Still looking for good stuff for the Pastebin and Imgur. Maybe we can get a list of Youtube vids and put them in the Pastebin or keep a couple important ones in the OP.

Thinking about picking up a new hobby? Want to get a memecaster? Haven't mastered the Palomar knot? Click here!

Get on dem Terminators for like $12ea

Booyahs are always nice and not too bad. And you can get lots of cheaper Strike King ones that work.
>>
I'm gonna buy a couple Sebile flat shads, which colors do I want?
Also are the Yo-Zuri floating minnows worth it? I keep finding them for $4 at Wal-Mart clearance and thought about grabbing one or two...

I realized recently that I spooled my memecaster and a spinning setup with Trilene... they fuck themselves over every time I take them out... is that shit flouro and am I retarded?
>>
>>20258
Why didn't you win the classic. U suck.

But for realsies those terminator baits are great for burining a spinnerbait because they stay upright, but they absolutely suck for slow rolling. I'll take strike King all day over them for that.

>>978734
For what reason?

>>978746
Dopeeeee. Out of curiosity why did you go with the 6' 6"?
>>
>>20259
>flatt shads
Yeee

I would go with at least one natural and then one bright one like that ghost or lime color. Color choice normaly depends on water conditions.

>>20260
Why does everybody here hate a nice, balanced 6'6" M rod so much?
>>
>>20256
Walmart has cheap ones for $1
>>
>>20261
Nah I like 6' 6" rods, just curious. I think longer casting rods help you cast lighter lures where on a spinning rod it doesn't make too much a difference within reason.
>>
>>20262
Those ones normally actually work, but they might fall apart on the first big bass and the skirts will dry out and crack within a few months of sitting in your tackle box.

There is no room where I fish at. Had my 7ft and was hitting branches but it's a spin caster. 7 ft would work in the canals but everyone fishes them. I'm trying spots like Bepsi. We are basically in the same area.
>>
>>20277
That's because your mom is physically retarded and probably can't throw a ball well either like many women.

Spin cast is for girls and children. Anyone who says otherwise is just embarrassed to be using baby's first reel as an adult man.
>>
>>20263
Longer rods cast further when paired with lures rated for the printed info on the blank. That's the whole point.
>>
>>20278
Makes sense. I hope you like it. The blackout + Curado is a really solid setup imo.
>>
>>20281

The canals do kinda suck. I mean if you can get to some quiet spots, it's not too bad. My biggest snakeheads have been out of real small canals behind businesses in Pompano. But aside from the main ones being overfished, there's no good natural structure to target like most lakes and that makes it difficult to find the fish in the first place.
>>
>>20282
No I haven't. They look straight though. I would rig those with a weighted EWG screwlock hook and run them over the tops of grass.

>and that's the only artificial I have ever used
I would definitely suggest picking up some kind of craw, a creature bait (lizards are where it's at), a curly tail worm, and maybe a buzz bait or something.

Also, when you're first learning how to use the memecaster use heavier weights.

Still waiting from Cabela's if they can somehow hook me up with a reel fix with my broken bail spring.

Right now I got styrofoam from an egg carton in-between the screw and it seems ok but would love just a proper reel.

They state life guarantee on the product page so I'm thinking I don't have to roll with it for too long
>>
>>20290
I gave you the website for replacement parts. If they won't fix it but you could at least find a part number, I'm sure you could order the spring from somewhere for a dollar or two.

Which is also why I like Abu reels. So easy to get parts if something small like that breaks, even on an old ass reel.
>>
>>20291
Typing in Cabela's gives no results. Just other brands.
I'm certain they'llhook me up but I'm just making blog post inthe thread as I wait
>>
>>20292
Checked

And I'm just saying if they don't want to fix it, ask them for a schematic or send a pic and maybe it is some common part number. Those Cabela's reels have to be made by Pure Fishing or somebody so I'm guessing that spring is a common part.

If they will fix it for free or just shipping costs, go that route and make em clean and lube it too.
>>
>>20293
My patience prevails, I'm just mailing it back. Thank Mr cabela
>>
>>20256
$7 is worth it for a quality spinnerbait that runs true and doesn't fall apart. They don't hang up easily and I rarely lose one, so I have no trouble dropping $7-$8 on a good one.

Anybody actually get lucky tackle box. I bought a month for $15. All I got was an okay crankbait, okay hooks, a jig, and two bags of plastic worms. It's all junk.
>>
>>20296
>not even Titanium
The T-1 baits are the ones that retail for a lot.

>>20297
You shoulda use the coupon code. I did 3mos at MTB and it ended up being like $11/mo after the $10 off code. I didn't love everyhing I got but it was definitely worth the money.
>>
>>20297
Pro and lucky box are the only ones sort of worth it. The cheaper ones has gems sometimes
>>
>>20297
I've gotten a few mystery and lucky tackle boxes. Most of the time it's shit that i don't want to use or probably won't work in my area.

Example, I live on the east coast of Florida. I ordered a fly box from LTB so naturally they sent me a box of trout flies/salmon egg imitations. Now I'm not saying they won't work, but it really wouldn't hurt them if they made boxes that are more area specific.

A box from MTB had a crank bait that imitates a adolescent yellow perch. Which as far as I know is a fish that lives far north of Florida. Again, it'll probably work but so far it's just been a conversation piece. It's got really nice action but so far I've gotten much more action with some cheap ass Chinese square bills I picked up on Amazon.

They're certainly fun, and you might land something at more than fair prices but I would hardly rely on them as a source of tackle.
>>
>>20295
what brands would you recommend/ colors?
>>
>>20256
Nothing is better than a war eagle desu

>>
Anyone here use scatter raps? Shallow or deep I have thought about getting some but it seems like I would just be buying something I already pretty much have. Seems like a meme crank to me.
>>
>>20300
>but so far I've gotten much more action with some cheap ass Chinese square bills I picked up on Amazon.

Generally tighter wobbles are better in clearer water. Sucks about the color thing. I doubt bass care too much though.
>>
>>20302
Bass Pro in Dania, their spinnerbait selection is like 2/3 War Eagles. The look nice but it limits the choice because of how many of those they stock when they could carry a few of another brand.

I should take a pic, it's stupid. Like 12' worth of shelf space of just War Eagles and they are all really simmilar except one has two gold blades and the other has one gold and one silver and the third is 15/32oz instead of 1/2oz...
>>
>>20301
Terminators, War Eagle, Strike King. ALWAYS have a white one on hand. A darker bodied one with gold blades are good for murkier water, but the white/shad color with silver willow blades is a tried and true standby.
>>
>>20305
That's sorta how the rod selection at stores like that too. They'll have 20 7 foot MHs but won't keep one or too of the longer or shorter rods.

Honestly man, I really couldn't tell. There's been a handful of people here that really like them, plus they're on sale on TW for cheap right now. That's why I got one. It is a stiffer rod, pretty sensitive, fairly light, and has a nice barebone look to it. If you got the money go ahead and get it while you can and they have a shipping special.

Has anyone used those Powell Diesels though? Seemed nice and was the only ML on sale, so I went for it, even though it doesn't have a warranty. Figured I would abuse enough before 30 days, so I could return it to them if it broke.

I'm getting anxious. It's that time of year where shit has just been defrosted and a ton of conservation parks haven't opened yet, but I want to go right now.

Thinking of going to Island Lake in Orangeville, Canada. Always had good panfish bites, and got a few pike and bass as well. Really easy to fish, too.

Any Canadabros here? Where are you guys planning to go?

I own a couple but haven't used them. I grabbed them for $3 at wal mart so I didn't care if they'd work well or not

>>20304
I appreciate the tip.

Didn't know about the tighter wobbles vs clear water. Might be the culprit since all the water around these parts are either full of tannins or look like chocolate milk.

I was gonna say Pflueger President 30 reel with the best rod that you can find and still be close to the budget. That would be like my President LE 30 and Vendetta, 15lb braid on it and it's a great all around spinning setup but it was $160 before line and tax. Regular President reel is $50-$60 and then check out the Berkley Lighting Rods or those Blackouts or see if you can find a Fenwick Eagle you like for a good price.

If you can find a combo you like, you will save a couple bucks. The Sedona/Sellus combo is straight for the money but those are a little bit heavier and not super sensitive.

I like to use cast-a-bubbles which is a bobber that you can add water to. I add a 2-3' leader and a fly. When the fish are keyed on small baits theyre really effective. they work in freshwater too.

Can you use a fly reel for spinning purposes?

From what i understand a fly reel lacks the ability of what a spinning reel does with it's bail-opening, so you cant just cast a crankbait on a fly reel without peeling out a ton of line first and then casting that out.

Any other problems that can be figured out?
>>
>>20419
Why would you want to?
>>
>>20420
Curious. There's probably one advantage it has over a spinning reel if you're using spinning tackle. I know line twist is a thing that separates the two.

It's everywhere [pic related]. Closest pond is 2 minutes. Harbor is maybe 15, sound is 10-30 depending on where I want to launch from. My town has almost 100 points of water access. Over 300 kettle ponds within 2-45 minutes. Takes me about 10 minutes to load the yak if it's not already. Mostly it lives in the truck bed unless I have to travel. Just use a baitcaster if you're worried about line twisting. Fly reels are mostly for storing line, you wouldn't be retrieving with it unless you were putting the line away or reeling a fish without hand lining it.

What do I look for in a spinning reel? I'm fine with a slow gear ratio, line capacity doesn't need to be too much, the drag should be good for 10lb test and I'm really only looking for quality.

How do you determine that while browsing?
>>
>>20434
Play around with them and see what you like. The more you spend, the smoother the drag and action will be and typically they will use more exotic materials to make it lighter. If you are doing saltwater, it's a good idea to make sure they have high quality shielded bearings. You will see $50 reels with "4 Bearings" and $50 reels with "12 Bearings", but it really doesn't matter if the 12 bearing reel has shitty cheap bearings in there.

But essentially all spinning reels are designed the same. So go play around with some and see what you like, then read the reviews online and make sure it won't fall apart in 3mos. You really don't have to spend a ton of money to get a spinning reel that will last for years, but you will have to pony up if you want a decent one with carbon composite this and that which weighs next to nothing.

Yes. Spin casts have cucked me multiple times. One time a guy caught a 200 pound tuna on his spin cast and I exploded a 300 dollar Shimano tranx on a 2 pound jack crevalle so that's why I hate them. My wife's son is a spin cast reel.

I really don't appreciate you dissing Mexicans. The ones here rock some awesome setups.
>>
>>20498
The irony of you being upset about mexicans over niggers is hilarious. You're racist too.

I will admit. Most mexicans are based as fuck and love the out doors but a lot of city ones trash urban spots and car camp areas and leave mountains of tecate lite and bud light beer cans all over.
>>
>>20498

mexicans come in 2 flavors here: Fat pieces of shit that do nothing but abuse government programs and the hardest working men you've every met

Luckily the latter is more common

I won't deny being an RACISSSS. Just don't associate those childrens reels with Mexicans.
>>

I agree. I understand I'm being racist saying they use spin cast reels but a good half of them here are literal nig tier trash. The others are hard working beer loving awesome guys.

The girls tend to be either fat tomato people like Navajo natives with diabetes or the hottest girls around. No in between in my area.
>>
>>20502
You're lucky. In Phoenix it's common. Total 180 with them. Wither they use those or some Mexican guy has 300 dollar bait cast rig. No in between.

>>
>>20506
I saw a redneck with a truck that smelled like chum (or the slag on the back needed to douche) use a massive fucking surf rod at a small local lake while i was working a 5' ultra light. He was chucking some heavy ass rig. I'm hoping he was just testing out the setup, but it didn't appear to be the case. Maybe he was trying to foul hook a gator?

Fuck.

I couldn't find that bass at the pond today.
Again tons of sunfish and another 5 in bass but that one I lost is still in that pond. Mostly threw a lipless crank + a Texas lizard.
When sunfish are jumping out of the water I figured they're being chased by bass, yet didn't see any bass break water. I saw that happen a few times.
>>
Well I waited until now to check dicks sales
Everything sold out
Fuck
Half tempted to drive to my local dicks to see if hey have stuff

Kek, just went into town to get a bag of chicken feed (because my wife has not used this coupon for a free bag in the month we have it and it expires tomorrow) I had to stop some mexi kid (7 year old) that was playing with some giys Harley while his parents where not paying attention.

Oh well I got some cigs and layer feed and hollered at some fine black chick in the parking lot. I also ran in into a fishing buddy that said that one of our spots is getting good action.
>>
>>20507
Do they stock channel cats there? Most catfags use big setups despite a small place.
>>
>>20466
I afraid to start using them where I typically fish due to all the rocks. I think I'll wait until summer when the snook start cruising along the shore, might try them on some bass in the mean time.

I still can't believe how beautiful megabass lures are. The amount of detail is unbelievable.

some lures actually catch fishermen
>>
>>20513
Noice.
>>
>>20513
Do you fish this like a jig or drag it on the bottom? And how quickly?
>>
>>20514
As a welder. Don't get an aluminum boat unless it's a Lund or something equivalent. Alumacraft and tracker break alone weld seems and the welds terminate in fish eye pin holes very often.

Hobie gas a better warranty and costs less to own. It to shill hobie. You could get an old town or natural e or wilderness too.

Just avoid alumashit and trackshit.

I am actually certified for stainless and aluminum tig welding. I'm at school for structural steel now as I completed the tig welding course first because I could enroll for it sooner.
>>
>>20518
Along weld seams. Fucking phone.
>>
>>20518
I have fished out of the alumacraft boats for almost 30 years, I know of thier problems. I can also fix them if I need too and can buy my fathers old one (woth motor for the same price as a hobie kayak) so he can buy a bigger one.
>>
>>20520
Fair enough.

That hobie will keep you in shape though and it's a lot of scary fun in wind and waves.
>>
>>20520
>>20521
Oh and the trailer would come with it.
>>
>>20512
I use them mostly for surf on the beach and they works very well there. I am hesistant to throw my $20 flashminnow when fishing on rocks as well and I have cheaper spoon, plastic swimbait, and cheaper crank for those spots. However, if I know for sure that there's nothing to snag at a specific place after scouting put with spoon at the spot, I might throw the expensive shit if the condition favors it.

Those stuffs definitely works for sure. I've days when I throw spoon and bucktail/ soft plastic with no luck but a few cast with the lucky craft get hit right away at the same spot. It's really essential when the water is on the calmer and clearer side for me.
>>
>>20522
That's not so bad but man.....boat motors, especially old ones, need maintenance money and if something goes wrong prepare to basically buy 6 Shimano curados to get it working unless you can do it yourself.
>>
>>20524
I was taught how to nigger rig and repair from an early age. I watched my dad repair a lost prop pin with a fishing hook when I was 14. I own a 2000 XJ and hunt with a rifle that is older than my Grandfather. That sort of stuff doesn't bother me.

How come state laws place minimums on fish length and don't want you keeping younger fish? Don't they want to preserve the ones that are surviving for a long time so those reproduce?
>>
>>20527
Oh wow. Such lure. Many innovative. How advanced. Wish I had one.
>>
>>20528
If you keep the smaller fish they never hit an adult breeding size. Even with these laws fish have been downsizing across the globe to breed under the legal catch limits. Fish are being artificially selected to be smaller.

Basically....too many people live on this rock.

Texas Rigs normally. That one was a 5" lizard, 1/4oz bullet weight, and a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG offset worm hook.

I normally cast them out, let it fall to the bottom, and then use the rod tip to give it little hops along the bottom back to you. Depending on how active the fish are, maybe half a second between hops on some days, other days if the fish are slow like 3-5 seconds between hops.

We were getting bites on other stuff but didnt start landing anything until the chartruese lizards
>>
>>20468
What does this mean?
>>
>>20517
>>20531
Also should add you can wacky rig them or drop shot if you want. And you can swim them higher up off the bottom. I have even run them weightless on the top through weeds and caught bass. But typical Texas rig always seems to work.

>>20528
I think FL state law on bass is something like you can only keep 2 fish >14" or 16", they want you to keep more of the smaller ones. Makes sense here especially since the warm water means bass can get up to 14" faster than cold states.

Not like the nigs will follow the rules anyway.
>>
>>20511
Maybe. I'm not aware of it if they do, but that doesn't mean they don't.
>>
>>20531
>>20533
Just seems like the fish were biting it. I did have a sunnie nip at its tail but no bass.
>>
>>20532
Stupidity 4chan meme.

Google bread meme 4chan
>>
>>20535
That happens sometimes, especially when running the ones with darker bodies and the chartruese tail.

With the Texas rigs, it's best to try and keep the line kinda tight. When you feel a bite, you have to wait a second or two so the fish has time to get the whole bait in its mouth before setting the hook. If you try and set the hook as soon as you feel the bite, you will just rip it out of the fish's mouth.

>>
>>20530
I've heard that large adult fish produce larger numbers of eggs and have better breeding success which is why some fish have a slot size of midsize fish that can be kept, while tiny and big ones have to go back. Seems like a good system.
>>
>>20541
Also you gotta keep the large predators around before panfish overrun the place and eat all the predator eggs before they even have a chance to grow.

It really depends on what the fish want. Experiment till you get bit.

>>20530
That's why I hate spring/early summer. So many people go out to the lake and I'm positive a good percentage of them don't care about bag limits, or they keep every bass they catch.

>>20544
Live targets have won big tournaments too. It's a lot more about the angler than the lure.

I don't use spring bobbers unless I'm fishing for bluegill but slip bobber fishing is awesome. I am guaranteed to catch fish when I go out with a slip bobber rig and some minnows. Just get a light rod so the fight counteracts the boredom of bobber fishing.

Sure. Even though they are the ones who endorsed and raised the people who invented it and sold it to millenials. They created the world that allowed this cancer.

You need a smaller worm hook if your going to rig them like that.
