How often do you shoot at over 12800 ISO, /p/ ?
This was shot at Hi1 (25600 iso) and it's still usable as a snapshit.
Digital ISO is a lie, it's just amplification, the loss in quality is pretty bad, today even good cameras have a native ISO of only 400.
DESU better quality can be achieved with sme pushed proceced delta-1600
>>3043660
Never. Currently anything over 12.8k is just digital amp anyway, so you may as well just shoot that and push in post if you really need to, and if you accidentally clip highlights you're not bringing them back.

Thank you very much ! I shoot with a pentax k-50 and a 50mm smc 1.7 lens. I purchased a book recently called "Michaels Freemans Photo school fundamentals ! I try to have a good variety between color and b&W and themes. i also believe my composition could have been better

1) Too busy in the bottom half of the image. You can crop out that green watch thing but everything else will still detract from the image.
2) Blurry, looks super compressed.
3) Sun is overexposed, in fact your whole image is.
4) And his hand gesture isn't very fitting. If you captured a first or a finger point, it would have made him look like a silhouette of a statue. Instead, it looks like he's trying to make a llama with his hand.

/p/ what is the most you can have out of a raw photograph?
what does a great photographer does that you don't, just technique-wise? if you had the exact same equipment as a high end photographer, same lens, same ideas, what has the repetitive process of pressing a shutter button blessed the veteran that you aspire towards as a hobbyist, or as a professional? what are you looking for in your own work?
ive been taking art courses in photography for a while now and we dont visit much the actual act of photography as much as we explore the ideas behind it, which is just as valid. but i have a lot of free time to do this on my own and i feel like i havent been.
do you know any exercises i should take on to get myself out and going for photographs every day? what books do you recommend for both outside and studio shooting, i have all the equipment available and some friends that would model for me any time, and i've never exploited this.
im just looking for inspiration to focus on photography, because i tend to think i can do anything i want, and i just dont have the time, so i want to just stop and focus on this.

1st read the sticky and resize your shit.
Also I have this little exercise where I reread what I type before I post it to make sure it makes sense. You should try it sometime.
Anyways there is more to photography than pointing a camera at something and pressing a shutter button. Just go practice and take pictures of shit. Post in and recent pictures thread and get feedback.
>>3045382
you are quite dense arent u
first of all, this image isnt mine, i just pulled it out of the internet. hint: its by one of the most famous female photographers in ever!!
i dont see how nonsensical my text is, given i havent actually slept though. but either way thanks for bump!!!
>just go practice
well, thats just the thing, it's hard to practice without knowing what im practicing. if im playing minigames to manage my meter it gets kinda boring. im just looking for some proper readings on in-depth exposure (built in and handheld meter) mostly, and anything on advanced lighting in studio
>>3045239
In general I think what seperates hobbyist like people on this board and great photographers is the time invested and the thought they put into their work.
People here just go out at the weekend and take a few pictures of things they think look nice and post them here right away.
A professional photographer though might take hundreds of pictures every day for a year or more and then just release ~40 of them. These pictures will most likely have some sort of theme and won't be just random pictures of nice looking stuff.
X-T2 vs X-Pro2?

Depends on your preference - SLR vs. rangefinder styled.
Pro because the names sais it: it's for professionals
What focal length do you people prefer for general travel/street/walk around lenses? I'm trying to narrow down what lenses I need since I just made the switch to Sony and I'm a poorfag who's only used 3 lenses, the 18-55 kit lens on Nikon and Sony cameras and the Nikkor 35mm prime, neither of which are particularly good quality compared to what's out there.
Something like the Sigma E mount 18-35 f/1.8 looks like a perfect street photography lens because it gives you the framing and depth of field that a 35mm has but still allows you to drop down to 18 in tight spots, but what do you people prefer?
It was 85, then 50, then 35, then 28, now it is 24.
I'd say 28 is the healthiest balance for most people - not too wide, not too telephoto. That said, that can make it quite boring - it's not that wide or that telephoto.
I live out of a van for 3-4 months of the year and travel around Europe, for this I use an XPRO 2 (was an XT1 last year) and 4 lenses.
12mm f2 Samyang
18mm f2 Fuji
35mm 1.4 Fuji
Fuji 60mm f2.4 not only a great macro lens but stunning for portraits
I would say I could get by with just the 18 and 35 if I really wanted to.
40mm
alright /p/ which one is best?
the f-1n? the pentax LX? the nikon f3?
>>3044492
Obviously debatable, but the Nikon F give me a boner.
Nikon D5, probably.
Other contenders exist - none of which is a film camera. Only a small minority of pros will shoot 35mm film at this point.
>>3044495
i meant what audience they targeted mister
I dont know shit about photography but i found this lens fully packaged and in pristine condition, i tried looking up cannon 50mm lens but thats hella broad, im tryna fingure out the exact model and price if anyone can help out, or would it be worth it to just use it myself like i said ion really know shit about photography but i make music videos and recaps of events my friends play right now i just have a stollen like vixia hand held camcorder but the quality is ass https://youtu.be/RJy-v3LzI0k this one i shot using it im trying to get a hold of a good dslr camera for videos if possible im looking for one for undee 350, and if i dont end up selling the lens would it work if i just bought a camera body without lens and just used that?

it's a Canon 50mm f1.7 lens
Everything you need to know is etched on the lens right there.
Minimum aperture is f/1.7 so it's decent.
Look up Canon 50mm 1.7 on ebay and you'll see the general price for it.
If it's in mint condition with packaging then sell high.

You certainly got what you paid for.
Are real life photos the only type of photos accepted here or can I also post in-game screenshots I take? Pic related is an example.
screenshots are allowed, but they will be judged mercilessly based on their aesthetic merit. if everything else you post is similar in quality to your op pic, i wouldn't bother unless you love being roasted.
nowadays kids sure are retarded.
>>3042582
Aesthetic merit, huh. That actually sounds worthwhile. I did it once on my ps Vita.
