DSLR vs Mirrorless. Will mirrorless make dslr obsolete? As most mirrorless cameras are APS-C, is it no longer a disadvantage to shoot with a smaller sensor?
>>2929116
Who cares. Go take pictures. Or eat shit. Whatever you do, just fuck off.
>>2929116
Phone cameras made dslr's obsolete
DSLR will most likely stay relevant for a long time, because the autofocus technology will most likely stay ahead and they also consume less battery. Even if the autofocus advantage would disappear, some photographers simply prefer optical viewfinders. Mirrorless will become more powerful in the consumer segment and DSLRs will remain popular among enthusiasts and professionals.
Gave it a go and scanned some of my negatives to see if it's a viable alternative to regular film scanners.

What expression is it trying to convey?
Hey guys
So I'm new to film photography and editing as well. I recently took a few photos at sunset with the sun behind my subject. I've just got the film developed and I see that my subject is underexposed.
Is there a way to edit the exposure to bring back her colour and light etc.? Be it in Photoshop or Lightroom.
Any tips appreciated.

lift shadows with curves as much as you can, but you have no usable information there, its a flat shadow with almost no detail.
expression is bad, so it was a bad photo anyways.
>>2928529
1: Resize your shit
2: Film often has a lot more information than you see in a jpeg scan. Try rescanning or going back to your tif file to pull the exposure up. That said, in general err on the side of overexposing negative film and underexposing slide film.
Anybody else heard about this?

a bit silly, is what I meant to say
All they have to do is release a full frame camera around 600~700 usd, with adapters to canon and nikon lenses with a fast and nice AF.
A really sweet photograph that I'm quite proud of.

I took a film camera to a 800 person campout because no one wants to steal shit they dont know how to use and because it would cost thousands of dollars less to replace if damaged or stolen.
>extreme environments
I guess Id use digital because my digital has a WR body.
>>2928224
I think my primary concern in being in some extreme environment would be the battery not operating at its max capacity due to temperature. The problem further compounded by recharging concerns.
How do people do it with their FF digital cameras when they go on long trips into the wilderness? Solar powered chargers any good?
Basically useless pile of dung used as a camera.

Hi /p/
I work at a design agency and we want to start and do some photography in house. At the moment we're just using my 2xYungnou flashes and a couple of cheap softboxes, which give decent enough results for small jobs.
My boss has given me a budget of £1,000 to get a decent rig but I don't have the first clue about proper studio lighting. What should I invest in?
Pic related is what we currently use for small jobs/headshots/portfolio work. We still hire professional photographers for big jobs but we want to start doing stuff inhouse for clients with little budget.
Cheers.
>>2927183
Also forgot to say we need a decent tripod head which can shoot downwards which needs to be factored into that budget.

What you need is strobes rather than speed lights. You can plug them into the mains and they sync/recycle a lot faster than a standard flash.
Depending on what you want softboxes are probably more versatile than umbrellas.

>>2927185
forget that
you will not find tripod heads that can act as a video head + head that will allow you shoot down. The cheapest ones are up the $700 price tag

why not shoot with film cameras if you want that look? I'll never understand why there's people shooting digital but wanting that film look. I mean you can do it with masking & shit but unless you really do it properly it looks like fake shit most of the times.

So, here's a non-latent 3 day long test exposure using a little box camera that I built. The box camera uses an enlarger lens and 4x5 film holders.
