you could. performance won't actually be better than the gx7 in straight shots, but it has a bunch of cool features.
Olympus deep menus are a clusterfuck but once you get the camera set up the actual shooting controls are almost as perfect as pentax.

People don't bash on fujifilm here, two or three guys bash on fujifilm here.
If you check the recent photo thread, you'll find that a lot of fuji users are too busy shooting and posting photos.
I want to buy myself a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L (dunno if Mk1 is enough or will got for Mk2 yet), but the bitch costs $$.
I have an older Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 lying around that I could sell for about 250 bucks, then get a used 70-200 f/2.8L for $800-1400.
You think it's a good trade-off? I barely use the Sigma because it frankly sucks, but it's the only wide-angle I have. I rarely shoot it but you never know.
Still, I could get a 24mm pancake for about 150 bucks and still have 50 towards my new Canon zoomy.
It's just that I feel that the savings in the end are minuscule, and maybe I should just get shooting with my 18-250 sigma. I'm not printing my photos or anything, so at screen size it should be perfectly fine.
Yet I look at my photos and see that slight CA and I suffer internally.
I dunno why I post, any experiences like this? I imagine it's a common problem. Just nobody IRL to talk to about this.
Pic related. Taken with the sigma. It's sized down, but the resolution still sucks ass, I think

Save a ton and just buy the 80-200 f2.8L
Photo looks like a movie still. Not the sharpest quality, but interesting nonetheless.

Also, that lens you have is trash.
Sell everything, try again. But yeah, a decent 70-200 is a necessity.
/p/ /fa/ thread.
What sort of shit do you wear when you're going out to take photos? Do you have a special photography vest covered in pockets to store shit in, like a walking stereotype? Do you dress a particular way, or just dress like you usually do?
Post your photography outfit(s) AND the sort of photos you take. I would imagine that a landscape photographer who gets the shot only after hiking all day has a very different experience from a street photographer who needs to blend into a crowd.
nobody is going to have a uniform that they wear every time they go out.
personally what i wear depends on whether i want to blend in with people in the area. sometimes i dress up a little more formally, so that im believable as a "photographer" as opposed to just a pervert creeping around with a camera.
>>3046109
Photographers hate being noticed, so naturally they'd try to look the least like a tourist as possible. If they're in a city, they're going to try to blend if the crowd, if they're hiking they're going to dress like any other hiker (why wouldn't they). A landscape photographer isn't going to look like some suburbanite faggot walking in the woods with a T-shirt, sneakers and jeans, unless they seriously couldn't care less what other people think of them.

Today I managed to get off my sorry ass and go out to take pictures for the first time (since it was one of the few occasions I had some sunlight after work). It's the first time I'm "in public" but haven't managed to take pictures of people because that shit's scary yo
I tried to have some kind of basic idea for each picture that made it, and although the execution is usually shit, I hope I can get some pointers to what could've been done to improve the shot (even if it's boring). I think I like symmetry and geometry and such. I suck at exposure and lighting, only noticed I had ISO manually set to 200 about half way into my trip...
So anyway, I'm just gonna dump some and you people can bash them (I read that if you need to explain what you were going for, you failed)

Total newbie here, but what kind of DSLR can take photos this "clean"? (pic related) Any recommendation? And no I don't plan on buying a $5000 camera and do professionnal shootings, I just need to have very high quality pictures taken for a press release.
>>3048612
This photo is 99% lighting and 1% camera. You could take a photo pretty much this good on a phone with this sort of lighting setup
But to answer your question, any DSLR you can buy today could achieve this. I reemphasise though, this photo is all about lighting
>>3048613
Thank you. Yeah that's what I originally thought, lighting & Lightroom/PS. Any tips on what kind of lighting work was used here? I need to tell those kind of things to a photographer.
>>3048622
If he's any sort of good with a camera you could just show him this photo and he'd be able to figure it out.
To me it just looks like one key light coming from the subject's upper right, and then maybe a reflector on his left.
My brother found a new hobby of fly fishing and passed me his camera, a Canon EOS 7D with 2 lens. An ultrasonic 28-135mm and a ultrasonic 70-300 mm. I have a general sense of photography but I'm still pretty new to "actual" photography. Does anyone with a better understanding know what this camera (and the lenses) are capable of? Such as what sort of photos would be ideally fine with this setup, etc. Recently I've enjoyed taking photos of people, so any tips for that matter are also appreciated.

What kind of photography you do depends less on the gear and more on the person. Your kit will be able to give you a taster of just about any kind of photography. You said you like taking photos of people - do you mean portrait, street, travel, journalism etc.?
>>3048550
I'd suggest you sell that camera and invest in some fly fishing gear and take up that as a hobby.
Far more rewarding and a far better skill to have than photography.

Are you the guy who was worried that a used d810 would "explode" in the other thread?
Chances are pretty good you'll be fine. I almost exclusively buy used cameras anymore. Let the other guy eat the massive depreciation that comes with new bodies.
If the camera doesn't exhibit any obvious signs of abuse (scuffed black paint on the bottom skid paint is fine, I'm talking dents and loose pieces), if all the dials spin smoothly and change the numbers like their supposed to, if the shutter button depresses smoothly with no jank, you're gonna be fine.

I just need some tips on some efficient ways I could keep my camera still, or at least keep my body centered on the camera. I seriously just sharpied the outline of my camera on a cardboard box. Has anyone done anything similar to this?
I want to continue my project, but i want the quality of the video to be better. I honestly anticipating more people on youtube to view it.

It took you an entire year before you realized you'd not be happy with it? (probably not a year but still at least a few months)
Why not ask for advise a little sooner than that?
Your facial expression in most of these pics make you look as if you're questioning why you're even bothering this project.
Also, the backgrounds are boring AF
The exposure is bland, the cropping is bad, you look like you're being photographed by the police after being arrested.
I can't expect too much from a potato webcam quality, but if you're going to invest a year in this why not at least get a tripod meant to hold a smartphone (they're not that expensive) and look up basics on cropping. Also, again, work on your facial expressions, you look so freakin' disappointed every time I pause the video.
What kind of post processing is used to achieve this look?
