the inside bit that is highlighted red for wizards
for some flashes it could be the underside of the top bit of the shoe

it is so the wizard or flash can ground to the shoe. think on it like shoe ground / centre pin hot

I'm trying to find a specific photo and I need help!

It was a Daily Deviation on DeviantArt many years ago. I've never forgotten it, but I can't find it!
:
It's a somber photo of a naked man, a closeup of his waist, his handcuffed hands hang in front of his flaccid penis.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Thread about marketing yourself.

How do you guys market yourself? Do you have a website? IG with tons of followers? I feel stuck at a level. My gear is pretty good and i came from film so know how to operate things manually. I'm focusing on figuring out a theme and sticking with that as my work is to random and all over the place. I want to be a better photographer, but could use the advice of people here.

Literally depends on what you are trying to achieve.

I run my business like most tradies do, I offer a service that my clients require. Its 90% business and 10% photography. I clear well above 100k every year with only myself (no employees)

If you just want to be a the le struggling artist meme then keep ding what youre doing.

just buy some cheap fujifilm shoot it and get it processed at cvs walgreens, then take negatives scan them into computer and mess with them on lightroom, whatever you took will look amazing
>>
>>3034360
Except those places don't return negatives anymore. You get a Kodak PictureCD instead with really shitty ~1200dpi negative scans that have tons of moiré effects all over them.

Find a dedicated photo lab that still returns negatives, and then scan them or have them scanned with a dedicated film scanner set to at LEAST 2400dpi (flatbed scanners are shit, even with film adapters)

This is not my photograph but I need some advice about IR film photography.

I have an Olympus OM10 with the 50 mm 1.8 lens which I will be using with Rollei IR400 film and an R72 filter. The camera manual says I shouldn't have a problem using the OM10 with this lens for IR.

I assume that the electronic metering will be useless with the IR filter (is this true?) so I'll use the Sunny 16 rule to estimate my exposure.

I read that, with an R72 filter, I should treat 400 ISO film as though it is 25 ISO. So, on a sunny day, I would set aperture to f16 and shutter speed to 1/25 s in order to get the correct exposure.

Is this going to work?

Without actually having shot with an R72 before, my advice is pretty useless, but if that's the instructions you're given, that would be correct.
Also, there's no reason you couldn't use the cameras meter. Set it to 25, take off the filter, meter the scene, set camera, replace filter, shoot. You will probably need to take the filter off to focus anyway.
Remember to use the IR focusing mark on your lense.
It's the red dot on the focus scale, focus normally through the viewfinder, and then move whatever number was lined up with the normal focusing indicator so it's aligned with the red dot instead.
Also, to get a full IR effect in your photos, you'll need to choose moist subjects. So people, or healthy green trees, or clouds. Dry barren shit doesn't reflect IR nearly as much.
>>
>>3032940
I just thought like, the meter reads visible light, most of which is going to be filtered out.

So a meter reading taken without the filter doesn't really tell you anything about the amount of infrared light available with the filter.

I was wondering whether metering would work with the filter on, like whether it reads infrared light the same way as it does visible light.
>>
>>3032940
Ooooh, so it's the moisture that reflects IR?

When I heard it was just living stuff I was a bit skeptical, sounds like magical hippy bullshit. But then I though maybe its something to do with pigments like chlorophyll or whatever's in our skin.

Hi /p/!
I would like to buy a good compact film camera, I own an Olympus XA 3 but I would like to have an antofocus camera with a flash.
I like the Yashica T4/T5, everybody seems to say that the lens is fucking awsome but I don't know if it's made of metal or plastic. Seems like plastic.
I like the contax t2 look, but it's fucking expensive, and doesn't seem a lot better than the yashica.
What do you know about the nikon 35ti or the minolta riva mini/ leica mini ?

TL;DR : contax t2 ? Leica "meme" mini ? Nikon 35ti ? Yashica T4/T5 ?

The yashica's are very very plasticy. The mju I is my favorite 35mm compact and its alot sturdier than the yashica's. Also cheaper.
>>
>>3033985
Yeah, fuck. That's what I thought. I wan't to bring this camera to bars with friends, and don't really wan't it to break if it fall down. I already broke two camera's like that.
So, for you, the mju is better than the yashica ? Good to know because it's a lot cheaper...

The thumbnail actually looks pretty nice. If this wasn't taken with a phone, it would be pretty good. The flare and almost sepia colouring give it a really nostalgic tone.

The camera really kills it, though. Go get a cheap DSLR and shoot more, man. If your other shots are this good, then it looks like you have an eye for this!

I do outdoor portraits but my D3000 doesn't have a fast enough fast enough sync speed. Afaik it can't do HSS and the IQ is shit. I'm getting a good deal on 5D2.
