First time posting my actual snapshits on here, outside a recent photo thread, but could I get some advice on how I should edit these or just general critique on them?
I'm still somewhat new to photography, only had my camera for a few months, and it's only a bridge camera because I'm a poorfag, so sorry for that.

I have a room opening with a skewed down roof. There are objects inside with sizes getting smaller as they go back of the room. There will be placed a huge optical glass to distort the view for an entire wall
What kind of lens shape should I use so the viewer will see all of them as if they are all the same size ?

pic related shows how a model railroad layout uses forced perspective and diorama effect to create different illusions of space, scale, and distance. I would encourage you to seek the answer to your question with your local model railroad community. Now fuck off back to /b/ where you belong, lad.
Taking apart my rokinon 8mm to see why the aperture ring is not responsive. Clearly something is not catching just not quite sure what's not catching. Could someone help?

Well it looks like the whole back of the lens fell off.
Theres your problem. Next.
Welcome to /p/
It's kinda impossible to tell what's wrong by looking at the photo, unless somebody happens to know this lens really well. I bet I could troubleshoot it if I actually had the lens in hand, but I don't see anything obvious from here.
The best advice I can give is to find the lever or whatever that most directly controls the aperture, and then work your way "out" from there, and see if you can find the pin, lever, or whatever that should be pushing the other components but isn't.

I'm looking for a DSLR with an audio input microphone with a wide angle lens or ability to get a wide angle lens.
I'm looking at the price being under $450 refurbished models are ok.
I want to record in 1080p and be able to attach my Rode microphone to it so audio quality is not important just great video with auto focus that isnt' super slow.
I do some lower light shots so i'd like something that will handle low light performance.
Is there anything that comes close to this? Doesn't have to be dslr if the camer has a decent enough microphone or if there is a way I can record quality audio on a separate device
>>2891785
Maybe look into old Sony A7
Fullframe and some (like the s-series) start at 600 bucks)
Fullframe is expensive
Otherwise, the Canon EOS ones are your best shot. Sony alpha6000 sometimes start at 500$ used.
The further down sensor you go, the harder it will be to get wide angle and have decent low-light performance.
For audio: get a Audio recorder. ZoomH1 or ASCAM DR-5 start at 70 bucks used. They have rather good recording on their own microphones. Plugin a decent 3,5mm microphone and they are good enough for almost anything except professional studio work.
>>2891788
Fullframe if i'm assuming that means all the cannon t5/t3/70d etc are full frame then i'd like full frame. No refurbs around black friday will shoot down that low?

Why make PHOTOS when you can MAKE a VIDEO???
4k 120 fps 4096 × 3112 16 megapixel more than enough to make good pictures .
Yes!! very expensive. but it lowered the price in a few years
the future is the video. Taking only one picture ... that's the past .
photographs of 5 seconds . with small movements . 3D videos that can be viewed on the Internet.
The shutter speed of the Flash is 1/125.
A video at 120 fps gives you the same effect of " freezing"
Long live to the video

So, I'm just going to post the pictures I've taken this year that I like. I'm curious what /p/ thinks of them. Also, some of them will be longer than 1000 pixels, it hurts a little to post panoramas that small.

Maybe you should have stayed gone.
Reminder: /p/ are not your peers.
They are a merely a collection of uneducated dilettantes who, for the best part, have no idea about art theory.
Most have never even attended a University lecture on a related subject, never mind actually cultivated years of hands on experience.
Their understanding of Photography, and by extension of art, come from popular media. They see hyped imagery on the internet, they see so-called "shocking" imagery on television. They stand, their minds fogged and blinkered, in art galleries, passing comments on artists they know little about.
Do not think that you can find worthwhile critique with these people. They can only see the surface of your intentions and compare it with the surface of another's. They have no greater understanding of your work - as they do not seek it. They sit in front of screens flicking through images which either stimulate their immediate interest, or are cast aside as inadequate. These people would cast aside a Van Gogh for being too creative, a Van Eyke for being too religious, or an Araki for being too pornographic.
Be creative, allow no ones shallow sniping to remove your vigour. Photography is a medium which has no best purpose - you must find its purpose.
Should I get the Fuji XT1 or the Sony A7ii?

Is this a good book for begginers to learn?
>>2894936
Probably not.
You could learn more with Youtube and a camera.
>>2894939
The /p/ of wiki has too many links and I dont know which one is the best to start off, which youtube channels do you recommend me?

There really isn't a best starter book.
If it's worth it's salt, it'll teach you technical basics, and once you have a good foundation there, you're only limited by your creativity.

So /p/, I've started doing a bit of photography lately and I'd like to get some criticism.
I've mostly been taking pics off my phone and editing with Instagram.
Here's a link to an Imgur album with some of my stuff http://imgur.com/a/Ky9F4
Can I get as much criticism as possible, along with tips for editing and stuff.

I'd lay it down a bit with the filters. They tend to make the image look noobish and tacky. What are you shooting with?
>>2894763
Too much negative space.

Shooting with my phone, G7LO1 Huawei if it matters. I agree, looking back on them they are a bit overdone
I am about to enter a local photo contest, and i was wondering if you guys think that i pass the line here.
This is the original.

cool shot anyway

Hopefully one of you technical photographers can help me understand this.
What I want you guys to focus on is the image at the top left. It's a photo taken of some trees/folage that came out looking distorted. A day later, the same view was captured on camera but it came out fine (image top right). While the first image looks like hair dangling in front of the camera, the bottom two images show us how unlikely that is.
This is /x/ related but I was wondering if any of you guys could explain what caused the top left image to show up that way without any obstruction placed in front of it.
It looks like a sun glare of some sort but why would the picture turn out to be at a lower resolution of what the camera is possible of obtaining and why was it darkened to such an extreme?
The phone used to take the photo was a :
BlackBerry Pearl 8130
For those wondering the story, the gist of it is a woman was out deer hunting and after the forest goes silent (completely silent) she sees a figure jumping across the trees with some sort of invisibility cloak on. It looked like the same type of invisibility the Predator used in the movie Predator. This doesn't seem too ludicrous considering that the government has experimented with invisibility but nonetheless, I'm curious to hear your explanations. Thank you.
It's lens flare. It's not caused by the hair, it's caused by all the scratches and oil that accumulate on your average cell phone camera.
>>2893884
