Looking for some advice from 4chan folk. I am looking for a DSLR that would be convenient for handheld vlogging and so that it can record video for roughly 45 mins without overheating on a stationary speaker usually at a podium. Preference is a wide angle lens or interchangeable. Thanks a bunch for some leads.

I have ¥60,000 (about $500) worth of points/gift vouchers from Yodabashi Camera in Japan and I was hoping to buy either a decent entry level DSLR or Mirrorless camera or even a Compact camera that offers a decent step up from cell phones.
So far my 'best' choices withing my price range that Yodabashi offers seem to be either a Nikon j5 double lens kit, a Nikon D3400, a Canon 1300D/RT6 or a Canon 100D/RSL1.
I really wanted a Sony RX100 II but Sony cameras bought in Japan do NOT have English support, and my moon-rune reading ability is fucked.
Any advice?
>>3038145
I dunno about the RX100 II, but language can be changed on their mirrorless cameras through a small third party app.
Also, like 90% of camera words in japanese are katakana, so you should be fine.
Yodobashi also sells (slightly pricier) English language versions of their products.
Or you could actually try learning the language if the country you live in.

>>I dunno about the RX100 II, but language can be changed on their mirrorless cameras through a small third party app.
From the research I've done, that's not possible on the RX line.
>Also, like 90% of camera words in japanese are katakana, so you should be fine.
Having played with the camera a bit in store, it's got a fair bit of Kanji. I'm mostly fine with Katakana, but not at speeds fast enough for on the fly stuff.
>Yodobashi also sells (slightly pricier) English language versions of their products.
They only stock the III and IV in international, which is way beyond my price range.
>Or you could actually try learning the language if the country you live in.
Which I am. But when it comes to things I need to read quickly, my skill just isn't there yet.

>CANON
What the fuck is Canon up too? Is it even worth buying one of their DSLRs now since they will inevitably go mirrorless within the next 5 years?
DSLR sales are crashing hard, mirrorless has a steady momentum and the EOS M5 is a decent little camera.
Is it possible to make a mirrorless EF Mount camera? (>inb4 hurrdurr muh small size pfpfpfp) I just want to know if it is possible, after that would it be logical for them to do so or instead use the new M Mount? (Is the M Mount even FF compatible??)
I currently shoot on a mirrorless system, however my business is growing and I want to invest in a more complete and reliable system, the obvious choice seems Canon but It is not a small invstment I do no want to drop 10k into the system to have it be discarded in a few years time (obviously Canon will not kill their DSLR line) but it could definitely become the mirrorless lines aged whore cousin once they shift their focus (similar to the A Mount and E Mount)
>>3038132
>Is it possible to make a mirrorless EF Mount camera?

>>3038155
Would the lenses still work the same? Why are all mirrorless systems focus by wire?

video quality looks like ass though.

Is it true that scanners in airports fucks with film? I'm planning on traveling with film and I don't want it to get fucked up on my way there.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Well the X-ray machines say film under iso400 is ok. But apparently x-ray can damage film
I kept a roll of Delta 3200 in my checked luggage for several trips before shooting it.
It was fine.
Maybe I was just lucky but I think the machines just aren't as damaging as people think.
I've never had a problem even with checked bags. I've used those lead protective x-ray bags but I didn't see a difference so I stoped using them.
Pushed HP5 to 1600 was not a problem.

Yes, it's been in photoshop for quite a while. It's not fantastic, it creates some weird artifacts, but it can help.

Just gone through my parents old storage and found two cameras and about 4 lenses.
They are both soviet Zenit cameras .
one of them works perfectly the other is in need of some easy repairs.
how are they?
what am I in for?
Would they be worth the fixed up?
thanks

This would be the /p/ equivalent of going through grandad's drawers and finding his old SS uniform and a bunch of child porn.
Your parents are degenerate cucks who should be dragged into the town square and shot as a lesson to us all.
If they work they should be perfectly fine for someone just starting out. I suggest reading up on them online, their functions and what kind of a lens mount they are compatible with. Also what to check for to see if they are in working order.
And what the hell, if they work just buy some cheap film and go shoot.

Anyone here got a Drone?
Specifically, the DJI Mavic Pro?
My DJI Mavic Pro arrived yesterday just in time for a project shoot. But, i'm having major issues straight out of the box:
> Open package, charge everything.
> Download the DJI GO 4 app, go through the motions of signing up to DJI, activate my drone, etc.
> Turn on the controller, plug in phone and relaunch the DJI GO app.
> Download latest firmware, as prompted.
> It gets to 39% and stops for a few minutes.
> Suddenly, phonecall from my gf. She's stuck miles away and I have to come get her, she's got a show tonight.
> Get ready to leave immediately
> Phone rings. "Don't worry, it's all sorted now. I have a lift home."
> Okay, right, so back to the Firmware update.
> Relaunch app, no idea if the firmware completed or not. I assume it didn't, because I had to answer the phone. Wether the update runs in the background or not, I have no idea.
> Decide best thing to do at this point is reset the firmware cache and start again from scratch.
> Now, my RC won't connect to my phone, or my drone. It's constantly stuck in "connecting..."
>I've tried using the cable and directly connecting my RC to DJI Assistant 2 (on my phone, on my mac, on my pc), but even that doesn't recognise the RC. The cable is fine, i've tried it on the Drone and it recognises it. The problem is isolated to the RC.
> Spend the best part of yesterday looking through forums and apparently a lot of people have the same issue. the Firmware update got to 30-40% and then froze (I happened to answer my phone during the freeze, backing out of the App during the freeze)
Do I have to send this back to China?
No kidding, it took 5 months between pre-order and now to receive it. I'm fucking shitting myself at the prospect of going through all that shit again.
I know it's a long shot but i've tried everything I can think, can anyone here help?

Back it goes I'm afraid buddy.
And have you flown a drone before? They take a LOT of practice to get good shots. I wouldn't plan a shoot within 6 months of it arriving.
>>3037302
Thanks for the reply man.
No never flown before, but today I was supposed to be going out with a drone photographer and he was gonna show me the ropes.
To top it off my gf is breaking up with me by the looks of things. Today's a bit shit.
I'll take this as a tally mark in the 'Send back to China' column.
>>3037301
what phone are you using? they have a list of supported devices out there somewhere. its not specifically for the magic pro but I bet it lines up pretty well.
I had similar issues and realized my phone was not supported. ended up repairing an old iPhone for all my drone needs.
How much would it usually cost for a wedding photographer?

Typically you're looking at two or three grand. It's a competitive market, however, so shop around.
Love the south park reference. Thanks. We found one reasonable for 1,000.
I'm planning to get back into /p/hotography after a year's pause.
I know that I have to delete the NIK Collection and up my postprocessing game and composition to get better, but I would like to get some C&C from my good ol' friends from here, so I'm dumping some of my less crappy shots from the past two years. Please comment away.
