you met christina aguilera?
No i did not. Whoever it was looked like her. I will find out who it was. They deserve charges in Canada. Whoever it was, it was not Christina Aguilera. Whoever it was looks just like this female. I think i know now who it is. I have poor eye sight and zero self esteem to focus on others... but my survival and self preservation instincts are honed. I will know by their presence. Whoever put their hand on my door will be charged, even if it takes a decade. I will find the bully female.

I'm trying to make the transition from SOoC JPEG to RAW and editing wih Lightroom, but I have no clue what I'm doing.
What helped you guys when you first started post-processing? Did you watch tutorials or pretty much went into it blindly with trial and error? Any tips are appreciated, I'm trying to learn this new way of going about my photos and making the most out of them.

Do yourself a favour and skip LR, go for Capture One 10. It's just all around better.
>What helped you guys when you first started post-processing?
Starting with photoshop and not software meant for editing a bunch of pictures all together.
Start with learning how curves work, by the way.
>>3033324
Just look for a short overview of the general features. Anything beyond 10 minutes is too long.
you will learn what you can do with each tool and how to export a high quallity image.
Lightroom is pretty simple and straight forward once you want to do something that you cant with your current knowledge, google that specific question.
If you want to learn a proper postprocesing workflow (capture one/lightroom-Photoshop-Print/High quallity file) you can always refer to... well, workflow videos. If you really want to learn about it, Pay for proper education.
>>3033337
Also this guy is a complete idiot. If you are going to process a RAW with Photoshop, it will open "camera raw" which is essentially FUCKING LIGHTROOM minus the database capabilities.
For everyday retouching lightroom is the tool to go to (you clearly wont exceed this in a while). Its pretty uncommon that for basic retouching you will need PS over LR
Capture one is in fact a good option, but i find it to be far more confusing and a little more intimidating than lightroom. You can change the position of everything and gives too many things to get confused with.
Stick to the basics and dont waste your time.
Hello /p/,
I'm jerking around here alot, and most likely I already told (You) why you are an ape-head and why you suck. But I think I mostly was quite helpful though.
Now tables have turned and I need your help: Currently me and my glorious company build a studio in order to produce a TV-series. In doing so, we planned to install windows in the scenery and to setup large backdrops behind them, which show the room's outside world. (Standard procedure actually.) For hipster reasons we shot the pictures, which are to be printed on the backdrop, on medium format film. Now I have two questions:
Firstly, what resolution to scan should I look for? How much resolution is mf capable of? Some companies offer 4000dpi? Is that already very fine or meh-tier?
Secondly, I need a formular to calculate how far away the backdrop must stand and which size it therefore must have, so that the view on it is scaled 1:1 in regard to reality. It was shot on 80mm, so 40mm full frame equivalent. Focus was infinite, since the outside scenery are some city buildings about > 30m away. Do I need to know the size of the objects which were photographed, or can I calculate it based on the focal length and the distance the screen will have?
Thank you for your kind support.
(pic unrelated. is for attention. clever.)

>But I think I mostly was quite helpful though.
Ok
>Firstly, what resolution to scan should I look for? How much resolution is mf capable of? Some companies offer 4000dpi? Is that already very fine or meh-tier?
Resolution of the backdrop depends on how close and with which resolution you shoot the show in. If you do 1080 there should be no need to print in higher res because you will most likely never have the whole window in one frame.
>Secondly, I need a formular to calculate how far away the backdrop must stand and which size it therefore must have, so that the view on it is scaled 1:1 in regard to reality. Do you know anything about triangulation? You got a diagonal angle of 55° with 80mm on what I guess is a 6x6cm frame(google angle lens calculator or similar). Now the size of your print only depends on the distance to the camera recording the show. If you do your calculations, you will get this:
diagonal=2*dist_cam_wall*tan(angle_of_view/2)
Which is basically the definition of the tangent function.
Math is really helpful in life btw.
>(pic unrelated. is for attention. clever.)
Worked for me
>>3033483
Thank you so far. Ofc the backdrop does not have to be printed in 600dpi. But from what I have seen, it does not make a huge difference in price if it is 96dpi, 48 or 32. So-spoken: you waste the 'tint' anyways.
In regard to the angel your message firstly let me notice an error in my thinking, MF is 0.7 crop, not 0.5. So 80mm equals 56mm FF, not 40. So for the angle we have
2atan(61.5/(2*80)) = 0.733 rad = 47°
horizontally and vertically.
For your formular this would mean:
2*10m*tan(47/2) = 322.45
322 what? meters? hardly. millimeters? like 32cm? wut? 322cm would sound like something wise, but how can cm be a result when I calculated in meters and degrees?
are you sure you're not being an ape-head again? "Math is really helpful in life btw." Hurr.
But you've been quite helpful though.
some more clever
How do you find your "thing" in photography?
I've tried nature, but don't have the patience to get close to animals. I've tried landscapes, but those around here are dull and ugly, and latest attempt in motorsporting events has been awkward and clumsy. Also automobiles don't interest me one bit. I know a guy who photographs barns for 90% of his shots, but I can't see the point in that either.
or is it possible that photography just isn't for me?
Get into deadpan landscapes
Do you have money and time to travel?
Do you have the money to build a photo studio?
Do you have the social skills to photograph pretty women?
Seems like photography is simply not your 'thing' at all.

So, I've been working as an assistant of photography for a couple of months and I really find photography something I want to do for a living. I've been taking pictures with a Nikon D50 that a friend lend me, but now I want to buy a camera so I can start working and getting more into proffesional photography.
I really like Canon and with the money I have (and the prices in my country, argentina) I'm choosing between an used 7D (like 5000 shots) or a brand new Rebel t5i (700D) with a kit (even if I'm not planning on using the 18-55 lens).
So I wanted to ask for your help so you can help me decide wich option is the better investment.
7D. Same crop factor, but far far better in every way including things like build quality and ergonomics.
>>3031899
T6i. The 7D is heavy and outdated.
>>3031913
why is it outdated? For the fact of the 18 mpx?
T6i goes a little off my budget, that's why I'm asking for a 7D or a t5i
Anyone knows why my lightroom is doing this shit?
I recently downloaded it after my computer died, it's CC2015 and i dunno how you feel about piracy but i downloaded it from the pirate bay.
>>3031568
software piracy is immoral. it is literally akin to landing in a foreign village, murdering the men, raping the women and children, murdering the women and children, and leaving with every material good that isn't nailed down. every time you pirate photoshop, a chinese programmer stares off into the distance and weeps.
nevermind i fixed it

Someone took pictures of a stores products using a lightbox. The problem is that she did not use much light at all to eliminate the lightbox! Im no photographer but I think a lightbox benefits from light!
How unprofessional are these photos when it comes to showcasing them on a store website?
If I color correct them perfectly are these salvageable? I wont be able to get much light/shadow contrast! She has done this for the entire stores 350 products.
Here are some examples.
Im worried there is not enough contrast to make the lights white, and darks black.
I just tried bumping the light/contrast.
Topic says it all, you fly a drone? How do you use it? Any work you're proud of?

I fly a drone.
I use it for surveillance. Not photography. So the tiny infrared flight camera is the only one I need.
Maybe if, one day, I do a bigger scale drone, I'll put a gimbal and a nice camera on it for high res aerial stills
They sell drones at my job. Never used one, but having to deal with them already makes be sick of them. I'm sure people get some really cool footage with them, but I can't see myself spending so much money on something where the parts break like nothing.
