Heroin ballads always a best
Guys, the whole Jim and Jesse McReynolds 1976 set is on Youtube song by song, and it's phenomenal.
Here's Freight Train https://youtu.be/v2RhG-NBLjA
The Steep Canyon Rangers are by far the most polished of the Newgrass bands. This is an instrumental, but they've got excellent vocals as well

The Hot Rize collaboration is great, seen em live, tons of energy for old-timers.
I like new grass when I'm around a campfire. Just feels right.

There's the penultimate Steeldrivers. A curse upon Stapleton and his magical voice for losing weight and catering to normies now.

The Devil Makes Three, for that degenerate Vermont grass sound.

HoneyHoney, not quite newgrass, but I wouldn't know what to call it and it's fiddle heavy. This is Big Man (for you) of of their third album.

Last one for me fore I hit my cot. An old favorite of mine, Hank Snow's version of the classic Appalachian murder ballad "Miller's Cave"

Eww, Eww, Eww! I'm getting PTSD from music festivals all over again. The smell, oh God the smell, I'm there. Ya unzipped me! The Deadhead symbol is everywhere. Hippies inside the wire!! The whirling of the hula hoops overhead.I can see Tex writhing in the mud, he took four tabs right to the tongue, never knew what hit him, he just wouldn't stop crying for his mamma.

They're good bud. So is old crow. Seeing old crow play blonde on blonde in a few months :)
>>19011
Seen em back to back at Delfest. The Turtles' lyrical content just doesn't appeal to me. Best band I hadn't heard of before that I saw there was these guys

>>19012
Saw old crow at delfest too. Great time. Cumberland is beautiful
>>19012
Stumbled on Brothers comatose there too
>>19014
Oh yeah, forgot about them. Everybody seemed to really like them. My roomate at the time constantly prowled spotify and NPR, so I did know about them going in.
>>19015
Where you from?
>>18970
nah it's boring
>>19016
Eastern Maryland. Was going to school in Allegany County at the time. I miss it, I could walk out of my front door, down the street, up a powerline, and be in the state forest in 20 minutes. You?
>>19018
Outside of DC in nova. Have to drive to get innawood so end up gym climbing or road biking
The whole 'I hear banjos' thing keeps the normies and blacks away, so I like it.
>>19020
Hah true. Hipsters seem to seap through the cracks every now and then though.
>>19021
Just play the old timers. When they find out that The Osborne Brothers aren't the Brothers Osborne, most frig off. The ones that don't are probably keepers, after all, we need young people to take up the helm and keep it alive. The hipsters have started another great bluegrass revival, so I can't fault them for that.

Y'all should check out Don Reno and the Tennessee cut ups. I tell you what Don does some of the best picking you've ever heard.
>>19029
His kids used to be in Hayseed Dixie.
>>19030
And if I recall correctly his son's carried on his style of picking didn't they?

Here's Don Wayne Reno (dons son) playing Limehouse blues.
