilized prime to allow you to handhold in worse lighting while still using the very necessary small aperture.
If you're willing to buy second hand, there are many many better choices.
Generally dynamic range and high iso isn't a huge issue, so buying canon is actually OK in this context. I would absolutely recommend that you shoot raw though. Also, you must not use auto settings. You have to use manual so the camera doesn't change exposure while you're taking your shots.
So yeah, I'll give good combinations per manufacturer / setup
Canon APS-C: anything 550D+ or 60D+ have sufficient detail for most photogrammetry, then use EF-S 24mm which is very cheap and has very good characteristics for photogrammetry.
Canon FF: Get a used 6D + EF 35mm f2.0 IS OR EF 40mm f2.8 which is cheaper and super sharp from the get go.
You can look up the Nikon equivalents if you want.
I wouldn't reccomend Fuji, I have the X-e2 and I long for when I did photogrammetry with my canon. If you do choose mirrorless, the X-e2 is the best choice for photogrammetry, and then get the Fujinon 27mm f2.8, or get the Sony A7 second hand with whatever lens is sharp in the range, but not a zoom.
You can do photogrammetry with a fucking cell phone. Just make sure the lighting and white balance doesn't change. Manual mode.
How do you achieve pictures like these? I don't see people taking pictures like these anymore, for the most part.
I know the clothes, etc. give it away, but, apart from that, there's just something very unique to that period's style, but I can't quite put my finger on it. What is it exactly?
I know I could shoot in b/w and it would look nothing like this. There's like some sort of glow or blur or something about the lighting.
Am I onto something here or just being retarded?
