I think most the zoomed in shots look better.
When shooting and in lightroom. I adjust the exposure so highlights fit within the histogram range.
Does this make the photos look too flat or gray?
It WAS overcast that day though.

Wew lads. By even linking to this you're just contributing to the decline of journalism.
Could I get some critique? I feel like i'm missing something, maybe I need to get better at scanning or perhaps the exposure is off?
I used 4x5 delta 100 and scanned with an epson v500.
no, it's fine. go away.
pretty good; I would have stood closer to the boardwalk, facing outward more so it's less of the subject. That's just me

thanks, if i ever redo this shot i'll try that, I'd also like to try it again with a red filter to bring out the sky
Does /p/ wanna have a calculated guess at the prices of these new sigma lenses?
Also does anyone here shoot with sigma lenses on Sony with the mc-11? How does it go?

>>3031774
It's a 5-6.3, senpai
Even better in my opinion, as long as the tele end is pretty sharp
Any idea what sort of post processing is being done here?
I tried working off some Agfa Vista and Fuji FP presets and still couldn't come any close.
I tried doing it by scratch - crushed blacks, reduced contrast and saturation, some colour shifting, some split toning on the shadows and still couldn't get it.
Can you tell me what this looks like to you? Thanks

There's a lot you can do with a shot like this. Is there a certain emotion or thought you want this to display? I would start there and do your best to represent that
I need a software like photoshop, that can open canon raw file. Already tried pain.net and gimp, but they still miss some feature. I'm low on budget, any suggestion? (windows)

What is a good camera for a newfag photographer? I want to take pictures mainly of my car, scenery and my girlfriend. Occasionally videos too. I'm not looking for anything Universal Studios tier but I'm not looking for trash either.
Ideally, I don't want to spend more than $250-300. I was looking at the Nikon p900 but those cost a pretty penny.
Rebel T5
Pentax k1000
D3300 if you want a little more performance.
DSLR start around 400 bucks seriously, with kit lens anyways.
>>3031309
Also is the d3300 okay being form 2014?
How do I get a job working and running camera equipment? Video or photo.
Just got laid off from a job making cut backs. I made commercials and long form documentaries. Was making $4000 a month. Everything I can find is only paying $1800-$2200 a month.
How do I find work at $4000 on the West Coast? Anywhere, Nevada, California, Oregon, etc. Would like to do the same thing.
Is that $4000 a month after tax and after maxing out retirement contributions and stuff? How did you find the job? Most I've made is $500 in a month as an assistant to wedding photog, feelsbadman...
>>3031164
Is it imperative that you make the same amount of money? You could always take that $2200 and go with it while you still search for the 4K job. Don't sit on your ass just waiting for the job you "deserve"
>>3031167
Before taxes. it was a full time gig at a commercial production company working with a broadcast network.
>>3031168
I could take the $2200, but I have 3 kids I have to support. So if I work 40+ hours a week, i have to pay for daycare for 1 of them. And unfortunately, at least in Nevada, $2200 is over the financial aid allowed income requirement to get assistance with daycare, but isn't enough for me to afford daycare myself. Plus, I'd like to get a house and according to my bank, I would have to make a minimum of $3400 a month.
But that is local in Nevada. if I move, that will probably change. May increase, may decrease.
Can we discuss this ?
Keep it Simple dawg
can someone photoshop some realistic smoke into my hand please.. i cant seem to find a tutorial on how to help me..

Are stabilisers like this worth it?
I'm shooting a video for an internship in 2 weeks, I have a Fuji XT1 and a budget of around 30$ for a stabiliser.
Is anything that's not a 1,000$ gimbal a meme?
>>3031013
Not sure how good the $30 stabilizers are, but to be honest 2 weeks is not enough time to get good at shooting with a stabilizer. You have to know how to balance them quickly, which isn't as easy as it looks, and you have to know how to actually move the camera, which is also harder than it looks. Not to mention, you can't really use them for extended periods of time because your arm will kill you after shooting for just a few minutes, and you can't pull focus either. They're cool for a few shots here and there, but should not be your main camera holder.
Get a cheap rig first (assuming you don't already have one) that will be your best piece of equipment to purchase
>>3031013
>a budget of around 30$ for a stabiliser.
Forget the stabilizer.
So you have a tripod? Put the camera on it and position the camera so it's pointing upwards at as close to 90deg you can. Now close the tripod with the camera on it like this.
Congratulations you now have a shoulder rig.
You'll need it as the C-AF on the X-T1 is pure balls and you'll need to manual focus. So have the tripod rig on your shoulder, one hand on the controls, the other on the lens.
Get out and practice with this setup.
>>3031257
okay thanks for your advice, i know my budget is terrible, i'll test out just using a tripod, appreciate the advice!
is this garbage?

What's the difference between paying for scans and doing it yourself at home?
>>3030870
At home you have control over the process, if you pay for it you lose your money and they hopefully are more skilled than you if they do it for money
In one instance you pay, in the other you don't
