Shooting directly in BW vs shooting with colours.
Pros and cons
>>2871437
There is no pro. Now delete the thread.
>>2871439
The might be some. Sometimes you don't know what could come good in BW because sometimes you can't see if some colours would blend together once in BW so this give you new chances of composition.
It would also be more relaxing and give you more time to think on the composition rather then looking at the colours and maybe wondering what colours could ruin your shot
>>2871445
bullshit. even my oly e500 which is 10 yrs old saves the color information in the raw picture but displays bw in the regarding mode. you cant even enforce that the color is not saved, because it is so stupid that developers wouldn't even enable an option for it.
other thing is a bw sensor, which might have pros due to no need for debayering etc. but this also questionable.
thread is redundant.
Taking a family trip to Disney for 7 days next month. I want to roll light. I'm thinking about bringing my 5D3, 17-40mm L and 35mm 1.8 VC and nothing else. What would be your preference for an amusement park setup?
Pentax 645Z, 55mm/2.8 lens, and 150mm f/2.8.
Em5, 17 1.8, 40-150 2.8
You just need a tripod, my friend ;);))
Hi guys,
I am making a video with a bunch of still photos that i took, i have around 1000 pics. the total duration of the video must be around 3 minutes.
The question is... how the fuck i can set up sony vegas to show 6 photos each second (6 fps)...
My guess would be to search for a timelapse feature.
You want to go into the preferences menu, and under editing change the 'still image length'. Changing it to something like 0,2 in 29,970fps would get you 6 frames every second... Unfortunately this method only works for NEW images that you add to the timeline, not to adjust ones that are already on it. For that you'll need a plugin like Vegasaur which allows you to edit multiple events on the timeline at a time using 'Quick Properties'...

Are there better clamps I mean? Like one with 2 clamps or something?

Alright, /p/. Let's see if we can go three-for-three. The last two Fridays here, we've actually had a pretty decent discussions about ::gasp:: photography. We looked at a modern portrait of Queen Elizabeth by Annie Leibovitz. And we looked at a 1970's suburban landscape by Stephen Shore. In both threads, we've had really great discussions about the photos themselves, about the photographers, and about comparable, complimentary, and contrasting works.
This week, let's take a look at a one of shots from Thomas Struth's "Pergamon Museum" series. A couple of weeks back, we used one of his photos as a comparison to the very different Leibovitz shot. So, this week, let's dig in to one of his photos.
What do you think of it? Do you love it? Do you hate it?
Most importantly, why do you love it? Why do you hate it? What technical elements do you enjoy? What technical elements do you hate? What are your thoughts on the content? What about the composition? What do you think of the lighting? What about the development/printing?
Now, maybe you hate Thomas Struth. Maybe you love him. That's not what this thread is about. If you want to discuss this photo compared to other work of his, that's certainly acceptable, but this is not a thread for generalized love/bashing. Let's actually discuss, you know, the photograph.
And, as always, ignore the trolls, and don't fall in to personality wars. Y'all did great the first week. Last week, there was a little bit of the /p/ bickering seeping into the thread, but by and large y'all were awesome. Let's keep it up.
And, as an aside: You may be wondering why I've picked any of these particular photos so far. Well, the criteria certainly isn't scientific or objective. My goal is to pick a photographer who is known on /p/, but who is not discussed ad nauseam. My goal is also to pick a photo and photographer who probably has both fans and critics here. Finally, my goal is to pick something that we probably haven't all analyzed to death. I don't want to pick something that everybody will automatically love or everybody will automatically hate. But, on the flip side, I don't want it to be something that is so obscure or difficult that it won't actually garner discussion. Like I said, it's not a science.

I don't like how he cut off the top of that structure in the middle. Same for the guy's foot in the foreground. It just makes it look sloppy. Otherwise has nice balance though.
I feel like the composition of the people gives it balance. They form a nice grid which plays off of the columns and the angles of the room. Your eye is led around the room nicely.
I agree with >>2869589 that I with the top of the columns in the center wasn't cut off. Same for the guy's shoe. I also don't like the security guard so close to the left side of the frame.
The light is nice, but that's more a product of the building than anything the photographer did.
I'm sure he had some deep, artsy message about taking a shot of people looking at history things in a museum, but it's not super obvious to me.

I'm in the market for a Nikon D5500 and I've been looking all over the place to buy it for 600-700 dollars. I wont be able to buy it from any retailer like Best Buy or Nikon's website, as they sell for around 900 there, so I've gone on a hunt through the internet.
I have a few candidates so far and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Apologies for any of my ignorance when discussing this topic/if this isn't really allowed on the board:
I first was wondering whether I should buy from DigiRev, as I have seen their videos and feel like I can trust them. I did a bit of research and found out they were more or less grey market.. So the warranty would be basically non-existent.
Then I looked through ebay and found a few sellers with amazingly high review rates and lots of products sold, plus they were offering good deals. I'm still unsure to this as... you know, Ebay.
Finally, I read up and saw that buying refurbished isn't all too bad.. So I think my safest bet is to buy from an amazon seller...
What do you guys think?
Could you use the gear thread for this please

Thank god, dude. You saved /p/!
Have a free bump. :)
OP, buy your shit from Adorama, Amazon or B&H. Best Buy will price match. Cameras are a very narrow margin item and almost never go on sale, so if it seems like it's a ridiculously good deal, it's either a scam or an warranty-less grey market camera.

Don't be that guy, OP. Just scan the negatives to your computer and toss 'em out when you're done.
>>2870766
That looks like a slide mounted negative set.
Unless you're shooting with positive B&W, you don't mount negatives.
You need to cut your roll of negatives in to groups of 6 and put them into a special sleeve folder
You're supposed to mount slides that way, they're positive photos that get mounted that way so you can put them in a projector to display them. If you are shooting slides and getting them developed at a lab then the lab would give them to you already mounted that way.
I assume you're shooting negative film, though. That's not mounted because projecting a negative would be silly because all the colors would be inverted. You're supposed to cut your film into strips of 6 to fit the roll into a sleeve like pic related. That keeps them safe and protected and labeled, and then you can slide the negatives out when you need to use them for printing or scanning.
