Those are called chromatic aberrations and you get them from shooting a lens wide open in harsh light. Stop the lens down or get some shade on your subject to stop it from happening
>>2911356
Also a good tip is try and remove them before you boost saturation, or you just brighten the purple fringing.
Your dog is sick and you need to bring it to the vet to get the purple shine checked
Human eyes can't see them but CMOS detects them
This is my first roll of film.

I found a bulk loader full of tri-x at the flea market, based on the area i found it i think it might be from the 60s or 70s, what should i shoot with it?
>>2911261
I can't imagine it would be worth shooting if it's really that old.
>>2911263
its worth a shot, and i if cant use it ill use it for teaching classes and demonstrations

What makes your retarded ass think that nobody has opened it in the intervening decades?
It will be roasted regardless, btw. Even 6yo TXP is noticeably deprecated.
Please help comprehend this shooting direction board i received as a sort of preperation for a photoshoot taking place this upcoming weekend. I've done similar works for this client but this time he is bringing in better models and I really want to make a good job. Today I will be rigging light, perhaps post some of it later if interest exist, see if you think its an alright setup.. ?

How would you prepare for this? Im using Canon 5D MIII, 24-105 4.0, three big softboxes, create soft big fresh light, slight cold WB. tiny inc contast and bit lowered sat, white backdrop. alot of different full body angles and then a few closeups. extras by the end in BW and experimented with natural light..?
Judging by his referal images, he wants a look similar to the clothing brand Cos.. clean lines modern chic.. hoping I can achieve similar results.. but a bit afraid I need to have studio light but also another department with natural light to mix a bit.. but same allround WB and seamless fresh/quality like images. What are your thoughts? Pic related those are the models
these are some of his referral images, the expression he seeks in the images.. would you say its mixed studio and natural light? i kind of feel that way and might establish two grounds..

>light cold WB. tiny inc contast and bit lowered sat
If you're shooting in raw, why wouldn't you just auto white balance and leave contrast and saturation on zero?
>extras by the end in BW
Are you saying you want to get black & white in camera instead of in post? I wish you didn't communicate in abbreviations and shorthand so I could understand you better.
How are you placing your softboxes?
Are you shooting in a studio or outside?
What trigger system do you use?
looks like a single light with subject close to the background, lighting technicalities is pretty simple
the hard part would be directing the models to convey what you client wants
So ive heard two things from many sources. Some say to look at famous photographers work to find your taste (some even say imitate them). Others say to not look at others work and just do what you think is interesting or good until you develop your own taste then you can appreciate others. Is there a general consensus on /o/ about this? whats your opinion

I look to movies and paintings. Occasionally photo books.

I think it's good to look at, an be inspired by, other peoples work. But it is not good to hero-worship, idolise and celebritify the photographer.
I cracked The bottom of my Canon 5D Mk. II by forgetting to put a rubber washer on the screw before mounting it on my Glide Gear 5050... Does anyone know how much this will cost for repairs from Canon?

Why do you need it repaired?
Patch it up yourself and don't fuck it up again - those things are made like tanks.

A few months ago some anon shared here on /p/ some publications and zines he had collected over time and scanned. I thought I would do the same with 1985's Portuguese Photography Anuary.
I didn't scan the hole thing because it's somewhat filled with ads (like the pentax and agfa ones, which made the book possible), just somethings I found interesting enough to share or give some "inspiration".
Hope you enjoy.

Literally nothing wrong with that camera
i bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZEISS-Jena-FLEKTOGON-4-20-20mm-m42-mount-nr-MINT-/302047267323?nma=true&si=9kHhk%252F0XExb%252BsFPLP5noKMyumq0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
did I pay too much? did I hastily spurge from the hype? would another lens have done the job? I bought it after reading everything I could about it and alternative lenses, but there was a lot of conflicting opinions. I was fearful that I'd be unsatisfied with a lesser cheaper lens, and figured it'd be easy to sell and get my money back if I ever wanted to. The only other lens I've got for film is the helios-44M, which I've been using for like 4 years now.
Anyone have an experience with this lens or opinions?
I was also considering the Mir-1 37/2.8. The SMC Takumar 28/3.5. I decided to go ultra wide and expensive.
I also want to fill the gap between 58 and 20mm. Any suggestions?

Mir 20 go for around 100bux
Flektogon copy
For the money you paid you can usually get a nikon 20 2.8 af-d
I paid $78 for my Flek 4/20. You'll find yourself lost in how much's on the viewfinder and your first day with it'll be one of amazed bafflement, after the Helios. You overpaid af and I sincerely wish you not finding yourself struggling to find uses for it.
The Mir 1Bs are cool inbetweens but awful optically - soft, hazy, even stopped down. I like mine but that's all you get, a 37mm focal. The fov's there for a poor man's 35mm prime, but you might be, eventually, disappointed. A good neutral inbetween for the flek and the helios if you won't pay another ridiculously exorbitant price for it. Think 40$ tops, internationally.
What does /p/ think about the Canon 5D MK IV?
New 30.4MP CMOS full-frame sensor with Dual Pixel AF
DCI 4K 30/24p video using Motion JPEG + 4K Frame Grab

Dual Pixel AF (sensitive to -4EV) for continuous Servo AF in stills (first for a full-frame Canon camera) and video
ISO 100-32000 (expandable to 102400)
7 fps continuous shooting
Dual Pixel Raw (image microadjustment, bokeh shift, ghosting reduction)
150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor
1.62M-dot 3.2" full-time touchscreen
Wi-Fi w/ NFC + GPS
Built-in bulb timer interval timers

VERY tempted. Been hoping for a 6D Mark II to replace my aging 6D, but that won't happen for at least another year. The 5D Mark IV has all the features I want, though in a slight bigger and heavier body than I wanted (why I went with the 6D in the first place).
Price is a fair bit more I was wishing for though. If it was $3,500, wouldn't have hesitated buying it, but dang, it's about $1K too rich for me right now. Might wait for the inevitable price drops/sales/Hong Kong grey market.

Trying to make a dutch angle of a building is the first sign you don't know what you're doing with a camera. Rule number one for architectural photography is make sure your camera is level both vertically and horizontally so that your vertical lines are vertical.
I encourage you to learn how to compose a decent photo first and foremost.

also almost all digital medium format cameras are DSLRs
>>2909779
Depth of field changes with format size.
Ability to change back with enhancements (not all but hassleblad and rollei pull this off).
If you extend the argument to large format camera with digital back you then travel significant tilt shift options.
Different focus on how the cameras are built, you will often find that the camera is geared to have manual override as it is expected that you are going to do some crazy stuff with light (studio or otherwise).
Fantastic selection of lenses mostly prime which are suitable for studio work.
High build quality, will survive being used daily.
They have a different design paradigm in short.
