I am looking for some assistance in trying to figure out the current mess of instant photo film.

I owned a Polaroid instant camera back in the mid 90's, but rarely used it.

I recently bought a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8, and that thing was a POS. The flash always stayed on, overexposed every single outdoor shot, film jammed, exposure settings didnt work, it was a shit camera. When it did take pics, it was actually decent, and how I remember Polaroid being.

I am looking for a modern Polaroid, or any other instant print camera that has inexpensive film. Not trying to pay $1+ per print.

I still have that old Polaroid camera of mine, I think it was 600 series. Polaroid stopped making film for it, but I hear that some start ups are making film for it again. Is this true? Is it expensive?

>>
Apart from Instax and the Leica Sofort, which also takes Instax film, you can only buy polaroid film from Impossible Project. This is probably the startup you mean. Their film sucks and you pay ~20 dollarideuros for 8 shots that usually look like someone pissed on a post-it.

thats a nice looking box o' polaroid
>>
There is no mess.

Polaroid doesn't make film anymore. If you want to use an old polaroid camera, you have to use impossible project, which is extremely expensive ($3 a frame) and not instant (20-30 minutes for full development) and might fade with time.

Fujifilm makes Instax film, which is still expensive ($1 a frame for wide, about $0.60 for mini), but actually pretty instant and more durable. Instax cameras are cheap plastic hunks of junk with very little control and more expensive than a $25 polaroid camera. No one knows why Fujifilm hasn't released a more serious camera. There are a couple of third party options from Lomo and Mint, but neither one offers true manual control. I have seen some polaroid land cameras retrofitted to accept instax, but that's a gamble and who knows how good the results are.

Peel apart film is basically dead and going through a surge in inflation and will continue to do so until the stock is depleted.

Instant film has historically NEVER been cheap or all that good. Pretty sure it's been about a buck a frame for the last three decades or so, so if anything it's gotten cheaper relative to inflation.

I can get a Yi M1 4k for 350, or I can get a Sony a5000 for 350. I could also shell out 100 more and get a Canon T6 bundle.

I'm a complete beginner and would like to learn the basics of photography. I'm leaning toward the Yi because it supports 4k/30 video and 1080/60 video. Thoughts?

I got fuckin jipped

I found some undeveloped film that I shot several years ago in high school, pretty valuable shit

Being broke as fuck and dumb, I dropped a roll off at the Walgreens for their mail-in service, like $12, i think the envelope said it was sent to Fujifilm

Got back a CD of this poorly scanned bullshit, with some photos being cropped to shit, some look like they've been folded in half etc.

How do I avoid this happening again? Is there some service out there that does a good job and sends you negatives or good scans?
I honestly don't see myself developing them at home, are there any other options?

Taken on an Olympus XA with Fuji Superia X-TRA 400 - expired 03/2007

will bump with images from the roll, taken in Crested Butte and Denver, CO

pic related is gf at the time, such fucking nostalgia awakened

Dedicated ISO wheel/dial on top plate
LED framelines
No movie button on top
0.72x viewfinder (up from 0.68x)
Frame selector
Raised M mount to accommodate the rumored thinner body (3.8mm thinner, think adapter collar built onto a thinner body instead of raising the entire surface area of the camera to meet the flange distance. No more fat Leicas.)
The model name will be M10, no more “Typ” reference (Leica M10 was recently registered in China)
The M10 will probably use the same M 240 battery (7.4V)
Shipping will start in Spring of 2017
24MP sensor (most likely the sensor from the Leica SL/Q)
Max ISO: 50k (just like the Leica SL and the Leica Q)
Bigger control buttons on the back
Slightly bigger LCD screen
Same EVF from the TL camera

I have multiple times, probably not a good idea but meh. We all die some day, why not sooner to an internet stranger.

www.SourPhotography.com

I like my site because it's easily navigable, my categories are very apparent, and I dig the minimal look. If I had more of a style, or one particular thing I was good at photography-wise that I get paid frequently for, I would hire a professional graphic and web designer to make a unique site for me. But for now SquareSpace fits my needs perfectly.

I got the fuji one, xp80, last year; sufficient for the beach holiday I took with friends.

It was good enough for a week's worth snapshits and vids on a boat, on the sandy sand that would've fucked my other shit up and of course in the actual water.

Didn't feel the need to spend much on something I would probably never use again. I've used it once more in water (pool) and a few times streetsnapshitting just because it was sitting there, charged and unused for so long.

If you actually want something decent then look at the olympus one.

This just in:
Pentax released firmware update for the K-50 and K-30 adding support for the new KAF4 mount with electromagnetic aperture control.

The camera bodies supporting KAF4 up to this point were:
K-70 native
K-1 via update
K-3II via update
K-S2 via update
K-S1 ditto

Lets hope it will come for the K-5/K-5II/K-5IIs too.

Personally, I have a few questions myself for people who have made it further in the game than I have. Before I stopped posting I was working independently and only getting access if I got lucky. Now a days I'm shooting for a couple small time publications here in LA but now I'm wondering whats next. Im being exposed to a lot of the bigger players while out at shows and they'll approach me asking who I am/who I work for and it's always a little intimidating. Ive met people who work for Goldenvoice, La Times, Redbull and other big companies and here's little ol me.
So what would your next move be to keep climbing the ladder? This city is kind of crazy

You do realise that most people live in a crappy shared apartment, right?

You should feel happy that you now have some goddamned independence. Use this time to sleep around and do whatever you want. Fuck.

>You do realise that most people live in a crappy shared apartment, right?
